I saw your tags on the recent poll about being an eldest daughter of an eldest daughter and I have to one-up you. I’m the eldest daughter of an eldest daughter whose mother was also the eldest daughter.

My grandma had an older brother so I ALMOST made it. I have to settle for being the firstborn daughter of a firstborn daughter who gave birth to a firstborn daughter and I am okay with that.

i was staying at my grandma's for a while when i was like 6ish, and she lived out near amish territory and shopped there a lot. i was obsessed with the stray cats that would wander around because cats were my favorite animal, but my dad was deathly allergic, so i'd never been around one in real life. while my grandma would shop, i'd just follow the cats around, petting them. a woman told my grandma she was selling a handmade stuffed cat toy and my grandma bought it for me because it looked super real and thought i could use it to kind of pretend to have a pet cat.

brought it home a while later and my dad got super sick. i took it literally everywhere (church, school, the store, etc.) and my dad kept getting sicker. eventually we realized it was the cat that was giving him a reaction and my parents made me not sleep with it that night. while we slept, my dog got to it and ripped it to shreds and we realized from the surviving skin + fur what it actually was.

one of my favorite childhood stuffed animals was a super realistic stuffed cat who we found out months later was literally a real, taxidermied cat. which probably contributed to me being like this.

Not complaining* per se, but yes, sharing the prank.

Like, there IS a real donkey next door to us, along with goats, ponies, and probably some other critters. (They had a cow last year, and he sounded scary.) So J played the car-horn-donkey sound as a reply to the real-donkey. One right after the other.

I pulled up the website to confirm it was the same sound I heard, so I figured I'd share the link.

*Usually "complaining" would mean thinking of it in a negative sense, like I was bitching about earlier today. To me, this is more "wtf is happening?" observation, made in amusement. I don't want to be misunderstood, just in case. :P

Not only did I hear a second donkey just now, I think there might've been a clown horn honk. What the fuck are the neighbors doing?

(We've also had kids whining a lot lately - baby goats, we suspect. They sound like cats meowing, begging to be let inside. I have to keep telling myself that it would come from different directions if it was actually a cat.)

I really liked going to the gym regularly when I could afford it! The gym I went to had basketball, racquetball, a pool, and access to classes on yoga, Zumba, etc. so it wasn’t just weight lifting. It also gave me a place to go and do the thing, which was really helpful for my brain in remembering to actually do a thing.

I also did a quick goog based on this and apparently the model house was in Venice Beach in season 15, and then there were random forum posts etc like this

so *slams gavel* resolved. the ANTM scene was also most likely done in Venice

now it makes sense every time why when I see the palm trees and sidewalk in that Barbie scene, my brain is like, "...like in ANTM??"

why do I keep thinking the Barbie roller blading scene was filmed in the same place that that ANTM roller skating commercial (for a made up water brand??) was?

Hahaha that’s a tactful way to put it. But yeah honesty I like Loki BECAUSE he’s The Fucking Worst, my favorite Loki screentime is him being an absolute little shit, and that has led me to... not be terribly drawn to his fandom.

Mmmmmmmmmmm. I also would really like to read some of these things. Many of these things. I think the thing that bothers me about a lot of Loki fic (mostly I've read Tony/Loki...kinda just cause and also because I refuse to get into incest shippery. It's just not even remotely a little bit my thing) is that a lot of the fic excuses a lot of the things Loki has done and makes him into a victim. I mean something has to give in some places for it to even work, but at the end of the day he has done

Some really shitty stuff and it drives me nuts how much Loki gets declawed and woobified.                                                    

YEP, all of this. And I mean, I’m also here for Loki having buckets of issues and for terrible, terrible things happening to him--but taking the edge off the ways he acts out in response just spoils the fun. And also when Steve in particular is in play, Steve has gone through a lot of similar shit and turned out very differently, which makes the woobifying and excuse-making a lot harder to prop up. I would be ALL THE FUCK OVER them getting into vicious conflict or unexpectedly bonding over similar backstory issues (or both!!1), but not into using one to bash or vindicate the other. (I don’t want to bash Loki for being the Actual Worst, but I don’t want to come up with reasons why he isn’t, either. Because again, for me, Loki: Actual Worst Little Shit = THE WHOLE APPEAL.)

Oh shit if you get into Dragon Age I dunno if my heart can take it. I'm in Dragon Age hell right now.

My ability to actually play video games tops out at... Tetris, or I guess like... Candy Crush? Two Dots? Avengers Academy? And I’ve lurked/read in a lot of fandoms where I didn’t feel capable of writing due to a shaky grasp of canon; I don’t think I’d attempt to write anything without having played the game, and I am about as likely to play an entire Bioware game as I am to take up roller derby.
