Vasectomy Recovery: Tips for a Smooth Journey
Tumblr media
A vasectomy is a surgical procedure for male sterilization. While it's generally safe and effective, understanding the recovery process is crucial for a smooth experience.
Key Recovery Tips
Rest and Recovery: Allow yourself adequate time to rest and avoid strenuous activities.
Ice Application: Applying ice packs to the scrotum can help reduce swelling and discomfort.
Pain Management: Over-the-counter pain relievers can alleviate mild discomfort.
Supportive Undergarments: Loose-fitting underwear can provide added comfort.
Follow-up Appointments: Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments to monitor your healing progress.
What to Watch For
Excessive Bleeding: If you experience heavy or persistent bleeding, contact your doctor immediately.
Severe Pain: Intense or worsening pain could be a sign of infection.
Fever: A temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher should be reported to your doctor.
Swelling: Significant swelling that doesn't improve over time should be evaluated.
Resuming Normal Activities
Sexual Activity: Avoid sexual activity until your doctor clears you.
Heavy Lifting: Refrain from heavy lifting for the recommended period.
Physical Exercise: Gradually return to your regular exercise routine after consulting your doctor.
Remember, individual recovery times may vary. Always follow your doctor's advice for optimal healing.

The spiritual opposite of that song "Everyone Else Has Had More Sex Than Me" is how I felt at my gyno appointment today. How many sexual partners have you had? Bro I just put 10+ bc you can't expect me to remember and I had more than that by age 20. "Are you sexually active?" yeah "Are you monogamous?" no "*brief, stunned silence*" I GET THAT WE LIVE IN WEST VIRGINIA AND I'M WEIRD AND QUEER LOOKING BUT DOC I GOTTA TELL U PPL STILL WANNA HIT IT IDK WHAT TO TELL YOU

can we get a blurb of carmy post vasectomy??? like her picking him up and giving him ice and everything.
"There he is." You grin, opening the car door when Carmen walked out. His face says it all, a grimace of discomfort that has you cooing at him sweetly.
"Hi, baby." You mutter, reaching up to kiss his cheek gently, taking the jacket from off his arm carefully.
"Hi, honey." Carmen mutters, the ice pack firm on his groin. Normally, he'd be mortified, holding ice to his crotch in public, but he was too uncomfortable to care. The numbing shot had helped at the beginning but now, it was starting to wear, and the stretched ache of skin in his groin area was coming back.
Carmen stood, grunting in a low huff as he shuffled towards the passenger side. You shut the door after him, sliding into the driver's side, eyes lighting up when he saw the little care package you'd put together on the floor board.
"How're you feeling?" You asked, pulling off the curb of the clinic.
"Not too bad. Just feels... weird." Carmen shrugged, grunting and looking down at the basket. "What's this?" You could practically hear the grin on his face, eyes cutting towards him.
"Just a little something for you, baby." You purr with a grin, flicking on your turn signal at the light. "A little care package for you. To help you feel better."
"Sorry About Your Ding-Dongs." Carmen read the post-it slapped over the Hostess box with an amused snort. "Funny."
"I thought so." You hummed, leaning over the arm rest to look at him. "Richie did too."
"Yeah? He pick the No More Kids?" Carmen asked, raising the box of Sour Patch Kids with a post-it covering it. "Or the Fire Balls?" He lifted the two shots up to you with a grin.
"He actually did the bag of peanuts at the bottom." You nod towards the basket. "The one that says In Case You Need To Bust A Nut. Fak did the Fire Balls."
Carmen laughed, shifting carefully to set the basket back down. "Hey, look at me." He muttered, leaning over the console when you rolled to a stop at a red light.
Your cheeks heated meeting his dazzling blue eyes, lips curling in a soft smile. "Love you, baby. Thank you." Carmen muttered, leaning in towards you.
"Thank me?" You grinned, tilting your head to the side. "Think I'm supposed to be thanking you, Bear. You're the one who took the snip."
"Nah, no way, c'mon." Carmen shook his head. "You gave me two babies, don't even. Least I could do after that, and you know it." You blushed, head lulling back into the seat when you looked at him- all starry eyed and in love.
"Well, thank you anyways. Can finally throw my birth control out." You grin, grabbing his hand on the console while you drove.
"Yeah? Have to wait a week, baby." Carmen muttered, voice falling slightly. "Doctor said I could like tear my scrotum or some shit."
"Yikes." You suck in a breath, looking over at him. "Well, I'll make sure to cover up then."
"Won't matter." Carmen shrugged, thumb running over your hand. "Get me hard all the time. Just thinkin' about you." Grinning at the laugh you gave him.

