To all who at one time or another raised their right hands and put country and constitution above personal comfort and safety, thank you.
Duty station, higher headquarters, rank, MOS, or color of the Class As are immaterial. The only things that do matter are the oath taken and that often mentioned blank check that was given to the US for any amount up to and including life itself. The check may not have been cashed but it was signed in good faith. The oath? Well, that never expires. It is an honorable burden for life.

In this special Veterans Day 2024 episode of the FYI podcast, host Paul Tully sits down with a panel of U.S. veterans from National Core to discuss their military service experiences and the values they carry forward today. The panel features inspiring stories from Robert Diaz, a JAG Officer in the U.S. Army; Terry Kick, a U.S. Navy Flight Technician and Firefighter specializing in crash and salvage operations; Eric Grimes, a combat medic and Supply Specialist (92 Yankee); and Cory Demico, a former Army Ranger and infantryman with the Ranger Battalion (11 Bravo One Victor).
Together, they share what inspired them to serve, their leadership lessons from the military, and how their time in the U.S. military shaped their transition to civilian life. Each guest reflects on how these experiences now guide their work at National Core, an organization dedicated to building communities and transforming lives. Their stories highlight the parallels between their roles in the military and their dedication to community service today.
Listeners will connect with these heartfelt reflections on military service benefits, leadership, camaraderie, and resilience. This episode also delves into the difficult transition from military to civilian life, offering insights into how veterans, including those from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, and beyond, continue to contribute meaningfully after their service. Themes of sacrifice, teamwork, and honoring the past are woven into this Veterans Day tribute, making it a must-watch for anyone seeking Veterans Day inspiration or a deeper understanding of what it means to serve.
As we honor the sacrifices of our U.S. veterans, this episode invites viewers to consider their own ability to serve, whether through leadership, teamwork, or community efforts. Don’t miss this powerful Veterans Day podcast that celebrates the courage, dedication, and enduring impact of those who served.

"Prince Harry's military service was a formative part of his life.
"The Duke of Sussex served in the British Army for ten years, including two tours of Afghanistan, and now, one of his main philanthropic focuses is to advocate for the well-being of veterans and military families—including through his Invictus Games.
"In honor of Veterans Day in the U.S. today and Remembrance Day in the UK yesterday, Harry penned a letter to his fellow veterans, writing, 'I reaffirm my lifelong admiration and appreciation for the service and sacrifice you and your families have made.' He added that it was a time of 'global uncertainty' and encouraged veterans to 'remember the unity and purpose that defined your service, and do not hesitate to put that into action in your communities.'"

It’s November 11th everyone, and that means it’s Remembrance Day or Veterans Day or Armistice Day (or Poppy Day) 2024; depending on the region, all the days do have the similar origins: It’s a day meant to honour and pay tribute to the many soldiers, men, women and many more and those who worked, fought, served and passed away in the armed forces in all wars and worldwide conflicts. We take the time to appreciate, pay tribute and honour their memories, services and work through a two minute period of silence as a way to saying immense gratitude and thank yous to the fallen and by wearing poppies whether artificial or natural 🌺 and by writing letters & cards to either veterans or listening/wanting to reach out to them and hear their stories. This practice began when World War I ended on November 11th 1918 through the signing of the Armistice as a way to resolve and declare peace negotiations and the rest is history. And so that’s what happened. So on this Remembrance Day/Veterans Day, Armistice Day and or Poppy Day,(+ Remembrance Sunday 2024) take the time to wear a poppy, partake in the 2 minutes of silence as way to say thank you to the courageous and dedicated soldiers who gave their lives to protect and make sure that we could live today in this day and age and write a letter/spend some time with veterans. Lest we forget and to the soldiers who passed away: we are incredibly & immensely grateful for your work, services, dedication, commitment, courage and sacrifices and we wish you an incredible afterlife up in the golden skies above and your names will be remembered though monuments, pictures, memories and poppies. Remembrance/Veterans/Armistice Day 2024.
