I've been asking Allah عز وجل for righteous companions for such a long time now... and not once did I ever expect that du'a to be answered in the form of colleagues. Allahu Akbar, truly.
It is so mind boggling and heart warming at the same time, how unexpectedly and strangely Allah answers our prayers ❤️

Women Scholars in Islam
A couple of months ago when I was distributing away books in Indonesia on behalf of my University, I got to meet some amazing people and teachers and exchange some thoughts and words. One of the teachers I met was Ustadh al Baidawi who teaches at an institution where they've both male and female students. I asked him if the boys study well or the girls. He began laughing and said, “Of course it's the girls!!”
We bought laughed in mutual agreement because that's one undeniable truth.
It's our society where for some reasons we've  have come to believe that only men can become learned scholars of this Ummah.
There can be and have been Women Scholars in Islam. In fact the women went an extra mile in not just becoming great scholars themselves but they went on to give birth to, groom, nurture and guide the lil kids who became amongst the greatest scholars of Islam.
The story and legacy of Imam Ash Shafiee might be known to us but how many are aware that it was his mother who prepared him to travel to Madinah to meet Imam Malik and seek knowledge from him. She taught him the basics incase Imam Malik questions him, he should be able to reply. Imam Malik was known for his rigid nature and Ash Shafiee was a lil boy. He didn't accept Ash Shafiee as a student at first but when he tested Ash Shafiee, he accepted him and would make Ash Shafiee sit close to him. This was the wonder of the mother of Idris Ash Shafiee that turned him into whom the world remembers as 'Imam Ash Shafiee'.
The story and legacy of Imam al Bukhari might be known to us but how many are aware of his mother's tireless efforts and sleepless nights to groom her son Ismaeel al Bukhari into Imam al Bukhari whom the Ummah refers to as 'The leader of the believers in Hadith'.
The story of Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal and his legacy might be known to us but how many are aware of his mother who'd wake up in the cold chilling nights to warm up the water for Ahmed so that he does Wudhu for Fajr and sit in the gatherings of his teachers and turn into whom the world shall remember as 'Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal' who stood in the face of the tyrants all alone so that Islam wouldn't be altered.
The legacy of Sufyan ath Thawree might be known to those who are fond of reading Ahadith but how many are aware that it was his mother who encouraged him to gain knowledge by saying, “My beloved son! Focus on learning knowledge for I shall support you by weaving clothes.” Today Imam Sufyan ath Thawree is considered amongst the most authentic scholars of Hadeeth.

21 March 23
Chaos, chaotic, that's how my life has been lately. Tremendous headache, mental instability, pains, and life. Those are all the words I would choose to describe today as a normal day in my life.
While I'm drowning in my head, something happened today. It was as if someone has kept their hand on my head, telling me that it's okay, you are going to be okay.
Coincidentally had the last class of this semester with one of my lecturer. She counselled everyone in the class regarding studies, goals and aspects, life in general as this was one of our last class with her. Felt like every word was meant to reach me. As if someone is guiding me to do better in life, to find my purpose and be a better version of myself.
She is one of the very few people I got deeply inspired by. People like her are hard to find, she is rare and beautiful, strong and determined, courageous and bold, these words may describe her to an extent, words might also fall short to describe her. She's a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a teacher, a friend and above all I bet she's an amazing human.
My mum used to tell me that a teacher(Ustadh) comes after your parents, parents may raise you up and give you manners but a teacher gives you education so carry respect for them in your heart. Lecturers indeed are worthy of respect, every single one of them deserves dignitary respect. She indeed does!
In her conversation with the class today she addressed herself as ''I'm guiding you as a mother figure'', it hit hard and I couldn't agree more.
She was also one of the very few people being genuinely concerned upon getting to know my condition. I was almost teary eyed when she went enthrallingly concerned about my health. While avoiding eye contact with her, subconsciously, I kept staring at the floor while she kept talking to me, gulped back the lump in my throat and gathered the courage to smile it off.
She asked me a question that day, "where do you wanna see yourself in 10 years? Do you want to be dependent on others? or willing to be courageous enough to stand and fight for your independence and success?". This question, along with the person who asked it, will forever be etched in my memory.
During a chaotic start to the day in my head, her counselling came to the rescue and became my peace amidst chaos.
I might write down all the things she told that made an impact on me, but let's save it for another day. Um maybe not, I wanna write it all down now, who knows tomorrow may come or not. That's the exact thing she told in class today 'live your life today like there's no tomorrow'. Finding the purpose in life, she gave us some reality checks that indeed were true.
Through her experience she gathered every piece of advice she thought was relevant for us in this stage of our life. It truly helped me and I hope it was helpful and impactful to many of my classmates as well.
I hope her kids realises her worth when they emerge into beautiful young adults. I hope she knows how precious she is. I hope she knows her words and advices and life lessons do convey alot more than just words. Her words gave me hope. I hope her life be filled with peace, love and light today and always. I hope and pray that she continues to inspire many more jumbled, confused, caged, impound and chaotic minds like mine.
I hope she knows her impact on other people is bigger than she may think. Someone still giggles when they think of the funny thing she said. Someone silently admires her. The advices she gives has made a difference for people. The love and support she have offered others has made someone's day. Her input and opinions have made someone think twice. She's not insignificant and forgotten. Her existence makes a positive difference, and I hope she knows that.
University life is going to come to an end but her teachings are going to stay with me for the rest of my life.

