Don't forget to hold the Trump administration accountable for negative events occurring during their time in power. Do not let them blame it on Biden, as we all know they will try to do. The next four years will be a result of Trump's actions, not those of his predecessors.
Mark my words; there will be a mess to clean up in 2028. We have to work hard.

Calling it now:
Next Olympics, for shooting, the USA is going to send someone decked out in the most expensive yet impractical get-up (& perhaps cheap cosplay of Optimus Prime or Iron Man) from Silicon Valley. The shooter will be from Maine. They will come dead last, beaten by a woman who was temporarily disqualified for willingly choosing to wear a tank top. There will also be an athlete who will be praised for competing while being blind in one eye, who was beaten by some guy wearing an eye patch. The Maine athlete will not know who their cosplaying as, and everyone will blame that as the reason they lost. Palestine will be free. Stephen King will be there.

Thanks for the fun, Paris
Tumblr media
The two and a half weeks that were the Paris Olympic games are now in the books, it was a great event with a lot of elite athletes competing at the highest level. No matter what your itch is, the olympics will scratch it, I watched everything from table tennis to water polo. Obviously living in the USA, I root for the American athletes to do well but it's fun watching other nations celebrate medals. It's time to reflect on the games, taking a look at what these games will be remembered for as we are on the road to 2028.
Tumblr media
I think we can all agree that the idea of breaking or break dancing being involved in the Olympics was going to be intriguing. I can say that it will be remembered for a while, probably not for the best reasons, it was defined by a woman from Australia earning a zero. I'm sure that you've seen the routine, if not, please check it out. As of right now it seems like breaking will be one and done as it won't be returning for the 2028 games.
Tumblr media
This was a redemption tour for Simone Biles, re-establishing her dominance after a rough performance in Tokyo back in 2020. In Tokyo she pulled out after citing her mental health, she didn't look like her normal self at all. She medaled in Tokyo but you could tell something was off, didn't want to make it seem like she did nothing. In Paris, Simone earned gold medals for the individual all around, team all around and vault. She added a silver medal for floor exercise, 4 total medals with her expressing joy and confidence that seemed to be missing in Tokyo.
Tumblr media
This is 16 year old Quincy Wilson who made his Olympic debut in Paris and earned a gold medal as part of the 4x400 meter relay team. The coolest part of his winning a gold is the fact that he became the youngest ever to win a gold medal, now he becomes someone that I will be looking out for in 2028.
There were many more moments but that's every Olympics, whether it's summer or winter. The 2028 Olympics will be in Los Angeles as was introduced during the closing ceremonies with Tom Cruise lowering in to the arena and taking the flag to LA.
Tumblr media
LA will see the return and introduction of 5 sports that weren't part of the Paris games. Baseball and Softball will be making a return, they were last played back in 2008. Lacrosse and Cricket are also making a return, but they haven't been in the Olympics since 1908 and 1900, respectively. Squash and Flag Football will be brand new to the Olympics. I'm excited to see them all in 2028, are you?
Make sure to follow me both @chompinatthebit and @passionandprecision with my co-host who you can also follow @jorissportsstories. Let me know what you think.
Until next time...

White Collar just hit that perfect spot of almost really good, where they had actors with great chemistry, and a fun set up, but the writers fundamentally misunderstood what's appealing about them, so they just kept fucking it up progressively worse

Dear everyone,
Donald Trump just imposed tariffs. I repeat, he actually imposed them on Canada, Mexico, and China. He set a 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico with the exception of a 10% tax on oil from Canada because we're reliant on it, and a 10% tax for China.
This is not funny. Canada has explicitly promised retaliation in the form of their own tariffs and cutting off electricity supplies to the US.
Anyone who has basic history knowledge knows that tariffs have almost never worked out in history, and when they have it has been in countries with significantly different situations than ours. The US already has diverse industries and a good economy and firm trade established with other countries. This will ruin that.
Trump will not stop here. He's stated that when March comes, he plans to implement tariffs on the EU too. This would mean tariffs are on all major US trade partners in a month.
This will NOT stop trading. It will not lead to the US becoming more self-reliant. We have far too many people and diverse needs to meet them all independently. Trades will keep happening, just at a higher price. Just slower.
This will drive up prices for everyday goods. This will make things more unaffordable. This will achieve no economic goal except to hurt those who are poor and already in the trenches.
Do you know who receives these tariffs, dear citizens? The government. These taxes go straight from your wallet into the government's pocket. Into Trump's bank account, given he's been shown to take government property before.
Trump's right! These tariffs will benefit him. Just him and him alone.

As I start writing this, I still feel the ghost ache of eyes red from crying.
Tonight, France Télévision - the public television company providing some of France's main TV channels - is diffusing, prior to the start of the Paralympic Games in a week, a documentary entitled "À Corps Perdus". This documentary is available as of this morning on the group's online platform. I finished watching this documentary about 20 minutes ago.
I do not cry often. A big part of it is that I've been fortunate enough to live a peaceful, mostly strife-free life. That being said, one of the things that can get me to cry is emotional, impactful writing or cinema.
I cried, watching this documentary, overwhelmed with emotions I'm not sure if I can make sense of. What overwhelmed me, I think, was the sheer beauty of humanity being displayed.
I do not believe in Gods. I've heard that everyone believes in something, that people need something to believe in. I've never really taken the time to think and figure out what, exactly, I do or do not believe in, but I've long had an instinctual answer to the question "what do you believe in?" : humanity. This undefinable quality of humankind that makes us capable of the worst of violences, but most importantly of the best of kindnesses, of the most incredible achievements.
Nothing awes me like the good people are capable of. "Good" seems like too weak a word to express the greatness of what humanity can bring about, but it is the right one. Seeing people come together, keeping a light glowing in the darkest of times, fighting cruelty with the most selfless kindness, claiming triumph over horrors thanks to the dedication of dozens, hundreds, thousands of individuals.
Nothing captures my attention and emotions like a human story.
Nothing overwhelms me like humanity.
I want to give many thanks to everyone who took part in the creation of this documentary, which I hope will play a key role in getting French people excited for the upcoming Games.
To all of the athletes out there taking part in the Paralympic Games in Paris or in future editions, I wish the best of luck, the greatest experience and the most wonderful emotions.
To Oksana Masters (US / Ukraine), Alexis Hanquinquant (France), Anne-Sophie Centis (France), Cédric Nankin (France), Gabriel Araújo (Brasil) and Zakia Khudadadi (Afghanistan / France) : my best wishes to all of you for these Paralympic Games.
Alexis, Anne-Sophie, Cédric, je vous souhaite la plus belle réussite sous les yeux de vos familles et de vos amis, avec le soutien indéfectible du public et de tout le peuple français.
Gabriel, I hope you get to take that photo under the Eiffel Tower.
Oksana, I hope you and your mother have the most wonderful time in Paris.
To everyone around the world, I call onto you to watch the Paralympic Games, which will start on August 28th with the opening ceremony, as much as you are able - even if it is just 30 minutes in total over the 2 week long event. Let us give this event the attention it deserves.
To my fellow French citizens, to our close neighbours from Ireland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Spain - as well as Monaco and Andorra - and to all around the world who are able, I invite you to buy your ticket and come to Paris to cheer on the athletes and witness this event in person.
Many of us, and I am among this group, are or will be busy going back to school or work after summer vacation, giving us less time to pay attention to the Games as we had in August. Let us, to the best of our capacity, support the athletes by paying as much attention to their performances as we are able.
