ALEX!!! 💕💕💕 my dear friend, first of all THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THESE 🥺🥺🥺 i shall do my best to answer them as thoroughly as possible :DDD

⏳ In which aspects have you seen Patrick change? As in, the initial idea/concept you had of him VS. Now? 

HMMM, well i make it no secret that his inspo is professor layton, specifically in the third game- like literally, i think i made a post adding him to my muse roster on suki’s blog ( JK IT WAS ON CALUM’S BLOG here’s the post tho )...i was honestly debating between whether to make an oc inspired by her*shel lay*ton or just to write the professor himself. But i also wasn’t confident in my ability to write canon characters and i also knew that the layton rp community is kinda…dead?? ANYWAYS, when patrick started out, i originally planned for him to be very similar to layton himself: someone whose life at multiple points has been marked by significant losses, but because these losses happened a while back, someone who has learned to, not necessarily move forward (yet) but more of learned how to live with the grief. Since the creators of the lay*ton games probably didn’t have as much time to flesh out the professor in the third game as i would have wanted them too, patrick was basically supposed to be my exploration of that…you could say patrick in a way, is my self-indulgent lay*ton fanfiction FJSKLDJFLSD 😂

But to be more specific about the initial concepts, patrick was supposed much more in touch with the outside world ( henceforth the ‘anthropology’ part of his career once upon a time :’D ), more adventurous and also a tad more…brusque? more frigid? Kinda like that professor who’s always affable and you admire from a distance, but u wouldn’t necessarily go to for emotional support….basically not quite the gay english professor that all of the queer kids end up loving and subconsciously consider him the father figure they never had :’D

This is all way, if i may compare patrick to lay*ton, i’d say patrick ended up be way more milder, reserved and closed off in comparison to lay*ton. Warmer too although i think part of that also comes from his relationship with hyuk AKA as once stated, hyuk uses his teeth for patrick so patrick doesn’t have to grow them himself. Also while the two do more or less do still have the same demeanor, but patrick, in particular, is unabashedly biased towards his loved ones. Would drop everything for them even his morals ( which isn’t exactly very good of a gentleman :’D ). So i’d say in that sense, lay*ton is almost?? Ironically milder in this sense? In while he does have preferences, he doesn’t have as many sheer dislikes….patrick on the other hand does have very specific dislikes that while he doesn’t vocalize, it’s very obvious to know what they are. 

I’ve also noticed in this past year, patrick, depending on the verse, is becoming a lot more…petty morally ambiguous ( hyuk come collect your person and chastise him too fjksldjfdls :’D ). Selfless yes, but the means and his way of thinking uh….maybe it’s not the most morally upright version :’D i also do think he’s a bit more prone to silliness too in comparison to my original concept <3

⏳ If he had the time and availability to have a pet, which one do you see him choosing?

It’s more apparent in verse three and maybe even verse two, but patrick is very much of a cat person. Not that he hates dogs, but i do think he’s more drawn to cats, whether they’re on the sillier side or the reserved side- he’s a big proponent of self-suffiency and since the man is like, always working, he would want a furry companion who doesn’t mind just passing the hours in peaceful quiet :’D as of right now, he could probably get a cat, but it’d be an adult cat, probably one still pretty young.

If he gets one after elise has flown the nest though…i could see him getting a kitten :’D preferably a stray one bc patrick has a tendency of taking in strays, human or not &lt;3 <3 <3

⏳ Did he use to have a favorite place when he was a child? Somewhere he remembers with fondness?

Libraries have always been a source of solace for patrick especially when he was in secondary school. As the only asian kid in his town and not to mention probably the only kid that was adopted, the books in the library provided him with examples of sorts of people who were more like him…granted in the 1980s there probably wasn’t as much as there is now, but it certainly made him feel less alone. So i’d say the library in his childhood would be one of his favorite places aka one place he also would probably sleep over in if not for the librarian kicking him out :’D i’d say if he didn’t get in engrossed in academia and teaching, he’d probably be a librarian ( which he was in his second life &lt;3 )

⏳ What's a place he's always wanted to visit but hasn't? 

Anywhere that has hyuk in it. OKAY BUT SERIOUSLY, i would say….maybe yeongju? Since that’s where he was born originally although patrick wouldn’t actually know that until like after the whole thing with felicity went down. But i do think it is a place that would also help explain some of the strange images he sometimes gets of his past life as a seonbi…

There is something I need so desperately to be understood. Those edits of DPS to the Piano Man verse "now Paul is a real estate novelist" etc etc, great, wonderful, excellently done. However, none of y'all are doing it right (that I've seen). So, I will be breaking it down:

"Now Paul is a real estate novelist, who never had time for a wife" is Todd. And it is important that it stays real estate novelist, Todd wants to be an author but as long as he's writing, he's okay with it, even if it's means he's not truely happy with it, at least he's still writing. I'm not explaining the never had time for a wife part, that's self explanatory

"And he's talk to Davey, who's still in the navy and probably will be for life" is Meeks. This is the part where everyone messes up. Its saying that Davey died in the navy, he is never coming home. Meeks canonically steps on a landmine and dies in Vietnam!!! Also, Davey is stuck in service. Meeks was always serving, thats why he joined the army

