2024 has approached and has smacked me in the face, where the hell the new year come from??
Anyways, my drawings this year 😎
Tumblr media
The first three are from an eddsworld comic I'm working on, I decided to pick up a pencil after about two years without drawing and it became a side project, it's hard to believe that a small (well, not very small) project lead me to all this 👀💙💜❤️🧡
I can't believe the improvement over a year, that's insane.
I just wanted to thank you guys for helping me find the motivation to start drawing again, I never thought I'd come so far and honestly I can't thank you guys enough, I'm awful with words but thank you thank you thank you.
Especially special thanks to @abbeyofcyn @skylabrea @wandering-ghost @the-fluidiest-gender @ilivelikeimtrying (I really hope I didn't forget anybody, I'm bad with names ahhhh) you all helped me in more ways than I can count and I'm grateful to have you guys in my life 🫂
For once in a long time I'm looking forward to what's ahead, admittedly bad start but I'm still looking forward to what's to come, so to start off a new year I figured I'll show you all what's to come after little baby blue is complete
Spoilers ;]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first drawings of this year too
Originally I wanted to do a future au that focused on Casey Jr and his life in the apocalypse, but little baby blue was created instead and being honest, I thought about it for like two days then jumped right in because I got excited, so the first few parts up till recently have been completely off the top of my head, I have everything planned, every detail, I got scripts and future parts sketched out as rough drafts, I have Playlists for future animations, I planned everything but the very very beginning, so oops.
But LAST HOPE AU will be a prequel to little baby blue, everything in little baby blue will link back and connect with last hope and vice versa, there has already been hints and foreshadowing in little baby blue that tie in with last hope, events that have happened in Casey's timeliness have already started to appear, just not in the way it had in his time. Everything will tie together in a neat little bow hehe.
We do get small snippets of Casey's past in Little Baby Blue but the story mainly focuses on leo and his brothers. Last Hope is dedicated to Casey Jr and his story that lead to the events of LBB.
A small bit of detail of the characters Casey mainly interacts with
Donnie makes more than just guns with his ninpo as you can see, he saves close combat weapons for his most bloodlust of days, especially when his family gets hurt. His hands are scarred from building the best tech he can with what little he's got, all his family wears this specially designed tech because out of everybody he wants to keep his dum dum brother's, April and Cassandra alive the most. He has the base in heavy lockdown and has strict system when it comes to missions that him and leo enforced to ensure maximum survival, donnie is cold blooded and fierce and only allows his family into his tech room that's heavily secured. When Casey Jr is born Donnies "emotionally unavailable" image gets turned to dust and genuinely gets excited when it's his turn to watch Jr, it's the only time he's actively away from his tech and security systems is to watch Casey Jr but he doesn't worry about it because if he's not there S.H.E.L.D.O.N. is on watch and notifies donnie when it's an emergency or something important, once Jr is old enough he allows Casey into his tech room and teaches Casey about how his tech works and how it operates.
Mikey never reaches his old man stage, only being 40 when the events of the movie take place. This is mainly due to the fact that he never learned how to cure kraang infected survivors, once someone is infected they couldn't be saved. He's at his most powerful protecting those closest to him and is still the main cook, him and donnie are the last line of defense if the base is ever attacked. He's the most connected to their family ninpo, him and leo work together to try and reawaken Leo's powers and were actually successful until leo lost his arm, he could never find out what had Leo's ninpo in a chokehold. Him and Casey have an entire room dedicated to wall art and often when mikey watches Casey they need to bathe all the paint off him afterwards, It's the only room full of color and is open to everyone to sit and enjoy the colors.
Raph is big, angry, intimating and powerful, but he is the kindest heart you'll find in the turtle group. Him and Cassandra go on missions together most of the times and he took her passing the hardest, he was a father figure to Casey Jr and despite being the biggest turtle he was the most gentle with Jr. He passed suddenly but died protecting those he loved most. Mikey talks with raph A lot after his death and donnie chimes in from time to time but unfortunately leo is unable to reach raph but knows he's there.
Leo is the leader of the resistance, he's looked up too as much as he's looked down upon, he doesn't take kindly to insults about his family and will put you in your place if one is threatened. He bugs Donnie a lot and try to do their traditional twin night as often as they can, along with being leader of the resistance he also helps Mikey cook, he helps Raph make clothes, and helps Donnie with security, he doesn't have time to watch Casey but always keeps an eye on him, sometimes when dee and Leo have twin nights they bring Casey with, after Leo loses his arm Casey is attached to his hip and after Raphs death Leo takes Casey under his wing and teaches him everything he needs to know to survive.
Cassandra is the mother of Casey Jr, she’s crazy fearless and insanely strong for being human. Even when she was pregnant she was trying to kick kraang butts, after Jr was born she settled down for a few months with April at her side who was teaching her how to properly handle an infant. After those few months though she was right back to her crazed energy and fighting spirit, she took it upon herself to teach the other mothers how to fight off kraang while protecting their kids, one example is kicking kraang face while burping child. Multitasking at its finest. She was in her sons life till he was 3 1/2 years old and she tragically lost her life, we will witness how she lost her life in little baby blue through one of the flashbacks Casey has and it’ll also be in last hope, sadly Casey was there to witness his mother’s final moments.
The one, the only, April O’Neal! Commander and right hand lady of the resistance, she’s always around the base trying her best to help lessen the load on Leo’s shoulders while still trying to be her bubbly self. She’s mostly helping her mother out in the medbay though and was there to help save Leo’s life multiple times, always followed by treating the soft shells wounds shortly after his freak outs. She’s not very well trained in medicine but her mother and Leo have taught her most of the basics knowledge for when she’s in battle and is needed. She is one of the few that survives till the events of the movie
I look forward to what's coming in little baby blue, and for what's to come in LAST HOPE. I hope you all are as excited as I am hehehe
There is WAY, W A Y more details and story but I don't want to spoil the whole thing ;]
Also as a bonus, if anyone is interested or just curious, l'll answer any questions either regarding little baby blue or last hope. Though depending on the question you may get spoilers, you've been warned 🫡

Hi mtx hope you are doing well
what are your thoughts on last case? who do you think that old woman and who she is focus on is it amuro or conan? and what abt the baby is it possible for him to be KARASUMA ?!!
File 1126-1128 Review
Tumblr media
I think this latest case was very refreshing, similar to the Butler shinkansen case, where we revisited classic DC mystery themes and settings that aren't often used. You immediately get a classic kidnapping case with the added trait of a seemingly gory and highstake threat from the start through the reveal of a head in a jar (File 1126).
Tumblr media
The twist that the gory atmosphere was ultimately a fakeout is such a callback to the very old Ayumi kidnapping case (File 83), where the head she was stuck with was a prop as well. It was also a neat trick on how to create the illusion of a 3D head out of a 2D paper.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The trick of opening a lock with a mini-explosion using matchsticks (File 1128) was also quite genius and I hadn’t thought of such a way to actually work (as expected of Gosho).
Tumblr media
Another revisited theme was Masumi and her protective and watchful gazes against anyone with potentially ill intent towards Conan, which I always love to see more of. Her noticing Amuro's nosiness towards Conan (File 1126) took me immediately back to Yusaku cold case in Bourbon arc (File 814), where she started glaring the same way towards Subaru after he alluded to figuring out Conan's true identity discreetly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for whether her eventually revealing to Conan, that Amuro is investigating him (File 1128), is gonna lead to any actions from Conan's side is all up in the air. Since Conan already views Amuro as an ally, he most likely wouldn't be too concerned of it, since unlike his Bourbon worries in File 1009 (after his recent Kudo Shinichi publicity) he has no reason to suspect the BO is onto Edogawa Conan.
Tumblr media
One thing I somewhat got right was something I speculated in regards to one of the suspects that Ran and Sonoko found so familiar. I had speculated that Kanamaru was an employee who has worked in Poirot since before Amuro & Masumi intro, based on the clues that were given in File 1127 (Knowledge on behind-the-counter, familarity, etc).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was convinced, but mainly hopeful, that we were finally getting the reveal of the mysterious never-appearing owner of Café Poirot. It seems however unfortunately that, while the line of thought was correct, it was rather a former employee who covered for the owner when he was hospitalized in the past (File 1128).
Tumblr media
It was however cool to learn that Kanamaru had previously appeared as a background Poirot employee in the anime, making his general design and official manga debut pretty cohesive in the DC franchise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now... as for the important question of yours, who is the old lady that looked unique in how she appeared as a witness with a mysterious toddler in a stroller and who also appeared once again at the very end...?
Tumblr media
She is none other than: Karasuma Renya's mother pushing her shrunken Boss son in a stroller!!!
Jokes aside, she did pretty much catch every other fan's attention the moment she appeared and it was a running joke that the boss has finally made his appearance xD
As for what I really think, I'm not really entertaining the idea that the Boss would have first of all shrunken into a younger age than our main protagonist (a 7-year-old), since it would lose any air of suspending disbelief and start becoming more comical than serious (especially since a toddler boss would be too vulnerable as a threat). The old lady also looked quite generic for a character design, which of course doesn't need to mean she isn't important, but it does ultimately lessen the chance that she is a major player in the story. What I however entertained was the possibility that she could be another named, but unrevealed, old woman character in the story, who has the best timing to appear in this stage of the ongoing plot. I'm talking about Haneda Kohji's mother, Haneda Ichiyo.
Considering that Gosho is very likely already setting up the introduction of Haneda Yasuharu (Kohji's named father in the marriage registration in File 947) through the mystery of Vader (respirator elder), it couldn’t be more fitting to have the also-named wife being setup to get introduced in such a discreet way that once she eventually appears in association with Vader (assuming it's Haneda Yasuharu), it will leave a bigger and better impression on the reader than a simple worthless appearance of a new character.
As for her motives for appearing around Poirot Café, it could be that similar to Vader, who this old lady is actually being watchful of is neither Conan nor Amuro, but rather Sera Masumi. Vader has had his eyes on Masumi and Mary (which again fits with him being Yasuharu) and seemingly realized that Akai Mary has become a middle-schooler (File 1096), so in a similar fashion, this could be Gosho sprinkling in some hidden continuation of that plot thread, but with the twist being that Ichiyo (Kohji's mother) is trying to confirm her husband's (Vader/Yasuharu) crazy findings by borrowing one of her housemaids' baby as a part of her cover as a passerby, rather than glamorously appearing in a vintage/expensive car that shows her status of being from the powerful Haneda family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The ending of the chapter had a sidenote mentioning that many premonitions were swirling around Café Poirot, which is ultimately enough that it is referring to what Masumi brought up about Conan being investigated by Amuro, but it could also indeed covertly be including the looming old lady literally outside the Café hearing the rom-com commotion inside. What is however the most exciting is that the awaited Osaka Heizuha likely-confession case in Naniwa has been teased even in the to-be-continued note to be the next big 5-chapter case coming in Aug 7. I can't wait to finally see more development of not only the main characters of this stage (Heiji & Kazuha) but also Rum arc's new stars of this subplot that have thoroughly been a joy to follow (Momiji and Muga).

