Wicked System of Things - Matthew Sweet

This is another RSD Black Friday release limited to 1500 copies. Matt played a show with Cheap Trick in early 2017 and planned to record with Rick Nielson later that year. He wrote a bunch of songs but it was never to be. Instead he finished the album on his own and this is the result.

Upon first listen, all the great Matthew Sweet hooks are here...from the great harmonies to the jangley guitar. The production is a bit low, but it's a nice snapshot of where Matt was at that time. And some beautiful marbled vinyl to boot!

I couldn’t make it out for Record Store Day today, so my husband was nice enough to go by himself. He managed to snag the three albums we desperately wanted. Brawlers, Bawlers, and Bastards (all from the Orphans collection.) This was an RSD exclusive so we feel super lucky and happy to have it now! I never finished my RSD 2018 collection... This is a 2000 run of the B-52's live in 98 on translucent yellow vinyl. Older than their heyday, but still 20 years ago. Whenever they come through town I try and see them. Always a good time! Their first album was so amazingly odd that my friends and I were hooked immediately. Fond memories hearing these tunes.

Where all my father's that dig at? This is a scene from my book Furqan's First Flat Top. Had to put that in the book because I love music and records. I grew up with them and I plan to pass them on to my son some day. Just wanted to remind folks that its record store day and to go support your local record store by buying vinyl, tapes, cd's whatever you can still play in your home or car.
