Almost didn’t believe this was real, it’s such an interesting looking space. Found the image on facebook and pinterest also saying it is a 1969 swimming pool though, so I believe it’s real.

Apparently it’s a German pool, designed by Verner Panton. The pinterest caption specified that it was built for the Spiegel Publishing House.

And, if you google Spiegel Publishing House, a site that appears to be focused on Verner Panton has images of other rooms in the building, plus a brief description of what exactly he designed - which included things like the lamps and wall cladding. The other rooms are very colorful too, so I guess Panton was given the go ahead to do pretty much whatever designs he wanted. Or maybe he was famous for being so involved in his creations and such behavior was expected?

His name led me to a Wikipedia article that appears to be about him and says he is very famous, but it doesn’t have a lot of sources attached so I don’t know how much to lean into it. (Although it does mention the Spiegel Publishing House as one of his works among a list of others, so perhaps the info is true despite the lack of sources?)

The Wikipedia article says he is “considered one of Denmark’s most influential 20th-century furniture and interior designers.” So he is undoubtedly more popular and probably more well known in Denmark and maybe Germany. If any Danes or Germans or people who have studied this period of interior design have more information on him or similar designers, I would welcome the info!

(Particularly if it leads to more pictures of interior design like this pool room. It is a very striking image.)

I will say I get the vibe that a lot of peoples interest and support for strikers is a bit too much for a vicarious ‘burn it down’ thrill, rather than for the actual goals of a strike.

Like UPS has agreed to come back to the table and it is very possible they will concede to Union demands and avert a strike. And if that happens (so long as the union does not make concessions on its key demands) it’s a good thing. It’s a victory for the laborers. It is the same ultimate conclusion that a strike would intend to produce except without the workers having to go on (not so great) strike pay for a week or two.

guy who is soooo pleased whenever he notices you checking him out…… eyes trailing across his chest when it’s bare at the beach or when he’s wearing a tight shirt, straining around his pecs or his abdomen, eyeing his lips or staring at his big hands, his pretty, polished nails…… sneaking glances at his exposed neck…….. it drives him crazy when you shamelessly appreciate the effort he puts into looking good for you <333 or just his body in general. ogling him like a piece of meat. he has to pretend like it doesn’t affect him, doesn’t want to come off as smug or egoistical but you can tell he’s pleased just by looking at his smile or the way he seems to stand a little taller, proud to be your arm candy ………..

Even after learning their secret identities, the hero community always insisted that there was something inhuman about the bats. No one doubted that their intensive training had a lot to do with it, but it never quite explained how they could evade a Kryptonian's super senses, how they could melt into shadows, how they could function so long with little food, little rest, little oxygen if need be. Most people dismissed their uneasy feelings, but there was something strange about the bats, something uncanny, something that made them different from the arrows and other vanilla human members. And, slowly enough that no one really noticed, it was getting stronger.

Until one day, during a diplomatic meeting with the ruler of the Infinite Realms, when High King Phantom turned to Batman and his brood and literally brightened. "Oh! I didn't know you had liminal members!"

Or: through a variety of factors (proximity to death, their own death/near death experiences, exposure to the Lazarus Pits, the favor of Lady Gotham, immersion in Gotham's own cursed ambient ectoplasm, being a close knit group who continued to expose eachother, etc.) the batfamily have been becoming liminal/ecto-contaminated without noticing. The powers they're developing have been subtle, and align with the skills they expect to have, so no one brought it up when they started being able to hold their breath beyond human limitations, or got so sneaky that they literally seemed invisible, or had a lucky miss when they expected a bullet to go right through them. And they always exuded an unsettling aura of fear, so no one else thought anything was out of the ordinary either. By the time they meet Danny, Gotham counts as one of the most fiercely defended ghost haunts on the planet, with so many territorial liminals patrolling the streets.