Hiii, could you write an arranged marriage AU with Jack?
Marriage of convenience | Jack the Ripper x Reader Headcanons
Hiii, I've decided to go with headcanons for this one. Hope that is alright ♡
Tumblr media
Jack was the local hunter in his village, a good social position for a commoner
After his father's expectations, he learned young to hunt, joining the family business
unlike his father's expectations though, Jack stayed a loner, not bothering to find a wife, he had few friends
most people bored him and he rarely had good reason to leave his village to meet more
when his Dad told him it was time to become a man and marry, Jack thought his old man had lost his mind
when he met you, he couldn't exactly hate you but you felt him despise you or the situation
you were from a nearby village and when your father told you he had found a proper husband you were curious
what you didn't expect was the big ass frown Jack had on his face when you two got introduced
really, he doesn't hate you, he hates that his father had found yet another chain to wrap around him
the marriage was... weird. while it was beautiful for your standards and Jack was behaving well for at least your sake it was clear he didn't want to be there
being married to Jack in this scenario was like... living with a business partner, he was funny and he'd joke and treat you decently but at first he'd avoid you like the pest
warms up to you after a while though, if you're able to bring a bit more excitement into his dull life that's neat
it's hard for him to fall for you, at all. doesn't feel like his choice and like he has to love you. he is very honest about it though, not wanting to lead you on.
I'm not saying you will have a loveless marriage with Jack but it's more likely for you to fall in love like platonic besties at first before anything romantic can happen, he feels stuck in this life and being more or less 'forced' from his father to marry you definitely doomed the early stages of your relationship
he is still our batshit crazy guy, just that he had to suppress it his entire life - get it out and support him and he'll be head over heels, although Papa Ripper might not enjoy it

Apart from Hipercy, what are your favorite punch out fics?
im assuming u meant ships right?? IN AAANY CASE, here u go bro !!
Royal army (von kaiser x king hippo) is definitely up there as my favorite PO ship. I love how it started out as a crackship from a joke in animal crossing but then just delved into Whatever the fuck w/ maber KJDHKSJF.
But seriously though !! they just Work somehow... like you have both of them having royal names (albeit i hc hippos is an actual title he carries, and kaisers more of a stage name bc of his interest in royal n military history). Plus, I think kaiser would b very interested in learning more ab hippos culture n hippo would b happy to indulge him. It's what elevates Kaiser from ''just another peasant'' to Hippo as someone who he's willing to talk to! Not many people take his title seriously as hippo island's fairly unknown outside of the south pacific hes from, so when they first meet, Kaiser's a huge breath of fresh air to him.
Seeing as Kaiser is a polyglot as well in my HC, I like to think he was one of the few people in the WVBA who had prior knowledge of Hippo Island and it's language. Although Kaiser can only speak a couple basic sentences and struggles with the pronounciation, Hippo still appreciates the effort. In turn, Kaiser has also taught Hippo some German, the language being easier to Hippo due to the sounds made.
Totally T4T (tism4tism).
ALSO imagine the hippo island kids n kaiser's academy kids going on some type of exchange w/ one another !! theyd have the time of their lives !! The kids would totally get into an argument over who's cooler too.
They're a lot like opposites attracting as well. Hippo, although he is responsible to his people, is generally a lot more easygoing n defo helps kaiser let loose a bit more like how he did in his 20s (berliner party days baybe !!!) But Hippo learns a lot from Kaiser too ! he really admires his work ethic, and loves how much of a leader n fatherly he is to the kids he teaches. He admires his resilience as well, both having confided much into eachother. His resilicience almost like a... MACHINE?!? Either way, both have positions in which they lead in some way, and theyve both taught eachother a lot.
Also they bond over dead mother figures (hippos who died of illness, and kaiser's who went missing when he was very young.)
As for how they'd butt heads, would be kaisers endless need to seek approval due to his dad being emotionally constipated, and hippos occasional emotional outbursts (poor emotional regulation). also hippos friendly teasing (how he shows affection, aside from physical contact) sometimes strikes a nerve w/ kaiser, esp if it's about his age or career.
One time, after a particularly exhausting match, kaiser just fell asleep on hippos lap as the latter was holding him. Aran walked by in disbelief, w/ hippo going ''heh, jealous? ;)'' w/ aran going ''Nah, not at all''
One last thing.... hippo sees kaiser as a kitten (thank you maber for that idea i am obsessed); kaiser's height n physique r significantly smaller than hippo's, leading to hippo often times patting him on the head n even picking him up like he weighs nothing. Kaiser secretly rly likes it, but he won't tell him directly because yknow... hes got a rep to protect.
Tumblr media
^ Kaiser to Hippo
other ships i like include.... Red bull (soda x bull) burnt bread (joe x aran) u can blame charlie for both those (jk jk bro im glad u got me into those ships. But please read his fics, thats how i got into them) and disco kid x heike kagero !!
Red bull is just very neat bc of the whole, in simple terms, sunshine x grump dynamic (and im saying simple terms bc charlie's fics flesh out their relationship A LOT more n its basically the best ok go read his fics), burnt bread bc of how unlikely yet funny it is, and disco x heike bc, eventhough theyve never interacted, you KNOW theyd absolutely be bffs at the very least.

So I know Attorney Woo had both the exponential absurdness of soap operas where we go from 0 to 100 real quick with regards to how the court cases mix with personal life, and the cheesiness of a happy ending despite it all, but there were quotes or moments in this show that quite inspired neurodivergent people, especially girls and women. Especially the part when Young-Woo said her life is unusual and peculiar, but still valuable and beautiful. Yes it is cheesy and episode title drop but it is also important to hear. Besides we also have hurting male characters like her father and male lead, and the fact that the romance didn't have any of the red flags and borderline (if not outright) sexual harassment we see in other stories, and was actually healthy is a win. The issue of consent was brought up throughout the show too, and while Extraordinary Attorney Woo feels preachy or in your face at times (similarly to how it is quite educative when it comes to autism), it is a good thing we are moving towards a positive direction when it comes to portraying healthy relationships on screen.
There are things I really liked about Woo as an autistic woman, or in general as a woman in the workforce. For example, the fact she is plain and dresses for comfort; that is something positive that we don't often see because we always assume women should prioritize looks over comfort, and they must be beautiful before they are smart. I also like that she wasn't forced into the nurturing role, and in fact was a woman who loved her job, and who got a love interest through her skills and abilities, and not looks. (What I mean is, the myth persists that women are attracted to competence in men, while men are attracted to looks only in women. So while the male lead finds Woo cute, he first notices her for the unusual way she approaches cases and her intellect, and in fact when confessing he talks a lot about how her ability and enthusiasm around law makes her shine in his eyes.) I understand in Korean cultures Woo's loudness and mannerisms stand out more, because the men too are quite composed, but in a Western context some of the things Woo does, like talk out of turn are things we forgive in men and punish in women, so Woo standing out and not being punished for that is a good thing to see. Now there are a few things for which this drama could have gone the extra mile: Woo is too neat, and in fact all the actors clearly wear makeup--especially for an autistic woman, but women in general, we need to get to a stage where women can show their face on-screen without makeup. The fact that Woo, while we can't blame her for her good looks, and in fact autism or lack of has nothing to do with genetics and how attractive a face is, is in fact cute or still attractive presentation-wise, that is to say, makeup, no blemishes, on-point hair, shows we still have miles to go when it comes to female representation on-screen, but it is a first step. I liked that Woo was more weird than cute, and we should keep it that way, and allow women, neurodivergent or otherwise, to keep being weirder on-screen.
Overall, some things were cliche, bc such is the format of a drama, but within those constraints, Extraordinary Attorney Woo did some very interesting and original things, and the characters are quite interesting, and in the end, there is nothing wrong with a feel-good drama: showing autistic people that they deserve happiness is a good thing. Plus there is also nothing bad with instilling some morality and cooperation into how people should treat colleagues, and others at large, and that in fact we should all try to be fundamentally good, open-minded tho those around us, and learn from our mistakes, and that redemption is possible even if painful.
(I also liked some of the magical realism aspects, such as the whale scenes or the rotating doors as a dance. Plus the fact that so many women are also formed and helped Woo grow is important, and it is great to see more women in the workforce, along with their diverse worldviews and opinions and choices, even if those choices are not what we might agree with. But that range, and its portrayal, is important for women on screen!)
(now there's an argument for why an actress who was actually autistic wasn't chosen to portray Woo, but I won't get into it. as someone on the spectrum tho, I didn't find the portrayal of Woo in-bad-faith or exploitative, and I did enjoy her character. that is my personal opinion tho, and I can't tell others to think like me. I think it is a step in the right direction, as we get these roles more acceptable and then hopefully soon we'll see actual neurodivergent people on screen playing such characters.)

