A few of these I fell off after because it took me too long to read the book and my ADHD brain got bored so I don't have super strong opinions on some of the rest of the series. It also depends what you want I've got Ilittle bit of a range

The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series by Micheal Scott was pretty good but I fell off after reading The Warlock because I couldn't find the last book. I need to re-read them. similar vibes to a few other series. it interwinds mythology, magic, prophecies, and the whole 'there's a hidden world I didn't know about right in front of me' kind of thing that kotlc pjo and harry potter have

Disney villain backstory books. I've only got and have read Mother Gothel's(Mother Knows Best: A Tale of the Old Witch) and that's one of my favourites, but the rest I've heard are also really good!

(im gonna gush about individual pieces now because !!!!)

First of all, the characterization in this. Yes, I know, it's Vee, of course the characterization is on point, that's one of the things they're best at. But it's just! so ! good! Jealous Joel, and lost Etho and fucking Bdubs, they're all so distinct and feel so real it's crazy. One of the character highlights though, is Pearl. Gosh, that was- i don't want to spoil anything, but DAMN. Yes. Just yes.

Secondly, the way this fic is laid out makes it so engaging to read, with the alternating sections of the present and the past, just revealing things in a way that lets you piece together the picture that Vee paints. It makes rereading an entirely different experience, knowing what it's all leading up to, knowing how it ends.

And lastly (because i don't want to make this too hard to read) The ENDING oh my god the ending. Joel is so- and and the reveal- and Etho-

hgnnnh i would rec this entire series if i could (it's 14 fics totally 200k total). its all so chewy i want to get my teeth into it and rrrrrrrrrr. ANYWAY this is my no 1 fav i've been back and re-read it about 7 times. love the Camila Noceda POV; the way it captures the chaos of all 6 kids in the house and makes it feel so real & vivid; the absolutely brutal Hunter characterisation. if ur a Hunter fan go read this right away.

It takes some time for the reality to settle in and for them to realize how useless everything they have brought is going to be when their marrow freezes. Hunter hears some of the Scouts inhaling sharply after they approach the ledge and look down. They turn around, unsure where to start, and they shuffle their feet in the snow (terrible decision, really, this way their boots are going to get wet even quicker). Hunter’s the first one to break the silence, and oh, he does it with style. He has been rehearsing that line for a week. “See you at the bottom, suckers!” he exclaims as he pulls out the staff and disappears in a flash of red light. (or: The Obligatory "Leave Everyone at the Top of the Mountain and See Who Makes It Back to the Bottom Alive" Fic. With a splash of Steve)

The view from the staircase is, well, not stunning, that’s definitely not the word. It’s just that “view” is supposed to be accompanied by “stunning,” and Luz can feel her brain coming to a screeching halt and refusing to process what they’re seeing. It's skeletons. Come on, they both knew it was going to be skeletons. The entire Isles know at this point. (Or: despite what the stories would have you believe, in the aftermath, there are things to deal with. Those things include ruined infrastructure, electing new leaders, and prosecuting those responsible for the old regime. And apparently, also Grimwalker mass graves.)

& third and final. unbelievably chewy post-canon fic. lets get into the reconstruction of the isles in full detail. goes hard as hell. will sit in my brain for a long time i think. cannot rec this enough.

you seem like a Velvette fan so im going to prioritise her. there is a terrible dearth of shippy content with her, so i've included some platonic fics that you can squint at.

oversized jackets and the worry that comes with them by Erin_kate is this wonderful fic, part of a series, which covers Velvette's struggles with ED through Vox's point of view. although it isn't tagged as ship there's definitely a read for it, as they're this constant support for each other despite their difficulties. i made fanart for it which you can spot in chapter 1 of snippets of a life worth leading's comment section. however, if you're a Val fan, he isn't the kindest here.

