The Last Ship (William Brinkley) "The Last Ship is a 1988 post-apocalyptic novel by William Brinkley about the fictional USS Nathan James (DDG-80), a United States Navy ship that is seemingly the only survivor of a nuclear war between the Soviet Union and the United States. The crew are searching for a safe haven after the world is destroyed by a nuclear war. They find some scattered groups of survivors in the western Mediterranean, but it's clear that they won't last long. Every other place the ship visits is completely devoid of human life even when there is no evidence of nuclear strikes, implying that they were depopulated by fallout."
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (Philip K. Dick) "In the distant future, nuclear war has destroyed nearly all life on Earth. Almost all animals are extinct, and only a fraction of the human race remains on Earth. Those left behind are either unwilling to leave, or are "specials" (called "chickenheads" or, in severe cases of mental damage, "antheads"), who are ineligible to leave due to overexposure to fallout. The people on Earth give their lives meaning by taking care of the last animals that are left on planet. As a proof of their empathy and humanity, those who can't afford a real animal inevitably end up buying an electric model instead; it's considered antisocial, if not downright sinful, to not have an animal to show the neighbours.
Most of humanity has emigrated throughout the solar system, rebuilding civilisation along with their organic android slaves ("andys") to do the hard labour. Androids have advanced to the point where they look completely human inside and out, but exhibit certain psychological differences and are not officially recognised as alive. Naturally, there are some androids who try to flee from a life of slavery and pass as human on Earth.
But being non-human, the androids are excluded from the experience of "Mercerism", a religion based around respect for all life, and the shared empathy of all the human race. People can connect together using "empathy boxes", bonding over the shared visions of the Messiah figure Wilbur Mercer. Most of humanity on Earth follows Mercerism, but the religion is ridiculed by famed comedian Buster Friendly, whose shows on TV and radio "Buster Friendly and His Friendly Friends" broadcast 23 hours a day each and who seems determined to bring Mercerism down for good.
Rick Deckard is a bounty hunter working for the San Francisco police department. He's assigned to hunt down and "retire" six Nexus-6 androids who have escaped from Mars, after the previous man on the case was left critically injured. His task is complicated when Deckard meets Rachael Rosen, a beautiful young woman associated with the leading android manufacturing company, and he begins to question the morality of his job. Deckard's life isn't going quite the way he wanted: he's stuck on earth, his wife has discarded artificial moods in favor of actual depression, and his sheep is electric.
Meanwhile, John R. Isidore — a chickenhead who lives alone in a decaying apartment building — finds that somebody else is now living in another apartment. It's a beautiful young woman named Pris Stratton, who calls herself "Rachael Rosen", then abruptly changes her story. She is cold and dismissive towards him at first, but later appeals to him for help: she has friends who have to come and hide out with her, because there's a bounty hunter trying to kill them. J.R. Isidore, who has never had a friend, is eager to help…"

SHTF: Beware of the Trojan Horse
This post came to mind when I started re-watching "The Last Ship" television series. "The Last Ship is an American action-drama television series, loosely based on the 1988 novel of the same name by William Brinkley. The series premiered on TNT on June 22, 2014, and concluded after five seasons on November 11, 2018.
After a global viral pandemic wipes out over 80% of the world's population, the 218-person crew of an unaffected U.S. Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, the fictional USS Nathan James (DDG-151), must try to find a cure and save humanity." [WikiPedia]
In the last Episode [10] of Season 1, the ship and millions of displaced and ravaged people flock to "Olympia" (Baltimore, MD), lured by the promises of a vaccine and sanctuary. Little do they initially know is that the "vaccine" kills and the dead bodies are used to fuel Baltimore's power requirements. Sound a little familiar?
This is an example of why it is so important to be prepare and self-sufficient. Those who are not prepared or those who will take advantage of the unprepared (unarmed and helpless) will use any means necessary to get what they need by coercion or force.
When the SHTF, not all will be benevolent. Government may be the worst of all but many will take advantage of the situation to get what they want. Beware of those who promise the world but want MUCH more in return; the wolves in sheep clothing. Their inviting, and kind, actions may not be so beneficial to you.
Beware of Greeks bearing gifts. Don't be one of the unarmed and helpless.