"And the waitress is practicing politics" is Cameron, another part which is commonly wrong (in my opinion), but I fear that's just cause some people within this fandom don't like Cameron... And see, this line is also important to stay as is, all Cameron wants is to make his parents proud, which they only will be if he's successful, but he isn't, he's just a waiter who's trying to be something bigger than himself

"Well a business man slowly gets stoned" is Charlie. The intention behind this line (to me) is that the business man hates his job and life, this bar and smoking are his only escapes because he was unable to follow his passions (it could also be alive au Neil but that gets complicated with the rest of the audio clip used for these edits)

"Yes they're sharing a drink called loneliness" is literally any scene where they're all happy, when they're running out to the cave is a good one, the scene where they carry Keating at the soccer field, those are the main ones I imagine but its flexible

"But its better than drinking alone" is Neil. Specifically, when hes turned out to the audience at the end of A Midsummer Night's Dream, and it fades out on his forlorn face as the song fades

I kinda had this idea of different levels of being glitched

Cross: the final overwrite gave him back all the memories of his past iterations. I imagine his code has a lot of extra data now. Some of it are repeating code unneeded, others are drastic changes and clash with other parts of his code. I think he has one main code and all the other codes from past iterations is just backed up data saved to his soul he can access it but it’s separate from who he is now if that makes sense. He wouldn’t want it fixed though they were all him at some point.

Dust: I remember in Dusttale canon he didn’t originally remember the player changed him so he would remember. Anyone looking at his code wouldn’t find much a couple extra lines of code and one line of code changed from No to Yes (remember timelines). I don’t see him wanting it to change cause on some level he doesn’t want to forget he doesn’t deserve to just forget after everything he’s done.

Geno: His code wasn’t changed but it is different. Parts are missing so his body made new code to replace the missing parts. Some parts are a little scrambled around but don’t affect much. He’s fine with how he is it’s not all that different from who he was really. Fatal: His code has been butchered it’s still there just not the same anymore. Parts have been cleaved out in thin strips. A lot of it is scrambled around the missing parts aren’t making new code so he’s stuck with empty pockets of code in his being. He would want to be fixed to be who he was again he didn’t ask for this.

Error: His code looked like it was put in the blender shredded to tiny pieces all mixed up with a couple big chunks standing out then they poured it into the shape of a skeleton. He can’t miss what he doesn’t remember he doesn’t really care about his messed up code he knows he’s an error it doesn’t change his goals. Blueberror/Blooper: His codes been scrambled all around less then Error bigger chunks remain and it’s not completely shredded. He wants to be who he was before not the thing he is now is that too much to ask for.

Killer: Anyone looking at his code would’ve disturbed. Huge chunks of his original code are missing leaving behind crumbs of who he once was. Someone shoved in new code regardless of the size and then used more code to stitch the edges to stay connected. Parts are scrambled around, missing, added, some parts are even burned which didn’t even think could happen. There’s also the data attached to him so much it starts to black out the sky when looking at his code as they overlap into pure darkness. There’s more oddity but it would require looking deeper. You know what they say you stare into the abyss and the abyss stares back. He knows you’re looking at him and he doesn’t enjoy it. It’s complicated feelings on the matter of fixing himself because that is his goal but parts of himself don’t want to be fixed it doesn’t feel like it would be them anymore.

I imagine that code and the soul are one in the same. The soul stores all of a persons code and date inside them. Changes to the soul changes the code and Vice verse. To mess with either is horrible thing to do someone. I imagine that all errors have their code scrambled and bits missing from their time in the anti-void although it differs in how long they’ve been there, mental strength, and personality.

Wonder how the different levels of code alterations would effect different individuals, from hardly anything noticeable to huge shifts in personality. Maybe even identity and sense of agency.

And i definitely agree that code and the SOUL are one in the same, and id even say that’s the canon interpretation for Undertale: Something New, given that whenever Killer’s SOUL changes into a different Stage—the example we’re shown is his SOUL changing into Stage 2–we also see his code changing from an unidentifiable mess to something like k1ll_sans.

On top of that, Killer states he’s interested in studying others’ SOULs because “each soul has its own unique code,” and I believe we’re shown further examples using Fell Sans and I believe Swap. So at some point, Killer realized the existence of codes, and their ties to people’s SOULs.

And realized that, at some point, his own was changed—although I doubt he realized this in the beginning at all, even if he likely knew about or at least believed in the existence of Players.

And I highly doubt finding out his code alternation changed anything for him in Stage 1 at all. It was still that body’s hands that accepted that Deal, picked up that knife and that bucket of water, and it was still those hands that snuffed out every life they latched onto.

Lab!Rubi is a guardian fallen angel, banished from heaven when it became too attached to the human it was meant to protect. The final straw was when it almost showed itself as a last-ditch effort to save it's human from the cultist trap she was being lead to.

It was held back by other angels before it could though, and it had to watch as she was killed. That was the first time an angel cried in almost 100 years.

