It has a nutty taste and is great for oatmeal or as the liquid base for a smoothie. ⁠ ⁠ 👉🏾 Pea milk - a recent addition and discovery in the family of plant-based milks, pea milk is high in protein and don’t worry it doesn’t taste like peas! With nearly 3g of protein per 100ml it’s great for bumping up the protein in your morning latte or in your post-workout smoothies.⁠ ⁠ 👉🏾 Oat milk – usually it has a thin consistency and is higher in fibre than other plant milks, High in carbohydrates and natural sugar (even the unsweetened version). Reposted from @dr.vegan (@get_regrann) - Omega-3 fatty acids are important fats that provide many health benefits.⁣ ⁣ Studies have found that they may reduce inflammation, decrease blood triglycerides and even reduce the risk of dementia.⁣ ⁣ Of the three main types of omega-3 fatty acids, plant foods typically only contain alpha-linolenic acid (ALA).⁣ ⁣ ALA is not as active in the body and must be converted to two other forms of omega-3 fatty acids — eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) — to bestow the same health benefits.⁣ ⁣ Unfortunately, your body’s ability to convert ALA is limited. This holds true for salads too. You want to build a well-balanced bowl, so that you end up with something filling and delicious while getting a variety of nutrients. And let's face it, people need to eat more salads. Not as a side, as the main dish! ➡️STEP 0 Get a HUGE bowl! If you don't have a salad bowl, use a mixing bowl. Don't use a little soup bowl. It will not be enough and you will get hungry and probably hangry. I know from experience. ➡️STEP 1 Load it up with those leafy greens. Try to get 2-3 cups worth in there. ➡️STEP 2 Non-starchy vegetables are next. Try to get 1/2 to 1 cup worth of these. ➡️STEP 3 Time for the starchy veg and the high protein sources. These are the powerhouses of the salad. They not only are going to be a main source of the calories (aka energy) but also add a whole other layer of flavor to the salad. Add 1/2 to 1 cup. ➡️STEP 4 The tastiest step. The fats that seal the deal. Fats aid in the absorption of nutrients but they are also calorie dense (9 Cal per gram) so you don't want to over do it. Fats can be in the form of a dressing like tahini, or simply nuts and seeds sprinkled on top for some added crunch. Try not to use more than a couple Tbsp in dressing form, and no more than 1/4-1/3 cup of nuts and seeds.
