Check out the recipe of black bean taco
Vegan black bean tacos have become a popular dish in recent years, offering a delicious and nutritious alternative to traditional meat-filled tacos. While the exact origin of vegan black bean tacos is difficult to trace, we can look at the history of black beans and tacos to understand how they came together. Black beans have a rich history in Latin American cuisine, particularly in countries…

Not sure how low spoons this is, but I would push all the meat to one side, then put a folded-up paper towel in the opposite side and tip to let the grease flow into it. Then pull out the paper towel with a fork or tongs. Repeat as needed.
Taco Soup
I’m probably gonna put this around a 2 out of 5 for spoons because you have to brown meat and drain cans for this recipe, but otherwise, it’s very easy! Maybe needs another spoon for putting up leftovers (because this makes a decent amount of leftovers)
Equipment:
Dutch oven (but a large pot works just fine - that’s what I use)
Something that stirs well
Optional colander for draining meat
Ingredients:
2 lbs ground meat (whatever lean/fat ratio you want)
1 pack of taco seasoning
1 pack of ranch seasoning
1 15.25oz can of corn, drained
1 15oz can mild chili beans
1 15oz can pinto beans, drained
1 14.5oz can stewed tomatoes
1 10oz can diced tomatoes with green chilis
1 4oz can chopped green chilis (optional, if you want more spice)
Directions:
In a dutch oven/large pot over medium heat, cook the ground meat until no longer pink, breaking into crumbles as it cooks; drain.
Add taco seasoning packet and mix.
Add everything else.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cook uncovered for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Additional notes:
This is a customizable recipe. For example, I leave out the beans because I don’t like their texture. Still very tasty! I imagine you could probably add extra things into the soup and have it turn out well.
Good for leftover chips that you don’t want to go stale, but it’s also perfectly good on its own.
It’s fine to reheat this in the microwave instead of putting it back on the stove - heat to your liking. Usually anywhere from 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes works well for me.

Cooking with Patches motivates me to cook more than anything 🥺
Also, your goated cooking posts has gotten me to do a couple of meatless meal days (Pan-fried tofu battered in cornstarch is life changing!) Any go-to recipes you find yourself cooking alot?
Ah hell yeah!!!
I'm glad to hear it bc I like making the Cooking with Patches posts. She's just HERE and being CUTE and I like sharing this fact with other people.
As far as go-to recipes - "pan fried tofu" DOES actually capture a lot... Like, choose *some* sauce, make rice, make some broccoli, put scallions and sesame seeds on top, and that's like a dozen variations of the same general idea. I tend to just keep scallions and tofu around, so I can kinda just do this whenever and mix up some sauce.
My probably most go-to of the above is this (copied from my notes):
sauce: 3tbsp soy sauce 3tbsp water 1 tsp sugar 1 tbsp sesame oil 1 tsp gochujang Garlic Scallions recipe: Cook tofu cut into slabs, turn over and spoon sauce, turn over and spoon sauce, cook however long you want after
My other "I didn't plan anything and I'm making dinner" approach is to keep fixings around to make ramen Better:tm:. Like I always have some ramen on hand. so I COULD just make ramen but if I have any of these on hand they make the ramen Better:tm:
Ramen add-ins:
kale, spinach, or any other leafy green, (added to the boiling water alongside the ramen noodles)
bok choy, same as above.
(if not vegan) an egg cracked in, added with 1 minute left of the noodles cooking
ANY kind of mushroom, sliced, but shiitake and wood-ear are extra recommended
(if like spicy) any chili pepper, sliced and added with the noodles
silken tofu (like what goes in miso soup)
sriracha (added on top at the end)
sliced scallions, sesame seeds, sesame oil/chili oil (added on top at the end)
And then some actual like, recipe-recipes, I went through things I'd bookmarked as liking
(sub tofu for the fish in this one) =>

꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦
Summary: A blurb where you cook Steven some traditional hispanic food because he's curious about how it tastes.
Warnings: No actual warnings that I actually know of. Reader is meant to be read as hispanic or be of some hispanic/latin background. Steven centric but Marc and Jake are also mentioned.
Author’s Snip: Listen I just wanted to make something kinda cute and wholesome that also involves a bit of some culture that I have from my hispanic/Mexican heritage, I also just wanted to fully embrace latino Jake because I just wanted to.
Notes: I'm not translating the dishes just look it up if you don't know what they are. Also this wasn't proof read before posting
I’ll shut up now. Enjoy! And don’t be afraid to request.
꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦
One of Steven's, and the rest of the system's, favorite things after a long day of working is coming home to your cooking. You taken on the role of being the one to make dinner after you saw that the boys could barely scrape together good food for themselves thanks to their short free time and deemed their boy dinners unacceptable.
You had a knack for making their favorite foods and keeping track of their varying palates and preferences. Of course there was Steven being vegan, but the other two had their own preferences. Marc didn't really have much of any preferences but you did find that he was a big fan of the french onion soup recipe that you make.
Jake wasn't all that picky either since he hardly came out and would just eat left overs. But after a while you found that he loves himself some hispanic foods, and by god were you happy to accommodate. When he came back from missions he would usually crash on the bed and let the others wake up in the body afterwards, but you would somehow figure out that he's the one fronting and make him some traditional dishes which he couldn't help but stay just to eat it.
You made him all kinds of dishes. Tamales. Pollo y arroz con mole. Chilaquiles. Ceviche con tostadas.
You did feel a bit bad since you knew Steven didn't like meat. But Jake would beg you to make the dishes how they're usually made, which commonly involves meats, and Steven never held it against you if you did feed Jake using the traditional recipes.
Though Steven did mention that he always wondered what they tasted like. Just he's had a vegan taco but at this point everyone in the world's had a taco and the like. He wants to try the food that actually comes from and is made with their original recipes. But he knew that hispanic food often had meat in it and he didn't want you to have to go through the trouble of making a new recipe just because of him.
But when Steven set aside his bag, took off his coat, and sat down at the table he found what looked like food that was intended for Jake. It was what he learned was called ceviche and tostadas, which often contained shrimp. He opened his mouth to speak but you beat him to it.
"Don't worry. It's completely vegan." you smile. "Love," he mutters, "Thank you. But you really didn't have to go through all this trouble just to make me something tha-" he continues, but you stop him again.
"It wasn't that troublesome. It's the same process. I just changed the shrimp out for something else." you explain. "But," you add, raising your finger. "That's the only thing I changed about it. Everything else is authentic to the original, like you said whenever you mentioned you wanted to try some food, so I held back no spices." you warn.
Steven smiles and nods as you go and grab some drinks before sitting in your chair. "Thank you then." he chirps. "I know that it shouldn't be that spicy. At least by Jake's standards since he douses his in hot sauce." Steven comments. You giggle, "I always tell him that if he wants something spicy then I can just make him aguachile." you remark.
As it turns out Steven held up just fine and even said that he enjoyed how much flavor the dish had to it with an added"I understand why Jake likes it so much.".

Hi Marte! This is apropos of nothing but I’ve been depressed for awhile and I’ve been pulling myself out of it for a few months and I finally have started to feel like myself again (yay!). One thing I really struggled with was finding the mental energy to cook, among other things, which is something I’ve always enjoyed. I’m trying to make a list of recipes to try to make cooking fun again and I thought maybe I’d make some things that Harry has mentioned enjoying just as a fun little motivation. Do you know any foods he has talked about enjoying? I haven’t come up with too many but I think it would be really fun to recreate some of them. Also if you have any recipes you personally like I would love to hear about them! Trying to rally myself here and I am taking suggestions from anyone who has them!!! 💗🩵
Hi, anon!
First of all, i'm so happy to hear you've managed to pull yourself out of your depression. That's so great to hear, i'm so proud of you! 💛
I'm racking my brain to try to think of things that H has mentioned in interviews over the years. It's mostly food items he loves or hates, no so much dishes he's talked about. We know he of course loves Louis' chicken wrapped in parma ham with a side of homemade mash (doing the hand movements while i type lol). He's also said he loves a Sunday roast, Taco/Fajitas and is partial to soup. We know he loves bananas, peas, brussel sprouts, mango, sweetcorn, mandarine segments, coconut shavings (or is that Louis 😉), and we also know both H and L love sea food! I think there's a lot of sea food being served in the Tomlinson-Styles household.
See, the thing is, i'm a good cook, i'm a creative cook, but i hate cooking. I prefer the food i make myself to anyone elses cooking lol. So that's a massive issue. I cook a lot with my brother when we're doing elaborate dinners, since he likes to cook. I've perfected a lasagna recipe, a couple of soup recipes, a couple of pasta dishes and some wok recipes, that i make when i have company over. I'm really good at taking what i have on hand and making something out of it. When i create something ingenious, i always write the recipe down in a google doc.
I've found that it's almost impossible to share recipes, because people like different things. Some like things salty, spicy, savory, sweet, bitter, well cooked, hardly cooked, their gravy thick or more runny etc. Some have allergies and intolerances. So you need to explore what you like and make it to your taste.
Anyway, one recipe that never fails me is vegetable soup. It's healthy, hearty and warms in winter. It's also cheap! I make it when i have low energy, when i am in need of vitamins or when i have a cold. You can put any vegetable you like in it (depending on what you have on hand), any spices you want in it, you can make it vegan/gluten free, if you want to, it's easy to not make too little or too much of it and you decide how much of each thing you put in it, depending on your preferences. You can bascially change up every ingredient without messing up.
Here is my recipe (based on one of my uni room-mates recipes, a dish that we used to make together as poor uni students):
This serves about four people i'd say.
Ingredients:
1-1,5 litres of water
3-4 chicken stock cubes
1 yellow onion
2 potatoes, regular sized
1-2 carrots
A couple of slices of swede/rutabaga
1/2 of a red bell pepper
2 tomatoes
1/2 of a leek
Fussili pasta
Garlic powder
Cayenne pepper
Herbes de Provance
How to make it:
Find a pot that fits about 5 litres. Put the water and the stock cubes in and boil it. Peel potatoes, carrots, swede/rutabega, and onion. Dice it up into decent siced pieces (or to your preference). The potatoes doesn’t need to be cut that small. Put all your vegetables in the pot to boil for about 5-7 minutes.
Meanwhile, you chop the leek and bell pepper, after the 5-7 minutes are up you put that in, and also add pasta (a handful or two, or to your preference). Then add the spices. Be careful when adding the cayenne pepper, the soup isn't supposed to taste hot/spicy (we all have different tolerance level for spice).
Let it all boil for 10-12 minutes more or until the pasta is ready and the vegetables are soft. Meanwhile chop the tomatoes, add the tomatoes when the soup is finished, they're not supposed to boil, just warm up.
Bon Appétit!