Sent to earth, it wandered for a long while before finding the Incredulously Experimental Monster Lab and decided to stay there while it continues to look for her spirit. She feels so close, it'll be any day now when it finds her...

Carnival!Rubi is a gentler AI originally coded for a younger audience who couldn't yet play the main Carnival, who was later added to the main game by popular demand.

Her "neckpiece" is a bow-tie on her collar, since she has no neck to tie anything around. Attempting to pull it off gives a choking sensation, as if being strangled, and can eventually lead to passing out.

By the time Caine appears in the Carnival, she's been keeping herself locked in her room, barring entry to everyone, including Gangle whom she used to be good friends with (and maybe more..?). There should've been no way for Caine to get in, but he does, and is met with a sorry sight [maybe he uses some coding magic idk-]

Hihi!!! 💞👐 my first time in the FF fandom and your stuff for sephiroth was the first thing that I saw, your writing and headcanons for him feel so accurate to his in-game self! If I may, I wanted to request maybe some hcs for a shapeshifter!reader x sephiroth 👉👈 im not really that well versed in the world and lore of ff, so I'm not really sure if a shapeshifter is even plausible in game :')

Maybe reader was an ex experiment of some sorts, made to be used as a weapon?

I just really want to annoy sephiroth as a cat or sumth (i think sephiroth deserves a Turkish angora to match with his gorgeous hair 🤲 despite being around puppies so often)

For a little angsty hcs maybe readers transformations can be painful at times or not even work out properly so they kind of end up looking messed up :') (or they just get something like a dog ear not changing back to a normal human ear after changing back into a human on a more silly note)

This also kind of opens up for more... naughty things, just change a limb into something, y'know. But I saw that you don't write NSFW in your rules so I'm perfectly okay with you leaving this part out! ✧˖° if we’re in crisis core era and its like.. before the events that transpired with genesis n all that— he’d wouldnt be as interested as one might think. he’d def be like, “ooh cool” but after the essential introduction then it’d must become normal to him. i think his reaction would also depend on how well you can control your abilities and how you use them to your advantage !! like— for example; if you can stretch one of your limbs or manipulate any part of your body, he’d wanna experiment with that and ask you some questions whenever you have time. if you can change your shape into an animal or another person though— he’ll definitely have a little more fun with it

✧˖° post nibelheim SEPHIROTH takes more advantage of your situation, especially if you can morph yourself or change into another being. if you can shapeshift into an animal or something small, he’ll have you scope stuff out for him or something like that. he will entirely and shamelessly abuse your power and will somehow make you think that you’re obligated to do this for him— especially if you knew him pre nibelheim and still stuck with him afterwards. you do want him to feel better, right? won’t you do this simple task for him? he promises that he’ll treat you well and will return back to normal if you just do this one thing for him :((

✧˖° i think his fixation on jenova and his own identity might even transfer over to you in some form. i feel like sephiroth believes things happen for a reason and so after his spiral, he often thinks that you were brought to him and that its a sign. he’ll use your ability and somehow connect it to his role in the lifestream and that it symbolizes versatility and you were brought to him with the purpose of your assistance to his goals n whatever blah blah blah post nibelheim SEPHIROTH is mean in his own way and i am sorry but i am not an apologist for this man’s actions !! i fully believe that he would manipulate you into becoming his little puppet to help accomplish his own ambitions.

✧˖° post nibelheim SEPH does care for you, and he’ll always tell you that— but i cant always say that he says it in good faith.

✧˖° but!! on a more positive note, i think ( pre nibelheim ) SEPHIROTH would be heavily amused with having someone who can alter their shape by his side. as anon mentioned in their request, i can totally see SEPHIROTH with a turkish angora or some sort of cat beside him!! i can just see you trotting over to him all of a sudden, hopping up on the back of his chair as you let your fur whoosh with every sauntered move you take. he furrows his brows, thinly arched and silver, before he realizes whose wet snout is pressed against the nape of his neck as he reaches a gloved hand up to run against your pristine ivory coat; earning a soft purr from you. UGHHHH i need this man so bad SEPHIROTH bae you know where home is

✧˖° if the process of shapeshifting is somewhat painful or it’s more abrasive on the way when you shift back, SEPHIROTH will always try his best to comfort you when it gets too difficult. he might be a little awkward, but the best thing he can offer is a reassuring hand on your lower back as he whispers in your ear that everything will be okay in the end. he’ll even try to make you laugh with his dry ass humor, it might not help because he’s so calm in this situation and you’re probably freaking out but he’s trying his best (╥_╥)

✧˖° something that i really like touching upon when i think about shapeshifters or people with the ability to alter their appearance is body and face dysmorphia!! i think it would be inevitable if you switched yourself up enough and would eventually develop some sort of insecurity within yourself and the way you look— perhaps thinking you looked some way when you didn’t or if everything just starts melding in your brain. i’m not sure if SEPHIROTH would know what to do in this situation but i’m sure he’d understand how you could feel this way, especially if you were treated as a weapon ( we’ll touch up on that next !!).

