Tell us about ur rogue trader!!!!
Oh god, this is so much pressure so suddenly. I don't actually have the writing chops of all these tumblr regular oc'er creatives. Oh well, here goes.
Strumm Von Valancius is a thirty-something man. He's very big and very buff, but with somewhat of a gut. He has shifty, small eyes and a massive jawline which puts even that of most space marines to shame.
Oh, there he is. Not an exact likeness.
Not specifically dogmatic, iconoclast or heretic. Self-interested centrist run.
Strumm Von Valancius was born on an imperial world into a long line of Navis Imperials officers. As such he himself joined the imperial navy, and distinquished himself in both good and bad. Good, in that he clearly had strong leadership abilities (Officer archetype) and a penchant for brave deeds (illustrious valor). Bad, in that he reguarly received punitive measures for relationships with women working on-ship while on duty (sadly the character creator in game doesn't let you alter bulge size). This included the likes of fellow voidsmen, technomats, serfs, at least one astropath, and even his commanding officer once. In spite of that however, his outrageous acts of valor on the line of duty helped him climb the ranks, which was all for his eventual goal of commandeering a chartist vessel. You see, long before he even had even considered the possiblity of being a rogue trader, while still a growing boy, Strumm had come across a book, a clearly heretical one, which detailed an image of the mostly, but not strictly, female specimens of various xenos races, very differently from how they had been described in your average imperial propaganda, with very "evocative" anatomical drawings and describtions. From that day on Strumm had a dream: to stride across the stars and savor every flavor of alien poontang the galaxy had to offer!
As for in game, post becoming a Rogue Trader, Strumm had been slightly less atrocious in misusing the excessive privilege he has been granted then he even himself expected. For all the partying and fun he can make happen, he's really not a fan of all the responsibility that came with the position, and so far has just kinda been winging it. He's also surprised by just how difficult it has been for him to continue his womanizing ways while at this high perch. Due to now holding such a high position, it's basically impossible for him to try to woo 99% of the ladies on ship without them feeling compelled to do it due to his status, which would make it impossible for him to determine if it's fully consensual and wanted on their part or not. The only ones he feels like he knows well enough for this to not be an issue are those in his retinue, and he sure has been getting to know many of them closely, striking up relationships with the lady navigator, the cold trader from footfall and his definitely crazy cultist ninja bodyguard. But much to his frustration, Yrliet has been a tough nut to crack. So much so that rather then the easy alien lay he had been hoping for before moving onto the next, she's basically been forcing him to learn how to actually get to know and like the women he spends time with as people, and he's probably actually in love with her now. Uh oh!
He gets along the best with Jae, as both have permanent grins plastered on their faces and share a similarly faked manner to hide their true selves, and they both enjoy similar pleasures in life.
He initally was annoyed when he realized that Argenta and Idira are basically a no go as far as his regular act with the ladies goes, but over time he begun to appreciate them as companions much more. Idira in particular is a regular friend to go for drinks and laughs with him.
Has little opinion on Pasqal, or on mechancius folks in general. Very different priorities. Appreciates his good work though.
Enjoys what he has going on with Cassia, but also is starting to feel bad about basically stringing her along with the whole "proper courting" routine.
Kibellah scares the shit out of him, but keeps her around for the protection and the nookie.
Just met Ulfar so is pretty unsure of him. Feels a bit upstaged by him frankly.
Could not stand Heinrix, or Calcazar for that matter. Told them to take a hike the first chance he got.
Abelard reminds him of his dad, which is why he doesn't care for him much. Though he understands that Abelard is invaluable as a seneschal.
So yeah, that's Strumm Von Valancius. What a dirtbag.
#im sure this anon is not happy with what they got but you know#gotta be real here#rogue trader#warhammer 40k rogue trader#rogue trader oc#long

