Depends. Like if he's fighting or eating then probably not but if he thinks you might get hurt then he will 100% attempt to catch you. Key word being attempt. Poor boy probably makes the fall 10x worse, like if you trip on one step you're suddenly falling down the entire flight of stairs with a weight on top of you. He will apologise though so at least there's that.

Zoro

He always catches you. Or prevents the fall in the first place. He tells himself it's so you're not unnecessarily out of commission for a fight but really he's a huge softie. Though he always catches you really ungracefully, llike there’s no princess carrying here, he's holding you upside down by the ankle with one hand fr. He scolds you every time too like- "Why do you never watch where you're going" or "Tie your shoes next time idiot", which you should hear as "I can't stand watching you get hurt". Cutie:(

Sanji

Oh you know he does. He lives for romance and what's more romantic than saving your beloved from certain doom (tripping on a rock). Oh he also does it in the most dramatic way possible, he'd rather throw himself to the ground underneath you then let you hit the floor, he's doing twirls, picking you up with one arm, occasionally will throw you in the air first so he can rearrange what he's holding. Menace tbh, like he's just obsessed with teasing you in any way possible.

Usopp

Another one who tries his best…tries🙁. He's always so dramatic about it too, he literally screams your name like you're in a horror movie and everyone is always like "WHAT'S WRONG?!" and Usopps just "Oh they tripped on a step". He either injures one of you in his attempt to catch you OR you both end up in the most compromising positions just as someone walks past . He goes so red trying to explain the situation while also trying to check if youre okay😭.

Franky

Oh every time and it’s smooth as hell every single time. Says super cheesy lines every time like “OWWWW GUESS YOU FELL FOR ME BABE”, and he gets sparkly eyed every time, he loves romance as a genre and finds it superrrrrrrr(😚) cute when something happens that matches a trope he's read. If he didn't catch you he'd probably panic and constantly apologise but just give him a kiss and he'll forget about it soon enough.

Brook

Catches you every time, really gently and really romantically. Instead of just full on catching you, he'll purposefully slow your momentum to minimise injuries in case his attempt at grabbing you fails because then you'd both fall and he'd rather not. Like if you trip into him then he'll pull you both into a delicate spin type of dancing and you're like huh??? He thinks its a really cute trait to be honest but it also makes him really worried about your safety so he likes to keep one hand on you at all times.

Jinbei

Catches you as often as he can, like he won't sprint across the ship to stop you from falling but as long as you're in his reach you will never hit the ground. And he always catches you really gently like you barely feel the impact so sometimes you won't even notice you've tripped until later when you see the scuff on your shoe or something. He really likes holding your hand to make sure you ‘keep your balance’.

Law

He doesn't want to look soft so he tries to force himself not to catch you for just harmless falls...yeah no that doesn't work. As soon as he sees you losing balance you hear that ever familiar room, shambles and then you're in his arms. If it's later in your relationship then he's a menace, he will use this to tease you, like "Oh. Looks like an angel fell into my arms" with this stupid ass smug smirk. He's just really obsessed with you.

Kidd

Catches you most of the time unless it's gonna be really funny. Also he catches you super awkwardly, like he's so obsessed with you but he never knows where to put his hands because hes not used to giving affection so it's like just in the most ungraceful ways. You are literally being held up by his arm around your thigh or something and you're like what the fuck and he's just stood there 🧍🏻‍♀️.

Killer

Prevents the tripping and catches you if necessary. But if you're too clumsy then he just starts getting huffy and hauls you up into his arms so there's no risk of you falling whatsover...and then you bang your head against the ceiling- He probably feels so bad if you get hurt because of him to be honest, he tries so hard to make you happy yk. Anyways at some point he just starts adding cushion to all the potentially harmful areas on the ship so even if you do fall it doesn't hurt.

Monkey D. Luffy

Luffy as a father….whooo boy

Is most likely more of a boy dad than a girl dad, but if he does have daughters, he wouldn’t mind at all.

He will fight your children for food. You can’t tell me he wouldn’t. They may be his kids, but it’s also his food.

He will also forget that he even has kids sometimes. It would go something like this: “Luffy, have you seen the baby?” “Eh? What baby?” “Our baby, Luffy! Your son/daughter!” “Oooooooh, that baby! Yeah I left them with Zoro.” “And where’s Zoro?” “Knowing him, he could be anywhere!”

You don’t leave him alone with the baby after that.

Ability to cheer baby up is a solid 8.5/10. With his Devil Fruit, he can stretch his face into the most absurd expressions and the baby will be laughing and happy in no time flat.

Roronoa Zoro

Just from the way he is with Chopper, you can already tell he’d be a good dad.