2, 10, 11, 13, 16, 18, 19, and 40
2. talk about a notable time a narrative or character has looked you dead in the eyes and said “fuck your plan, here’s what we’re actually doing.”
already answered
10. at what point in the process do you come up with titles, and how easy or hard is that for you?
Very early in the process only because I have zero chill and as soon as that first chapter is written, it's getting posted. That's lead to having some fics that I wish I could rename because it didn't end up fitting the final form but... eh. It's all a learning curve.
Usually, I pull a quote out of the fic and that becomes the title (for the entire fic and the chapters), but I also like making puns or using well known phrases because I'm a fucking dweeb.
11. what’s something neat you’ve learned while doing research for something you were writing? also, how much do you worry about doing research in general?
I don't do a lot of research. Anyone that hangs around this blog and reads these asks for even a minute probably knows that I write strictly for the vibes. Basically, I don't worry to much about it and, if someone corrects me later, I try to change it.
I did an unusual amount of research about spiders as background for Peter in Songs for the Zombie Apocalypse. Mostly around how spider eyes work and what specific spider Peter might have gotten his mutations from. Jumping spiders have eyes that can do both telescopic vision and see colors and depth in the same way that humans do. I originally had plans to incorporate this more (lots of head tilting to dial in the telescopic sight) but it didn't fit the word count.
Also, if you ever need to know about New York cities surrounding Albany in the 1930s, I've drawn up a map. For reasons.
13. talk about a writing experience that has pleasantly surprised you.
already answered
16. where is your favorite place to write?
At home. I alternate between my desk and the kitchen table. I do genuinely enjoy writing in public as well (the library especially is fantastic!) but am hyper paranoid that someone is going to accidentally catch sight of a knife kink scene over my shoulder and call the cops.
18. what is your most and least favorite part of writing?
Writing is one of the few places that I ever experience a true sense of flow. The other being athletics which are frustratingly thin on the ground as an adult. I don't know, it probably sounds stupid to say that writing makes me happy. It doesn't make me happy but it allows me to get out of my own way sometimes which I fucking need.
Opening myself up for feedback is my absolute least favorite part of writing. It's why I usually don't edit (hope ya'll enjoy my sloppy first drafts!) or have a beta. Like, I write to get the fuck away from people and expectations, so it's EXHAUSTING when the writing creates those things in excess. I am terrible at taking constructive criticism. Don't give it to me. It will not end well.
19. what are some books or authors that influenced your style the most?
There are the authors that I wish would influence my style and then the ones that actually did. I grew up on a steady diet of very specific teenage horror and, the more I look back, the more I realize how much that probably influenced my work.
So, uh, thanks to Christoper Pike, I guess.
Beyond that, there aren't a lot of authors that I think influenced me. I found Chuck Palahniuk at a very special developmental stage for my brain and romance, as an entire genre, has (no shit) probably saved my life. Got to get the good brain chemicals from somewhere if you can't produce them yourself, right?
40. best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten.
My fifth grade teacher, after grading a writing assignment, called my parents and convinced them to send me to creative writing summer camp. Maybe that qualifies more as praise than feedback, but it was wild to have someone believe in me that hard and go to bat for me just because she saw some potential in there somewhere.

Follow the Shadow (choice #3)
You follow the priestess in a neat file, like paired up schoolchildren. "Hey" you whisper to your partner "What's her name?" "Opal" a smile blooms below his leather mask. "OPAL, MA'AM!" you raise your voice immidiately, when going up the staircase. "Yes?" you hear her voice from above. "Will we get a chance to participate in any rituals today?" you shoot out without thinking. "Oh, we have someone very eager today!" she claps her hands together "How wonderful!"
Your partner chuckles, but says nothing, and soon you emerge outside, by a scaffolded wall of the Main Temple dome. You don't remember how you got in its basements, but you have see the building many times, even once after it had been partially destroyed this January. The works are coming to an end, you can judge it more easily once you go around to the main entrance and look inside. White marble wall circling around a scene, with rows of seats like on a stadium. The roof has been finished again, with red, pink and milky white stained glass, encapsulating the top of the sphere, and letting in fantastic beams on color from the morning sun.
High Priestess Agat stands in her most ritual clothing on the stage surrounded by other girls, and you are all lead there by Opal.
"Dear candidates, it feels my heart with joy that more men, even if too unpure to be Ubisi's priests, want to join the ranks of the Temple Slaves and serve our goddess! Each of you has been assigned a mentor, with whom you shall be training your stamina and rites at the privacy of your new home and the little work out room you can use at your own discretion. There will be two such sessions a day, in the morning and in the afternoon, starting tomorrow." She looks around at all the confident faces you and other candidates are putting up, she seems satisfied. "This will be accompanied by one session of religious practices either after lunch or after dinner. If you finish the whole cycle of training, we keep the best of you in this Temple. Others will be dispersed to smaller cities to serve the Priestesses there. Let's hope you can all satisfy our Red Goddess!"
After that there are 1-on-1 introductions and you finally learn your mentor's name: Shadow. Everything is done in a laid-back atmosphere, almost like a gallery open night, because each of you is treated to a glass of the most exquisite Vermillious red wine, with its flowery aftertaste. Agat herself approaches you at one point. "II've heard you want to take part in a ritual today" she rather states, not asks. You feel an air of both amusement and disgust from her. Does she really thing men do not belong in this sacred building? Or does she hold a grudge to you personally? "Y-yes… I do, yes!" "Hmm.. have you seen the ritual during which the Temple got damaged?" "No, but I've heard about it! The Queen ordered a special Cleansing Ritual to one of the soldiers and…" "And I almost performed it" Shadow chimes in. "If not the disruption… we would perform it perfectly. Could you show our new candidate how?" The smile on Agat's face is done only with eyes, not her lips. It's creepy.
Shadows just shrugs his broad shoulders and asks for an appropriate table, adding a red leash to his collar of which he hands you the other end. "But… but isn't the Cleansing Ritual just some milk, fire, repenting…?" you are confused. "Well, not if somebody did something REALLY wrong. Now imagine I am a woman, all in red lingerie, red collar, red leash. Get me to that table."
You are more than baffled. Not least because you cannot imagine any woman looking at his sturdy body. But what also what sort of disturbance caused the Temple to partially collapse after a ritual like that? You approach the table, more like a block of stone, with your mentor on a leash. "Hint one, little one, I cannot walk more confidently than you do in this scenario." he says and lies on the table on his back. Bending his knees, he spreads his legs apart and puts his feet on the verge of the countertop for support. "OK, do your thing" he says with eyes fixed emotionlessly at the stained glass above. All the other eyes in the room are on you two. Unlike at school, you cannot say you are unprepared or await the best student from the first row to give you an answer quietly.

‘I just showing up late night’ mood.
Tumblr media
“You know how everyone’s always saying, ‘Seize the moment’? I don’t know, I’m kinda thinkin’ it’s the other way. Like the moment seizes us.”
I wish that I was blessed with the ability to have a constant stream of ideas, and that writing was something that came easily and effortlessly. But in reality, writing is hard.
It’s not hard from a mechanical viewpoint — as Stephen King said, words become sentences, sentences become paragraphs, and paragraphs become chapters. But it’s everything else about writing that can seem daunting. The pressure to find an idea (something no one else has thought about!), the effort to write it well enough that it won’t immediately be thrown away by anyone reading, the fear of backlash or just plain disgust from your readers (who at this stage of my life are mostly my friends).
Most weeks, writing can be hard and scary to even think about it.
So, tonight, I try my best to not think about writing.
I just show up.
Showing up means a couple of different things in my mind.
Firstly, showing up every day to whatever happens in my life.
Stephen King has a ton of great quotes in his book “On Writing”. When talking about finding inspiration and ideas, he wrote:
“Your job isn’t to find these ideas but to recognize them when they show up.”
Most of my writing arises from the events and thoughts that happen to me daily. There’s nothing special — I have a very normal and mundane life. If you look at my last few articles, they have each been inspired (in this exact order) by a one-off conversation with friends, an issue, packing my things to move out, and one excruciatingly boring weekend.
What I’ve learned about inspiration — at least, for myself — is that ideas don’t come as a nice package where the article just streams from your fingertips like you’re a word bender, effortlessly typing on your keyboard to make an article that will blow collective minds.
For me, articles are usually an idea that’s been on my mind for a few weeks. I initially don’t think too much about it, but then there will be more small events that remind me of that initial idea. I’ll think about the idea of home, and then watch a movie about someone coming home, or read an article about someone leaving their home. Or I’ll be thinking about how to deal with rejection, and I’ll hear my friend’s story about being rejected, or I’ll get rejected myself for something I wanted.
I’m just a vessel, and I take the ideas I can get whenever they show themselves.
My writing is not a nice, neat package. If I had to describe it, it’s more of a mosaic of all the small things that happened to me, the small details of the stories my friends have told me, or the small miracles (or catastrophes) that happen every day.
I just show up every day (even if that means rolling out of bed and living the same life, I do every day) and I note down any small thing that I think I can write about. And at the end of the week, I sit down and see what ideas might be able to turn into something more.
And so that leads us nicely into the second way I define ‘showing up’.
In 2018, John Mayer improvised a song live with Zane Lowe on an Apple Music interview. He picked up a guitar and proceeded to seemingly pull chords and lyrics out of thin air, and said:
“If you’re not Ouija Boarding immediately, you’re wasting time. You gotta keep forcing it, forcing it, forcing it.
What he meant by Ouija Boarding — in the context of the interview — is just trying to sing lyrics, even if they don’t make sense or even rhyme. But you have to keep forcing it because otherwise, you’ll never hit a breakthrough.
That has become my second definition of showing up: literally, showing up.
It’s about forcing myself to sit down and think about everything that’s happened in the past seven days. It’s about remembering every story told to me, every topic of conversation, every Tiktok I watched. It’s retracing my steps for the week and seeing which ideas came up where, and seeing what might work. It’s taking all of these small details and ideas and trying to make an article that is coherent and makes some sense.
Tonight, I don’t think I succeed at this. Tonight, I feel like I just regurgitate a jumble of words and press “Publish” with my fingers crossed. Tonight, I’m forcing myself to write, even if I don’t feel particularly inspired.
But most weeks, all I have to do is show up. I’m not demanding myself to be churning out great articles every week. I’m not demanding myself to write to a minimum word count. I’m just asking myself if I can show up every week, write something, and post it.
And so, even if I’m forcing it, even if I’m faking it, even if I’m Ouija Boarding it, I do my best to show up.
Most of the time, that’s all that matters.
To close, there are two additional good things about showing up.
The first good thing about showing up is that it helps you deal with fear. The fear doesn’t go away, but when you’ve made up your mind to show up no matter what, you start to care less about whether people will hate or love what you make (because sometimes, even you don’t love what you make).
When you’re just focused on sending something out, on pressing the Publish button every week, you realize the only thing stopping you from doing that is you. It’s not the haters, or the naysayers, or the people-who-follow-you-on-Instagram-who-you-never-interact-with-but-you-would-like-to-impress-them. It’s just you.
The second good thing about showing up is that it applies to almost everything in your life. When I was playing badmintom regularly, there would be a ton of mornings where I felt too lazy to get up. Sometimes I’d tell myself to just go to the court, and then if I didn’t want to, I could just go home. 80% of the time, I would end up actually going out into the court. Showing up is half of the battle — sometimes it’s the most difficult part. And this applies to a ton of stuff outside of writing and playing badminton.
Don’t feel like working out? Show up to the gym, then go home if you want.
Don’t feel like you’re being a good friend? Just show up for them when you can and do your best.
Don’t feel like you’re being productive? Just show up to work and try to make it to the end of the day.
You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to be the best. At least try to show up. Try to be present. Try to be there when someone needs it the most. Try to make something from nothing. Most of it will be crap, most of it will be forgettable. Doesn’t matter, just keep showing up.
I’ll leave you with one final quote, from Stab Magazine: “Extraordinary accomplishments come from doing ordinary things for extraordinary periods of time.”
Show up. Do your best. Then show up the next day. Repeat.