🌸He handed you a printed copy of your appointment to the fertility clinic one sunday afternoon, making you cry and jump on his lap, kissing each other
🌸This is him preparing the soil for his retirement, a warm home to come back to

🌸Completely over the moon when your baby boy finally arrived. He is pressing his forehead to yours and thanking you for this beautiful gift
🌸The nights at home he is beside you in bed, shirtless with the newborn resting on his chest, one hand holding the little one, the other resting on your thigh

Attendees at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago will have the opportunity to receive free vasectomies and abortions blocks away from the proceedings at the United Center.
Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, which operates in parts of Missouri and Illinois, will park its mobile health clinic near the DNC on Aug. 19 and Aug. 20, according to The New York Times. Medication abortions are reportedly available on both days, with vasectomies being exclusively offered Monday.
Excuse me? What kind of evil hell is this? Of course it’s Planned Parenthood doing this. And it’s medical abortions, too. Is this even safe? Is there even follow-up doctor visit after? This sounds dangerous.

Andrew Davis at Windy City Times:
As the Democratic National Convention (DNC) kicks off, Planned Parenthood is providing free vasectomies, medication abortion and emergency contraception from a mobile clinic parked just blocks from the convention on Aug. 19-20.  Continuing  Planned Parenthood’s mission to provide “care, no matter where,” procedures are available for patients who sign up in advance. According to a press release, “The mobile clinic is a demonstration of the possibilities when states like Illinois work to support, rather than restrict, access to affordable health care. Having the mobile clinic at the DNC is another way Planned Parenthood constantly works to expand services for Illinois residents and to address the influx of patients to Illinois as surrounding states continue to enact severe restrictions on reproductive care, including extreme abortion bans.”
Planned Parenthood Great Rivers (PPGR) is offering medication abortion, emergency contraception, and vasectomy services at its mobile clinic at the DNC in Chicago this week.
PPGR serves the eastern and southwestern parts of Missouri and Southern Illinois.

