It's interesting to me to see how many people choose the Calm option in Harding's quest. After the talk with Lucanis (which I *love*!) where he points out that she defaults to people pleasing as a defense mechanism, it felt disrespectful for me to choose anything besides "honor your anger."

Because it's a book about a man who doesn't know he's about to die and then dies. But if the man does know he's going to die and dies anyway, dies willingly, knowing he could stop it, then... I mean, isn't that the type of man you want to keep alive?

I can be convinced to play any old, mediocre, unfinished, obscure, low-poly, barely rerembered game on the planet if it has free flight mechanics.
This post was sponsored by Divinity II Ego Draconis and Faery - Legends of Avalon.
#okay to be fair I played ego draconis because I was going through the whole divinity series#but the flight was my favorite part#divinity 2#ego draconis#dragon knight saga#faery legends of avalon

Draxie
Image © Paizo Publishing, accessed at Archives of Nethys here
[The last of the variant sprite lineages from PF 2e's Bestiary 3, and I think the cutest. A little redundant, with faerie dragons (or fey dragonets, I guess) already existing, but when has redundancy ever gotten in the way of monster designers?]
Draxie CR 3 CG Fey This little humanoid is barely a foot tall, with a scaly hide, a long tail and membranous wings. They have small sharp teeth and horns and frills of skin instead of hair.
Draxies, or dragon sprites, are playful, flighty and keen pranksters. They often engage in escalating prank wars with pixies and fairie dragons, both of whom they get along well with. Draxies can be patient when planning some manner of joke or trick, and may spend months or even years for the payoff for a perfect joke. Draxies claim to have their origins in the powerful faerie dragon Elucredrassa, who upon her death reincarnated into a hundred draxies, who spread throughout the First World and then to the Material Plane. Draxies still honor her with the elucera, a soul-bond a draxie might make with a creature or creatures they are particularly fond of. Entering an elucera with a draxie makes one that draxie’s family as much as any blood relative; draxies take their obligations to elucera-mates more seriously than anything else.
Draxies rarely start fights, but are happy to finish them. A draxie is much more skilled at annoying an enemy into fleeing or parleying then they are with direct violence; their first order of business when attacked is usually to breathe draxie dust on an opponent. Unlike the breath of a faerie dragon, which induces a sort of stoned euphoria, draxie breath can cause this along with several other mind-influencing abilities. Even a draxie doesn’t know what its breath will do at any given moment, and they have great fun adapting to the situation as it elapses. If a draxie wants to do permanent harm, it usually relies on its mind thrust spell-like ability.
Draxies come in a wide variety of colors, and most of them have multicolored fringes running along their heads in place of hair, along their backs and on the tips of their tails. Their nails are usually worn long but are too fragile to be used as claws. Their jaws, however, are remarkably powerful for their size. Draxies are omnivorous with a taste for fruit and insects.

A draxie can use this ability once every 1d6 rounds, but a creature cannot be suffering from more than one draxie dust effect at a time. Natural Guise (Ex) When a draxie uses disguise self, it can appear as any Tiny creature with the fey or animal types. Had a weird dream with Malleus being grumpy because the Senate were making a fuss about him wanting to marry me. He was clearly angry but didn't wanted to blow up when I was seeing. I found it cute, him and his grumpy face, so I just laughted to calm him down.
"Yeah, we know they are old fashioned faeries. Don't take what they are saying to heart, like Lilia told us."
And he mumbled with his grumpy voice "But they insulted you" And I patted his head (how the hell did I do that, I don't know- Seems like my dream logic didn't included the height differences 😂)
"And what are going to do ? Kidnapping me and taking me to a cave full of treasure like in the old dragon tale ?"
Well. I joked. But he looked down and took his refleting expression before smirking.
Next thing I remember before waking up was helding with all my strength the back of a black and purple dragon in flight.
Hope Lilia, Sebek and Silver will still be there the wedding though 😂
- 🦋 Anon
Hello 🦋 Anonie🌷🌻🌺
This is an adorable dream and I would love to have one like it. Brain, please, give me something cute like this 🙏💚
I love human x fae stories, and with the addition of pissing off the senate? I love them even more.
Malleus bent down so you could pat him, or even better, he was on your lap. ☺️💞💞
But Ah ah ah 🦋 Anonie, this is Malleus Draconia you are talking about.
Born from Meleanor Draconia, who didn’t let anyone choose her fiancé and rebelled against it. Who literally chose Levan and drove other suitors aways.
Hatched and raised by Lilia Vanrouge, the one who loves and taught Malleus valuable lessons. The one who knows all kinds of tricks and strategies and surprises.
This Malleus Draconia will go high above and beyond to get his way, after all, he put a whole island to sleep didn’t he?
Do you think he wouldn’t do just this? Do his version of a Vegas wedding I believe it’s called?
What was that saying? The villain would let the world burn for his loved ones, and this is exactly that.
(Book 7, literally, Book 7)

