I know a movie only has so much time, and Hiccup is a very forgiving person, and he was caught up in the excitement, But I'm just saying if there was a post-httyd2 show there would be a lot more discussion about how he feels about Valka effectively abandoning him

I wish we were able to see more of the fallout of Valka leaving Hiccup and Stoick. And if Stoick had survived, I feel like that would have complicated things more. I mean, on the one hand, Valka was so much happier living with dragons than living on Berk, but on the other, she left Stoick to raise Hiccup alone (+Gobber lol)

I know that if I were Hiccup I would feel pretty hurt that she was able to make the decision to stay away and stick to it (and worry a bit that something might send her away again) and now I really just need a fic about Hiccup and Valka having a conversation in the aftermath of HTTYD 2 and dealing w Stoick’s death

I wanted to do something to kind of say goodbye to httyd, now that I've finally finished Race to the Edge and thus watched every installation of the franchise (excluding comics, books, and spinoffs) and it just so happened that Hiccup's birthday was coming up, so I started this big illustration featuring Everyone! Then I lost my tablet pen and couldn't finish it in time :( But I still wanted to post something, so here's a closeup of the sketch.

Got high and watched How To Train Your Dragon last night and for some reason it was only then when I realized how heartbreaking Stoick’s line “With you doing so well in the ring... We finally have something to talk about” is 

Like Stoick wants to connect with Hiccup. He’s tried so hard: taking him fishing, teaching him how to take down a dragon, even just living in the same house as his son, but they’re so vastly different that they can’t even hold a conversation. Until he hears about Hiccup’s successes in dragon training. And he’s so excited. He can finally connect with his son! But that is such new territory that Hiccup feels awkward and doesn’t answer. And Stoick realizes that even now, he doesn’t have and may never have the son he’s always wanted. So he tries one last thing: Giving Hiccup one last reminder of his mother. The only thing they have in common. And even that fails.

Headcanon (kinda)

Hiccup being allergic to dragon root. Not like it’s going to kill him but it’ll make him terribly ill.

This doesn’t help the roomers that he’s not human. The twins started it and hiccup being himself doesn’t help and doesn’t know.

Also when his mom returnes she also has the same reaction to dragon root

And people just go. “Ah yeah stoic and his half feral, vigilante, fae wife and their son who definitely took after mom.”

Does this make any sense?

Thinking about Gobber and how he heard Hiccup say “I just want to be one of you guys” and then immediately went out and did something to give him the chance to try and be like them by convincing Stoick to put him in dragon training. The way Gobber looks out and cares for Hiccup is something so special to me.
