I think Luna, Queen Faustina(naenia) and the shapeless one are wayyy too similar in the way they are drawn, the lines, the eyes. Shapeless one has one red eye and another blue eye, like naenia and the vampire of the blue moon..... am i missing smt or?

You're absolutely right! A lot of this actually gets pointed out by characters in the manga as well, so we know it's all intentional on Mochijun's part.

When Noé sees Luna in Misha's memories, he remarks in confusion that Luna looks extremely similar to Faustina:

Then, when Jeanne sees The Shapeless One for the first time in the amusement park, she observes that his left eye is the exact same color as Vanitas's eyes (and therefore the same color as Luna's eyes).

Teacher's right eye is violet, not crimson like Faustina's, so he's not a perfect combination of the other two, but there's definitely something going on here. Even without the visual link, we know they're connected, as Ruthven says Teacher was the first vampire to serve her (and the one to do so for the longest). He's extremely old, the oldest vampire we know of besides the queen, so he may even have some connection to Babel and Faustina's origins. (I'm personally a fan of the Teacher is Paracelsus theory, but that should really be a separate post).

As for your confusion, I honestly think you're right to be confused! We have all these extremely conspicuous connections and similarities, but no explanations yet. It's all just hints and gestures toward Big Reveals that are yet to come.

That said, I do have theories.

Luna and Faustina are similar-looking enough that I think they have to be related in some way. They could be normal relatives, one could have been artificially made in the image of the other, or it could be something even weirder that I haven't thought of yet, but there's no way their origins aren't connected somehow.

I know some people theorize they're twins, but that would require discounting all of the fairytale version of Luna's story, so I'm not ready to commit to that one quite yet. Faustina is supposed to be the first ever crimson vampire, created during or right after Babel, while Luna was supposedly born under a blue moon and born late enough that there were other vampires around to resent and reject them. Some of that mythos could be wrong! I'm absolutely not trusting that the fairy tale is telling the truth about Luna (or Faustina). But it's enough for now to make me suspect that their connection is something more complex than their simply being twins and/or both born from Babel.

Meanwhile, with Teacher, it seems like Mochijun is hinting to us that Teacher took Luna's left eye. Teacher has a left eye that we're specifically told is Blue Moon blue, and Luna's left eye is constantly hidden from our view under their hair. We also know from the above "most beautiful creature in the world" line, his involvement with both Misha and Noé/Vanitas, and his shapeshifting into them that Teacher seems to have some kind of fixation on Luna. If that fixation didn't drive him to take their actual left eye, then Mr. Shapeshifter may well be turning his own left eye blue on purpose in Luna's image.

I'm not discounting the possibility that the obvious explanation of "eye theft" could be a red herring, but Teacher's left eye's connection to Luna definitely strikes me as something affected rather than a sign of actual relation to the Blue Moon. After all, in that panel I included above, he discusses the beauty of "Blue" in a way that makes it sound like something external he's fascinated with, rather than something he possesses or is part of.

Overall, all three of these characters are obviously interconnected, and they all have equally mysterious origins, but with the information we have now, it's impossible to solve those mysteries. For now all we can do is theorize and wait to see what future chapters might clarify.

I think I’ve talked so much abt vanitas I spat out like 29489385 words about what I think might happen and what I hope does RIGHT HERE right here I found it but TEE EL DEE AR worst case scenario: vanitas becomes mephiles (I don’t know sonic lore) and goes full evil cackling I’ve been darkness the whoooole tiiime (scarily likely but I want to BELIEVE the themes of kh remain intact about personhood). BEST case scenario to ME he and Ven have to work together to defeat Darkness because vanitas goes thru another self-identity crisis while trapped in (……….???) Sora’s? Ven’s heart? Somewhere? His heart grew too much to be dissolved back into nothing again. And he gets a wallet chain and a spiked collar. My TEMPERED expectations are something like,,, either he’s gone. we’re done with him, he’s dead. OR. He like… shows up as a villain and then either we have to beat him again or he defects at the last minute. There’s so much that has to do with having a will and making choices and friendship and and and AND on to ad infinitum in this video game. I want him here but if he’s gonna have a bad arc I want him gone. However I want him here so bad. And knowing kh none of this will happen he’s gonna like, go on a space adventure with yozora and pleakley or something

People are too nice about vanitas because he’s the outcast emo kid and you all were outcast emo kids but vanitas in the actual game (not like. When you take a blorbo out of the game im of the opinion that you can do whatever you want with him and I do whatever I want all the time. With KHDR all but confirming Vanitas is the combination of the original Darkness that possessed Ven and his natural born darkness when Xehanhort ripped his heart in half Vanitas is technically the longest relationship Ven has ever had. Like no wonder this emo fuck is obsessed with him he literally singled him out as a child and has just been there the whole time even during their 4 years of separation he counted the years and days until they could reunite so he could take his rightful place in Ven's heart and mind. It makes his whole claim that they're brothers and that he's darkness in KH III so much more ominous (classic mobile games adding new context in horrifying ways to the mainline games).