Someone had told me about grief
1. No matter how prepared you think you are for a death, you can never be fully prepared for the loss and the grief.
2. You can plan for death, but death does not always comply with our wishes or plans.
3. “Stop avoiding and be present.”
4. “Dying is not like you see on TV or in the movies. It is not peaceful or prepared. You may not have a spiritual or meaningful moment. It’s too real.”
5. A hospital death is not always a bad death.
6. A home death/hospice death is not always a good death.
7. “There will be pressure from others to move on, even minutes or hours after a death, and this can lead to regrets”.
8. “Death is not an emergency. There is always time to step back and take a moment to say goodbye.”
9. Death and grief make people uncomfortable, so be prepared for awkward encounters.
10. You will plan the funeral while in a haze. If you aren’t happy with the funeral you had, have another memorial service later.
11. When people offer support, take them up on it.
12. People will bring you food because they don’t know what else to do. Don’t feel bad throwing it away.
13. People will say stupid, hurtful things without even realizing it.
14. People will tell you things that aren’t true about your grief.
15. Death brings out the best and the worst in families, so be prepared.
16. There is no such thing as closure.
17. There is no timeline for grieving. You can’t rush it. You will grieve, in some form, forever.
18. “There will always be regrets. No matter how much time you had, you’ll always want more”.
19. Guilt is a normal part of grief.
20. Anger is normal part of grief.

22. Grief can make you question your faith.
23. “Grief doesn’t come in five neat stages. It’s messy and confusing.”
24. Grief makes you feel like you are going crazy.
25. Grief can make you question your life, your purpose, and your goals. And that isn’t always a bad thing.
26. We all grieve differently, which can create strain and confusion between family members and friends.
27. “However badly you think it is going to hurt, it’s going to be a million times worse”.
28. You may find comfort in very unexpected places.
29. “You should go somewhere to debrief after caregiving”.
30. “The last 24 hours of their lives will replay in your mind”.
31. Trying to protect children from death and the emotions of grief isn’t helpful.
32. “It’s sometimes necessary to seek out new ways to grieve on your own, find new guidance if the people who are supposed to be supportive simply haven’t learned how.”
33. “You grieve your past, present, and future with that person”.
34. Big life events and milestones will forever be bittersweet.
35. Grief triggers are everywhere. You will see things that remind you of your loved one all over the place, and it may lead to sudden outbursts of emotion.
36. “You lose yourself, your identity, meaning, purpose, values, your trust”.
37. Holidays, anniversaries, and birthdays will be hard forever.
38. People will tell you what you should and shouldn’t feel, and how you should and shouldn’t grieve. Ignore them.
39. “The grief process is about not only mourning the loss, but getting to know yourself as a different person.”
40. There is no normal when it comes to grieving.
41. Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better.
42. “It’s normal to feel numbafter it happens. The tears will come. They come in waves.”
43. Grief can make you feel selfish and entitled, and that’s okay (at least for a while).
44. Meeting new people, who never knew the person who died, can be hard and sad. But eventually it can be nice to “introduce” them through stories and photographs.

46.“People love to judge how you are doing. Watch out for those people.”
47. You can’t compare grief or compare losses, though people will try.
48. Any loss you grieve is a valid loss, though people will sometimes make you feel otherwise.
49. “Just because you feel pretty good one day it doesn’t mean you are cured of your grief.”
50. There are many days when you will feel totally and completely alone, whether you are or not.
51. Grief can make you do stupid, crazy things. They may be what you need at the time time, but you may regret them later. Cut yourself some slack.

55. It’s okay NOT to cry sometimes.
56. “Time does NOT heal all wounds.”

58. “You don’t get over it, you just get used to it.”
59. It is okay to tell people when they are not being helpful.
60. Watch your drinking. Alcohol can quickly become an unhealthy friend.
61. You will have to face your emotions eventually. You can avoidthem for a while, but they will catch up with you in the end.
62. Talking isn’t the only way to express and process emotions.
63. You will never go back to being your “old self.” Grief changes you and you are never the same.
64. Nothing you do in the future will change your love for the person who died. Eventually, you will begin to enjoy life again, date again, have another child, seek new experiences, or whatever. None of these things will diminish your love for the person you lost.

Name: Hagurumon
Debut: Digimon World (unobtainable); Digimon Pendulum 5.0 Metal Empire (obtainable)
Hello! I like Digimon now. Hagurumon is my favorite! And you, my treasured and beloved captive audience, are soon going to learn to love Hagurumon dearly, too.
For a brief overview of what exactly Digimon is, it began as a line of virtual pet toys, a direct counterpart to Tamagotchi, intended to be more Cool rather than Cute! Of course, it still has a lot of cute, which you know because you have looked at Hagurumon. Now, look at Hagurumon’s very first teeny tiny sprite!
Tumblr media
So small! Not even big enough to be a choking hazard, probably! With how detailed a lot of Digimon designs are, I sometimes prefer the little pixel versions, but with Hagurumon, I think the full art is absolutely better. You get to see its wonderful and precious face! It has one round and one spiky eye-hole, and eyeballs deeper in those holes than they needed to be, for a great peering look, and the mouth! The mouth is so wonderful. The jaggedness gives its smile such an innocence that might not be captured in a smooth curve!
Tumblr media
I haven’t mentioned it yet, and it is obvious at this point, but it still needs to be said that Hagurumon is Some Gears, but not JUST Some Gears, more like Thumb Gears! Because the two smaller gears are like five-fingered hands with the longer teeth! The gears are constantly rotating, and at this point its lore gets really funny, because it is said to have “countless gears built into its body”. I count three. Three gears. Its body is kind of bulbous, though, so maybe they’re inside? I guess we won’t know unless they showed us what it looks like inside, or something.
Tumblr media
Oh! They did do that! It looks empty. It looks like it was opened like an egg and someone is frying up some Metal Yolk. So... three gears, still? I guess? I still think three. Thank you for opening up to us, Hagurumon!
Tumblr media
This specific art of Hagurumon goes really hard look at it
Hagurumon is a Virus-attribute Digimon, and Virus-attribute Digimon are kind of... bad guys! But it is really not so simple. Hagurumon has the attribute because it can use black gears full of computer viruses to control other Digimon, but hold on, be nice to Hagurumon! It is not a bad guy! You see, it has no sense of self. If someone is using it for evil, it has no way of knowing! Similarly, though, it has no way of knowing if someone is using it for good, or being its friend... this is a very fascinating characterization for your monster sidekick, I think! Be nice to Hagurumon, even if it doesn’t understand, just because it deserves it.
Tumblr media
Hagurumon has another form, where it is affected by the X-Antibody, and basically all you need to know about the X-Antibody is that it leads to new alternative designs for classic Digimon! Hagurumon’s perfect face is untouched, and it instead receives a larger gear to nestle in, new big drill hands, and even some new little guys! These are Kohagurumon, which contain an even more powerful computer virus, and are quite cute, but not as cute as Hagurumon itself. Overall, this form is very neat and cool and I like it! I prefer the original Hagurumon, but I like this a lot!
Tumblr media
There is even more I could say about Hagurumon, but this post is long enough, I think. I think it is so wonderful that there is so much to say about any given one of hundreds of collectible creatures! I will end by noting that Hagurumon is a Child/Rookie level Digimon, which is typically the stage that serves as a human character’s sidekick, Digivolving into stronger forms temporarily but staying in this one by default. Needless to say, Hagurumon would absolutely be my partner Digimon, my (one-sided?) friend to the end!