The Last Ship

From Skull Island to Godzilla vs. Kong: A Complete MonsterVerse Timeline
https://ift.tt/3wfhCfO
This feature contains Godzilla vs. Kong spoilers. Read our spoiler-free review here.
Despite existing for only four movies, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse has become one of the densest and most colorful cinematic universes. It may not be as long (or smoothly executed) as Marvel Studios’ MCU, or as high-minded as WB’s own superhero stable, the DCEU, but the MonsterVerse has successfully crafted an interconnected world where Titans rule over all. The best we humans can do is make peace with that hard truth.
In this strange, fearful vision of a primal world, enormous behemoths the size of mountains are just another force of nature coming for you–and one that’s been here since the beginning. Below is a MonsterVerse timeline to show just how long that’s been the case.
More Than 10,000 Years Ago
While there are no exact dates for its rise and fall, below the Atlantic seafloor is a collapsed city with architecture reminiscent of ancient Egypt and Rome. We’re also told this civilization is “far older.” Ancient Egyptian civilization dates back to roughly 5,000 years ago, and the oldest city-state civilization is about 8,500 years old. But this a lost world has seniority over all, complete with its throne room for King Kong at the center of the Earth. (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong).
Around 4,500 Years Ago
An extraterrestrial kaiju who humans would name King Ghidorah falls to Earth and does battle with Godzilla. Afterward the alien Titan is trapped in the ice of Antarctica. Multiple civilizations record fragments of their epic duel, including Egyptians around the time the Pyramids of Giza were built. (Godzilla: King of the Monsters)
Early 1940s
The USS Lawton is sunk by an unnamed kaiju, presumably during World War II. The events are covered up by the American government, but lone survivor Bill Randa becomes obsessed with chasing hidden monsters. (Kong: Skull Island)
1944
U.S. Army pilot Hank Marlow and Japanese pilot Gunpei Ikari crash land onto Skull Island. Their war ends the moment both men meet King Kong. (Kong Skull: Island)
1945
The U.S. drops nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, ending World War II and ushering in the atomic age. Dr. Ishiro Serizawa’s father is killed in the Hiroshima blast, with his watch frozen at 8:16 A.M. (Godzilla)
1946
U.S. President Harry Truman secretly begins funding a new government program to monitor unidentified creatures: Monarch. (Kong: Skull Island)
1954
The USS Nautilus (named after 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea) becomes the first nuclear-powered submarine and dives to new depths in the Pacific Ocean, awakening the kaiju we call Godzilla. (Godzilla)
The U.S. military’s Operation Castle is revealed in the press to be a series of nuclear tests–beginning with Castle Bravo detonating the first thermonuclear weapon on Bikini Atoll. But in reality, this is a covert operation to kill Godzilla. The fallout from the blast on Bikini Atoll poisons a Japanese fishing vessel, killing one of the crew. (Godzilla)
Mid-Late 1950s
The U.S. government continues to “test” hydrogen bombs in the Pacific with the hope of killing Godzilla. Monarch becomes a multinational coalition with the objective to discover, monitor, and ideally kill giant monsters. They rename these creatures “Titans.” (Godzilla)
1973
Bill Randa leads a Monarch expedition with a U.S. Army escort to the mysterious Skull Island during the Vietnam War. They discover the great ape Kong and other Titans named Skullcrawlers. Most of the party, including Randa, are killed. But Hank Marlow is rescued 29 years after his plane crash. (Kong: Skull Island)
1999
An industrial strip mining operation in the Philippines accidentally discovers Titans—later dubbed MUTOs (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms)—when a cavern floor collapses. One MUTO escapes. (Godzilla)
The free male MUTO latches itself onto a nuclear power plant’s reactor in Janjira, Japan, triggering a barely contained meltdown. Five employees are killed, and Monarch covers up that the MUTO has permanently lodged itself to the reactor. It’s feeding. (Godzilla)

Dr. Nathan Lind’s older brother leads the first attempt to track a path from Antarctica to the Hollow Earth—a journey to the center of the Earth. The entire party dies upon discovering a gravitational inversion. (Godzilla vs. Kong)
2014
The MUTO in Janjira, Japan finishes feeding and attacks Honolulu, Hawaii. This catches the attention of the long unseen Godzilla. Titans become public knowledge. (Godzilla)
The thought-to-be dormant female MUTO awakens in the U.S. Energy Department’s nuclear disposal site in Nevada. It destroys Las Vegas and then draws the male MUTO and Godzilla to San Francisco. The lizard kills both MUTOs in an epic brawl. (Godzilla)
Monarch scientists Dr. Mark Russell and and Dr. Emma Russell lose their son in the devastation wreaked on San Francisco. (Godzilla: King of the Monsters)
2016
Mark and Emma Russell separate, and Emma begins developing the Orca, a device to communicate with Titans. (Godzilla: King of the Monsters)
2016-2018
Monarch discovers a Mothra egg, long worshipped by some East Asian communities, in the Yunnan Rainforest, China, as well as a sleeping dinosaur-like creature called “Rodan” in a volcano on the Isla de Mara, Mexico. They also discover “Monster Zero” (Ghidorah) in the Antarctic ice. Fourteen other Titans are likewise covered. Monarch returns to Skull Island. (Godzilla: King of the Monsters)

Dr. Ishiro Serizawa sacrifices himself to supercharge Godzilla with a nuclear bomb, and the big guy kills Ghidorah by essentially nuking Boston. All monsters now bow to Godzilla. (Godzilla: King of the Monsters)
Positive effects of the Titans’ rampage justify (to a precious few) Russell’s actions, including rainforests blossoming in the Sahara and ice sheets refreezing where monsters now trod. Another Mothra egg is discovered.
Seismic disturbances on Skull Island lead Monarch to discover Godzilla and Kong cave drawings beneath the island, suggesting rivalry. Soon perpetual storms kill almost all inhabitants and Titans. (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong)
2020
Apex Cybernetics CEO Walter Simmons acquires the lone remaining Ghidorah skull and incorporates it into his developing Titan-killer, Mechagodzilla. (Godzilla vs. Kong)

