All-Black is a Necrosword first forged by Knull, using his firstborn symbiote. Later, the sword was wielded by Gorr who used it to slay gods. It is now possessed by Dylan Brock, who uses it to sever symbiotes from the Hive Mind. All-Black grants its wielder superhuman abilities, such as extreme strength, durability, speed, and reflexes. It can also shapeshift and manipulate dark energy.

I think it's kinda interesting that Shinichiro always calls Mikey "Manjiro". It's not like Mikey seems to mind that, anyway. I have some thoughts on it but they aren't very organized...

Everybody else, including Takeomi (Shin's close friend, has known Mikey before he started using another name), calls him "Mikey" in daily life. I wonder what grandpa Sano uses, though.

I'm pretty sure Shinichiro keeps using 'Manjiro' because Mikey, as well as his official name, is what he has left of his 'normal' life - what he has left of when their parents were still there. In the same way, their mother probably never used 'Mikey' (but she isn't as affected, since she's got only Emma to call Mikey like that).

I think grandpa Sano continues to use 'Manjiro' too, if only because Mikey was named after him ('Mansaku' - same first kanji (万)). If Mikey had demanded of them to use 'Mikey', perhaps they'd have, but I just think they're too attached to the name - the same way Emma is attached to 'Mikey'. There's a reason.

As for everyone else using it as well, for Baji and the Akashi I think it was Mikey pushing them to use it + kids finding foreigner names and aliases to be cool, and Emma using it too. At some point since they got used to hear it, they got used to use it. And for the ones Mikey met later on (starting Draken), he had been introducing himself as 'Mikey' for quite a while - to the point highschoolers call him like that. That's just how he introduces himself, the name he goes by on a regular basis.

For Takeomi, although he's known Mikey since he was a baby, he's still not as close to him as Shinichiro is - he's a family friend but not as close as family, albeit Akashi and Sano are very close (or were at this point in time anyway). And same things as his siblings or Baji, he probably heard it so often his brain started using 'Mikey' automatically. I do think he can still use 'Manjiro' at times, but for him there's no real difference between using one or the other.

crossover concept: superman with the venom symbiote.

honestly superman is so OP that having the symbiote might slow him down, since it's feeding off him, right? and he doesnt need the enhanced senses or responses. but at the same time, he doesnt exactly have "super healing" so much as general immunity to stuff, but he does heal a bit faster than normal humans-- perhaps fast enough to supply the brain enzyme venom needs without needing to eat people. maybe it still hurts him, makes him slower and dizzier because his brain's being munched on and he isnt healing fast enough, or maybe it can be offset with enough chocolate.... and assuming you could work out that kink since superman would Not eat people, it would be a superman who trully cannot go down. even in a red sun room, or surrounded by kryptonite, no matter how much he withers he's got venom in his back pocket ready to heal him from any injury. he cant be hurt, but even when he is hurt it's never a death sentence. venom's safe from fire because it can just retreat into superman's body and be totally protected. his physical abilities are pushed even further. it might be like some of the best symbiosis a symbiote could dream of tbh

and personality-wise, like, there's plenty of continuities where venom wants to be a hero, and superman's about the most heroic hero you could latch onto. venom's a lonely alien that can never go home, superman's a lonely alien that could never go home. supes longs for HUMAN companionship, but venom would give him a link to the stars, constant companionship with no need to hide or keep secrets. and i think he'd feel bad for venom, so many harsh memories of "home", trying so hard to be better than what it was born of.

Round 2, Match 14: Mayalaran vs. All-Black

Mayalaran is a Shardblade; a type of blade that can be magically summoned or dismissed and can cut through any physical object. She is wielded by Adolin Kholin, who nicknamed her Maya. Prior to learning her name, he refused to give her a name of his choosing, musing that that would be rude. Adolin often speaks to her even though she does not respond. Much of the lore surrounding Mayalaran gets into spoiler territory, so I will place more details under the cut if you are interested in learning more and don’t think you will read the books!

It can also shapeshift and manipulate dark energy.

Mayalaran is a true spren, meaning that she had sentience in the cognitive realm (realm of the mind) and appeared as a humanoid (as opposed to lesser spren, which appear as animal- or spirit-like creatures in the cognitive realm and do not have sapience). However, she has been killed and now manifests as a deadeye, giving her once lively grassy hair a brown, wilting look and rendering her eyes black and scratched out. She was once bonded to a Radiant Knight through a Nahel bond (formed by stating Oaths), but when the Radiant she was bonded to broke their Oaths, she was killed and turned into a deadeye. Because of this, she cannot speak and only screeches, and wanders in the cognitive realm following her corpse (the sword, her physical form). Living Shardblades are able to communicate with the person they are bonded to, and are able to shape and manipulate their physical form. They can also be summoned instantaneously. However, as a deadeye, Maya’s form is static and cannot change, and she requires ten heartbeats to be summoned.

