Drew a bunch of characters and decided to give Scraps and Glisten headcanon designs! (Glisten cause he's my best friend's fave character and I wanna draw him for him in the future without hating it) covered Scraps in a bunch of paint splatters and turned her hands into pompoms, and decided to make Glisten a ballerina because I had no better ideas, I think he would like ballet, and he gives me ballet vibes from when I used to do it when I was really little (Dropping Crumb Lore for you guys, yes I did ballet) idc if it's self indulgent idk how else to draw him shut up. I'll likely change the outfit tho I hate it

Rest of the characters I didn't add that much to, gave Vee a suit ig but I suck at drawing suits so I didn't really try. Don't ask me why I drew her with that face, I felt like it shut up.

Writing tip #1 :

Replace "perfect" with "enjoyable". If you can enjoy reading your own story, then you have achieved the primary purpose of the "perfect" story.

Things that genuinely bugs me about some fics with the Vees that I need to get off my chest. No hate, just a bit of incoherent venting.

As a preface, I'm not necessarily saying any fic that uses any of the following stuff is inherently bad, I've seen a LOT of good fics that use these, but it just drives me crazy when it's all I see and it's very surface level.

For starters, Velvette.

Almost ANY time I see a fic with an abusive staticmoth relationship dynamic (The ones that are playing off of the Voxtagram posts- I have something to say about them too honestly), it's always something along the lines of 'Oh, Valentino's so cruel to poor Voxy, and Velvette's his only true friend, ahhh, they're so close'. Istg this drives me insane. I don't know if it's just the type of fics I read or what, but what about Velvette do you all think shows she's a nice person?? (I mean, the same can be said for Vox, but we're focused on the doll rn) I've seen people say they think she's the most likely to be redeemed of the Vees, and why?? What makes you say that?!?

Literally- If you want to be nitpicky, the only Vee we've seen that hasn't mistreated his employees is in fact Vox, which, his woobifiecation has a part later. But why does everybody make Velvette the nice one!?! I don't know, just, if you want to make Val abusive to Vox, make Velvette the same?? It makes more logical sense too, since Valentino and Vox have known each other for years, and they're close, but Val's still a piece of shit. So why is Velvette nice!? She actually, in canon, treats Vox... worse than Valentino does!? So why is she always portrayed as the 'nice one' in abusive Staticmoth fics?

Also, anybody who says they think she's the brains/backbone of the Vees!? No??We see her do one (1) smart thing, which is identify Carmilla Carmine's reaction, but like. Do we really think the Vees, who were very open about being a team, didn't talk about it beforehand like they did with Pentious?? And she clearly can't be bothered to deal with Valentino, so why do you believe her when she says she's the backbone?!

And Valentino, omg. Like, yes, his character is objectively shitty. Yes, he's Not a Good Person.

But why do so many fans (I'm big on Radiostatic, so I'm mostly talking about those fics) make Val the Big Bad in other Vox ships?!? Like, toxic Staticmoth is amazing, yes. But, outside of the now retconned Voxtagram posts, Val is never too horribly bad to Vox. In fact, they're really close. So WHY is it this hard to find a Vox x literally anybody else (platonic or romantic) where Val isn't a piece of shit to him. (And no, I'm not saying every fic is like that, just that a significant portion is.)

Vox. I swear.

Honestly, I can understand the woobiefication for him more than I can understand Velvette's or Valentino's... just, people removing all his good traits. He's portrayed as pathetic the most, he's the one with the most focus, he's actually, from what we've seen, the most decent of the Vees beyond his comment to Pentious. (Velvette makes love potion and verbally abuses her employees, while also not caring about them at all, Valentino's... Val, Vox does manipulate the masses and all that, but like, not in a way that's extremely bad compared to his business partners? Really, his worst crime atm is being an enabler and being horrible to Pentious.)

But why. Why must he be portrayed as so overtly pathetic? Like, I get it to some extent, and it's hilarious in fandom, but when people start thinking that he's that pathetic in canon, it rubs me the wrong way. Yes, he's my favorite and I'm biased, but like. He's not that pathetic people.

Tl;dr, Velvette being protrayed as a super nice person (to Vox, in fics where Valentino is portrayed as abusive) and the most decent/smartest Vee, Valentino having all his good traits removed, and Vox being treated as overtly pathetic drives me crazy. It's still fun to read sometimes, but when people say they think it's canon, I actually can't believe it.

If vox actually does gets something akin to a character arc in season 2 ( I don't think it's going to happen but idk at this point) I want it to be that he eventually faces a situation where he's forced let go of his feud with Alastor ( yknow the physical manifestation of all his insecurities and inferiority complex that he's been clutching on to for the past eternity) , in exchange for the people he actually wants to have around in his life, and genuinely care about him in return

and then they can all die horribly ever after

okay i know the spider within got some shade recently but as someone with anxiety it kind of spoke to me?

like how miles was joking around trying to keep himself together and it just built up rather than just randomly being anxious (and the late night walks are so real too)

especially the fact that his anxiety was caused by multiple things at the same time n it just bubbled over idk the fact that he just tried to ignore it / see it as not serious is something ive found to be pretty common (and a BAD coping mechanism)

his spider sense is a survival mechanism more than anything and a lot of the time w attacks u feel like you're literally suffocating / dying rather than clocking that it's an anxiety attack

as cliche as anxiety and panic attacks r in media personally i think they captured it pretty well (at least for that short 5min duration) uhh that's all i got to add tbh! just my experience

Hi everyone, Vee here 🫶🏻

I’m sorry for disappearing for a month without a notice and I have worried some people with my absence, but I’m still here and I’m not going anywhere anytime soon

I just wanted to let you all know that I’m alive and haven’t gone anywhere, I just needed some space and time to deal with the very difficult situation I’m going through right now with my health, both mental and physical, and life has gotten too overwhelming. I’ll be okay once again eventually, I suppose.

My body is failing me and my mind is following it, and it’s been hard to cope.

I am also sorry to also disappoint you since I have no art to share nor have I any wips underway and I don’t know when will I get anything done or if at all. I’m experiencing a severe burnout and along the way I’ve lost the joy of creating. I do hope it’ll eventually find back to me, I don’t know when or if it will, but I hope it will.

I’ll Probably Be Deleting this, But I wanted to Say It

TW for mentions of Hazbin Hotel Characters (specifically Valentino), and SA and abusive relationship mentions

I’m not one to every make call out posts, and this is not that at all, but please be mindful when comparing the Wild Kratts villains with the Hazbin Hotel Villains, specifically the 3 Vees - Velvette, Vox and Valentino. Do I see the similarities between Velvette and Donita and Vox and Zach? Absolutely. I’ve compared Zach to Vox and Velvette to Donita. But to compare Valentino to any of the Wild Kratts Villains (I’ve seen him compared to Zach and Gourmand), is very disturbing to me.

Valentino is a reprehensible individual who has committed horrific crimes that none of the Wild Kratts villains have committed (I’m not saying their behavior is better than his, each one has committed horrible crimes, but I’m just saying the flavor of his crimes is appalling). And to compare his crimes with their crimes, as a survivor of an abusive relationship and SA it just really sits wrong with me…but maybe I’m wrong in thinking they should not be compared to a monster like Valentino 🤷‍♀️.

Maybe I’m looking at this wrong because I found Wild Kratts and used the very two characters, Zach and Gourmand, with whom the comparisons have been made to heal from my past trauma with an individual who was so like Valentino…again this is not a call out, and I’ll likely be deleting it, but I wanted to say it.
