Santae Kickstarter Making Waves!

The official Santae Kickstarter is underway now, and we are absolutely thrilled at the outpouring of support from our community. Not only was our goal fully funded in 28 Minutes, we’ve also already achieved four of our exciting stretch goals!

We’ve now unlocked 2 new Pet Colors, 5x HTML5 Games, a new Pet Species and Pet Auras and Backgrounds — and our next stretch goal, another brand new pet species, is right around the corner!

Beanie Babies 2.0

Hello everyone! Old toy companies have taken to the trend of rebooting past toy lines, and like me, I'm sure many reading this have been enjoying the hell out of that. Last week I learned they started making the old beanie babies without the gaudy eyes again and I've been obsessed.

SO! Once upon a time around 2010 or so, when Webkinz ruled the Earth, TY tried their hand at a virtual pet site. This was called Beanie Babies 2.0 or BB2.0 for short.

Although it never gained the momentum Webkinz had, the UI felt more charming and, if the site had remained active, would have aged a lot better than Webkinz did in my opinion. (The site closed down in 2013.)

It's a long shot, but I've asked TY during this phase of childhood reboots to consider reopening the website. The chances are hella slim, but if anyone else wants to contribute, you can write to TY here: Ty Shop US | Sites-Ty-Site

If you want a game with even MORE genetic potential, try Flying For Home! It's a horse racing SIM that's been open since 2013. Not only are there realistic colour genetics as well as realistic racing genes (that is, aptitude for certain track surfaces and race distances, as well as other factors such as genetic predispositions for racing style), there are MANY more factors than simply the horse's genes that are heritable! I have been playing Furry Paws, because I literally used to do Punnett squares for fun, and I’ve never seen another petsite with this much genetic experimentation power.  And the art is cute.

Just now I sorted some dogs by level, because I wanted to see who was getting high enough level for me to breed.  These are my highest-level Chihuahuas right now.

(side note: The three-letter code at the start of each name represents the dog’s current sports title.  Then for the actual name, I generally either use one that amuses me, or just go with the in-game randomizer.  There is one amusement name here and the rest are random.)

“Oh, but I’ve already bred Cody and Sophie,” I thought to myself.  “I’ll take a look at the others, see if it looks like their genetics line up nicely.

“Ha!  There’s a Buddy and a Holly.  Oh, and they actually would go pretty well together.  That would mean that, out of my basically-randomly-named Chihuahuas, the last potential breeding pair would be…

“…..,,.,.,,…,”

OH COME ON.  I can’t put those two together, everyone will assume the names were on purpose!!
