Fic-to-Art #44: Zuko and Katara meet Hotaru

This time around, my Patrons chose these two scenes from the prompt I offered them... and that prompt was "Hotaru", our tiny firefly herself <3 drawing her continues to be a challenge pertaining how to ever make babies look cute, but I hope she looks alright this time!

These two moments take place not too far from the other, but it's worth noting that Katara and Zuko don't get to see Hotaru at the exact same time. Thus, I figured I'd take advantage of the opportunity... and draw Sokka and Azula introducing their little one to their respective siblings. This will be an emotional chapter (lots of those coming up), but I do hope that these moments of happiness will be a good way to soothe the pains caused by our very intense angst from the current chapters... to be specific, this is chapter 378, so we're not that far away!! Just gotta wait a bit longer!

A part of me took joy in this specific prompt... the fandom has an abundance of "uncle Sokka" and "aunt Azula" content, be it with them together or not, while Zuko and Katara (also while together or not) happen to be the ones who become parents first. This often relegates their siblings to a secondary role, and too often there's either implications or outright accusations that these two just aren't fit for parenting. I don't really remember seeing much, if any, content where Zuko and Katara are the uncle and aunt instead... thus, I figured this would be a fun switch-up that, ultimately, doesn't mean any of these four aren't fit for parenting (Zuko's already a dad, Katara will be a mother someday in the future!)! It just means that Zuko and Katara get to bond with little Hotaru and be supportive siblings! And everyone's happy and wholesome in the process!

hi it's been a month and a new . hold. is over me. it's called hollow knight. and. I have. like. 50 hours in it. in the past two weeks. 150ish total. and i've almost 100%'d it achievement wise. I already got the pure completion/112% completion achievement the only thing I have left is um the p5 ending which i've gotten really close to. I got to abs-rad last time which is funny because the time before that I got to pv before dying and that's also funny because the time before THAT I got to nkg so each time I only got one boss further so hopefully next time if I make it past pv again i'll beat abs-rad (ofc I need to practice against her but yk (I'm so bad at fighting her)) ALSO tiso is my favorite character he's the best he's my favorite ant EVER second place goes to god tamer she's cool. I hate fighting her tho she actually can ruin my p5 run. boooo. grimm gets me my health back tho he's real one. anyways ig unpopular opinion but I LOVE godseeker idc that she hates ghost in a normal playthrough I heart her she's the best :) and I like cloth a lot too that's a normal opinion I think cloth is really neat! hive knight is also my second favorite character. I loveee the little bit of lore we actually get about him and I like how he goes "bzzz huzzah!" because that's so real hive knight!! huzzah!! and pure vessel. pv. oughh they're totally my favorite fight with hive knight being my second. pure vessel is so much funnn like idc that they already deal double damage like. they're soo much fun!!!! and speaking of vessels lost kin is also the best lost kin makes me want to cry sometimes. ough the nod after you finish the dream battle I KNOW THE LORE I KNOW WHAT THAT NOD MEANS RAHHHHH. I also like monomon and quirrel a lot. jellyfish and pillbug combo my beloved.. I want. the next username I need to make. monomonn. because I love her. and I think her name is super neat. also nkg is pretty cool but like his name is kind of. middle schooler. nightmare king grimm.. muah ah ah... but he's a fun fight he's an enjoyable fight. idc that he's also double damage it's fun!! it's so much fun I love how. he's .pink. anyways. yeagh. bzzz HUZZAH! bzzzzz HUZZAH!

DCAS episode 17 - review

spoilers!! (but you knew that.)

i could’ve been writing poolverine fic to spend my time in a more rewarding way than watching this show but oh well we’re here now (read my new poolverine fic here btw they make me sick)

of course it had to be grett. with basically zero build-up, they have yet again eliminated a strong, powerful female character to let a boring romantic relationship with so much miscommunication get screentime instead. they fucked ellie over for the sake of tomjake and now they did it to grett for the sake of conriya.

it makes me actually sick how much ONC does not care for their characters. they’re such fucking sell-outs. i get creating characters just to make them fuck or die but for god’s sake you’re writing a show with thousands of fans. at least pretend to give them something. throw us a bone ffs

if it’s not evident by now, i think this episode was horrendously average. i would tear it down for being out of character, but what pisses me off is that it’s not. connor reverting back to his old self is not ooc, that’s for sure.

i’ll give them this, it was refreshing to not see the children jake and ally fight every ten seconds. good to see them working together, i guess.

riya winning by riding spirit was stupid. the rules were laid out in a way that i thought she would have to cross the line with bojack. and then it’s just like. nah it’s any horse actually. who cares. go wild.

riya winning in general was stupid. they forced a forgive-and-betray arc on her in the last second because they didn’t want to let her go and fuck that drives me crazy.

as the last gen 1 standing, i think it’s safe to assume jake will be in the finale. alongside him will probably be connor, because they wouldn’t pull that entire ambulance thing if he wouldn’t make it to the end, and riya, because connor has to defeat the big bad. or something. idrk what he has to do actually because one minute he’s over riya and the next his tongue is down her throat. i’m sick /neg

i miss when this show was actually good and actually cared for its characters. come back to me S1 ellie. come back to me S2 ally. come back to me S2 connor with no screentime to be fucked over by. come back to me actually good DSVC episode. come back

i’m only giving it this high of a rating because it’s in-character for all the stupid shit to happen, and as much as i hate to admit it, that shot with riya seeing herself surrounded by cameras and forcing herself to pretend was great. too bad she wasn’t in a better show with better writing and better lines and better voice acting to actually make that scene work. 5/10
