Dream

Rivers had made a clothing line and I’d been sent catalogue and solo album on vinyl in the post! I was opening it and looking through the pages it was all eco hippy stuff like the Peruvian hats he’s worn and stuff you find at festivals, woollen clothes and knitted/woven stuff. There were a couple of samples too - a pair of socks I remember getting in the pack like these thick, Scandinavian type woollen fishermen’s socks! I am wearing big fluffy socks for bed - so maybe my feet were too hot!

Anyway then I was having a tour of his house! And he came back home! He was single (a divorced dad - a merge of my friend’s boyfriend) with his kids and they had their nanny/ au pair with them - a young Chinese or Korean girl who was very chatty and energetic. The daughter asked her if they could watch tiktok videos. She said “yes but only the ones you’re allowed to see”. I asked what age you had to be to have tiktok now as I dread my kids asking. She said it was for 17 year olds (!!!) and I remember being really surprised in the dream - but actually I wish that was the case!

He was cooking himself something to eat (this is where he sort of turned into my own husband for a second) but then he was talking about his skin care routine. He said “I put this stuff on, it really works - look” and he asked me to touch his face (!!!!) I did and it felt very smooth but cold. I had expected it to be warm and I said so. He said something like “it’ll be warm later, it’s just after you take this stuff off, because it freezes it. “

Then we were sitting around talking about how hard it is being parents. He was on the corner settee on the long bit with his feet up. He was asking about my kids. My IRL friend Jo K was there and he’d asked us if we’d done “???” I can’t quite remember what he said but he used an expression or word like “suckle” (that’s from me reading that line that Lady Macbeth says about letting the baby suckle from me but I’d dash its head if I was told to). Anyway I assumed he meant breastfeeding So I said of course, and we talked about breastfeeding for a while and how hard everything is when they’re really little, I was glad they’re a bit older now etc. It was all like a normal gathering of moms and dads, only I fancied one of the dads😅 the kids were playing in another room and coming in and out while we talked, we may have been in the garden, we were definitely still at his house - the room with all the doors that open onto garden.

Anyway my eyes pinged open at 6am and I wrote this down! Every single part of this dream was like a recent memory of something that’s happened or a conversation I’ve had with somebody lately and my memory was just throwing them all up in the air. Which I suppose is what dreams are but it’s always nice when they involve Rivers!