Most likely due to the unique way that Adolin interacts with Maya, she has been partially revived and is capable of greater sapience than before. She told Adolin her name, and has spoken on at least one other occasion. Once she moved to protect Adolin from attack by a Fused (in simple terms, an hostile entity) of her own volition, something deadeyes are not known to do. Once, she was summoned in only seven heartbeats instead of ten. After being partially revived, she is able to speak and converse, although her speech is slow or off. It is possible that she may be revived further as the series continues!

i also have a thought cooking about how tpp explores disability and the juxtaposition of that with the consistent horror elements wherever theres a hospital (see the prologue, the paz hallucinations, the parasite hospital, the quarantine zombie mission, etc).

also the way venom snakes shrapnel forehead penis on a couple occasions gets an angst erection to represent his feelings of failure/helplessness and corruption and how that ties into the whole thing. there's a lot going on here

Walburga ignored him, she nodded towards the floor where a large bag was waiting near Sirius’s feet "Maybe it is better if you just disappear"

Sirius tried to find some sort of remorse in his mother's eyes. Some sort of proof that what she saying was hurting her, or realizing that she was hurting him. A little tiny trace of love or affection towards him.

But there was nothing. Walburga's eyes, the shame shade of gray, just like his, didn't show any emotion. They were empty. Her expression was determined.

Whoever said mothers had infinite love for their children, that they would never stop loving them no matter what, was a bloody liar.

Sirius realized then that his own mother didn't love him. Not even a tiny bit. He might've expect it from Orion. Or his Uncle Cygnus. Or even his Grandfather.

But a mother is supposed to love you no matter what, right? Maybe not.

"I really hate you, Walburga" Sirius’s voice shook and his eyes filled with tears. But not sad tears. Tears of pure fury. "I really wish you weren't my mother"

"Oh darling, but I am" she chanted in a mocking way.

How could she stay firm? Didn't she have feelings?

"Unfortunately" she added.

"Yeah, unfortunately!" Sirius leaned to say very clearly "Go fuck yourself, mother!"

Sirius grabbed the bag he had prepared from the floor. He might've had bruises and cuts across his face. But nothing hurt like his heart. Nothing hurt like this.

If his own fucking mother didn't love him? Who would? Who?

"It's better if you don't come near this house for a while" Walburga talked as Sirius walked to the door "And I won't let you ruin your brother's life as well".

Sirius stopped on his tracks. Reggie.

"I would make sure you stay away from him, if I have any power on it. You're a bad influence for him and his mental health"

Sirius turned and looked up. Regulus was looking from the top of the stairs. Tears on his eyes. Hands into a tight fist. He froze when Sirius noticed him. But he didn't do anything. He paced back even. Afraid. Like a coward.

If Regulus was a depressive wanker that wanted to stay in this hell hole, Sirius couldn't do anything about it.

Sirius shouldn't feel guilty about leaving.

Regulus was a traitor. Running to his mummy with the gossip about Remus. A filthy little traitor.

"Don't worry about it" Sirius spat "He's not my brother anymore"

With the determination he had left, Sirius walked out of Grimmauld Place. And he hoped it would be forever.

I feel the need to stress that I’m not still losing my mind over my lil kpop boy wearing a Mayhem patch in the year of our lord 2022 for gatekeepy reasons. As a general rule, I automatically assume that if someone is wearing merch then they have engaged with the media that merch is from in some way. And even if they haven’t and they’re only wearing it for the aesthetic, that’s cool too I don’t give a shit. If it had just been the Beherit patch I would’ve probably been a little floored and screamed about it some, then probably woulda thought y’know it’s possible he actually listens to them and moved on with my life. But Mayhem???

There is no fucking way anyone involved in that outfit choice had any idea what that patch was because, if they did, they would not have put it on him and he wouldn’t have worn it. Like�� Mayhem is probably one of the most infamous black metal bands in history, but you’ve probably never heard of them unless you’re into metal or were alive and cognizant in the early 90s. In saying that, I think everyone’s heard of Those Norwegian Black Metal Bands That Burned Churches. Yeah… one of those was Mayhem. There’s also, y’know, murder and shit involved in that story, and like suicide that was probably coerced so… yeah no idk just a hunch but I don’t think anyone knew what the fuck they were doing in that shoot and I don’t think I’m ever gonna stop thinking about it
