Private: I started following you for bookbinding. (Also to watch it commissions will be open when my fic is ready.)
Now I’m sticking around for the political posts. They are *good.*
#biden is a good president
Thanks! Yeah, Democrats need to rally around Biden rather than ripping him a new one. I swear, people see the Republicans kissing Trump's ass, and then hear BOTH the Republicans and Democrats ragging on Biden, and figure that Trump has more support so he must be the better candidate. Especially if they're listening to rightwing news spin. People NEED to hear Democrats talking about all the good things Biden has done. He's been a very effective president and he's taking time to put things in place right, rather than in a way that can be undone as soon as the fascists take office. He not only stopped Trump, but he's putting things in place that will slow down the destruction next time (god forbid) we get a fascist elected.

These bills were introduced by Democrats, and Democrats only. The only way these bills will become law is if Democrats hold the White House and Senate, and take back the House of Rep, in 2024. Vote Democrat. The Republicans will block this law.
Holy shitballs, please do this.
"The bill would require hedge funds, defined as corporations, partnerships or real estate investment trusts that manage funds pooled from investors, to sell off all the single-family homes they own over a 10-year period, and eventually prohibit such companies from owning any single-family homes at all. During the decade-long phaseout period, the bill would impose stiff tax penalties, with the proceeds reserved for down-payment assistance for individuals looking to buy homes from corporate owners."

Attention Pennsylvania voters!
Senator Bob Casey’s race is now at a margin of 0.53%.
An automatic recount in PA is triggered with a margin of 0.5%. That’s a difference of 0.03% or a little over 2,000 votes. We need to make sure every ballot is counted here, and there’s thousands of uncounted ballots right now due to voter error.
Did you mail in a ballot? Check to see it was accepted here:
If it says anything other than accepted/counted/etc, your ballot needs your attention. A mistake in filling it out means that your ballot will not count unless you “cure” it. Check your county’s curing policies:
See full instructions for curing by county here.
You have until November 12 to cure your ballot in PA.
Do you know someone who mailed in a PA ballot? Please pass these links on to them. You may be the difference between their vote counting or not in a super close race.
Everyone else, you can help PA voters cure their ballots. If you live in Pennsylvania, you can help canvass in your county (see links in this thread). If you are in another state, you can sign up to call voters and help them cure by phone.
Want to help another state? Sign up for a shift through November 19.
#signal boost#us politics#kamala harris#pennsylvania#bob casey#us elections#if you’re feeling sad i promise this work will help lift your spirits#it feels good helping empower voters to make sure their vote counts#pennsylvania has tons of rules with mail in ballots where voters can make mistakes#the harris votes in pa are most suspicious to me#we just learned all the pa democrats in the state legislature held onto their seats#highly unusual for harris to be so low if downticket races are doing this good and bob casey is this close#a recount would mean all ballots recounted and charged to the state not the campaign#edited the signup links to go directly to the mobilize pages#if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask#by my count we still have 16 house races too close to call and the seats are 199-211 currently so every seat counts to hold trump back#full instructions link is now updated

You know what I cannot wait for? The day we have an election and we don’t have to say vote like your life depends on it because it does. This man has seeped into every facet of our lives for almost TEN years. Think about that. With one simple vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz he’s cooked-forever, and we won’t have to deal with that urgency again. We can have real policy debates and make actual progress again, once he is gone for good. So let’s do this thing one last time let’s vote like our lives depend on it and get back a better politic.

genuinely would love for some of the "both parties are the same" people to name me a single election in the entirety of the twenty first century where the outcome for the country wouldn't have been better if a democrat had won
#personal#like come on we all know shit would have been amazingly better if the supreme court hadn't couped al gore#kerry would have also been infinitely better than bush too#i'm very glad we got two years of obama rather than a mccain presidency or a romney presidency#and honestly if you think hillary would have been worse than trump or that biden has been worse than trump#or that kamala will somehow be worse than trump 2.0 as he attempts to install himself as fascist dictator for life#you're not a serious person and shouldn't be allowed outside without an adult and also should probably get smacked in the head#with a cast iron pan#every american presidential election for my entire life has very obviously been 'the democrat is infinitely better than the republican'#and has only gotten moreso as i've grown up#hell every election in general is still showing that dems are better than republicans#democrats control the house? they get stuff down#republicans control the house? they go to recess early and are legit gearing up to shut down the government in october#(of an ELECTION YEAR god please let republicans singlehandedly shut down the government a month before election day)#(as a republican tries to take back the white house please god it would be so fucking funny to watch them deal with that)#but like yeah literally vote blue no matter who because i've been alive for twenty five whole years#and in those twenty five years never once has the republican been remotely the better option or even the 'lesser of two evils' option

not to be agro but like. Do not fucking kill yourself over that orange man. Over politics. Over this
I don’t care who you are or where you live. Nothing is worth dying over and this certainly isn’t either
#This is not very sympathetic of me but I am so! tired! Of seeing people be blatantly suicidal over this#This is not the end of the world! It’s probably gonna suck for 4 years#But if every democrat goes and kills themselves over losing this election#Who’s gonna vote for them in the next?#And not only that#but if you kill yourself#That’s one less LGBTQ person in the world#Which is bad for a NUMBER of reasons#Don’t fucking die over that asshat. Don’t even think about it.#We’re gonna tough it out and come out just fine on the other side.