Top 7 Favorite Aspec Headcanons
So I’m starting a tagging game for Internation Asexuality Day! Rules are simple, post your 7 favorite ace headcanons!
1. Shadowhunters, Jace Herondale: asexual
Tumblr media
I just think he’s neat? I think he’s very sex-enthused and finds joy in it, but the way he just doesn’t seem to have a type and hooks up with anyone who’s willing just makes me think of him as ace.
2. One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy: asexual
Tumblr media
The way he just... does not pay attention to the attractiveness of honestly anyone around him? How Boa Hancock leaves him completely unaffected? That’s just so very ace of him and we genuinely are one author’s acknowledgement apart from him being a canon ace icon because he is truly fundamentally being written as ace.
3. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Harmony Kendall: aroace
Tumblr media
I love her so much and I think of her as aroace. She never had a single romantic plotline throughout both shows and the comic continuation. She had a sexual relationship with Spike, sure, but that too felt more like convenience than anything else.
4. Arrow, Mia Smoak: aromantic
Tumblr media
Honestly, this one is mostly just about vibes. Kat’s portrayal of Mia Smoak gave me an aromantic lesbian vibe. Sure, the hardened exterior that won’t let anyone close enough to love her or for her to love someone is all intended to be about the daddy issues and abandonment issues, but it just read as aro to me.
5. Detective Conan, Kuroba Kaito: asexual
Tumblr media
I actually made a whole post on how performative and staged his pervertedness feels in canon and why that makes me read him more as an asexual who tries to fit into the crowd than anything else.
6. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Daniel Osbourne: demisexual
Tumblr media
The way Oz first really noticed Willow when she wore the least sexy outfit possible, when most of the time the thing hat first sparks interest seems to be sexual attraction before two people get to know each other enough to develop romantic feelings, and how he never really brought sex up at all, but was very on board when Willow brought it up deeper into their relationship, has given me a demisexual read on him ever since I learned what that means.
7. Leverage, Parker: asexual
Tumblr media
Every single innuendo about her and Hardison always leads up to “they jumped from buildings” or “they crawled through air vents” and those are also the things she thinks about when she is supposed to think of something exciting or something she enjoys. How she didn’t really understand what the team meant when they all called Tara “hot”. I just can not watch this show and not see her as asexual, because it is so heavy in the subtext.
--
So this was a lot of fun! Now for tagging some people <3 @kimmycup @justonemorechapternicercy @kunfyouzed AND @ EVERYONE ELSE WHO WANTS TO DO THIS. Please do it and spread it! I want to see some wonderful aspec headcanons <3

