Okay so in my mind Kokichi gives me a lot of vegetarian vibes. He doesn't mind not meat animal products, but he just doesnt like the idea of killing animals. It makes him feel weird and he has a LOT of thoughts about like commercial farming. So whenever possible he tries to avoid meat. However, as he's also a street kid with DICE that's not always possible and he's not stubborn enough to starve over a moral point, food is food when you don't have a plethora of options.

Which as a result of seeing him as very much the kind of person who grew up in like, a fishing area, boardwalk kid, meant there was a lot of fish. As such, when he did have to eat meat, it was often cheap fish or easily stolen fish. So he tolerated it when it came up even if he was likely to push it onto a different dice member if possible.

This only amplified when the tragedy happened and he couldn't afford to be picky, and ESPECIALLY not force DICE to be picky. Which resulted in a lot more fish being eaten and him and DICE even learning how to catch fish in the polluted waters of the ocean. He's since grown used to eating fish, since the fact that during the tragedy once the reserves ran out and they had to actively start doing things like fishing he knew exactly how the fish was caught and handled and thus how humanely it was killed.

This means he no longer has much of an objection for eating fish anymore as long as its a fish DICE or him caught and he's long gotten used to the taste, even if it's still not the main thing he eats. He still avoids other meats if possible, especially with how scarce animals in the tragedy can be making it much more effective to use them for milk or eggs or other more renewable features instead of one time of meat.

As such, I see Kokichi and overall his group as ideally pescatarian when they can afford to be