WH40K Homebrew Space Marine Chapter: Stormwolves — September 2024 Update
(Yes, I know it's the First of October)
It's been about a month since the Agents of the Imperium Codex was published by Games Workshop. In late September, they issued their PDF of FAQs and Errata for the book. That means time for me to update the army list for my Homebrew Chapter (last posted about here). I will detail these updates under the cut.
I've also been working in Hero Forge on creating some more supporting characters, taking advantage of their new kitbashing feature.
For example, here's my take on a Voidmaster to lead a Voidsmen-At-Arms unit, as viewed through the lens of the "1st Selene Contingent" Rogue Trader's elite guard concept I'd come up with for my homebrew. I particularly like how the artificer-built mastercrafted shotgun turned out on this.
I feel the shotgun looks the part better than the one carried by the official GW mini for the equivalent character:
And here's a better look at the Hero Forge Kitbash-built Laspistol at her hip.
As for the new Errata document, unfortunately, it did not make the Corvus Blackstar a dedicated transport as it should have been. Also, it didn't even fix the obvious error that lets the Imperial Rhino transport any other model from the Imperial Agent Army Roster, not just the intended infantry, letting you stick other vehicles inside like a Russian Nesting Doll.
What the errata did change involves the limited number of units you can take when using Imperial Agents in other armies. There are different categories of units: Character/Retinue/Requisition, and you're very limited in how many of each that you can ally in to another force.
However, there were two Retinue Units that under the rules as originally published, didn't count against the limit if they were attached as Bodyguard to certain Character Units. This got changed so that you don't have to attach them any more.
This was nice, because I preferred to have my Rogue Trader attached to an Imperial Navy Breachers Bodyguard instead of just the free Voidsmen-At-Arms. But my previous Army List was already maxed out on Retinue Units, even with the Freebie.
So, Instead of using Deathwatch Kill Team (formerly Deathwatch Veterans pre-codex) to represent my "Control" command squad, I switched to using Sternguard to free up a Retinue Unit slot. This was an idea I'd considered before, but rejected since the current statblock is supposed to be for Primaris Sternguard and Control is supposed to be Firstborn.
However, Sternguard Marines existed years before GW introduced the Primaris, and they say if you have the older models just use the best statblock that fits, so I decided to just roll with it as is.
Sure, the current Sternguard statblock has a keyword that prevents them from riding in Rhinos and Razorbacks, but I'd taken their Rhino away in a previous army list revision anyway. Gave them a Repulsor Executioner instead. And switching to Sternguard let me give them as many Combi-Weapons as I wanted again, bringing them back to my original vision.
I also finally got a chance to look over the new update to the Boarding Actions Rules. While the Space Marines got three different Boarding Patrol options, I was disappointed that Phobos Armor was restricted to just one Patrol, and you couldn't just mix it with the other types.
But I found a loophole. The Boarding Strike Patrol list didn't prevent you from taking Phobos Armored characters. So I snuck one in.
I was also a bit disappointed to find that unlike the seemingly more freeform Boarding Actions rules from the beginning of 10E last year, the new rules expect you to stick to all Chapter specific restrictions if you include marines from any particular Chapter. This meant I could no longer put Apothecaries into a Space Wolves Boarding Patrol. But it wasn't worth it to even try anyways, as they took all the useful bits off the Apothecary when you use them in a Boarding Actions game.
Even with the changes, it's a fun way to get a more Space Wolf flavored version of my Stormwolves homebrew chapter, to contrast with the Imperial Agent Allies version.
I've also been exploring another facet of my Stormwolves, the fact that a company of them is supposed to be assigned as support for a Rogue Trader's fleet.
While I could have represented this with one of the Detachments from the Imperial Agents Codex (and still might), I realized that there were a lot of suitable units from the Imperial Guard Index and Legends Sheets, that would make good rules proxies for an army of Void Troopers serving under my Rogue Trader character.
Picked a lot of 4+ Armor Save Units comparable to the void armored troops from Imperial Agents (and a handful of 5+ to round out the list). Since I was shooting for a 1K list for this, I could only ally in one Unit of Marines, but overall, I'm happy with the list.

So Agents of the Imperium are a legit faction now?
Because look at that, they got their own Boarding Patrol now. Navy Breachers, Voidsmen, Ecludian Starstriders (is Rogue Traders), and - probably the weirdest pick - an Eversor Assassin.
Is that a sign that Agents of the Imperium get their own codex/army detachments in the future? Until now they had been a really weird add-on for imperial factions, but that might change in the future.

Not expecting this to get any notes, this is more for myself cus I'm bored
Foehn-Amicus: Reject. Vanguard. Redeemer.
Born on Incron, Foehn-Amicus would have lived a life of drudgery of a filtration worker had her life not been changed by the arrival of the Lunar Class Cruiser Tempest. Fresh from the Fringe War, the ship was in need of crew replenishment and Foehn was one of many to be press ganged into service upon the Tempest, the incident leaving her an orphan when her parents resisted. Alone and ripped away from home, Foehn found not much change in her life, simply trading the dragging of algae tanks to the lugging of munitions. But, fortune found Foehn and she caught the attention of a veteran voidsmen who found potential in her steely gaze. Trained alongside other aspirants, Foehn was inducted into the Voidsmen of the Tempest at the tender age of 17. It was here she honed her sense of command and discipline. She quickly rose through to a squad leader at only 23, an inspiring and imposing presence. Her life changed when the Tempest returned to Incron to restock. She had run afoul with a noble of moderate standing whom she assaulted after they had made a comment upon the Fringe War. The incident led to a charge of insubordination that saw her rank, and even place on the Tempest stripped away from her. She was picked up by the Tancred Bastion on route to a penal colony. Of course, this is what started her path to becoming a Reject. Though in the beginning she attempted to portray herself with the same aura of command as her service with the Voidsmen, she quickly found the hive of Tertium to be a much different battleground. The commanding presence painted her a target, to both the heretics looking to knock her lights out and a specific few of her fellow rejects. She found herself changing strategy, keeping her fellow rejects in the fight was more important than the minutia of how they did it. When she had finally cleared her name and officially joined Inquisitor Grenyl's warband, she was a unique kind of squad leader. Often she would slip into the shadows of the hive to either execute a priority target or give a hand to a fallen comrade, before leading the charge as the vanguard to her squad. Though some of her fellow veterans rib her for her straight laced tendencies, and she gets into more than a few fights with the preachers, Foehn-Amicus is both the blazing vanguard of the emperor and the helping hand to the martyrs of another day.
#me really enjoying the agrippina shotgun was just a pleasant coincidence for the backstory lol#yes I am writing lore for my character for why I switched from mainly playing Voice of Command Vet to Infiltrator Vet#warham#darktide#my writing#darktide era Foehn is like. 30-ish#she had a good 10 years as a Voidswoman

