Costa is in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney with good friends Manu and Jude, lending a hand with a garden project for a neighbour. Their mission is to set a tea patch and wicking bed planters for a member of Manu’s Farm It Forward movement, Riri, who is vision impaired.

Riri explains that she lost her eyesight more than 30 years ago but she never had the courage or confidence to walk down her street on her own, as there are no footpaths. But when she heard that Farm It Forward had set up at the end of her street she took the plunge to walk down there. “I met Manu and that’s how it all started,” she says.

“When you can’t see, you tend to stay indoors a lot,” Riri says, “but this will get me out.”

To create two no-dig patches, Manu and Jude first lay down some cardboard across the whole area to help suppress weeds. The sticky tape and staples have to be removed first. Next, they build two long rows of compost and soil mix to form the raised no-dig beds, leaving a pathway in the middle between the beds that they then cover with mulch.

At the end, two wicking beds are made up and planted out.

When the work is complete, the team invites Riri out to help her explore her new gardens.

So this is going to sound Crazy, but part of why i've been so inactive lately has been because I was lucky enough to have been selected alongside 6 of my friends in Animation to get shipped out to Winton, Australia to spend a 2 weeks making an animated short for their Vision Splendid film festival.

Together, we got to work with locals, film students, Student composers, festival hosts and first nations elders to create a collection of Animated Haikus celebrating this wonderful town, but get to know ourselves and this country in a way we never even would have considered before.

And as if that wasn't enough to make us jump up and down, flapping out hands in joy... guys... We won the Kolperi Award! A first for animation in the entire 11 year history of the festival!

So thank you thank you thank you for everyone who made it possible for me and my friends to experience Winton. It's something i'll be treasuring for the rest of my days.

Each year, the importance of braille is celebrated on World Braille Day.

For many people who are blind or have low vision, braille is vital tool when it comes to accessing and producing written material. World Braille Day falls is celebrated on January 4 as that’s the date Louis Braille, the Frenchman who invented the braille alphabet, was born. Louis Braille was only 11 years old when he began developing the braille alphabet while a student at Paris’ Royal Institute for Blind Youths. He was motivated to invent a system that would provide people who are blind with access to information by touch, but also a system that could be produced efficiently. Louis Braille was inspired by fellow Frenchmen Charles Barbier, who had attempted to develop a tactile communication system that could be used by the military. It took nine years for Louis Braille to develop his alphabet, which has been the basis for braille used across the world for nearly 200 years. Vision Australia on World Braille Day 2024.

Trust that being on Divine’s strongest list, is a thing of the past. You are graduating. You are coming out of the darkness and into a positive gentle state of being. Everything you’ve learned in the darkness, will be necessary for the blessed journey ahead. YOU ARE THE LIGHT. Illuminate what is on the inside of you, outward. Wherever you are, shine. You’re stepping into a season where everything you touch will be blessed. Everything connected to you will prosper. You are entering into a season of wealth beyond what you can imagine. Pay attention to the signs and synchronicities. Every room you walk into, will honor you.