In light of what is about to happen, I would just like to send a very heartfelt
JESUSCHRISTWHATISWRONGWITHYOU,YOUCOWARDS
To all of you, so called liberals, who decided not to vote.
Your cowardice spoke volumes.
"Oh, I could not possibly vote for Harris, what about Palestine"
Trump will be worse for Gaza, guaranteed.
"Harris does not support trans people"
Trump will be worse for LGBTQ rights, guaranteed.
"Democrats did not make abortion into law"
Trump is ALREADY worse for women's reproductive rights.
You decided to show how disappointed you are with the Democratic party by letting the Republicans win? Then you chose to condemn people with your inaction.
"How could the good people of X conflict/genocide/tragedy let that happen??"
Like this. Exactly like this.
#americans truly are insane#moral high ground were#democratic values who#you just made your lives immensely harder#a platform of hate won#us elections#i will shame every single one of you aholes#i stood in line for 9 hours to be able to vote in my country#and our situation was not as dire#you guys are an embarrasment#you should have at least grown a pair an voted for trump#because clearly you wanted to

Hey guys remember to vote tomorrow, I know it doesn’t feel like it but EVERY vote counts especially if you’re in a swing state. I know that not many will read this or listen to me but it is very important you vote blue. I know both options suck but Donald Trump and project 2025 will take away many of our rights as Americans and get many killed. Please if you care about women, queer people and many other groups vote Kamala Harris for president
Remember you can get accommodations for disabilities while voting like having a person to assist you, in some places you can even vote in your car. They are required to even if they say they aren’t.
The younger generation often doesn’t vote as much, let’s change that! gen z if you care about your rights vote please
#Vote Kamala Harris for president
Even if you are not American please share this post and others to help

I'm filling out my mail-in ballot tonight (thank you BallotReady and Injustice Watch for your collection of candidate information). I like to research everyone, even those running for the county clerk, and have noticed patterns to how I'm filtering out candidents:
1) If they don't have a website, I'm not considering them. If i cannot research you, I can't evaluate how you'd do the job. Also, it's 2024. You should have a website, even if it's a single page.
2) If the reason they're running, or their main issue, is doing better than the person currently doing the job and rooting out corruption, I'm not considering them. I don't just want to know you're better - I want to know your plan. Also, if the water commissioner was really bad at their job I'm pretty sure I'd notice.
3) If they're advocating for work policies I don't like (such as 5 days mandatory in the office), I'm not considering them. I was actually surprised at how hard a 'nope' this was for me until I ran across it.
I'm a little uncomfortable with myself how arbitrary these are and not based on say, the actual politics of a candidate. (Maybe someone without a website is amazing!) But it's also so wild how these three filters pretty much eliminate all Republican candidates.
Democrats, and Libertarians, almost always have websites listing their experience and issues, often including plan outlines and term objectives. And that's really what I want in office - someone who is communicative and has goals and ideals that line up with mine.
I know what my political beliefs are, but it's just kinda wild going down this ballot and realizing that's not what I'm using to narrow down my choice. It's accessibility.

in the interest of complacency, here are some screenshots of polls right up until november 8, 2016:
(from this website) - there are many more polls in here, but i just took a screenshot of one bunch as an example. the graph is made of an aggregate of 1,106 polls total.
you cannot trust the polls. hillary clinton was up in the polls pretty much her entire campaign by a huge margin and she still lost. the only way to ensure that the polls reflect true is to increase voter registration, ensure people go out and actually vote, and make sure people know what's at stake this election.
also, i got a few people saying that the democratic party isn't appealing to single-issue voters re: my last post. and you're right. they're not. kamala's speech on the war in gaza was shoehorned and empty at best, and reflected that same zionist outlook we've been watching pretty much the whole time. but the whole point of that post was to urge people to elect a president who would actually listen, and to look at all the other issues that are also at stake in this election.
it's so fucking shitty that we have to come down to that, but we have a greater chance of getting what we want re: palestine if kamala's president than if trump is re-elected. not to mention kamala will protect women's rights, reproductive rights, queer rights, cut taxes for middle-classes, and reduce debt (and more). trump endeavours to do the exact opposite, and his support for netanyahu is far greater than kamala's or even joe biden's is.
i also think that people are seeing trump as "the devil we know" since he's been in power once and we know what he'd be like as a president, but in reality, him being in power once nearly broke the democracy. him being in power twice will finish the job.
the anger at the biden-harris administration resulting in people not voting for kamala harris will only punish american citizens for generations to come.
#zee rambles#us politics#kamala harris#donald trump#election 2024#us elections#america#democrats#democracy#2024 elections#2024 presidential election#american politics#i totally get it because im just as pissed off#but the prospect of a second trump term scares me beyond belief#every time i want to make a shorter post i end up babbling#and if you want to threaten to say that you're gonna vote uncommitted all the way up to the election by all means do that#but please don't let the ballot reflect a vote for trump