I was thinking of subscribing to ad-free Tumblr, but this makes me not want to. I wanted the old Twitter to succeed, but Elon and Twitter Blue have turned it into a complete dumpster fire (as opposed to a useful, functioning site with many dumpster fires to navigate).
I don't understand looking to Twitter Blue as a good example of a subscription model when it's lowered the value of the site for both users and advertisers.
If you want verification, just use their old verification model. Buying phony prestige is fun when it gives us pretty rainbow checks that we *know* have no meaning beyond aesthetics (and funding a site we love to keep it going), but Twitter is pretending it's more than that because it's owner can only get prestige by purchasing it.
The CEO of Tumblr (same username here) is a proud Twitter blue subscriber

this is very specific but i'm loving the anatomy of your pern dragons. nothing gets on my tits more than dragon designs where the wings are attached to the forelimb shoulder - where are the flight muscles?! how does the wing attach there's a scapula in the way! there's no room it's all leg!! that and when the patagium stops at the ribs, it's so ugly and implausible.
I'm of two minds about this... I did make the pern designs relatively realistic (even though they don't have to be - in the pern books, they fly by telekinesis!) because I love flight and one of my biggest fascinations about the setting is that it's really a sci-fi story cleverly disguised as a fantasy. So it felt fitting (more on that later since I got another anon about the dragons too haha).
But they're called Dragons in pern because of a resemblance to the creatures of old earth legends. In those legends the dragon is a force of nature, not an animal. And I also really like meeting those legends within their own terms, I did the same for faeries in Inver. I love nonsensical dragons that exist only as a reflection of the storyteller's fear, more symbol than flesh and blood. So I really get behind anatomically impossible dragons as well, spoon wings included ... I don't think it's ugly. I think, under most fantasy or mythological storytelling circumstances, the Impossible Dragon is the most fitting interpretation, usually more fitting than the anatomically plausible dragon
#i just really like drawing fleshy beasts#kosaverse is sort of an attempt at anatomically impossible dragons (wyrms) but i waffled too hard on how fantastic the designs would be

🧌 Giants by David Larkin and Sarah Teale; illustrated by Julek Heller, Carolyn Scrace, and Juan Wijngaard
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Long ago the world was full of extraordinary creatures who have come to be called giants. They have since become extinct or endangered, leaving behind traces of who they once were. But the best source of information we have are myths and legends.
In the same stream as “Faeries” by Brian Froud & Alan Lee, and “Gnomes” by Wil Huygen & Rien Poortvliet, GIANTS collects folklore from around the world, hero stories, arcane legends, and beautiful illustrations. Seriously, the art in this book is amazing and atmospheric.
It was fun to read the lore, the habits and history of giants since they are an aspect of stories I haven’t often looked into. The few giants I’ve met have been the rock giants from The Neverending Story, and the evil giants from the movie The Flight of Dragons, and oh, who could forget the BFG by Roald Dahl. So reading a book filled with stories and lives of giants was fun indeed!