Democrats are throwing an "abortion-palooza" in Chicago for the Democratic National Convention.
"They’re degrading human life and women for that matter. It's just absolutely disgusting. This continued celebration of abortion," Democrats For Life of America executive director Kristen Day told Fox News Digital.
Day is appalled that Planned Parenthood is offering free abortions inside a "mobile health clinic" parked in Chicago during the convention. Pro-abortion activists also marched through the streets of Chicago ahead of the convention.
"I think this convention is going to be abortion-palooza. In response to them providing abortions, we would provide actual support to women in need. So, we started a diaper drive," Day said.
CHICAGO GETS ‘WEIRD’ FOR DNC WITH ABORTION TRUCKS, INFLATABLE IUD AND FREE VASECTOMIES, CONSERVATIVES SAY
"Planned parenthood, this is what they do. They do abortions. They, they do not support pregnant women," she continued. "And this just continues to prove the fact that that is their main focus… all they care about is abortion."
Day believes the "overall problem" with the Democratic Party is the constant "celebration of abortion," which used to be something progressives wanted to be safe, legal and rare.
"The fixation on it from the extremists, it’s harmful to women," she said.
"In states with the largest abortion numbers, they don't even report the numbers. They don't report the side effects. They don't report the negative effects. And, the states that do, we've seen in some states women have nine or more abortions. How is that good for women's health? It's not at all," Day continued. "So, I think the celebration of having the free abortions here is just, a real travesty for Americans."
Day predicted that the DNC would come and go without any talk of "respecting life," which she said further motivates Democrats For Life of America.
"We’re showing what it means to respect human life and to get pregnant women the resources they need, get new mothers the resources they need. And that's what the Democrats should be focused on. That's consistent with Democratic values. Providing abortions and killing babies is not consistent with helping the most vulnerable in our society," Day said.
PLANNED PARENTHOOD OFFERING FREE ABORTIONS, VASECTOMIES AT DNC
Democrats have made abortion a central theme in their campaigns across the country this election year, including warning that a Republican control of Congress, in tandem with another four years in the White House for former President Trump, would mean a nationwide ban.
Since the reversal of Roe v. Wade and Vice President Kamala Harris stepping in to replace President Biden, the Democratic Party has doubled down on rhetoric surrounding a "woman's right to choose."
Day said that former Presidents Clinton and Obama largely went by the "safe, legal and rare" mantra but "with Kamala Harris, it’s abortion first" when it comes to the polarizing issue.
"I just I have no faith that she will do anything to reverse this trend. I just don't see where we go as pro-life Democrats in this party when they when they don't want us," Day said.
She said her group is in Chicago to directly engage with Democratic leaders.
"We want to talk to the delegates and ask them, ‘Do you think that this party is big enough for pro-life Democrats? Do you think that we should be included?’ So, I'm really interested to, you know, to have these conversations and figure out the future for pro-life Democrats and where we stand," Day said.
Day said she would like to ask Vice President Harris and other top Democrats if they have ever spoken with a woman who regrets an abortion, someone who needed help from a pregnancy center in order to carry their baby to term or even a rape victim who chose to keep the baby. She believes the "celebration of abortion does more harm to these women" who have already made very difficult decisions.
If Day gets a chance to speak with DNC chair Jaime Harrison, it’ll be a first.
"We have met with every single party chair since I started this job. That’s the first thing we do when a new party chair is elected, we go and bring elected pro-life Democrats into the DNC and explain why the party needs to be the big tent party and why it’s important to include pro-life voices," she said.
"Jaime Harrison refused to meet with us," Day added. "He refused to meet with elected Democrats to talk about the issue and to get a better sense of where we stand."
A DNC spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment about Harrison.
Day, who has been a Democrat since she worked on Michael Dukakis’ campaign in 1988, said her group would "have to discuss" leaving the Democratic Party after the onslaught of abortion glorification that is rampant at the DNC. She also feels "real hostility" from Democrats because of her pro-life views.
"I think that’s a decision that, you know, we’re going to have to really think long and hard on," she said.  "The Republican Party is now the big tent party... and the Democratic Party is becoming so much more narrow. If I leave, it wouldn’t be because I wanted to, it’s because they don’t want me."
Day feels "the Republicans are really opening the door for pro-life Democrats to move over," which could drastically impact elections.
"So, I think the Democratic Party has to wake up," she said. "The abortion issue is so important to them, it seems like they don’t care. Abortion is more important than winning."
The Democrats For Life of America diaper drive has raised thousands of dollars for Chicago families.
"We're talking to the local pregnancy centers in the in Chicago and seeing what they need so we can fulfill all their requests," Day said.

Post-Vasectomy Care: What to Watch Out For
Tumblr media
While vasectomy is a safe and common procedure, it's essential to be aware of potential complications. Here's what to watch for:
Common Post-Vasectomy Side Effects:
Mild pain and discomfort: This is normal and usually subsides within a few days.
Swelling and bruising: Expected in the scrotum area.
Bleeding: Some light bleeding is common, but excessive bleeding should be reported to your doctor.
Serious Complications (Less Common):
Infection: Symptoms include fever, severe pain, redness, or swelling.
Hematoma: A painful blood clot under the skin.
Chronic Pain: Persistent pain after the initial recovery period may require further evaluation.
When to Seek Medical Attention:
Severe pain: If you experience intense or worsening pain.
Excessive bleeding: If you're soaking through more than a few bandages.
Fever: A temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher.
Signs of infection: Redness, swelling, or pus at the incision site.
Urinary problems: Difficulty urinating or blood in the urine.
Remember: While complications are rare, it's essential to monitor your body closely after the procedure and seek medical advice if you have any concerns.