Dr. Nathan Lind and Dr. Ilene Andrews lead an expedition to the center of the Hollow Earth with King Kong as their guide. They discover an ancient world in Hollow Earth, complete with dinosaurs, a new nuclear power source, and a throne room for Kong. But by moving Kong off Skull Island they anger Godzilla. (Godzilla vs. Kong)
Godzilla begins attacking Apex facilities, sensing Mechagodzilla’s threat. Mechagodzilla becomes sentient and kills its creators. The machine is ultimately destroyed in the ruins of Hong Kong by new BFFs Godzilla and King Kong. (Godzilla vs. Kong)

“THE VIRUS ISN’T THE ONLY ENEMY”
In the wake of corona-virus, I’m pretty sure people are starting to watch films associating with virus such as Outbreak (1995) and more.
So if you’re looking for another one to watch I’d recommend The Last Ship (2014). It’s like Outbreak (1995) meets Crimson Tide (1995) and a touch of Tom Clancy’s Division (2013). An underrated series for sure.
After a global viral pandemic wipes out over 80% of the world’s population, a lone U.S. Navy Destroyer, USS Nathan James is tasked to find a cure and save what remains of humanity with the help of a scientist (Rhona Mitra).
The sea is about the only safe place from the virus for medical research in finding a cure, or so they thought. Following the collapse of world governments and infrastructures, massive riots and outbreaks, the crew of USS Nathan James find themselves sailing into a whole new world of hostile survivors who would stop at nothing to get their hands on the scientist whom they supposedly believe to have found the cure.  The series spans over five seasons. The first season focus on the crew protecting the scientist as they encounter survivors and warlords along the way as they make several stops at ports for supplies and the dilemma they encounter in doing what is right and what is needed.
The second season focus on the crew’s challenges in returning home with the cure only to find that their homes have turned into a battlefield between the strong and weak, and horrifying truths about the fate of their families left behind on their mission at sea. The third season focus on the aftermath of the outbreak and the country rebuilding itself as it tries to help other countries across the globe in delivering the cure but only to find certain countries hoarding the cures for themselves without distributing it to their neighboring countries. The fourth season, well, to me, it’s the worst season of the series as I feel that the story is weak and less intriguing as compared to the others, so you might want to watch it for yourself to know what it’s about.  The fifth season, is definitely better than the fourth but not as good as the first three. This season focus on South American cartels trying to unify South America under a single dictatorship and waged war against the new United States of America whom they see as a threat to their unification. What’s interesting about the series is that it deals with moral dilemma issues in deciding between what is right and wrong, between doing things by the books and doing things using your instincts, the character developments of the crew from the first season till the last, and of course, the action scenes. Surprisingly, it’s directed by Michael Bay, the man responsible for destroying the Transformers franchise. Now although people only know him for that disaster, he’s actually done a decent military film, The Rock (1996) which led to me believe that he should stick in making military films because it’s actually good!

OOC Questions for Multiple Characters
1. Who has been your favorite muse to play?
I can’t really say.  All have had their strong suits.  James has been the one I’ve gotten to use the most, partly because he was the first, and partly because it’s just a lot easier to get RPs for him.  I do like Sadie, though, (@sadiesawyer), which had some roots in an idea I had years before I ever knew what online RPing was, and I like she has more of a different personality from me than James does, which forces me to think differently.  But she is admittedly a little more limited in what I can do with her.  The new one, Joanna (@notsoinnocentlittleangel) is radically different from either of my other two and can be fun to write, but that blog doesn’t have a lot of followers.
3. Are there any particular aus or plots that you’d really like to write?
I’ve gotten to at least start a lot of the ones I like.  But I’d really like some kind of plot (this one particularly works well for James, and possibly Joanna at @notsoinnocentlittleangel) having to lay low and be isolated for a few days, either at home or especially in some cheap motel room somewhere.  Though maybe it’s not a good time to do that one at the moment considering what’s going on in real life…
14. What are five of your favorite ships? (In the rp community or otherwise)
I’m not sure I should be naming ones I’ve RP, as it could get awkward if I leave someone off, so here’s mine outside RP.  I should probably note I’m not a big shipper, certainly not like a lot of people who seem to immediately focus on that no matter what they watch/play/read, but some do click with me.
Five Ships I Like:
Rick/Evy (The Mummy movies)
Nathan Drake/Elena Fisher (Uncharted video games)
John/Abigail Marston (Red Dead Redemption video games)
Jack Bauer/Renee Walker (24)
USS Constitution (A real ship)
20. If you could tell your muse something, what would it be?
“I should probably be sorry for all the things I’ve put you through, but I’d be lying.”

The Last Ship
I want you to imagine yourself
As a soldier or their family on a foreign mission
You have been away on this mission for so many months without knowing exactly what is happening elsewhere in the world
Only for you to “return” and find that everything is “upside-down”!!!
By that, I mean, there is a virus that has “broken loose”
All over the world
Even in your home town where youhave lived all…