Rules and Dramatis Persona
Rules:
This is a fairly casual 40k rp blog. I like to keep things informal.
However I do appreciate it when my rp partner puts some love and effort into their posts. You get back what you put in.
Also please bear with me. My response times vary from immediate to a week or two. Feel free to message me to check in, but I'm probably just busy dealing with the far less interesting real world.
Dramatis Persona:
Lady Aurora: Lady Aurora Sabina Katerine Sanguine is the current leader of House Sanguine, a venerable and ancient Rogue Trader dynasty who can trace their lineage back to the explorator fleets of the Great Crusade. Aurora is a dignified, classy woman of wit and wile, who can be a cold and calculating enemy, or a surprisingly altruistic ally. House Sanguine always pays its debts.
Ruxandra: Ruxandra is Aurora's iron fisted Master at Arms, she oversees the training of House Sanguine's voidsmen, and is responsible for all aspects of the House's security. She is a no nonsense woman whose blood is a mix of ice and war, and little else.
Inquisitor Kassandra: Kassandra of the Ordo Xenos has had a long standing relationship with house Sanguine, and has often booked passage upon the Voluptas, and some of their other vessels plying the frontiers of the Imperium. She is a puritan, a pragmatic one at that.
And in recent years has formed an alliance of convenience with another of her kind, an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor who shares her concerns regarding the Frontier.
Lady Myranda 'Fellfair' of Dusk's Teeth: A freeblade pilot sworn to house Sanguine's service. Lady Myranda pilots Dusk's Teeth, a Knight Gallant of notorious fame. Myranda has a larger than life personality, an avid reveler, teller of tales, and lover of drunken brawls. Things are never quiet around her. Until you bring up her past...
Floraine: Floraine is a Wayseer, wanderer and former Corsair turned outcast who originally hailed from Craftworld Iybraesil, who now finds herself tied to Aurora and her vessel by a contract she cannot escape from. However she has grown fond of her 'savage' and 'barbaric' crewmates over time. Floraine is also notably the finest navigator the Voluptas has ever seen.
Enginseeress Selene: The Voluptas resident Enginseer and Tech-Adept. Selene hails from the Forge World of Delphi and amongst her impressive resume, Selene is an Enginseer as well as adept of the Logi temple, as well as a fair hand at chemistry (even to the point of being able to make and administer rejuvenat treatments). Selene is largely unaugumented for a woman of her status. With her outward augmentations largely consisting of subtle bionic eyes, the occasional data port and a series of articulated tendrils sprouting from her back. Although on the inside she has reinforced or replaced her bones with flexible and incredibly strong alloys of metal, making this otherwise fleshy tech priestess remarkably strong and hardy. Selene and the sisterhood of Delphi are also unusual in that they often do not hide their features when outside a workshop, allowing everyone to see her tanned skin and short blonde hair.

The Grenadier Guards are the elite Regimental Stormtroopers of the Praetorian Guard, chosen from handpicked Praetorian veterans. They are sorted out from their peers for physical strength, mental acuity, and loyalty. Once selected, the candidates are put through grueling live fire training on the nearby world of Bakka. As Bakka is the Segmentum Naval Base, the Grenadier Guards often train alongside the Imperial Navy’s Voidsmen-at-Arms. Weathering the inhospitable conditions of that planet makes them hardened fighters, who lead the Praetorian attack with swift, overwhelming force.

First batch of the new Atlantic Games sci fi line. Napoleonic space soldiers.
For my collection, i will use these to proxy ‘voidsmen’ (hence the minigun). Additionally there is enough to be imperial guard infantry/shocktroops.
Colours inspired by vostoyan first born and the imperial army from the horus heresy novels (the janizary).
9 done, 14 to go.
Also on the paint table: sternguard, and imperium magazine’s space marine bikes, and random necrons.