EXACTLY!
If a walrus showed up at my door, there would be SO MANY QUESTIONS. Who's cruel enough to drag the poor beast thousands of miles from its habitat to my desert doorstep? And why? And how? And... why???
If a fairy showed up at my door, there would be an answer: huh, I guess they do exist.
I think if a fairy showed up at my house like yeah they are not real but there is narrative precedent for that. a fairy, if it existed, would show up at a house. i just need to suspend one disbelief everything else tracks. it's a big surprise, but a singular one. i would know how to get with the programm pretty quick.
if a walrus knocked at my door there would be many more fucking questions than one. a walrus showing up at my house? knowing that knocking is the required social etiquette? having reasons to know on my door and somehow the ability to do that despite having no arms? said walrus coming to me of all people?? a walrus being real is the least of my concerns at that point why the fuck does it need my help what kind of problem can I solve that a socially aware and apparently findextrous walrus fucking can't

Day 22: Ladies
(Takes place in the Faerie Court of Avalon, NJ series. Donna Hanscum is a selkie sheriff. Amelia Everett Richardson is a veterinarian specializing in magical animals and animal forms. Matthew Pike is their foster son and best friends with Jack Kline Winchester, who is the adopted son of the faerie whose magic helped Amelia transition in exchange for her first born child-- Amelia's suggestion. The child's sire is either John Castiel Novak or James Constantine Novak, who are twins and Sam's husbands, and donated their sperm to the cause by way of artificial insemination.)
I NEVER THOUGHT that I would say I miss morning PT," Amelia Richardson groaned as she carefully eased herself down into the embrace of the large, overstuffed armchair that had pretty much been declared as her chair from the moment she had been invited to move in. They had just returned from another appointment with Meg, an almost 900-year-old dragon woman who had taken charge of Amelia's health care for the time despite technically only being a registered nurse at the hospital. Immortal credentials were hard to transfer over despite the Magical Revelation, but everyone Amelia had asked said Meg was more than capable, which was good enough for her. With a swing by Lighthouse CommodiTeas for a couple drinks and to drop Donna's foster son, Matt, off for a sleepover with his best friend, that meant that Donna and Amelia were going to have the apartment to themselves... and here Amelia was, sore and exhausted and wishing she was still doing the PT from her brief stint in the Marines again!
"Do you really?" Donna asked, eyebrows raised skeptically. Amelia thought about it, then made a face.
"No," she admitted and sighed. "I miss having the stamina to go up two flights of stairs without being winded. Not really looking forward to the long haul effort it's gonna take me to get back in shape after the munchkin pops out, either."
She placed a hand over her extended abdomen and immediately felt the roll and flex as the baby inside her womb shifted position and pressed back. There was still at least half a month to go on the incubation period, and while Amelia had no desire to rush things along and risk the baby's health from coming out earlier than intended, she also knew that she was quite ready to have the whole thing over and done with.
"It'll take longer than you'll like, but it won't take as long as you think," Donna promised with a pat to Amelia's shoulder as she passed. "Hungry?"
"Yes," Amelia admitted, a little sullenly. It felt ridiculous to be hungry when they'd just had lunch three hours ago. "Do we have any salt and vinegar chips left?"
"I got a few more cans yesterday," Donna called back as she disappeared into the kitchen. She was back a moment later with a can of the requested chips and a bottle of the Green Machine fruit smoothie, both of which she handed to Amelia. "Don't give me that look, Meg said to keep your iron levels up for the baby on account of the faerie magic at work."
"I know, I know," Amelia sighed. She obediently opened the smoothie bottle and gulped down a third of it before going for the chips. "So, we have the place to ourselves with the only kid still here being the one inside me... I know I can be a little oblivious, but this feels like a set-up for either a romantic evening or a serious conversation."
"Kinda," Donna admitted, ducking her head a little sheepishly. She dragged the ottoman over and sat down on it in front of Amelia, then lifted the other woman's feet into her lap, gently tugging off her shoes and rubbing soothing fingers over the marks left behind by them on Amelia's swelled feet and ankles. "This thing between us... it's working pretty well, right?"
"Yeah?" Amelia bit her lower lip, wrestling with the sudden spike of anxiety. "I mean, I kinda thought so. I know this... me living here... only really started because I had that dizzy spell right at the end of the first trimester and Meg put her foot down about me living alone while gestating..."