was there a favorite food you ate on your vacation? :0c
Trite-but-true answer: Literally Everything I got to cook with my wife / for my wife. (It was also very gratifying to have friends of hers say my cooking was delicious!)
Cute answer: She made me a black forest cake because I said I couldn't remember if I'd ever had one before. It was a damn fine cake.
Miscellaneous answers that I couldn't think of funny categories for: There was a local pizza place that did a pretty good vegan chorizo & it made me realize vegan chorizo can be good. The pizza itself was also just real good in general. I also got chorizo tacos from a food truck near LAX at like 8 at night and they were fucking divine. An older fella none of us knew heard us talking about the sauces & was nice enough to tell us what each of 'em were. Also also we went to a local ramen place & our server thought we were a cute couple so they gave us free cheesecake. (The soup itself was also very good.) I keep thinking about little moments like that.
There's more, but I'd be rattling off an entire month's worth of food, & I would like to go to bed soon. The world is full of a lot of small beauties & I'm glad we get to share some of that with others through food.

what does a typical day of eating look like for you?
uhhhhh lemme think, right now i eat a lot of tofu scrambles, tofu soups, and tofu stir frys with grains like quinoa or brown rice. always swapping out the bases sauces and vegetables/fungi depending on what i feel like. i use coconut milk a lot for the fat. i eat a lot of loaded oatmeal with fruits and nuts and seeds and whatever i have on hand. i snack on macadamia nuts through the day because they are super super fatty (21g fat per tablespoon or so) to help me with my condition that makes it hard to gain and keep weight. durian is also good for that, very fatty and its actually really good in smoothies. i make tacos with some kinda plant based protein and beans a lot. i eat some fortified foods like cereals and baked goods here and there for the b12 and other stuff, i drink huel (nutritionally complete meal shake) sometimes, i used to live on it entirely because my condition randomly makes eating very difficult and painful, highly recommend it.
im very much a minimalist and anticonsumer but i take nutrition very seriously. i like knowing the nutrition content of foods and knowing exactly how to keep my body running optimally in the least impactful way possible. i like knowing how to calm people down about vegan health panic. a lot of people get really scared and confused the minute anything in their body feels off and they will immediately blame veganism and panic about every micronutrient known to man because this society is deeply affected by propaganda and religious about meat. i like undoing that.

Alright so my bf been sick so I walked to get him a sprite and Popeyes. Also got myself two vegan protein cookies, double chocolate and chocolate chip. For breakfast I had two protein bars and an unripe banana. For dinner I'ma have vegan ravioli! The sun is warm I'm wearing my tank top and Halloween leggings. Took a shower with my new seaweed Zen body wash. Loves it. I have hypothyroid so iodine from seaweed supposed to help thyroid. Hopefully it gets absorbed thru my skin? Lol. Just being in the warm sunny light infuses me with optimism. I'm so happy a lady called me skinny! Wow. I did it. Now jus need to keep going with my protein bars, bananas, and vegan tv dinners. But what if I keep losing weight? That's not what I truly want. But I've adapted to protein bars, bananas, and vegan tv dinners. I guess I can start eating broccoli and sweet potato again. Perhaps even oatmeal tho it's trouble for my bowels. Ugh but I love oatmeal so much. One thing I desire but want to refrain from is chips w cheese n sour cream. That got me up to 155 pounds. Which is overweight for my height. Oh and I must refrain from Taco Bell. It will all be okay. I can make tomato soup more. And vegan chili! Love y'all. Be good to yourselves.
(ok just ate Popeyes Mac n cheese oops)