✧˖° i wrote a fic about SEPH feeling uncomfortable with himself due to the fact that it’s like— written in a setting where his wings are just sprouting, and i feel like that would happen at one point. if you wanna include that fic in this little timeline, then i feel like it’d give him all the more reason to come to your aid when you need it. i mean, if you helped him— isn’t it only fair that he does the same? he won’t tolerate any nitpicking at yourself or self deprecating comments, he won’t tolerate self loathing or anything of the sort; he is the there for you and whether you seek comfort in him is up to you, he reminds you.

✧˖° if you wanna include the ex-weapon part in this, i think SEPHIROTH’s heart would break— especially if it’s post nibelheim. pre cc SEPH is utterly baffled that you were treated that way, and is always cautious when addressing the topic or when talking about your feelings revolving around it.

✧˖° i think any decent human being would feel sympathetic when it’d come to a situation like that, but post nibelheim hits wayyy harder for him. after it comes to light that he was an experiment and only created to be the poster boy for shinra / the perfect SOLDIER, he feels for you even more. except, instead of like his previous self where he’d encourage you to work through it and let these feelings of sadness and emptiness pass along with letting go of your trauma, post nibelheim would have you use it and it only gives him more knowledge in order to manipulate you. he’d make it a case of using your resentment and all of these years of hardships to fuel your anger; to further develop these feelings of hatred towards humanity. it just gives him more to manipulate you with. but, you won’t have to worry about a thing when you’re with him, just help him take over and rightfully restore what’s his— what’s yours.

with his mako eyes flickering over your sheen coat glimmering in the sun, SEPHIROTH watched as you cantered along the grass, soft flecks of dirt trapped under the light brown strands of your fur.

he softly chuckled to himself as he watched your small tongue loll out of your mouth as you panted, observing the heat of the sun getting to you ( or more so, your current body in the form of a dog ) as he sat in the shade, safe from its wrath. his eyes, slender and catlike, stayed fixated as he watched you roll around— your tiny body disappearing momentarily beneath the tall, tapered leaves sprouting from the ground.

sephiroth tilted his head up slightly, narrowing his eyes as he scanned along the knoll before he saw your head pop up from the green weeds, this time, coated with your real human hair and regular face. his lips quirked into a half smile while he watched you grin at him lazily, the sun draining you especially as you change your form. he reveled in the way your pink lips split open with your smile. he reveled in the way your eyes lit up when you saw him, even when you held those big, wet puppy eyes.

your hands slid from underneath you, shoulder with the part as you pushed yourself up from the dirt; ignoring the way it got stuck under your fingernails, reminding yourself that you’d have to clean them out later. putting your knee down, you pushed yourself forward and hustled towards him. letting out an airy laugh, you plopped yourself down on the raised hill where sephiroth sat. the tree above you provided shade that you instantly felt relief once you were under, the coolness of the obstruction healing your soon to be burnt skin.

“‘s hot out here, i swear. can nev’r get a break.” you muttered, placing both of your hands on your face as you leaned back into the foreign dirt behind you, uncaring of small bugs simply trying to traverse around you. sephiroth laughed, “i can see that.”

he turned his head to the side, scanning over your heated figure before he cocked his head in bemusement. letting out a small huff, you peeked one eye open out from underneath your elbow— even in the blistering rays of the sun, you could never get tired of sephiroth’s laugh; whether a wry chuckle or a cachinnation that was never intended to make it past his lips. you let out a small huff yourself, “what’s so funny?”

“one body part remains unchanged, dearest.” he lifted a leather clad hand up to his face, motioning towards his ear while his gaze softened; watching how your hands came up to flutter around the right side of your face only to find no ear. your brows crinkled as they met in the middle before you felt on the top of your head, the pads of your thumb and index finger fiddling with the folded ear protruding through your hair. lips forming into an ‘o’, you made an audible noise of surprise before you shut your eyes and let your head loll back again.

you applied pressure on the morphed body part, sephiroth watching in awe as you concentrated on fixing your error. your lips twitched upwards in a small smile before removing your hands and putting them at your sides, looking back at your beloved while he remained collected as ever.

a wider smile tugged at his lips— a rare sight indeed. he shook his head before mumbling a small, “silly girl.”

I’ve been cooking an au that I doubt I’ll write but I certainly have been drawing.

I’ve been working on it for weeks now but finally have thought of how I want to start sharing it. For now, I can show the end results of hours and hours of messing with speculative biology and deciding the roles and plot.

The basic idea as far as this post will show is the iterators are bio mechanical creatures combining iterators and orca whales created by an aquatic race of ancients. Local groups act as pods but Suns was separated from his and joined Moon’s. I had tons of versions (mouth placement and where to start or end the whales and how iterator to make them verses how human or how whale) but I think I like where the concept ended up.

A deeper explanation is bellow but know that, beyond the speculative biology I had a lot of fun with, it does involve discussion of real world and in-universe animal cruelty. Specifically Orcas in captivity and how they have been shown to suffer- not for long or in much detail but certainly could be upsetting.

In one of my discussion based environmental science classes, the professor was having us discuss Orcas in captivity because she recently published a paper on it and, as is typical for me, I cope from how completly tragic and upsetting a topic is by relating them to my hyperfixation of the time.