Ch5: Obstacle
who’s ready to meet the contestants??? not beast! i’ve been SO excited to get to them!!! hope y’all enjoy these fools as much as i do :3
Six contestants. Six first episodes. Six runs for a win. Six outcomes. And yet, all of them ended up in the exact same place.
Beast’s body still tingled with adrenaline aftertaste as the double doors slammed shut behind her. For better or worse, her first run was over, and she found herself being led once again through dim maroon halls. A small green bandage was plastered to her cheek, radiating a healing haze over her wounds. She’d taken enough damage to knock her out- physically and just shy of the end of an episode. But her mind was still back in the arena. She’d learned a lot. Maybe not everything, but she had a much better idea of how the game was played. Or. She hoped she did. ‘No, don’t hope, know,’ she growled to herself. She knew more of how the game went. She learned how to use battle cards. Scratch that, she learned what battle cards were. She’d learned how rolling dice worked, and how to take turns fighting, and how dodging wouldn’t work here- no lucky breaks besides the enemy rolling low. And she’d keep learning. So she could win. She would win. For today, though, she only had one final hurdle to overcome. The cafeteria. The flow of stage crew slowed from a focused stream to a lazy river as the hall widened. It opened up into a huge high ceilinged room, scaffolding and rafters disappearing into endless black shadows. Round tables sat in neat rows along the floor, with a couple picnic bench style perches about halfway up each wall. Beast momentarily wondered what they were for before a pelican with a tray in their mouth swooped down to sit on one. She watched them set their tray down and start eating- ah. Seats for people who flew. ‘Well, that’s nice, I guess.’ On the far end of the room was a long line of… what were those, mini restaurants? People went up with trays and came away with food. Simple enough. There was just… one problem with all this. The whole place was absolutely teeming with people. Minions, stage crew, even a few scattered interviewers and bosses. No Lady, but she didn’t exactly expect to see her among… well. Everyone else. The droning buzz of conversation was both a comfort and a burr in her hide, Beast’s eyes flicking every which way. Why hadn’t they told her she’d be around so many people? A couple of them were staring at her- what the hell were they looking at?- and she bared her teeth until they glanced away. Good. She wasn’t here to make friends. Unfortunately, the crew member leading her didn’t seem to realize that. They were taking her right to a table in the center of the room. Five people were already sitting at it- and what a ruckus they had going on. The one in blue armor was the loudest, all big gap toothed smiles, waving hands, and roaring laughter. He was tall, very well built, and tawny skinned, dark coils of hair bouncing as he talked animatedly. Beast could see a few scars scattered across his exposed skin, a large one over his eye, and plenty of dents and scrapes all over his armor. Clearly he was a seasoned fighter. About what she expected to see in a dungeon. He’d make a fine opponent… she’d have to keep an eye out for him on the field. Next to him was a man just a tad shorter, with well kept, sleek black hair and light skin. An eyepatch covered his left eye, his remaining good one half lidded and clearly in the middle of an eye roll. Green seemed to be this fellow’s theme color, every bit of his clothing a different shade- from his tattered cape to pristine gloves, his loose long sleeve shirt to toned leggings- even his boots would’ve matched the leafiest trees. He didn’t look like he was enjoying his company, but honestly, he resembled the kind of shady guy she’d run into in the back alley of a bar. Not exactly the most social type. But hey, he fit the bill of a fighter too- maybe just an underhanded one. Next in line, though, was when she started getting confused. With a gray sweater vest over a white button up shirt, slate bowtie, gray slacks, light business shoes, and chalky skin, the next contestant looked a lot more suited to an office than a battlefield. Hell, she looked right out of a black and white film. If it weren’t for the bright turquoise of his eyes, she would’ve thought he’d jumped off a newspaper. Their short, slicked back white hair and pale yellow pencil behind their ear made her think of her interviewer. She was even talking with the others, nodding politely, but… not taking notes. Or shuffling papers. Or doing more than acting like he was precisely where he was supposed to be. What sort of fighting did they do? Filling out tax forms? Beast bit back a scoff, letting her gaze slide to the next person. She was all shades of yellow and orange. Short and stocky, but clearly full of energy, with blonde hair in an undercut, sides and back buzzed to fuzz. The front haloed her head with curtain bangs. Freckles dusted all across her tan skin. Her dark orange bandana matched the frames of her thick rimmed glasses. High waisted maroon cargo pants, patched knees, overflowing pockets, maroon fanny pack… she looked like one of the scrap pickers Beast would spot lurking around junkyards. The wide eyed wonder and rapid fire questions reminded Beast of a scientist. Interesting combo… probably a tinkerer of some sort. Ok. At least she fit in more than business bow tie beside her. And then- oh gods. As if rivaling the blue fighter for volume wasn’t a feat in and of itself, the last girl’s outfit screamed showman almost as much as the Lady’s. Purple cape, dark high heeled boots, a short purple one piece jumper, and tight purple leggings, all topped off with a tall black witch’s hat. Her long puffy brown hair cascaded perfectly past her shoulders, her makeup as pristine as a model’s. What must’ve been at least twice a minute she looked down at her phone, laughing or snapping a picture or something. Beast felt her lip curling in utter annoyance. They had one of those selfie-stick toting, flower ripping, forest disrupting ‘influencers’ in here?! What did she do, snapbook people to death? Or, whatever the new chat thing was? From how jovial and enthusiastic she was in interacting with everyone else, it was a wonder she wasn’t up there announcing with that damn Jester. Yeah, no. She didn’t want any part of this group. She had to get the staff member to take her somewhere else. “Hey-“ she reached out and snagged the staff member’s shoulder, stopping them in their tracks. She didn’t miss their fearful flinch before they turned around. She brushed it off- being scary is a good thing- fixing them with a serious glare. “Do I need to sit over there? Can’t we go somewhere else?” “I’m sorry ma’am- the contestants have to sit together,” the crew member explained. “… the contestants?” She echoed blankly. The staff member just stared at her. Slowly, she looked between them and the loud table. Oh. Oh gods. That was her competition?! “Oh c’mon, there’s gotta be an empty table I can snag!” Beast groaned. “Do I have to sit there?” “Y-yes, ma’am. There’s a seating chart-“ “A seating chart?” Beast scoffed. “J-Just for the contestants, ma’am,” they murmured. Beast let out a low growl. The staff member looked away, seeming to shrink in on themself. “W-we have information to pass on to you all, a-and it’s easiest to do it when you’re all together during m-mealtimes.” “… fine. Whatever,” Beast huffed. “I don’t care.” ‘I just need to stick it out during meal times. That’s it. I can do that.’ As Beast closed the gap between herself and the table, she let her gaze harden to rock. She wasn’t about to be friendly. She wasn’t even about to be polite. She was here for food and information. That was it. But that didn’t stop everyone’s eyes from shifting to her. Their conversation paused awkwardly as she slowed to a stop. Her tail twitched- once, twice- ‘stop looking at me stop it stop it-‘ and eventually the staff member gave a soft cough. “This is the Beast- your last fellow contestant,” they explained, “to reiterate: the Lady has a few more bits of information for you all before you can retire to your rooms for the night. Please remain here until then.” They gave a stiff bow, not meeting anyone’s gaze. “Getting acquainted is… encouraged… but not required. Her favor be yours.” And with that, they skittered off, getting lost in the buzzing crowd in an instant. Beast didn’t get another second to steel herself before the group started talking again. Only this time, they were talking to her. “Hey hey there miss!” The blue one beamed, getting up from his seat. “Glad to finally meet you!!! We haven’t been waiting too long, don’t worry- how far along did you get?” “None of y-“ “The beast- what a title!” The purple one gasped, clapping her hands close to her cheek. “Sit down, sit down- I bet you’re hungry! We can do introductions again in a second!” “No, it’s-“ “Uh, guys, we need to make some space for her,” the yellow one spoke up. She adjusted her glasses sheepishly, flashing beast an apologetic smile.  “We’re sorta taking up the whole table.” “Good, i-“ “Oh, not to worry- she can have my seat,” the gray one said gently. Their tone honestly disarmed her more than anything- so matter of fact and measured, not at all like the volume and pep of the others. Yet somehow still soft? They rose from their seat, and beast shook her head, intent on denying that she needed one before- “No no, don’t worry dude,” the blue one chuckled, “I got this!” And without batting an eye, he hefted up a nearby chair with one hand, setting it down right in front of her. “I don’t n-“ “Waste of strength,” the green one mumbled, just loud enough that beast could catch it over the cafeteria din. And for the first time, she was inclined to agree with a fellow contestant. Her gaze snapped to him, searching desperately for a sign that he could leave any time he wanted- because if he could, then she could- but to no avail. All that met her was a frigid dagger-like glare. No way out. No way through. Only noise, and people, and closeness, and noise, and people, and a hand on her back- “Here, I’ve got your chair pulled ou- AUGH!” A sharp cry of pain. And everything was quiet. Suffocatingly so. … it took beast a moment to realize she tasted blood. In what felt like slow motion, her other senses trickled back. Her chest heaved with labored breaths. The fur along her spine stood on end. She could feel her muzzle twisted into a vicious snarl. The buzz of the cafeteria came back, albeit… much quieter. Like birds in the wake of a gunshot. White lost its grip on her vision, clouds parting into something coherent. Now she could take in the scene before her. She had moved. Only a few steps, but she was practically on top of the table. Her head was twisted to one side awkwardly, and everyone at the table was staring at her in shock. The yellow one was half out of her chair, horrified eyes over a half open mouth. Some hastily built gadget was halfway out of her pocket, but she didn’t dare remove it fully. The gray one hadn’t moved, just frozen on the spot. Their hands were clenched tight enough to turn their knuckles white- impressive with the pale shade of their skin. The purple one’s phone had vanished. Presumably dropped on the floor. Her hands were clasped tightly over her mouth, as if holding back a scream. The green one’s gaze had shifted from a glare to a quiet look of surprise. If she were reading into his look, she might have seen intrigue. Then there was the blue one, who- … Who’s arm she’d evidently sunk her teeth into. Oh. With a low growl, Beast released blue’s arm, pulling back to wipe at her mouth. He moved back fast, grimacing for just a moment as he scrambled for some napkins. Deep red stained her muzzle like rust, and she quickly licked the remains of blood off her teeth. She’d bitten him hard. He’d need more than napkins. “Don’t. Touch. Me,” beast hissed softly. Narrowing her eyes, she cast her gaze across the rest of the table. Just daring anyone to talk over her now. Nobody did. “I’m not here to make friends. I’m not here to shake hands and have fun. I’m here to win. So leave me the hell alone, unless you want me to maul you. Understood?” A round of nods from yellow, gray, and purple, green only giving a short hum of confirmation. Blue mumbled something like ‘yes ma’am,’ wincing as he gingerly prodded at his arm. “Good.” With that, Beast sat heavily in her chair. She crossed her arms over her chest, giving everyone a challenging glare. None of them met her eyes for more than a second. Instead, she watched them scoot their chairs a bit farther from her, their conversation resuming in wary, hushed whispers. This prompted a snort. Rolling her eyes, she just leaned back in her chair, determined not to pay them any more mind. But her traitorous ears kept flicking back in their direction. “… ok? She really got you…” “… what’s her problem? Why did she do that…?” “… i’ll be fine… just means boundaries around touch, it’s ok…” “… call someone? Healer’s, perhaps…?” “… steer clear of her for now, not worth the extra damage…” She didn’t care. She didn’t care. This is what she wanted, right? For everyone to leave her alone? Yes, of course it was. She didn’t need friends. She didn’t need anyone. She just needed to win, get her wish, and go home. … so why their words were like little stings against her hide? She shook it off. ‘Focus.’ Maybe she’d try and catch a whiff of the food. See what they were having. Yeah, ok. That would work. Beast had just barely lifted her nose to the cafeteria scent when a familiar jingle sounded off behind her. All at once, her gaze and everyone else’s snapped toward the noise. Various expressions of surprise floated up from the group. It was the Jester. “Well well well, if it isn’t my lovely friends from the arena!” Jester grinned. They gave a little bow, hat jingling as they swung back into a jaunty stance. They looked clean and polished as ever- no sign of the earlier beating Beast had given them. Not even a scab or scar from her slashes, or a sickly haze from her poison, or even a patch in their sleeve. And from a quick glance at the other contestants, it seemed she wasn’t the only one surprised to see them on their feet. “Er- good to see you up again, Jester,” the yellow one smiled hesitantly. “Are you feeling alright? You went down hard in the arena,” the gray one chimed in. “I was worried after how many of my spells landed,” the purple one sighed apologetically. The green one just watched, a flash of interest and what was probably a dash of respect in their eyes. “Oh, man, you’re really a trooper! Glad to see you walking around!” The blue one spoke up, smiling even as he stuffed more bloodied napkins on his arm. “…how many of us did you fight today?” Beast asked softly, awestruck horror prickling at her spine. Jester just grinned wider, waving a hand at them all. “Aww, pretending to care is sweet, but you might wanna save it for yourselves,” they giggled, winking. “It takes a lot more than six contestants to knock me off my feet!” They laughed again, the sound souring like old milk. Yellow and purple tried to laugh as well, everyone sharing a look. Well. At least they all had the sense to be weirded out by this guy. “Anyways, why aren’t you all worried about that?” Jester asked, jabbing a finger in blue’s direction. Beast felt her cheeks grow hot under her fur as they sauntered over, taking his arm and swatting away the napkins without a second thought. Rivulets of red were still dripping from the bite in his forearm. The little divots from her teeth didn’t look so small now. They looked deep. Vague annoyance flashed across Jester’s face, smile twitching like a cat’s tail. “Did they not take you to the healers? With a wound like this? Sheesh- I gotta have a talk with cleanup.” “Uh- no, no, they did! I just- uh- Y’know, uh,” blue stammered, like he was floundering for an excuse. He was looking everywhere but her. Was he- was he trying to cover for her? Oh hell no. This was her doing- her viciousness. Everyone should know it. ‘So they can stay away.’ “That one was me.” Everyone looked over at Beast at her sudden interjection. She shrugged, trying not to squirm under all those eyes “What? It was,” she growled. “Healers were fine.” Licking her teeth, she tried vainly to wipe away the scarlet around her muzzle. A beat of uncomfortable silence followed. “… huh.” Jester finally said. “Welp- let’s stick a pin in that for now- or, maybe a bandaid would work better.” They flicked their wrist, a green bandage like the one on beast’s cheek slipping into their hand. They unceremoniously slapped it onto blue’s arm. He flinched at the action, but relaxed a moment later as a green haze slid over his wound. “Theeere we go. You’ll be fine in a tick,” Jester hummed. “So!” They clapped their hands together, stepping back so everyone could see them. “Lets get on with our announcements, shall we?” Clearing their throat, they reached behind their back to pull out an old timey scroll. They bounced on their heels as they read, bells jingling in time. “Any news about the dungeons and rules for new episodes- should you get past your first, ehehe- will be passed to ya during breakfast. If you wanna review what ‘heart’s desire’ you told us you’re fighting for or see your episode progress, just flag me down. If you can’t find me, ask a staff member- I’ll be right over to keep ya on the right track. Next, I’ve got rooms with all of your lovely titles on em, and a well stocked common room for you all to duke it out over the cozy chairs and snacks in!” That perked the group up. Beast in particular was keen on the mention of rooms- she’d been dying to skitter off and decompress. Preferably alone. But her hopes shattered with the Jester’s next words. “I’ll read off your roommate assignments and we’ll head over, alright?” “Roommates?” Beast blurted before anyone could answer. “We’ve got roommates?” “Well, yeah, duh,” Jester snickered, rolling their eyes. “Ya think we have a lotta rooms to spare with the crew we have crawling around?” “Well- no, but I-“ Beast sputtered indignantly. “Does anyone else have a problem with it?” Jester asked, smile twitching. “I mean, whatever works best for you guys! I don’t mind!” purple beamed annoyingly. “What she said- I can make it work,” yellow nodded. “Whatever keeps things functioning adequately,” gray agreed. “If I must,” green huffed. “Oh, hell yeah, sleepovers every night!” blue crowed. Jester met Beast’s horrified look with a smug, glassy grin. “Seems it’s settled, then~” they chirped. Beast growled low as she slumped in her seat. “I guess it is,” she shot back. But with all the venom in her tone, her hands were tied. And her stomach was too- tied in plenty of anxious knots. ‘Not weak, don’t show it, not weak, not weak,’ her mind hissed. So she kept her eyes half lidded, her expression bored. Jester seemed to take that as their cue to move on. “Ahem! So, starting off our roommate list is the Warrior and the Thief!” They said brightly. The blue one- or rather, the Warrior- perked up excitedly, casting an enthusiastic grin at green- the Thief. “Hey, we’re bunk mates!!! Isn’t that great?!” He beamed. The Thief’s answering glare was enough to bore holes through steel. But that didn’t deter the Warrior. He didn’t seem to notice the withering look, instead opting to sling an arm over Thief’s shoulder. “It’s gonna be great!!! We’re gonna have so much fun!” “You have approximately five seconds to get off me before I stab you,” Thief hissed softly. Warrior promptly removed his arm. ‘Heh. My kinda guy,’ beast snorted. “No hugs, got it! But we’re still gonna be best buds, I know we will,” Warrior laughed. Thief just stared at him, annoyance and resignation all over his face. Beast didn’t envy him one bit. “Next up, we have the Robot and the Inventor,” Jester continued. “Oh! How nice,” gray- the Robot- smiled gently. They nodded politely to yellow- the Inventor. “I look forward to our cohabitation.” “Oh!!! Hey, yeah, me too!” the Inventor beamed. Her eyes sparkled under her glasses. Seems she was hoping for this matchup. “I’ve got a feeling we’ll have plenty to chat about!” “I’d be happy to discuss any manner of topics,” Robot affirmed. But… wait a minute. That left purple by herself. Unless… Oh. Oh gods no. They weren’t gonna put her with- “And lastly, we have the Witch and the Beast!” Jester chirped. A tense silence fell over the group as Beast and purple- the Witch- stared blankly at Jester. The Witch was first to recover. “Well, um, I know it’s not ideal, but I’m sure we’ll get along,” Witch said, smiling hesitantly. “I’ll be sure to give you plenty of space, and maybe we could-“ “Good,” Beast interrupted. A smoke filled huff accompanied narrowed eyes. Gods, this was the last person she would’ve chosen- why the hell did they put her with this peppy covergirl? She hunched her shoulders as she sank lower in her chair. “Space is good. And so is being quiet.” Witch paused, an awkward giggle slipping out. “I- um-“ she tried, only for Beast to shut her down. “Just stay on your side of the room, keep the yapping to a minimum, and we won’t have a problem. Probably,” Beast growled, glancing away. “O-okay,” Witch said lamely. “… alright! Good talk,” Jester broke in. With a jingle and a mirthless chuckle, they put their scroll away. “C’mon then, my woeful wanderers! Let's get you to your rooms!” They sprung onto their hands, sliding into a cartwheel towards the hallway. Warrior was first after them, grinning ear to ear, Thief trailing sullenly behind him. Robot and Inventor got up together, already chatting as they followed. Which left Witch and Beast at the table. Witch hesitated for just a moment. Her mouth opened, a hand trailing towards Beast’s shoulder before she decided against it. She just flashed her a warm smile before heading off with the others. Beast watched them go until it was almost too late to follow. But follow she did. Laughter and chatter bounced around the hall, smiles and questions and banter slinging between her five fellow contestants, Jester’s merry jingling heading up the awful ensemble. Beast grumbled softly behind them. No food yet. A shared common room. Roommates. Ugh. She couldn’t think of a way this could get any worse.