He’s definitely very overprotective, no matter what gender your child is, he makes it his life mission to protect them.

Will take regular naps with the baby, and doesn’t mind being woken up by them if they get upset.

Gives them a baby sized sword when they’re old enough to hold it, much to the protests of the more logically minded Straw Hats (i.e. Nami, Jimbe, Robin, Sanji)

However, despite his strong qualities, he is not the worlds most perfect father.

For instance, your kid gets hurt? “Take a swig of this, you’ll forget all about it.” He says, holding out a bottle of sake.

You slap him for that.

Zoro’s ability to cheer baby up varies, I’d say. I’d go with maybe a 6/10

Vinsmoke Sanji

He is a girl dad. But will not be opposed to boys.

He strives to be both the perfect husband, and father, so you better believe that his kids are getting all the love from their dad.

One of your kids is a picky eater? He will figure out just what they like and make it exactly how they want it. He’ll even let them come into the kitchen with him and show him exactly how they want it.

Will not hesitate to spoil your children rotten. You practically have to reign him in every time he sees something he thinks they would like. And then you have to listen to the “But Y/n-chan! Think of how happy they would be!”

Just say no. He will charm you into bankruptcy if you don’t.

Will plan elaborate tea parties with his child, and will also get you to participate.

Will definitely teach the baby to hate Zoro from an early age, so you know exactly who to blame when your child points at said male and babbles “Marimo!”

Sanji has a proud Papa moment, before you whack him on the head.

Ability to cheer baby up is a 7.5/10. With the way he cooks, no one can stay upset for too long.

God Ussop

You’d better believe that your kids are getting the best story times ever with Usopp as their dad. He will spin the best stories, do all the voices, and even include his kids in the story.

At lease one of his kids gets his nose. The genetics are too strong.

He’s the best at doing his kids hair. No matter how long it may take, he will sit there and figure it out.

He has taught his children his “fight or flight” way of life, and they secretly judge him for it.

Like Zoro, gives them a baby sized slingshot, and everyone blames him once your child starts shooting at people.

His ability to cheer baby up is 4/10. In a stressful situation, Usopp has been known to blow things out of proportion, so that combined with an upset baby doesn’t really do anything good.

Just a general headcannon that back on Drum Island, Chopper used to not like the taste of medecine. So what did Dr. Kureha do? She falvored it. So even to this, day, Chopper flavors all the medicine he gives the crew.

Luffy

Sore throat and scratchy voice

Feels “icky”

Tries to drink the entire bottle of medicine

Cold flashes, shivering under a blanket

Complains/whines a lottttt, OR he passes out alseep

My guess is that he goes between being drained of any and all energy and just feels gross, or he hates just laying around and whines, no in between

Zoro

If you know what a barking cough is, this made is the DEFINITION

Coughs up a lung every 5 minutes

Hates feeling “weak”

Sanji laughs at his congested, nasaly voice, but still makes him soup

Tries to still train, but Chopper throws hands and gets really, REALLY upset, so he stops

Chopper force feeds Zoro strawberry flavored cough syrup.....

Sleeps it off

Naps when Zoro is sick are like death

Has to breathe thorough his mouth

Nami

Takes full advantage of Sanji’s doting

Drinks a lot of tangarine tea with lots of honey

Probably is still working on her maps in bed

ONLY trusts Robin and maybe Franky with the navigation

Likes to be really warm with a lot of blankets or a big, soft sweater

Usopp

The worst nasal congestion imaginable

Runny, stuffed up nose

Can’t breathe out of his nose

His throat hurts

All of his energy is completely GONE

Gets bad aches in his arms and legs

Sanji - (Sanji dose’t GET sick, but we can imagine)

It is either one of two ways

Either Sanji has that Mom strength where he just pushes through it and carries about his day with a short nap in the middle of the afternoon

Or this man is DOWN for the count

Fever

Alternates between hotflashes, and shivering under a pile of blankets in fetal position

His voice sounds like the 4Kids dub

Either wears gloves while cooking, or washes his hands RAW beforehand to make sure he won’t  get any of the crew sick

If he’s not better in a few days, the crew takes him hostage and forces him to let THEM take care of HIS, which is something he’s not used to, so he probably gets a little emotional (he deserves it)  

Chopper

Awwww, Chopper

If he does get sick, he feels guilty

Poor baby is sniffling, sneezing, coughing

Robin and Sanji dote on him

He knows to drink lots of fluids and try and get a lot of sleep

Recovers somewhat quickly

Robin

Is prety chill, but Chopper dotes on her, and she thinks it’s sweet how worried he is