Orcas in captivity are some of the only other animals known to self harm. They also notoriously harm eachother and their trainers. One of the main reasons they suffer so much is because they are so A)smart and B)social. The lack of stimulation and enrichment combined with being locked in a too small space, removed from their natural environments and purpose.

That connected to how I’ve always felt like that reasoning is part of why Pebbles does as mentally horrible as he does. He is a smart supercomputer trapped in a single place, the main consciousness stuck in a single room because the rest of the building is his body so he can’t simply leave it behind. He once had so many processes and tasks, taking care of the ancients and seeking the great solution- created late enough to have certainly been effected by his creators’ impatience. He’s also a rare case of not being fully in charge of himself and is limited on resources due to his location. His existence was also controversial. When the ancients left he was left with too much time and processing power and not enough to do with it. His self isolating habits certainly would not help. Even though they are stationary nobody can convince me iterators don’t couldn’t as social species when they were made to collaborate with each-other and their citizens.

He hurts others (especially moon) and himself because he feels frustrated and trapped. Orcas hurt themselves and others in captivity for similar reasons. Orca health deteriorates horribly in captivity, Pebbles is not physically or mentally healthy for any of the time we see him in canon. Pebbles is practically in captivity, he would do horrible in it. The dehumanization would also hit hard, he would have being treated like a simple animal- and Orcas being treated like simple animals when they are so smart and social is horrible. It just- it just clicked in my brain and now this au is clawing its way out of my head!

Thinking of those parallels lead to wanting to make an Au where Pebbles is an orca in captivity. I went back and forth on if the other iterators would take the place of humans or if they would be Orcas as well (and if they would also be in captivity) and the roles of the slugcat characters a lot. But I decided to have a modern/anthro au for Slugcats and scavengers on the surface and the iterators all remaining in the ocean until Pebbles is captured.

In future art I will go more into detail on the plot and other characters but that’s it for this one. Tho, feel free to send me asks about the AU! Since it’s not planned to be a fic I don’t have to be coy with plot points and don’t have a real way to share details outside of Tumblr :p

Too Damned Sweet | Canonverse Fluff Drabble

The sun was setting, bathing the sky in a gradient mix of orange and pink. You've had this view within the Walls, but seeing it on top of the sea made it feel different. You smelled the ocean water as a gentle breeze danced through your hair.

You've had a long day of exploring Liberio. This was your first time outside of the Walls and to say you were overwhelmed would be an understatement. There was a lot to the world that had just been kept from you for over a century.

You glanced over your shoulder as you heard footsteps approaching you. Looking up, you saw your fiancé approach, holding two ice cream cones.

"What's this?" you asked.

"The thing the brats were gushing over earlier," Levi mumbled as he passed you one before sitting down.

You grabbed the ice cream cone from him and looked at it, inspecting it from up close. You had seen how Sasha and Connie had reacted to it earlier in the day. You knew that it was supposed to be cold and sweet—and was considered quite the popular treat.

Enthusiastic, you immediately bit into it, feeling your teeth sink into the smooth, velvety center as a combination of sweetness and cold washed over your taste buds.

While the sweetness was welcome, the coldness was not.

You had bit into the ice cream a bit too fast, and the coldness made your teeth ache.

You grimaced subtly in pain, holding your hand over your mouth as you gently chewed, your jaw tensing up from having your teeth be assaulted by the icy treat.

"That bad?" Levi muttered as he watched you.

You shook your head, swallowing the last of what you had bit off.

"...didn't expect it to be that cold."

Levi tutted in disapproval.

"Were you not watching the brats earlier?"

He took a bite—and also grimaced.

"See?" you immediately pointed out. "You weren't expecting it to be that cold either."

"It's not that," he grumbled as he waved you off. "It's too damn sweet."

Despite the coldness and sweetness throwing the both of you off, you sat next to each other, eating your ice cream in silence.

Another thing you didn't expect was how quickly it would melt in your hand. You found yourself licking chocolate off your fingers.

Once you saw Levi looking at you, you immediately looked away in embarassment.

"...Sorry," you mumbled quietly.

Levi shuffled and leaned towards you.

"Always gotta make a mess, huh?" he gently commented as he reached out to your face. He placed his hand on your cheek, using his thumb to wipe off some of the chocolate that was stuck onto the corner of your lips.

His thumb lingered over your lips and you suddenly found yourself warming up, despite the fact that you had just consumed a dessert that was meant to cool you down. Your face heated up as you noticed his gaze on you.

His eyes softened as he gently planted his lips on yours, still holding the side of your face. His lips lingered on yours for a few seconds and for those few seconds, you forgot everything about why you were here or the war that was looming your heads.

All that mattered was being here with him, eating a stupidly cold and sweet ice cream cone.

Watching Across The Spider-Verse should be your Canon Event

I don't know how they did it, but Sony Animation outdid themselves with this sequel. The first spider verse movie was already a legendary cinematic experience and this takes things up to 11. The drama, action,  character dialogue, and animation are vastly improved to a degree nobody could've ever predicted.

