Fic-to-Art #48: Azula and her nieces

Now, I apologize, I absolutely forgot I hadn't posted this out here :'D but here it is now! Last year's final piece for my Fic-to-Art collection!

While I can't guarantee there will ever be anything 1:1 with this scene in Gladiator, I mainly wanted to capture the vibes of their dynamic. I continue to think the funniest damn thing that can happen to Azula and Zuko is for their sibling to be their kids' hero, so here's a representation of that, with Zuko's little girls being completely taken with their aunt. I really wanted Mari to look like the happiest little girl ever (her aunt has blue fire, just like Princess Jing!!), and I really loved the hyped expression across her face. She's such a bundle of energy, makes me happy just to look at her. Zi, comparatively, is always much more chill and laid back, which will absolutely result in some crazy sibling dynamics once the two of them grow older. Utterly different personalities can be a great source of chaotic chemistry :'D

So this is the “pilot episode” for a comic I’d like to keep adding onto just for fun, the basic premise is that it’s a post canon fix it comic about Dean discovering who he is outside of his macho persona while also repairing his relationships and building new ones.

It is a Destiel fic but it’s gonna be a slow burn because Dean has decided he can’t talk about his feelings until all his emotional issues are resolved (spoilers that’s not how things like that work).

I also plan on peppering in some lore explaining how Cas got out of the empty, how they ended up with a house, and who is currently God in universe. I’m not sure when I’ll get to work on another installment but hopefully it won’t be long because this has been an AU rolling around in my head since 2020

engineer doesn't get enough love on this blog considering how much I cannot express my devotion to him, so I’m working to fix that :) this is similar to what I did for damien but it took foreverr!! iswm lighting is so so pretty which makes it impossible to get right ;;u;; the saturation is really high and there's multiple light sources so in terms of rendering it, its like it was personally designed to leave me dead on the floor :))))) either way,, I'm happy with how it turned out!! he’s very prettie :))

Why, of course I'm still around! I'm not that easy to get rid of. To the second point; nah it's not in a notes app for the most part. I write some things down in advance, but for the most part it just comes right out of the ol' brain into the askbox. Unless I'm writing it as a fic, that is.

Recently, I've also been thinking about kanamafu and glasses. Based on Mafuyu's one trained card, I do think she has reading glasses, though she doesn't wear them super frequently. She doesn't need them, it just makes things a bit easier.

Kanade does not wear glasses. Kanade SHOULD be wearing glasses. (inspired by me getting an area conversation of Kanade going "I don't see anybody today" in the empty SEKAI with Meiko, Luka, and Mizuki literally right there with her)

Kanade's incredibly nearsighted, but also incredibly stubborn on the issue. She's always sitting right up next to her computer so it's fine, she doesn't need glasses, she's been doing just okay without them for years. Mafuyu, after living with her for about a day: "you need glasses." - K

Fic-to-Art #46: Azula's lightning backfires

It's been forever since I posted art because of a very simple reason... I forgot to! :'D frankly, we're at #47 by now but THAT ONE is a little bit inappropriate for the Tumblrs so... as proud as I am of how it turned out, you'd have to join my Patreon to see it since Tumblr is Dumblr. It'd get flagged instantly if I posted it at all :')

Anyway! This prompt was meant to be a scary scene, and to my surprise, my patrons voted for an old one: Azula's confrontation with the White Lotus members in the Palace. I specifically chose the most daunting moment of the whole thing for me, as in, just before Sokka turns up, right after Azula's attempt to bend lightning, while sick, goes really really poorly. I hope the spooky shadows work well here, I kinda worried that they wouldn't make enough sense. I figured nothing's quite so scary as not seeing the scary thing? So... this seemed the best way to go about this one :'D

When I saw you making For the Spirits art I was so excited, wow, one of my favourite artists is reading this too, how nice!! Then I realised you’re actually the author and I just want to ask, how?? Are you so talented???? I love this fic and I love your art so so much, thank you for sharing it all with us. Can’t wait for the next update!!

Ah, thank you! This is literally so sweet! For the Spirits (adding a link for the curious folks out there!) is my love child. This project owns my heart and soul, and it's truly so rewarding that you like it! I want to sketch so many different scenes, really, but I'm doing my best to give you some quality artwork of my favorite moments in the story. It's a slow process.

As for next chapter—soon! I'm working on some sketches for this particular scene, and I am so excited to share it with everyone! Things start to pick up from here... But, for now, have a (very little) sneak peek ❤️

Alright! So I finished hand binding Crimson Rivers by @mayzarbewithyou :) this was my first time bookbinding so excuse the mistakes I am far from great, but all in good time! This fic basically changed the trajectory of my life so I thought I’d give it the love it deserves! the spine is regulus standing looking up at the tree and he is purposely put on the last book because he finally learned how to climb and grow. I’m so emotional over the end of the fic so this is very emotional to me. I did the typeset myself and there are some cool details I’ll try to put in another post, but basically I added all of Zar’s end notes as footnotes to the specific scenes he talks about! All very fun and the dingbats match the theme for the books and the backs each have quotes the correspond. I split it into 5 just because it didn’t feel right to have the epilogues in the same book as the war. They were two completely different parts of the story so I separated them. Anyways I’ll make another post. This was a labor of love and I hope I did it Justice :)