■ The Importance of a Spiritual Guide (Murshid) on the Path to Allah:
Sufis and Arifeen (gnostics) believe that a Spiritual student (i.e Salik, Talib-e-Haq, Talib-e-Maula, Seeker of Allah) must have a shaykh (Murshid, Ustadh, Mentor, Teacher) to lead him in his (Spiritual) progress (of Sulook, Raah-e-Haq, Spirituality) along a safe path amid worlds ofdesolate roads. I had two guides (Shaykhs) as a help to me at all stages... Wherever I stumbled, encountered a difficulty, or ran into a barrier, wherever a thorny or inscrutable matter arose, they intervened immediately and said:
"Keep going until you reach the end".
(Ref: Abu Rumman, Mohammed Sulaiman Mystiries of the Sufi Path: The Sufi Community in Jordan and Its Zawiyas, Hadras and Orders. Translated by William Ward)

Shout out to my Arabic teacher that looked at us yesterday mid-lesson and said, "I'm worried. You all look exhausted and depressed."
Of course we were all like, "Oh yeah we're dead inside, you haven't noticed?"
And he snapped shut the textbook, threw up his hands and said, "That's not healthy! No more vocab! Time for dancing!"
And he taught us a dance from Iraq and we danced instead of doing vocab. We didn't stop dancing until he saw all of us laughing and was satisfied that we were all feeling better. It was perhaps the coolest, most kind-hearted thing I've ever seen a college instructor do.
EDIT:
YOU GUYS MADE THIS POST ESCAPE THE TUMBLR. NOW I HAVE TO EXPLAIN TO MY ARABIC TEACHER THAT HE'S INTERNET FAMOUS.
EDIT AGAIN:
It found its way to Facebook and someone tagged me so I gave up and just tagged him.
Tumblr media
YET ANOTHER EDIT:
Apparently he's chill with it.

If you want to start learning your religion, and you don’t know where or how to start, then I recommend Ustadh AbdulRahmaan Hassan’s classes.
(X) is his YouTube channel.
He goes through classical books (some that haven’t ever been explained in English and made public) and covers Aqidah, Fiqh, Hadith, Tafseer and even Arabic from baby steps and it’s easy to follow up.
May Allaah bless him and reward him for his efforts without measure and allow us to benefit from him.

Assalamualaikum. I hope you're well.
You said to read tafsir As-Sa’di but people around me said that “don't read the tafsirs by yourself (without an Ustadh, teacher), you may interpret it differently”. What do you say about this? Like those are the books of interpretation still.
وعليكم السلام
and hope you too
No, this is a mistake, I recommend this tafsir because it is easy and the beginner can understand it, and you did not find a teacher. Would you leave the understanding of the Quran?

is arabic hard to learn?
If you have the right teacher, then no.
Wallahi, in the last 5 years, not once did I feel that "omg this is so hard I can't do it" Alhamdulillah. Ustadh has always tried his best to make things as easy for us as possible. He made tables and charts and separate sheets from matnul ajurrumiyyah (grammar book) for us so it'd be easier for us to understand, and the way he taught us conjugation proved to be helpful too. He always prefers teaching arabic through arabic instead of through translations, and in the first few semesters we learned through conversations (we did al 'arabiyyatu lin-naashi'een book). This is honestly one of the best methods to learn a new language. Ustadh always tells us that for conjugation, memorizing the patterns first and understanding the meaning later makes it easier to grasp it, while for grammar it's imperative to understand the grammatical rules and their applications first before memorizing definitions/texts. Same for balaghah. And this is true, at least for me.
I just have so much love and respect for my ustadh, all the credit for all my progress goes to him, may Allah bless him.
And honestly, when you make up your mind, have the correct niyyah, and are willing to put in effort, bi idhnillah it will all become easy for you. The right mindset, along with persistence is important.

❝One of things that one of my teachers taught me that was very helpful for me, was to take a minute as soon as you’re done making dua, and start to think about everything else that Allah has done for you.

My teacher said to me: Whenever you make dua and you doubt, just look around you. Even the faculty of the mind that you’re using to doubt is a privilege, is a blessing, that shows you that Allah has your back. The fact that I can even think ”Is Allah going to give it to me?”, is a blessing that shows you that you’ve been taken care of.❞