It goes without saying that the animation is as breathtaking as ever. Every single scene is beautifully composed and has loads of details packed into them. Animators got to be even more experimental this time around to show off the various art styles from the different dimensions. Gwen’s dimension is done in a water-color style that shifts colors depending on the mood of the scene. During her emotional dialogue with her dad, the backgrounds become incredibly messy and abstract to reflect how they feel. My favorite style used comes from Hobie Brown who’s resembles punk collage art brought to life. He truly embodies the loud and chaotic energy of the punk movement.

The main source of conflict in the story is a lack of communication. Gwen has a strained relationship with her dad because he believes Spider woman (Gwen) killed Peter Parker and she desperately wants to reveal the truth to him. Exposing her identity only complicated her relationship even more and now she feels like she can't turn to him anymore. Miles is stuck in a similar conflict where his duties as Spiderman often keeps him from spending time with his parents and he can't explain to them what's wrong. He tries to come out with it, but hesitates every time. He worries that they'll never see him the same way if he drops the truth. Even though we don't have superpowers, most of us can relate to having to hide parts of our identity from others and live a double life. It's hard to be honest when revealing the truth can permanently alter your relationships. Family drama soon takes a backseat once the fate of the multiverse comes into play.

I love how the idea of the multiverse gets heavily expanded during the film. Every single incarnation of Spiderman exists, even his live-action counterparts can be seen. Decades of the spiderman legacy come together to form a superhero task force known as the Spider society. Led by the gruff and menacing Miguel O Hara, the spider society exists to handle anomalies in the multiverse. The most concerning anomaly at present? Our hero Miles and the villain he helped create, The Spot. Miles was never supposed to be Spiderman. He was bitten by a spider from another dimension due to the actions of an Alchemix researcher named Dr Johnathan Ohnn. When Miles destroyed the super collider, Johnathan was caught in the explosion and had his biology permanently rearranged. The funny thing is that Johnathan was that background character Miles threw a bagel at back in the first movie. Spot starts off as a simple goofy villain who barely even knows how to use his power. He does however quickly learn to be more creative with his abilities during his fight with Miles. His anger at Miles is also extremely visceral as even though Spot is to Blame for willingly working for a corrupt organization in the first blast, it's hard not to feel sorry for him after he loses everything in life and Miles offers him nothing but snarky banter. Hard to blame him for holding a grudge. After Spot finds out he can open portals to other universes, his revenge plan finally kicks off. He absorbs dark matter from each universe’s super collider and grows vastly stronger as a result. He's gonna make Miles suffer the same way he did. Seeing a silly villain of the week gradually grow into a revenged obsessed menace to the multiverse was the highlight of the story to me. It's always fun to see the underdog move up in life… even if he's trying to absolutely demolish our heroes.

Our other antagonist is Miguel, a fellow spiderman. He wants what's best for the world and that means preventing Miles from stopping his canon event, an event every spider man must go through or else their universe will disrupt. Miles’ dad is supposed to die at the hands of Spot. Miles wants to save his dad, but the rest of the spider society think otherwise. The worst part is that Gwen and Peter B Parker were aware of this and even begrudgingly believe that Miguel is right. Even then, it's still painfully obvious that they're emotionally conflicted and are going through internal turmoil over the whole thing. That doesn't change the fact that Miles feels betrayed by those he considered his closest friends. While the first spiderverse movie had its fair share of drama, it was ultimately an optimistic feel good movie that made the spidermen teaming up look like the coolest thing ever. Across the Spiderverse deconstructs itself by showing that discovering the multiverse was the worst event for everyone involved in hindsight. Friends have turned into enemies and Miles has the weight of the multiverse on his shoulders. Watching the plot unfold had me glued to my seat from start to finish. I think watching this masterpiece was my Canon event.

The anticipation for the final Spiderverse movie has the entire community restless with excitement. There's no telling how the creators will outdo themselves yet again, but I definitely want a front row seat to watch it happen.

* Try minimizing the dosage of paint Ink takes so that you can conserve it for as long as possible. * Uh- apparently your files tell me you have the ability to travel to different multiverses? In your original story you’re supposed to fuse with Ink and basically “become one.” Though we can try to avoid that by taking vials from other Inks so you can give them to your Ink, then if you’re able you can choose to jump ship with him.

* Of course you can try to cause some multiversal mayhem or something that draws the creators back from their hiding place. Inspiration is the main reason they do things, spark their creativity and you’ll have them flock to you.

* If Ink has any allies you can also ask them for assistance, typically he would form a team with Dream and Swap so maybe they could do something?