The Thrill Killers
In case you’ve forgotten, Ray Dennis Steckler from MUZ made more movies that starred himself under the name ‘Cash Flagg’, which is right up there with ‘Touch Connors’ on the list of Stage Names People Probably Cringed Over Later In Life.  The Thrill Killers also features a number of other people who were in MUZ, including Atlas King (the foreigny guy), Erina Enyo (Estrella), and Carolyn Brandt (Marge). It’s also got Gary Kent, who was never on MST3K but did do stunts on Bubba Ho-Tep, so that’s neat.  Almost all of these people are playing characters with the same first name as themselves, which seems to suggest the writers weren't feeling very creative.
A narrator introduces us to Joe Saxon, a guy attempting to schmooze his way into the movie business by throwing incredibly lame parties and inviting Hollywood bigwigs.  This doesn't seem to be impressing anybody, and certainly not Joe's wife Liz, who soon gets fed up and decides to leave him.  When Joe follows in the hope of winning her back, their paths cross with those of three escaped mental patients, who have been murdering their way through a bunch of NPCs as they head for who-knows-where.  From there, it's just twenty minutes of bongos, people running around in the desert, and disorganized shootouts.
The narrator is only in the first five or six minutes, which is a shame, because during that time he rambles in a way that's almost as mesmerizingly incoherent as in The Beast of Yucca Flats. He even has a similar favourite word!  Instead of 'progress', this is 'unreality', as he tells us that Joe is living in a fantasy of future stardom while the real world is fast catching up with him.  I was very disappointed when the movie traded the Narrator for actual dialogue.  He was my second-favourite character (my favourite was the horse).
The narrator also introduces Dennis Kesdekian, a Greek immigrant with a family to support.  In contrast with Joe, Dennis is a realist, who intends to work hard and build a life for his children in America. The setup leads us to expect that the two men will meet and their worldviews clash over the course of the story, but it's a trick – moments later, Dennis is murdered by Steckler, who steals his car and leaves his corpse at the side of the road.  This once, it's actually kind of effective, but our lesson has been learned: the movie only wants us to like these people so we can be shocked when they die, and we're not going to fall for it again.
Tumblr media
It doesn't help that the next people who crop up are obvious Designated Victims – a couple, Ron and Carol, who are on their way to look at the house they're buying in anticipation of their upcoming wedding. If that weren't enough, the house is a dilapidated wreck and Ron has to cheer Carol up by talking about how they'll renovate it as they wander around looking for the owner they were supposed to meet. Between the ominous surroundings and the couple looking forward to a bright future, these two are definitely going to die.
And they do... but man, do they take a long time about it.  It's respectable as an attempt to build suspense but everything goes on just a little too long before they find the escaped murderers and the previous owner's rubbery severed head, and then a little too long again after. There was a moment in there when I thought Carol might survive and escape, but again, it's a trick the movie plays on us, and she finally dies as well.
Tumblr media
This is pretty standard behaviour for a slasher movie, but for some reason it pisses me off here.  I think it's because it actually worked so well in the opening.  The death of Dennis really was a surprise, but it also made me cynical.  The Thrill Killers clearly doesn't care about its characters or their stories, it just wants to show me violence.  When it later pretends that Carol might escape, it's only so that it can show me more violence, as the three murderers chase her, capture her, and lose her again, threaten her with guns, knives, and an axe, and as she screams and sobs and pleads for her life.
To nobody's surprise, most of this drawn-out torment is visited upon the women in the movie.  Ron's end is delayed a little, but that's mostly to further abuse poor Carol – his actual death is swift, as he is beheaded.  Another victim, a dancer, is teased and beaten up before finally being stabbed to death with a pair of scissors.  Joe's wife Liz is chased around the desert by a knife-wielding maniac at ridiculous length, and when she finally manages to flag down a car it turns out things have only gotten worse, as the driver is another murderer! Her prolonged terror was so similar to Carol's that I was actually astonished she survived.
Other than Ron, when men die in this movie, they do so quickly and with no fuss.  Dennis at the beginning is shot and dies at once.  One of the escaped murderers drinks strychnine-laced coffee and immediately collapses, which I don't think is how poison works (Wikipedia bore me out on this: even strychnine takes at least ten minutes).  Another is thrown off a cliff using the classic 'toss a cloth dummy over the edge' technique, which is always hugely unconvincing but often, as here, very funny.  A third is shot by a policeman after a long horse chase.
Tumblr media
We've arrived at the horse!  Ray Dennis Steckler rides through the desert on a horse being chased by a cop on a motorcycle, with the terrain and the vegetation always giving just enough of an advantage for Steckler to stay ahead.  This is a cool idea but it goes on way too long, and the sequence is designed to feel very different from the torturous chases of Carol and Liz.  The women's escape almost always seems hopeless, and they have no weapon to fight back against their pursuers.  All they can do is run, on their feet, in high heels. Steckler has a horse and a gun.  He shoots several of the cops before they finally catch him, which only happens after he's been forced to abandon both mount and weapon.  Where Carol and Liz were always helpless, Steckler is in a position of power even when he is desperate and running for his life.
The horse chase is easily the funniest part of the movie, though.  It comes out of nowhere, for one thing – Steckler drives his car into a clearing where there's this guy in a cowboy hat sitting by a campfire.  We've never seen this dude before, and we never find out anything about him (although after the previous attempts to make me care about characters who are only going to die, I'm kind of grateful).  Steckler shoots him, takes his hat, and then gets the horse.  We have no reason to believe this character has ever been on a horse in his life, but the stunt rider they used clearly knows what he's doing... so I choose to believe that stealing the hat magically gave Steckler the ability to ride a horse!  Then there's the end of the sequence, when they get into terrain that can only be traversed on foot.  Steckler abandons the horse and runs off... and the camera lingers on the animal a little as it seems to stand there going, wait, wtf just happened?
Tumblr media
While the beginning of the movie tries to set up a theme of the fantasy of success (delivered from heaven to solve all your problems) versus the reality (hard fucking work), and then shot itself in the foot by shooting Dennis in the chest... the ending manages to be even worse.  After all this stress and danger, Joe has decided to give up acting and get a real job, and Liz delightedly takes him back.  Then, however, a producer phones to offer him a part – ten weeks' work at five thousand dollars per week!  I have no idea how much this was in 1965 but I sure don't make five thousand dollars per week.  He happily accepts, and Liz also seems thrilled, so I guess the moral of the story is that if you 'earn' them by going through some harrowing shit, your dreams really will just fall into your lap.
Beyond that, the movie doesn't even really try to have a 'theme' unless you count the inevitable 'mentally ill people are scary and dangerous and need to be locked up so the rest of us can pretend they don't exist'. It just wants to show us horrible things happening to people who really don't deserve it.  The only character who might have deserved any of this was Joe, who was neglecting his relationships and chasing an impossible dream... he could have used a good slap about the head from the wet haddock of reality.  But Joe not only survives, he gets his dream just handed to him in the denouement, when he was literal days away from actually trying to get his shit together!
This actually seems to harken back to something from MUZ, a movie which gets a Bert-I-Gordon-esque self-plug from The Thrill Killers in the form of a poster on a diner wall.  In that movie, Steckler's character Jerry didn't want to work – he wanted to just "enjoy life". In The Thrill Killers, Joe wants to be a movie star and insists on living the Hollywood lifestyle even when he can't afford it.  I know I'm not qualified to armchair psychoanalyze these people but here I'm tempted again.  When Steckler's movies feature characters who want to be rich and famous without having to work for it... is he talking about himself and his own hopes for his movie career?
If so, I hate to tell you this, dude... but the reason you failed is because your movies suck.