Furthermore when Ven inevitably does regain his full union x memories I want him to have kill bill sirens and pummel Vanitas the minute he sees his smug ass again. Just absolutely beat the shit out of him screaming his anger out like, "YOU MOTHERFUCKER YOU RUINED MY LIFE I WAS 10! I WAS FUCKING 10 AND YOU DESTROYED ANY CHANCE OF ME LIVING A NORMAL LIFE! YOU MAIMED MY HEART NOT ONCE NOT TWICE BUT THREE FUCKING TIMES LEAVE ME ALONE ALREADY I'M NOT YOUR PUPPET YOU CAN PLAY WITH UNTIL I BREAK AGAIN!"

And Vanitas just does not understand why Ven isn't all for their extremely destructive co-dependent relationship since he essentially gave Ven what he wanted but he also immediately took it away after threatening the union leaders. And Ven is literally all he has. If he doesn't have Ven he has nothing and if Vanitas is around Ven's life will only become worse.

I have to rewatch all the BBS and KH III Ven and Van scenes again with this knowledge because Vanitas' actions make so much more sense that he sees Ven as a thing he owns and can do whatever to since he's had him since he was a child.

I'm far from an expert on Vanitas and his whole deal (because he honestly never really caught my attention that much) but I am really looking forward to how the games will address the events of union x in relation to him.

Like, is he even aware that he also comes from ancient darkness, and not just Ventus? If he does, is it a "I fully remember all of these events happening and I take all responsibility for them" awareness or a more subconscious kind? He feels things and remembers bits and pieces and he's not really sure why.

Going from there, how much of union x in general does he remember? Since he comes from both Ventus and the ancient darkness, would he get memories from both sides? Maybe, he only has memories from Ventus's perspective and because of that has never even stopped to consider that he might -even partially- come from someone else? Of course this is all hypothetical, Vanitas is an enigma of a character.

Old man Xehanort must've just been like "yeah you come from Ventus" and Vanitas was like "ok 👍 why do my memories hurt so much to think about"

On an end note, I hope Ventus does lose it a bit. You don't just... remember events like That (accidentally killing someone, the end of the actual literal world, etc.) and not collapse under the weight of it all.

Ok—I need help with this before I go insane.

Around a year ago I read a really good post about a Vanitas and Noè character break down. It talked about how Vanitas really focused on his body and not wanting to be a vampire because of him being human and stuff. And for Noe it was different because, and this is fuzzy, he was more mindful and in the past. I really only remember Vanitas’s part about how his body is really important to him and it attributes to his mentality. This explanation really sucks.

But I can’t find it. I don’t remember who made it and I can’t find in in my liked posts. Scrolling would take forever and it might not even be there.

Could someone try and find the post?? I am going insane I need to read it again.

Bro... what if noe was never actually injured when he got scooped up by the teacher...

Like what if the traffickers tied up one of his eyes so he had little to no chance of manipulating the formula to escape or worst 😭

Like we know the weight eyes have on vampires, as seen by the churchs methods and ruthvens whole shtick; the traffickers could have harmed him to hamdicap him somewhat, but given he 1) hasnt lost his eye, and 2) the traffickers likely knew his value, its highly unlikely they would permanently disfigure/harm him

My one counterpoint to the theory of him not being injured at all is that we do see Noé keep the bandages on for a while after he first starts staying at Teacher's, and I can't think of a reason why Teacher wouldn't have removed them pretty quickly if Noé weren't hurt.

The panel with Domi and Louis is from pretty soon after Teacher brings Noé home, but the other scene shows Noé in a different outfit, and Teacher is back from wherever he disappeared to after dropping Noé off, so I think it must be set at least a day or two later. That's plenty of time for Noé to take off the bandages, so why not do so if he isn't hurt?

However, you do raise a really good point about how removing the use of one eye is an effective way to disable a vampire, since it interferes with their ability to manipulate the world formula. Not wanting to "damage the merchandise" aside, if the traffickers weren't otherwise prepared to wrangle a vampire child, temporarily injuring one of Noé's eyes could have been a pretty effective way to make sure he didn't make too much trouble while in their custody.

Based on present day Noé's seemingly functional eyesight, we know that, like you said, whatever happened to him probably didn't cause significant permanent damage. That wouldn't have been wise on the kidnappers' part, and even if Noé never talked about it, I feel like we would have seen evidence by now if he had damaged vision in one eye. But a temporary injury that the traffickers knew he'd heal from eventually? It's cruel, but it's not a bad idea.

The Case Study of Vanitas - The MC might be in love with a girl, but there's no denying that there's a lot of queer tension between the two male leads. There's also a canonically bisexual girl.