@voxofficial snapped lmao by ckret2, though not tagged as the ship, it's an excellent, hilarious character piece if you're looking for a dynamic and alive relationship between the three of them. it's Velvette's POV as she discusses Vox's Alastor/Pentious Theory Board. Val rocks up halfway through and they're a wonderful romp.

Revelations in Technicolor by Awesome_Possum is domestic and lovely, yet they're still as awful as they should be. in this work, Vox opens up about his past to the rest of the Vees, Velvette's POV.

Marinette Dupain-Cheng was among the casualties.

Years later, Adrien hasn't been able to move on, haunted by the memories of her broken body. So, when the opportunity to leave Paris for a while presents itself, he doesn't hesitate. But this trip might end up giving him more than he ever dreamt of.

This is a fantastic fic, though a serious and a dark one - make sure to mind the tags, and it’s M-rated for a reason. Vee - or rather, Marinette - is going through a horror story here. Imagine finding out that your life is a lie, that everyone you thought you could trust was manipulating you, that you were just being continually gaslit for years. 

As for Adrien, Alya, and Nino... well, none of them took Marinette’s “death” all that well, especially Adrien. Finding out that she’s been alive all this time, in these horrible circumstances, and they had no clue... it’s hard on them as well.

I love how this fic goes into how much trauma everyone has even after the immediate danger’s dealt with, you don’t just walk off this kind of experience, especially with how many years this lasted.

It isn’t until she moves in with her only friend, a detective she’s known since preschool, that she finds her purpose, solving his harder cases with the help of her spiritual connections. Three years later, she’s thriving. Her own business, two best friends, a K-9 drop out as a companion- life couldn’t get better. Until she meets Chat. A ghost with amnesia and a mask to match, Chat isn’t sure what he needs to move on to the afterlife (and, considering he’s stuck around for another three years, he doesn’t seem in all that much of a hurry to figure it out either!) When Amelie Agreste, a socialite from out of town, comes to Marinette for help locating her missing nephew, Marinette knows her career and her life will be on the line. But even a murderer intent on silencing her forever can’t keep Marinette from seeking the truth.

This is a really fun detective story. You can probably guess one or two of the major twists (not counting the twist of "Adrien is Chat Noir" which I certainly HOPE isn't a spoiler to anyone reading this), but that doesn't make it any less satisfying, especially with how Marinette's and Chat's relationship is developed. Or well, what interactions we see from them, since they've known each other for years by the time the story starts. I adore the "my friend is a ghost" trope, and the identity shenanigans and mystery around what actually happened to Adrien kept me wondering.

It's an M-rated fic, which I'm guessing is mostly due to an attempted sexual assault at one point in the story, though it doesn't get very far before it's stopped. I also want to warn Luka fans that he's not shown in the best light in this fic, though it's not too extreme.

Interlinked (Blade Runner 2049 | Officer K x F!Reader)

This is hands down my favorite thing I’ve ever written. Officer K is such a unique character to write for, and I loved exploring an emotionally driven story rooted in two broken people coming together. Although there is some sexual content in the fic, I made a point to use distinct language in those scenes to keep the focus on their emotional connection. I also feel like I had some really great descriptive lines in this story.

Stand By Me Masterlist (Outer Range | Rhett Abbott x F!Reader)

This is my most ambitious story to date, and I hope to finish it. It has all my favorite tropes (fake dating, protective MC, forced proximity between two people who don’t know each other well, etc.). I really enjoy writing the tenuous moments where Rhett and the reader are trying to figure things out, as well as exploring the fear, anxiety, and uncertainty she feels. Plus, I have some fun plot twists coming up. I only wish the Rhett fandom were more active.

Nothing Lasts But Light (Moon Knight | Layla El-Faouly x Reader x Marc Spector)

I really enjoyed exploring an existing relationship between Layla and the reader that Marc becomes a part of. It’s angsty, smutty, and emotionally charged. This was one of my first times writing a threesome, and I enjoyed flexing my writing muscles to achieve that.
