random design thought processes below

(includes vague allusions to spoilery things)

- i originally sketched/worked out a lot of these when i was listening to w.bg for the first time in like, may-june so

choices may not reflect more recent descriptions/changes to characters

-the characters here are entirely based off of the sketches i liked from my original batch, i did have like, the hunters and other characters, but i didn’t have a clear enough image in my mind for what they look like

-so like, in my mind early on, i somehow got it in my head that OVER Tier 1 security guards wear green and kind of look like park/forest rangers

i don’t have any clue why, but it’s stuck

edgar gets a lab coat cause it’s fun

edgar also has long hair here, but i imagine him with diff hair lengths in different seasons of the show

- the mikes are all very man standing emoji in the lineup, but i thought it was funny so i didn’t fix it

- sly gets a leather jacket and gloves cause he’s a biker!

- my reasoning for outlaw being just a ty betteridge in a cowboy hat, is that he has on multiple occasions snuck into the compound and done things that would imply the only thing that would separate him from the rest is his hat, and his accent

and i think it’s funny

maybe he wears more cowboy stuff in texas, and wears the suit to infiltrate the compound

Matt got struck from the timeline during this last season right? which makes sense, because if Nobody was essentially trying to undo them playing Woe.Begone, of course he would be dead. I was fairly sure of this basically since Python was introduced, but confirming that Python was an 'anonymous' Matt validates it.

because if Old Man had remembered Matt, there are two options I see as plausible

He knew what Python's deal was with being an anon iteration. In which case, he would have recognized that was what Chance was, which he did not

He did not know what Python's deal was. In which case, he would have definitely been just as confused as with Chance and that would have come up earlier

neither of those are the case, ergo Old Man did not know Python was Matt because he did not remember Matt. it's the only thing that makes sense to me

mike walters loves to look you directly in the eyes and open episode 1 by lying in the first sentence. he's not here to document the game as an impartial observer, he's here because the post that lead him to w.bg had some kind of clue about the prize.

of course he was so desperate to believe that he was in first place. of course he was willing to cut his own hands off for bonus points. he "started playing WOE.BEGONE because [he] needed [matt] back", and anything that mike can do to increase his standing with the gamerunners increases the chance that mike gets to keep him.

by the time mike hits the fourth challenge, he's convinced that if he plays well enough he can get his hands on the tech. choosing not to play would kill them both. completing the challenge brings him closer to winning the game and having matt back.

the only way to still save matt is to lose him all over again.

parker yang malevolent and matt woe.begone are the same, in a way.

they're doomed to die before the story has even started. their existence (and their loss) impacts the protagonists to the point that both are, arguably, the catalyst for the events of both narratives.

we talk about how the main characters never stood a chance and forget about why!!! because it isn't about arthur or mike!!! the story happens because they lost people they cared about.

matt's death was a freak accident, and it doesn't even matter that matt is alive, now. he was dead and it wasn't mike's fault but then he saved him and now he has to keep saving him!!! he can't lose him again!!!) matt slid the gun across the table to mike and he kept existing even when base disappeared and it's danger all the way down but he keeps getting involved despite it all.

and parker's was, of course, far more intentional, but (situation with john aside) arthur is arguably still chasing a way to rid himself of that guilt/responsibility. he could've given up and gone to prison for the rest of his life but he trusted parker's killer instead. (maybe in the hopes that things could be fixed, eventually.)

it's sacrifice whether or not it was ever meant to be. it's parker and matt being sheep to the slaughter, whether by being resolved to the result of their partner's impulsive actions or by seeing everything they know about the world change and accepting death to keep them alive.

arthur and mike have always done everything they can to right their wrongs, even when their friend has been dead for months now or was maybe never dead at all. parker and matt are the same and arthur and mike's stories will always start with their end!!!

alright i know this is a bit after the poll (this week was Hectic) but. i loved the tournament a bunch even though i didn't have time to make good propaganda for my boy matt

like. i didn't know who whole or brian were before this tournament but now i have spent way too long playing yuppie psycho (considering that poll came out like a week before finals and also that. i can't do any of the puzzles) and have so much cccc brainrot. all the participating blorbos were too powerful. amazing competition

i just want to shout out texas!michael and outlaw!ty for singlehandedly almost saving the timeline and then making it 10x worse and then dying technically because no one knows they even exist to bring them back. like ik realistically they are NEVER coming back but that doesn't stop them from being my favourite woe.begone duo ever