Tell me about this Fallout ARG you found I am curious. 👀👀👀

so its on a channel called drb0sch, and its about a SUPPOSEDLY alternate universe where Interplay and Black Isle Studios, the original companies behind the first two Fallout games, didn't sell the rights to Bethesda and got to make their own completely independent version of Fallout New Vegas, and possibly Fallout 3 as well.

in regular Fallout New Vegas, theres a location called the Mojave Outpost. its an area in the game that canonically holds the state line between California and Nevada via a gate that you cannot open or get through at all.

in the videos tho, drb0sch finds a way to parkour to the other side of the gate and explore the outer areas of the main game's entire map. it all goes downhill from there.

i'll place a read more here since this next part will be spoilers for both the ARG AND New Vegas, so if you wanna experience both on your own, you should!!! New Vegas is pretty much the last good Fallout game and the ARG is honestly best experienced on your own

ok so basically it almost instantly takes a dark turn for the worst. once drb0sch gets passed the gate and has explored some of the area, which at first seemed to only consist of some unfinished houses and power lines, he ends up finding odd pieces of loot that seem to relate to the war in 2077, when the bombs dropped. in one particular place, he picks up an item at a campfire that suddenly gives him a quest with a clearly unfinished title. he then goes back to the gate to try and get back into the main map, but the game literally does not let him. the invisible wall thats usually at the gate to prevent players from jumping over suddenly comes back, he cant use his pip-boy to fast travel, console commands dont work, and most people have assumed that the game will just freak out on him if he tries to go back on a save. so hes stuck on the outside of Nevada.

so in defeat that he cant go back, he decides to walk around the area more and see where the quest takes him, and at first it seems like a normal side-quest for world building about stuff that happened Pre-War and during the war, but then it just starts getting so weird. i dont know how else to say this in any other way, but the quest literally takes him to Hell. as in whatever version of Hell that Interplay/Black Isle could put into a Fallout game i guess. but its Hell none-the-less. theres several pieces of evidence scattered around as well, like Bible verses and even the channel name itself. Bosch is the last name of the painter Hieronymus Bosch who was famous for making those scary Hell paintings, the ones cluttered with different scenes of sinners getting tortured by ugly lil demons.

theres SO many other things in it that are really god damn weird and crazy. i have no idea where its going or what the point of it all is but its really interesting and i definitely think you should check it out.

Are the ArchieSonic comics actually an 80's/90's syndicated cartoon? Episode 64 - 65: Two Multi-part Finale (part 7: Sonic X #40)

Welcome back to my investigation of how Archie Comics’ Sonic the Hedgehog series was actually a syndicated cartoon from the 80’s and 90’s! 

Let me tell you - after six posts talking about the Endgame saga, the end of the Knuckles spinoff comics, and the death of the super special series, it’s a relief today to finally get to talk about something not written by Ken Penders. So you guys remember Sonic X, right? “Got ourselves a situation, stuck in a new location”?

It was a fun little anime based around the adventures of our favourite blue hedgehog, which suffered unspeakable atrocities at the hands of the localisation team at 4Kids Entertainment. The show was about the Sonic cast being sent to Earth in an accident and befriending poor little rich boy Chris Thorndyke. The show would feature them fighting Dr. Eggman in a robot of the week format, and in the second season ran arcs adapting Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. They also sort of did an adaptation of Sonic Battle. At the end of the second season Sonic and his friends returned to their own planet, and the third season kicked off with an older Chris Thorndyke travelling to Sonic’s world, regressing back to childhood, and joining his friends on a series of adventures in outer space fighting the dreaded Metarex. 

Debuting in September 2005 (around the same time the third season began airing in the US) was Sonic X the comic book, which was a companion book to the anime telling new stories with the same cast and setting. There were all sorts of wacky ideas they were able to do in the comic using the setting of the anime, such as Eggman selling Chao to everyone as pets that would turn vicious and attack, Sonic and friends being trapped in the Sonic 1 video game, Vector being briefly mutated into a kaiju, and Eggman becoming a mexican wrestler named El Gran Gordo!

The majority of this comic was set towards the end of season 2, before Sonic and friends returned to their own world. However the earlier issues played around earlier in the timeline, and we got to see things like Emerl being initially discovered and Eggman in jail following the Egg Moon incident.

Uniquely from the other finales I’m focusing on for this series, the end of the Sonic X comic was actually planned. The creative team wanted to end Sonic X before they risked jumping the shark, and launch a new spin-off - one not limited by the restrictions that the Sonic X setting and characters presented. They wanted this new spinoff to be set back in the main ArchieSonic canon, where they could have more space to explore other characters while Sonic’s adventures continued on in the main book. Essentially, it would be a return to the era of the comic when Sonic and Knuckles both had monthly comics coming out, only the new book, Sonic Universe, wouldn’t be limited to just Knuckles and his companion characters.

Arc #1 was focused on Shadow and the formation of Team Dark, then there was one about Mobius 30 Years Later, then one about Knuckles and the Chaotix, and so on. So when the time came for the Sonic X comic to end, Ian Flynn and the rest of the team did so by making it part of a crossover story that began in Sonic the Hedgehog #195 and 196, continued on into Sonic X #40, and was completed in the first issue of Sonic Universe.