After last summer's Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization allowed states to ban abortion, urologists across the United States saw a dramatic surge in the demand for vasectomies.
Normally, vasectomy procedures peak towards the end of the year, but the mid-year Court decision led to an unexpected increase in demand in 46 states.
The greatest increases in patients undergoing this elective procedure were in states that implemented "trigger bans" severely limiting abortion access. These states experienced an average increase of 41% in vasectomy rates between July and September, compared to 26% in other states. States such as Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah saw rates rise by more than 40%.
The post-Dobbs patients opting for vasectomies tended to be younger than the typical candidates. Data from Komodo revealed a small but consistent drop in the average age of patients undergoing vasectomies in the latter half of 2022.
Motivations behind this trend varied among patients. Some men expressed concerns about the lack of a reliable backup if their primary contraception method failed in the absence of abortion access, as vasectomy has a success rate of over 99%. Others were motivated by the fear that vasectomy itself could be outlawed next. Among this younger demographic of patients seeking to take control of their reproductive responsibilities were men who saw their decision as an act of solidarity with women.
Due to longstanding patriarchal constructs, vasectomy is viewed as a sacrifice for many men, involving recovery time and potential risks, along with misconceptions and concerns about its impact on masculinity. In reality, recovery time for this simple 30-minute outpatient procedure is 2-3 days, and there is no clinical evidence to support the notion that a vasectomy leads to a decreased sense of masculinity. The procedure does not have any direct physiological or hormonal effects on masculinity, sexual function, or masculinity-related characteristics.
In fact, by opting for vasectomy, men share the responsibility of contraception and alleviate the burden on women. By doing so, these men further embody the traditionally masculine traits of responsibility, self-reliance, decisiveness, and courage through taking an active role in family planning.
While the overturning of Roe v Wade has decimated women's rights in America, the increase in vasectomies following the ruling may be seen as a small consolation, a small step toward the long aggrieved concept of gender equity. As more men take proactive measures to dismantle the patriarchal idea that both conception and contraception are solely "women's issues," they act as leaders showing others the intrinsic value in the dignity and selflessness of their decision.
While our nation's leaders continue to restrict the rights afforded to pregnancy carriers, we are fortunate to have a younger generation of the impregnator class recognizing the devastating, often deadly effects of these laws and mastering the art of doing something about it.

Congrats to the GOP.
People will not forget.
In a paper published on April 12th in jama Health Forum, a medical journal, researchers from the University of Pittsburgh and Boston University analysed data on permanent contraceptive procedures among 18- to 30-year-olds (see chart). They looked at 22m instances of patients attending at least one appointment, for either evaluation or treatment, in each month between January 2019 and September 2023. These were mostly at academic medical centres, so government-funded public clinics providing free family-planning services to poor people may not have been adequately represented. The results are nonetheless striking. The jama study found a sharp jump in permanent contraceptive procedures among both men and women in the months after the Dobbs decision. Before Dobbs, there were around 250 tubal ligations for every 100,000 women with health-care appointments per month. But immediately afterwards that number jumped by 58. In the following months, the growth rate accelerated from its baseline of 2.8 additional procedures per month in the three and a half years leading up to Dobbs to more than five. Men underwent fewer contraceptive procedures to begin with. Just before the Dobbs ruling, the study finds, there were around 50 vasectomies per 100,000 male outpatients per month. This rate had been steadily increasing by about one procedure per month. In the month right after Dobbs, however, it jumped by 27, before reverting to its previous growth rate. What to make of these numbers? Those who had already been planning to undergo the procedure may have expedited their decisions. Some may have also feared a broader crackdown on other forms of contraception. Groups advocating the right to abortion have warned that bans from the moment of conception could be interpreted to include the morning-after pill and intrauterine devices. That would suggest that permanent contraception, rather than a temporary method, is becoming more prevalent among young people. But that carries greater risks of so-called sterilisation regret. A global review of studies in 2005 found that women who had tubal ligations at 30 or younger were eight times more likely to undergo a reversal or an evaluation for in vitro fertilisation than those who had the procedure later in life. A more recent paper, in 2022, focusing on America, found that 13% of surveyed women who had their tubes tied at 30 or younger regretted their decision, compared with 7% of women who were over 30 at the time of the procedure. The decisions that Dobbs is forcing on young Americans may affect their lives in ways that were not widely anticipated.
