BHOC: BRING ON THE BAD GUYS
As I talked about yesterday, for Christmas 1978 I was given the four existing volumes in the Marvel Origins trade paperback collection that up to that point existed. I had read SON OF ORIGINS OF MARVEL COMICS at my local library, but I was happy to have my own copy to go back to and review. But once ORIGINS had been consumed, I made my way into the next book I hadn’t yet read, which was this one.…

Barbie and Ken's Comic Journey
Dell Publishing in New York published Barbie and Ken comics beginning in 1962, during a time when comic books were a popular source of entertainment. They featured art by noted American comic-book artists Vince Colletta and John Tartaglione. This is the fifth and final issue, published in November 1963. The comics marked Barbie and Ken’s debut in a comic book format. This issue features members of the Barbie Fan Club sharing their imaginary adventures with the iconic duo; Barbie and the Arts; Barbie's Theatre Group; and a one-pager about Barbie's friend and fellow doll, Midge. The stories exhibited traditional values and cultural norms of that era, reflecting wholesome and timeless themes. After this comic, Barbie comics were next featured in the Mattel-owned Barbie magazine in 1964.

SUPERMAN'S PAL, JIMMY OLSEN (vol. 1) #139 (July, 1971).
Okay, forget the fact that Jack Kirby somehow was able to work famed comedian Don Rickles onto the cover and in the story.
What I really want to draw your attention to is this cover being another example of the powers-that-be at DC Comics reworking Kirby's art. Artist Murphy Anderson was employed to re-draw both Superman's and Jimmy's faces to make them more in line with DC's house style for the characters.
And Goody Rickles? Look, yer just gonna have to read the story yerself, 'cause I can't explain it.