"Charlie would've offered to take you in as a roommate if I hadn't volunteered first," Donna admitted, ducking her head a little. "I almost had to arm wrestle her for it. And it wouldn't have made a difference in our dating, except for the driving back and forth. I kinda worried that you'd think I was jumping the gun, going from dinner out to moving in after just two months, but...."
"But I was already head over heels for you and jumped at the chance to move in with my gorgeous girlfriend, who actually wanted me to move in," Amelia finished with a crooked little smile that probably didn't do anything to hide the way her heartrate had picked up. She hesitated, then added softly, "Sometimes I wonder how things might've gone between us if we'd met earlier... before I was a real woman...."
"You were always a real woman, Lia-love," Donna broke in gently but firmly. "You might not've realized it at the time, but--"
"I was an angry shell of a person trying too hard to be a man because that's what was expected of me even by me," Amelia interrupted, shaking her head. "And as much as it pains me to say... you really wouldn't have liked me back then. I was a complete asshole, too lost in my own pain to care how much pain I put the people around me through. Being a woman... being allowed to be a woman... has made me a better person overall, and being with you just makes me keep wanting to work at being better. Because you deserve the best, and while I don't exactly think that's me, I'm just so damn grateful you're willing to settle for me anyway that I'll keep trying to be the woman you deserve in your life."
Donna's eyes were suspiciously bright as she reached out and fumbled to take Amelia's left hand in hers. She brought it up to her lips for a kiss, then turned it enough to kiss the base of Amelia's bare ring finger. And then, to Amelia's astonishment, Donna brought their twined hands together to touch the little gold locket she wore in the hollow of her throat.
"I showed you what's inside the front cover of this locket, right?" she asked, her voice thick with emotion. Nonplussed but feeling the unexpected weight to the question nonetheless, Amelia nodded, heart in her throat. "There's a compartment in the back... behind the engraved iris blossom. It's enchanted to have an expanded interior... because it's where I keep my pelt."
Amelia felt her heart practically slam to a stop in her chest before picking up triple its normal speed in shock. "Didi--"
"I don't expect you to do anything with this information," Donna went on, looking up into Amelia's eyes earnestly. "I keep it here because I never know when I might need to 'fursuit up' for an emergency, and I know you well enough to know you respect that and wouldn't try to hide it or anything... you'd probably bite the head off of anyone who did try and take it, knowing what's in it."
"Damn right, I would!" Amelia choked out, her vision starting to go a bit blurry around the edges. She'd take on anything and anyone that put her Donna in danger! "Why--"
"This thing we have is working real well," Donna said with a slight shrug, squeezing Amelia's hand gently. "I just wanted you to know where it is. So you'll know if something happens and it needs looking after."
The dam broke and Amelia burst into tears, too overwhelmed to do anything but cry and clutch at Donna's hand. She felt her girlfriend - was she her wife now? Fianceé? - lean forwards and draw her into a tender embrace. She collapsed against the other woman's chest and sobbed, choking on a wet laugh when the baby protested the suddenly squished position with a sharp kick.
Thank you, she wept, unable to voice the words properly. I love you. I promise I won't let you down.
And the kiss Donna pressed into Amelia's hair felt like a truer benediction than that of any god.

My totally normal lizardfolk, Ari!
…okay yeah you got me, there was some magical shit that happened and her claws are now extra long, she’s working on fixing that.
But fuller story: Ari is my current D&D character. Her name and (base) appearance is based off of my brother’s late breaded dragon of the same name.
Ari is a lizardfolk moon druid that can be summed as “learning from nature and those around her to grow stronger”. She left her tribe to follow that goal and eventually met up with her current adventuring party. On one mission, she found “genetic testing equipment” which she can use to physically augment her body by finding various reagents and components.
So far she’s given herself water-breathing and flight. Her wing design is based off of a faerie dragon, as that was one of the flying creatures she dissected and studied (it’s name was Otto and its death caused a bit of a party rift, oops). Dark-vision is next on the list (the party is unfazed by her looting eyeballs at this point, lol). She’s also amassed a collect of poisons/venom to maybe do something with.

Bryce Cousland went from fighting Orlais in the rebel army to being Maric's trusted liason with Orlais after the war.
Eleanor Mac EanRaig Cousland was sinking Orlesian warships as a teenager.
I love the implication of, "we're happy to trade with you now that we have peace, but if you try anything we *will* sink your ships."
(I just love love love Eleanor's backstory in general.)
