Cover Reveal! - "Pirate Ghosts & Buried Treasures of the Northeast Coast: A Historical Assessment on Pirate Folklore" - Covering tales of the coasts from Maryland to Maine
Tumblr media
Cover reveal! "Pirate Ghosts & Buried Treasures of the Northeast Coast: A Historical Assessment on Pirate Folklore" is the second book in my series of history books on the topic of pirate folklore. As with my first title, this book compiles all pirate-relevant claims of ghostly hauntings and buried treasure, both those well-known and very obscure, and relays the tales as they are known - but I also provide my own thoughts and discuss the validity of said claims and what truly happened in the area historically.
This book has been in progress for about 5 and a half years and was written largely during the same time period as my first title, but I've worked on it extensively throughout the last year to finish it up. The book covers the American states of Maryland (as the Southeast book concludes in Virginia) and expands up to the northernmost shores of Maine, detailing not only the piratical tales but covering the relevant superstitions of the New England area, the "Treasure Craze" that ensued among the public following the historical buried treasure of Captain William Kidd, and those of the northern coasts who found themselves caught up in it.
If the southeast coast is associated with Blackbeard, the northeast's pirate poster-child is Captain Kidd, but also expect to hear a good amount about Samuel Bellamy, Edward Low, and Dixie Bull. Combined with countless claims of witches, curses, superstitions, and religious claims largely inspired by New England's puritanical roots and Salem's association with black magic, many tales are very interesting. It provides a great look at how pirates (and their alleged treasure) was seen by the public throughout the ages, leading up to our modern day.
The book releases on September 18th on Amazon. However, I'll have more news regarding it in the coming weeks. In the meantime, I encourage you to share this with anyone you think might be interested! Suitable for any interested in Captain Kidd, folklore, spooky things, or those along the northern coasts interested in their pirate-relevant history!
Thank you so much everyone for the support surrounding my previous title, The Southeast Coast, and I'm excited to finally release this next collection of history.

🧌 Giants by David Larkin and Sarah Teale; illustrated by Julek Heller, Carolyn Scrace, and Juan Wijngaard
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Long ago the world was full of extraordinary creatures who have come to be called giants. They have since become extinct or endangered, leaving behind traces of who they once were. But the best source of information we have are myths and legends.
In the same stream as “Faeries” by Brian Froud & Alan Lee, and “Gnomes” by Wil Huygen & Rien Poortvliet, GIANTS collects folklore from around the world, hero stories, arcane legends, and beautiful illustrations. Seriously, the art in this book is amazing and atmospheric.
It was fun to read the lore, the habits and history of giants since they are an aspect of stories I haven’t often looked into. The few giants I’ve met have been the rock giants from The Neverending Story, and the evil giants from the movie The Flight of Dragons, and oh, who could forget the BFG by Roald Dahl. So reading a book filled with stories and lives of giants was fun indeed!

Guess what finally got added to my Ko-Fi shop?!?! Braidy von Althuis hardcovers! This one comes with a very nice dust jacket that has illustrations of Mr. von Althuis and Mr. Low in the inside.
Ten-year-old Braidy von Althuis just wants one thing: to fit in. The other kids at school think he’s weird, and for good reason. Despite his oddities, Braidy wants more than anything for his dad to be able to come to Township Day, a fun-filled event at school, but Mr. von Althuis refuses. “It’s too dangerous,” he says. Things change for Braidy when Mr. von Althuis gets sick, and, even worse, this pesky pest controller won’t leave Braidy alone! Will Braidy be able to get his family to Township Day without his world falling apart? Braidy von Althuis and the Pesky Pest Controller is a tale of friendship, family, magic, and mayhem that takes a look at what it means to be bullied and how to rise above it. This book is suitable for children aged 8 - 11.
You can grab a signed copy from my Ko-Fi store!

Jill Karla Schwarz, 'Tam Lin', ''Fairies and Elves'', 1984 Source I'm going to use this post as the perfect opportunity to direct you to my favorite song from the folk band Fairport Convention from their 1969 album 'Liege & Lief', Tam Lin (which, I'm sure, I've posted about at some point)