Reassures him she is fine

Drinks a lot of tea

If it’s really really bad, she’ll get a headache  

Spends a couple days in bed reading and sleeping it off

Franky

.......okay when he coughs, it sounds like there is metal rattling around inside his chest...which there kind of is

But it freaks everyone out, especially Chopper

Actually, Frank dosen’t really get sick

If/when he does, he usually takes a long nap and then a shorter one later, drinks more cola thank usual, and he’s good to go 

Brook

He gets a runny nose

At least he would if he had a nose YOHOHOHOHO (I’m sorry, please forgive me)

I like to think about when Franky, Robin, Usopp, and Zoro were in Wano while the others were doing WCI, waiting for them to return and helping set up the revolution with Kin'emon and Law.

Remember Usopp's disguise-persona Usohachi being an old man with a long white beard who sold random nicknacks and toad oils, and his alibi to his neighbors about having 10 kids? And how he frequently had lunch with the beautiful young aspiring oiran Orobin, and the carpenter Franosuke?

...Do you think anyone thought they were some of his grown-up children?

I just love the play-pretend role reversal. One of Usopp's older neighbors asks him if he's out to lunch with his daughter, and Usopp is allergic to not upping the bit, so he's like "Yes, this is my eldest daughter, Orobi! Isn't she beautiful?? She's going to be the top oiran one day, I tell you!" And he starts gushing about her (making up fake childhood stories but with real affection behind the words, lots of "shes so smart/talented, once she...") and Robin is sitting there, poker face ELITE. She's playing along because it is a decent alibi for why they meet up like this. And its funny. And she likes the compliments.

He'd do the same thing for Franosuke, whether the bit is that he's Usohachi's carpenter son or Orobi's suitor (in a frobin situation). Either way, Usopp would claim Franky "learned everything he knows from me, since he was a little tot," much to Franky's chagrin, but he has to play along or they'll get caught! He'll just give Usopp a noogie about it later. Where Robin is a flawless improv partner, Franky is struggling to play along with all of the embarassing childhood stories Usopp makes up for him while he's not listening, and Franky starts making up embarassing stories about his ""dad"" in return when he runs into one of Usohachi's friends/neighbors. It becomes like a game between them, trying to see who will crack first!

They're taking their Wano duties seriously, of course, but there's nothing wrong with having a little fun while they're at it! And Usopp will take any opportunity to brag and gush about his crewmates.

Mornings on the Sunny

As the night draws to an end and the light of dawn closes in on the Thousand Sunny, the strawhats prepare for yet another day on the open seas.

Sanji is the first one to wake, before the sun rises over the horizon. He makes himself a cup of coffee before getting on with planning the meals of the day, from breakfast to supper and every meal in between. With Luffy on the ship, it’ll be quite many of them. He takes out his little notebook with notes on everyone’s preferences, allergies and needs when it comes to food and diet. He reads through it carefully before planning each dish for each person for the day.

Next to wake is Zoro, who’s also up before the morning light for a workout session before the rest of the crew wakes up. Might be some distractions otherwise. Before heading to the crows nest he walks by the kitchen where the cook is preparing breakfast. “Your shitty pre-workout smoothie is on the table” the cook calls out, his back to the swordsman, concentrated on the delicate tea leaves he’ll use for Nami’s morning tea. “Try not to choke on it”. The swordsman calls back, ”Like I need your stupid drinks to help me”, but he grabs the smoothie anyway and heads out.

When the first rays of sunshine hit the sails of the Sunny, Robin makes her way from the room she shares with Nami over to the kitchen. She didn’t get much sleep this night but it wasn’t unusual. She still felt rested enough to get up and get some studying done before breakfast. In the kitchen, Sanji just finished pouring a cup of coffee. “Good morning, beautiful” he says by way of greeting before handing Robin the cup. “A fresh cup of black of coffee, just the way you like it!” He made it sound simple but she knew the time and care the cook put into making each of his creations. One sip and Robin could taste all the flavor of the freshly ground coffee beans, straight from Jaya Island. Once again she thinks about how lucky she truly is. Robin gives the cook a smile. “You’re too sweet Sanji”, she says and takes the cup with her to the library where she can spend some time with her books.

It’s a while yet before anyone else wakes up. Zoro has finished his workout and is napping in the morning sun up in the crows nest. He did wake up early after, he deserves some rest. Down below, Nami finally appears on deck. She’s still tired, but a walk between the orange trees always helps wake her up in the morning. She makes sure they have enough water and nutrition before heading to the observation deck to check on the weather for the day. It’s always good to be prepared, and she likes giving the weather report over breakfast. On her way, she looks up and sees a pair of feet hanging over the edge of the crows nest. Nami mutters to herself about how she always finds that damn swordsman either sleeping, training or drinking.