So I have to ask, and you don't even have to go into detail, but was Bella rebounding with Marcus something you two actually saw as a good possibility or something you threw in for the Lolz? Because, the rest of what Alice said made sense, even Rosalie/Renata made a lot of sense when pointed out, but Bella/Marcus just came zipping out of left field to me. Either way, worth it for Bella's breakdown and all the intrusive thoughts she's gonna have in the future.
(Anon is referring to the last chapter of @theoriginalcarnivorousmuffin and I's cowritten fic For the Love of a Woman, in which Alice gets fed up with everyone and tells them exactly where their fateful decisions will lead them.
Also, apologies, this one has been in my drafts for a month for no other reason than I forgot about it.)
A good possibility, if not a certainty.
The Muffin and I were originally planning to write an epilogue for this story, but epilogues exist to wrap up the story. They have to fit in with the rest of it. As it was, the story wrapped itself up quite well with this argument chapter, with Edward, Esme, and Jacob's bickering serving as a good ending note.
Point being, we knew and had planned out what happens after the curtain falls.
In general, when writing fic - any fic - the Muffin and I ponder what's happening off-screen. Due to the limitations of the given narrator's point of view and creative decisions, not all of this makes it on screen. That doesn't mean the things other characters are up to off-stage doesn't influence the story. The reader might not hear the tree fall in the woods, but the characters do and it affects them. Our challenge as writers is to communicate this to the reader - the reader must be able to understand "Oh my, a tree must have fallen in the woods!"
There's been a lot of that in For the Love of a Woman, perhaps more so than usual in our fics. Jacob isn't in a position to know what Bella or the Cullens are thinking or doing when he's not around, they actively go out of their way to keep him out of their confidence, and his guesses are wrong more often than not.
As a result, the Muffin and I know exactly what's happening off screen, but Jacob wouldn't know about a lot of it and so we can't show it either. Bella's funeral is one example of this, as it was an absolute clusterfuck that we planned out and were going to write, only to realize that the boys would miss it and, more, it would be an entire chapter of essentially filler. It had to go, but lives on in the form of Esme blocking Edward and rapidly changing the subject when he tries to ask about the funeral. Carlisle and Bella discussing Bella's upcoming transformation is another example, Jacob and Edward fail to realize what they're hearing but the reader can read that conversation and draw their own conclusions.
Point being, we had it all planned out.
That's where Alice's vision comes in - we know what happens to the gang after the story ends, and were originally going to write an epilogue. However, the epilogue just... it didn't work. The story had an ending, it was neat and we liked it, and it felt much more organic and, frankly, on brand for the fic to have Alice say "You are all idiots and you're all going to have questionable love affairs. HAVE FUN WITH THAT."
TL;DR: why write an epilogue when Alice can spoil what would happen in it instead?
This is where the post would usually be over, but the Muffin or I are gonna have to explain Alice's vision and this might as well be the post
So you get a two-in-one.
Carlisle and Bella's ending
Over the course of the fic, Carlisle learned that he didn't have the kind, wise, and bright son he thought he had. Edward very much blew that to kingdom come. He's left wondering who Edward ever even was, and as it happens there is someone who can answer that question. This is his main reason for wanting to go to Volterra, showing that Bella is a vampire and confronting Aro about the Eclipse disaster is bonus reasons.
Well, he gets there, and he and Bella get the Edward Chronicles: Unfiltered.
With no family or home to return to in the outside world, and both him and Bella still recovering their footing in a world that isn't what they thought it was at all, he ends up staying for a while.
Bella, meanwhile, lost not just the love of her life in this shocking and incomprehensible way where she learned that she never knew him in the first place, but her best friend as well. The two people most important to her went mad, seemingly overnight. And then, as a bonus, she learns that Carlisle and Esme's marriage (which was the Cullen family bedrock) is a disaster, they fall apart, and next thing she knows Carlisle is sleeping with Aro.
To say nothing of the fact that all these men in her life that Bella took for granted were straight, turned out to very much not be.
Enter, then, a vampire whose gift is to see relationships. And who is too apathetic, too indifferent to this world, to pull any surprises or deceptions on her.
Ask Marcus "What's up with this guy?" and Marcus will tell you "Oedipus complex." without missing a beat.
Bella will seek out Marcus and, following the recipe if not the same series of events as Painting Red Madonnas, develop a close rapport with him. Given time, we have faith this utterly weird girl would find herself in an utterly weird bromance with the guy, that at some point down the line gives way to love.
Carlisle, meanwhile, finds that the technological advances of the human world mean that he can't simply jump right back into being a doctor. That door is closed.
Not to mention, there was a reason why he left Volterra in the first place. He wanted to find others, prove it wasn't just him out there -- and he found no one other, only the Denali, and the coven he made for himself has fallen apart. As it is, the one vegetarian left to him is already in Volterra.
As there is only the nomad life awaiting outside Volterra, and plenty of reasons to stay, Carlisle does not leave.
And Bella, well, Bella's vibing.
Rosalie and Emmett's ending
Rosalie and Emmett have the strongest relationship out of the Cullens, but that's not to say they'll be able to weather any storm. Living as just the two of them, indefinitely, soon unable to live among humans, will break them.
Within a few years they're forced to become full on nomads, and that's when the relationship starts deteriorating for real.
Without specific thought to how the breakup happens, it inevitably will. The Renata/Rosalie outcome hinges on Rosalie getting a lot of character development, though, as she learns not to need others or human rituals for the sake of validation or to feel like she's worth something. (But, that's probably a meta of its own. Or, god, might be it's been written, I can't even remember.)
Rosalie goes to Volterra to see Carlisle and Bella, the only people she has left now that she doesn't have Emmett any longer.
And then, well, she finds herself in Carlisle's shoes.
She could leave again, to be sure, leave and be a lone nomad.
Or she could stay, be with the scattered remnant of family she has left, and have a semblance of stability - of something more than lurking around in the woods. She'll be able to stay in touch, somewhat, with the world, if only through Aro's ever-expanding archive of human culture and history.
Rosalie stays.
We singled out Renata as the two women should be able to bond over monstrous men and what it means to be a woman in a man's world. Wouldn't happen in canon, mind you, but this is a Rosalie who has been through the kind of character development required to break up with Emmett.
Alice and Jasper's ending
He's dumped.
Alice stakes out a new path, wherever her visions take her. I imagine, for a while, she stays with the Denali. Could be a very long while.
Jasper loafs around for a while, at first with Peter and Charlotte, then eventually making his way to where Carlisle is, as the diet is unsustainable when in a coven of human drinkers, at least for Jasper.

Midoriya & Shinsou & Jirou bandmates tddk AU
I probably won't write a full story but these were my ideas!
Midoriya and Shinsou met at the hero entrance exam, where they both failed. They both got hurt and Midoriya started talking while they were waiting their turn to see Recovery Girl, asking Shinsou about what he plans to do. Of course he's going to gen ed and plans on transferring to the hero course. Midoriya says he's going to try for support and is giving up on the hero course; he realized last year that he never stood a chance anyway. He really just took the exam so he wouldn't dwell on what ifs and maybes. He doesn't know what he wants to do with his life. Making support gear for heroes would be nice but he's not confident in his abilities. He veeery shyly admits that he sings and plays guitar and would love to start a band and make a career out of that but he's sure no one would want to be in a band with a quirkless loser. But using what he learns in support to make special effects for concerts and music videos would be really neat!
Shinsou knows how to play the drums and is a little curious. He knows he'll need support gear to be a hero so making a friend in the support course could be useful. He suggests they get together sometime and play something. He doesn't actually think he'll be friends with Midoriya—the plan is more to make a connection and use him to help himself—but Midoriya ends up being the best friend he's ever had. They become ride or die pretty fast.
After the first couple of weeks of school (so after USJ) there's an event for clubs to recruit members. Aizawa tells his class they can join but they have to be mindful. The hero course is rigorous, so committing to a club that requires a lot of time would be irresponsible. Jirou has no intentions of joining any clubs but the entire class checks out the event, just to snoop. Midoriya and Shinsou have a table but no one seems interested. They're freaking bc you need a minimum of four members to count as a club and get a club room and NO ONE is interested.
Jirou has no plans to join but is curious to hear them play. They aren't allowed to play at the event but they knew this beforehand so they shot a video of them playing. It's nothing fancy—Midoriya just hands her his phone—but Jirou hears them and is blown away. They're good and Midoriya's voice is amazing. Right now I wanna say the song they're playing is Favorite Liar from The Wrecks.
She doesn't commit but agrees to come see one practice. She probably won't join though. She'll bring her bass, bc they don't have a bassist, but she definitely isn't going to join.
One song together and she joins.
They need a fourth person though and the deadline is looming! Jirou ends up asking the rest of 1A if anyone can play an instrument or sing. Bakugou plays drums but he isn't about to do her any favors. But Yaoyorozu plays piano! Jirou begs her to join—she doesn't even have to come to practice. She can just be in the band in name and play a little keyboard at a few club events so the teachers don't realize she doesn't actually participate.
What Jirou doesn't know is Yaoyorozu has a crush on her. So yes she'll join and yes, she will come to practice, actually. Maybe. Probably. She's very nervous bc Jirou is talented and cool and pretty and maybe this was a bad idea after all, oh no.
She agrees to come see them practice and brings her bff Todoroki with her for emotional support. He agrees mostly bc being with the Yaoyorozu's daughter is always an acceptable excuse for not going home.
They go to a practice just to watch and Todoroki feels just a little awkward bc no one told him the lead singer of Jirou's band was the cutest guy Todoroki has or ever will see in his life. The band plays and Todoroki and Yaoyorozu are both in love. Yaoyorozu joins the band immediately. Todoroki doesn't but maybe he could come by just to hang out sometimes? Maybe he can just help out? He can lift heavy equipment. So can Shinsou and Yaoyorozu? Well, he can help with other stuff! Anything! Costumes! Makeup! Anything to support his bff Momo, who is definitely why he's here, not bc of the cute boy, no siree.
As the story progresses, Todoroki is having makeup and nail polish application sessions with Fuyumi. He's watching YouTube makeup tutorials. Midoriya doesn't need to know he spent an hour every day for two weeks practicing eyeliner wings. Whenever they get a chance to play for a crowd or they make a video Todoroki gets to do Midoriya's makeup and help him with his clothes (and also the rest of the band but who cares about them?). It's the most wonderful torture. How is he supposed to check how Midoriya's makeup looks without getting lost in his eyes?
Little does he know, Midoriya is having constant internal meltdowns because the hottest guy he's ever met is touching is face. Whenever he wears a choker or necklace Todoroki gets the clasp for him (he doesn't realize everyone else has to do their own clasps). His fingers touch the back of his neck and it takes every once of his willpower not to run away because it seems so intimate and if he isn't careful he'll start hoping bc Todoroki is so nice to him and sometimes it seems like he gives him special attention but that's probably just his imagination, but maybe...? No! Or...aaahhh, he can't handle it!
At some point Ashido wants to see what Jirou, Yaoyorozu, and Todoroki are up to so she stops by. She's super impressed but Midoriya is too stiff! She doesn't officially join but she starts stopping by when she can to teach Midoriya some dance moves and help him with his stage presence and sex appeal. In exchange Midoriya tutors her bc he's basically a genius and she's bad at pretty much all her non-hero classes, like Math and English. Kaminari starts getting curious about what Ashido is doing so he stops by one day and hoo boy is that drummer so super cool! He starts talking to Shinsou and sparks fly (Sparks? Kaminari?? Get it?? Lolol, wow, I am so funny!) Kaminari helps with lighting for videos and shows and also gets tutoring in return (and now Shinsou is also joining these study sessions because...reasons. Certainly not the cute blond guy. He just likes studying...)
Ashido and Kaminari's grades improve! Yay!
And that's all I got. I have no clue how anyone would actually get together, which is why I'll probably never write a proper fic.
As far as the band's genre, they're really all over the place because they want to experiment a lot. So you got some alt rock, grunge, pop, love ballads, power ballads...they definitely do at least one video that is a super upbeat love song with bright 80s clothing and one video where they're all dressed like punks.
So yeah! That's what I got! Midoriya's guitar is probably either red or the same bluish-green his hero costume would have been, in another life. I feel like for the first half his hair is cute and poofy and maybe halfway through the story he gets an undercut. Sometimes he pushes his bangs up with a clip or a band.