The crossover began with Hedgehog Havoc, a meeting of hedgehogs that has never been matched before or since. Travelling to the Anti-verse, Sonic and Amy were on a mission to kick Scourge the Anti-Sonic out of Freedom HQ and send him back to his home dimension. While there, they’d also had an unfortunate encounter with Rosy the Rascal, the psychotic Anti-Amy. Next to show up was Shadow, who was now an Agent of GUN and had been helping Hope Kintobor test a device that was supposed to send him into the special zone to get a Chaos Emerald. Then Metal Sonic showed up. Having been rebuilt by Dr. Eggman, this newest model had been fitted with a special engine that allowed him to travel to alternate zones. Having not detected Sonic anywhere on Mobius, Metal Sonic travelled to Moebius to find him and join the fight. Finally Silver the Hedgehog made his first appearance, on a mission to kill the traitor that destroyed the Freedom Fighters. He was guided by Amy’s cousin, the archer Rob O’ the Hedge. And so…

Eventually Sonic had the bright idea of convincing everyone to turn on Scourge first, and then they could all sort out their other issues after taking care of the threat he presented. Unfortunately Scourge didn’t want to go quietly, and he used some hidden “Anarchy Beryl” to transform into Super Scourge.

Welp, that escalated quickly. Rationalising that he had no chance against Super Scourge, Metal Sonic returned to his initial directive of trying to murderise Sonic instead.

Shadow stepped in to help, using Metal Sonic’s interdimensional engine with his own Chaos Control to warp them both out of there. So that was one less threat for Sonic to have to deal with. And that’s where the beginning of Sonic X #40 comes in.

Now this next part is interesting to me. When Shadow and Metal Sonic crashed Cream’s tea party, there was a Sonic right there, ripe for the murdering. And that was Metal’s objective, right? To disembowel Sonic and leave a trail of squishy hedgehog organs scattered across the landscape? But no, apparently not:

I guess the implication here is that Metal Sonic changed directives because he was now in an unknown dimension, as opposed to when he landed in the Antiverse. It raises the question of just how much Eggman knows about Scourge’s home planet, but considering that prior to his initial takeover of Mobius he travelled to Anti-Mobius to recruit Evil Sonic to locate the Giant Borg pieces scattered across the multiverse, it’s reasonable to assume that Eggman has documented it. Certainly if not then, then he might have been motivated to further research the Antiverse after Scourge invaded Freedom HQ and warned Eggman he’d also be conquering Eggman’s territories in due time.

So after bonding over having arrived here from other planets (I love the look on Shadow’s face when Sonic told him he was dead xD), Sonic gave Shadow a tour of Station Square.

Yeah, that kind of thing happens in Sonic X. Just smile and nod. The next stop on their little tour was Chris Thorndyke’s school, as Sonic wanted to give Chris a treat. Unfortunately he didn’t really prepare Shadow for this moment.

Meanwhile, Metal Sonic managed to locate the local Eggman’s base and came knocking at his front door. Bokkun, Bocoe and Decoe were all terrified of their visitor, but Eggman was giddy to be presented with a robotic version of his greatest enemy that he could boss around.

Shadow got to meet Sam Speed next, and ask him the question that I think all of us had been asking since the first episode of Sonic X:

I dunno, it still seems like overkill to me. Let’s just hope that police forces here in the real world don't start doing this too.

While Sam and the hedgehogs were catching up, they were unaware that the shadowy organisation S.O.N.I.C.X. (the same one that had turned Vector into a kaiju) were spying on them. 

Well that was a lucky break for the good guys.

Sonic and Shadow then went down to the beach and this is where Eggman caught up with them. He ordered Metal Sonic to attack, but it was a very brief battle.

In a panic Eggman raced back to his tower to check if he still had Shadow contained, puzzling over what he’d just seen when he found him right where he was supposed to be.

Sonic went back to Chris’ house and reconnected with all his friends, with Rouge and Chris both disappointed to find that Shadow had left.

And that’s where Sonic X, the comic, ended, with Sonic and friends anticipating their next adventure. 

As for Shadow and Metal Sonic, their story continued in issue #1 of Sonic Universe. Shadow found himself teleported to the Sol Dimension via Chaos Control, and teamed up with Blaze and Marine to take down Metal Sonic once and for all*.

*..well, sort of.

But that’s another story. As for this one, it’s fine. Certainly not the greatest thing Ian Flynn has ever written, but it’s a hell of a lot more enjoyable than any of the Ken Penders stories I wrote about recently. It’s got a few funny moments, and the stuff with Chris is genuinely touching, which isn’t easy to pull off with a character that the majority of the fanbase loathes. I never really got into the Sonic X comics, unfortunately. I think I read the first 15 issues before I got bored and stopped buying them. Which is a shame, because I’ve gone back to look at the other issues more recently and there were some fun stories in there, especially the ones about El Gran Gordo.

But this one feels like a nice way to end the series (in comic form, at least - the anime has a whole season left chronologically after this issue) as well as being the springboard to the new Sonic Universe series. Man, I miss Sonic Universe. I really hope we can get an equivalent side series to the IDW Sonic comics one day.

Speaking of the next adventure, next time I’ll be returning to the main Sonic comics as I look at a much darker time in the history of the series - the death of pre-boot ArchieSonic. I’ll be covering Sonic the Hedgehog #247 and Sonic Universe #50, but at this stage I’m not sure whether that will be one post or two. I’ll see how I go. See you then!