Franky may not be the earliest of birds but he rarely stays in bed for long. Once he’s awake, there’s simply too many things to do, too many ideas to realize. Last night he actually fell asleep in his workshop, tinkering with yet another new innovation that would improve the ships defenses. And when he wakes up he goes straight back to work. At least for a few minutes before he realizes that he needs some energy. Franky leaves the workshop and goes to the kitchen, where Sanji is plating up the dinner table for breakfast. The whole room was smelling delicious with different flavors and spices. Franky couldn’t wait too see what the cook had prepared for them this morning. So instead of heading back to the workshop, he grabs a cola from the temporarily unlocked and unchained fridge, and sits down at the table to chat with Sanji while he cries the last of the eggs.

When breakfast is finally ready, Sanji and Franky make rounds on the ship, calling everyone to the kitchen. Jimbei, after having had a long night of steering the Sunny across treacherous waters, had decided to sleep in this morning, but the call of breakfast was enough to wake him from his deep slumber. When he goes out to grab the morning paper, he’s met by Brook, the only other old man in the ship. He’s delighted in the skeletons simple jokes and lightheartedness. Brook himself is overjoyed to have someone onboard who finally appreciates his clever puns. “I can smell the omelettes all the way from here” he says to Jimbei. “Sanji sure is an eggcellent cook!”. They both laugh on their way to the kitchen.

Finally, all the strawhats are gathered over breakfast, loudly chatting to each other, sharing stories, enjoying their personalized food and are having a wonderfully simple morning. Nami shares the weather report and plans on where to sail according to her maps and her log pose compass. Luffy, of course, wants to take the most fun route possible, even though the others know that his definition of “fun” is the equivalent to “dangerous”. Usopp once again tells them all the story of how he single-handedly fought and defeated a giant goldfish with nothing but his slingshot and wits. Franky excitedly shares his new ideas for how to make the Sunny go even faster if he could just adjust the main and foremast. Zoro, with his mouth full, complains about how the shitty food would taste better if he had some sake, to which the cook does not respond well.

After breakfast, everyone sets about with their tasks and doings for the day. While Sanji stays in the kitchen to clean up, Nami and Robin head to the library, where the former will study her maps and the latter will try to decipher yet another ancient text the crew had found on an earlier adventure. Usopp and Franky walk together to where their workshops lie at the stern of the ship, talking excitedly about mechanics and wood properties. Before Jimbei takes his place behind the steering wheel yet again, he takes a quick swim around ship to freshen up and scout the area from under the water. Chopper collects some herbs from the garden he shares with Usopp, and heads down to the sickbay to prepare some medicine and do some research. Robin had recently gifted him a book with rare and peculiar deseases that he had been reading intensely for the last couple of days. Zoro was back on yet another workout session. Can’t lift too little, right? Brook goes back to the boys room to pick up his violin. When he comes back out, he stands on the middle of the deck, between the orange trees, and plays a little tune. It’s a new song today, one he’s been working on for quite a while. It’s calm yet eerie, each note sounding as if the waves had been given a voice to sing with, and they were singing the song of old ancestors, waters that hadn’t been sailed for hundreds of years. The song echoes throughout the whole ship, keeping each of the crew members company while they go on about their day. At the very front of the ship, on top of the lion-shaped figurehead, Luffy has taken up his usual seat. He looks out over the ocean, towards the horizon, as far as his eyes can see. ─ But that doesn't mean that all his demands to keep you in the submarine cause you stress, much less than before, but it persisted in the back of your mind, couldn't he understand you from emo to emo?

─ Luckily, being a student means that most of the time you have to fend for yourself to survive tests, exams, works... without help because good or kind teachers? Nah, that doesn't exist or they're an endangered species, so you pretty much know how to do everything.

Nami says it's to save water (Usopp is one of the only people to point out they're in a boat in the middle of the ocean, water isn't a scarce) but its really because Luffy keeps on almost drowning himself cuz he forgets he can't swim + he will refuse to bathe because he thinks it's boring, by having them all together he no longer thinks it's boring and will excitedly go

On the other hand, the girls do take separate baths/showers and over all there's nothing all that interesting about it

Onto specific character headcannons

-Chopper gets little pool floaties just to be careful

-Despite Brook not really needing to (or at least I assume) he still joins

-Zoro and Sanji are yapping the entire time, they have gotten into fights before and tried to drown each other

-Jimbei is tired and does not want to deal with these children (+ due to him being a fishman I don't think he'd need to join anyway???) So he's the only exception and gets his own bathtime
