Three separate unions representing flight attendants at major U.S. airlines are picketing and holding rallies at 30 airports on Tuesday as they push for new contracts and higher wages. The flight attendants are increasingly frustrated that pilots won huge pay raises last year while they continue to work for wages that, in some cases, have not increased in several years. They argue that they have not been rewarded for working through the pandemic and being responsible for the safety of passengers. The unions are calling Tuesday's protests a national day of action. It is not a strike. Federal law makes it difficult for airline unions to conduct legal strikes, which can be delayed or blocked by federal mediators, the president and Congress. Mediators have already turned down one request by flight attendants at American Airlines to begin a countdown to a strike; the union plans to ask again next month.

An American Airlines commercial plane heading to Washington DC from Wichita Kansas collided with a military Blackhawk helicopter causing the plane to crash into the Potomac
Just last week, President Trump FIRED the heads of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Coast Guard, and disbanded the Aviation Security Advisory Committee.
Trump also froze the hiring of Air Traffic Controllers. All flights heading to Reagan National Airport have been diverted and all planes are grounded effective immediately
Devastating.

President Trump has fired the heads of the Transportation Security Administration and Coast Guard before their terms are up and eliminated all the members of a key aviation security advisory group.

Safety and security is very important. Peoples lives are needlessly risked when we take it away. I feel terrible for all the families affected by both crashes.

What we know so far
• No survivors: President Donald Trump said there were no survivors after last night’s midair collision between an American Airlines regional jet and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter in the Washington, DC, area — the deadliest since 2001. Trump also, without evidence, placed blame on Democratic policies.

Hospitals in the city report at least 20 victims have been treated for injuries from the crash, which caused an explosion and set several homes ablaze near the Roosevelt Mall in the area of Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue.

Musk was angry Michael Whitaker had grounded his unsafe Space X rockets and correctly ordered an investigation after this happened:
Remember that time Reagan fired all the experienced Air traffic controllers and hired scabs and the rate of plane crashes went up for years?

Reports are coming in of a midair collision over Reagan national airport in Washington DC between a D60 Pavehawk military helicopter and an American Airlines flight inbound from wichita. Both aircraft have crashed into the Potomac river. It is being said that the American flight was carrying 64 passengers and crew, and that the D60 was carrying 3 service members. As of now, all are believed deceased. This is just days after Donald trump fired the heads of staff at TSA, and disbanded the Aviation Security Advisory Committee, or ASAC. It is because of the defunding of critical government services like this by trump that more accidents like this will continue to happen. My heart is with the families of all who are likely dead, and I am both mournful and fascinated to see what the subsequent investigation reveals.

You know, in the grand scheme of things, an airline leaving a social network is not headline breaking news piece, but yeah, the announcement is funny

Anyone knows what this asshole is trying to do? He’s straight up trying to destroy the US from the inside out and trying to get access into the US treasury’s payment system. Pressuring the previous FAA director to resign after the FAA found that spacex was not prioritising safety enough, then now with all the guardrails removed or fired suddenly a Blackhawk slams into a plane and kills everyone on board? And now he’s saying he wants to work with Boeing to produce the new air force one, what can go wrong? Two companies famous for their products malfunctioning in fatal ways. And he’s getting his smelly hands into every government trying to influence them or their alt right population like the AFD. Anyone someone should look into him but they won’t, he’ll personally make sure of that.

Everybody here in the U.S. or even people outside the U.S. who are wondering why there’s so many plane crashes happening right now: Trump put a hiring freeze on air traffic control, fired people who are in charge of helping keep airlines safe (the head of the TSA), and disbanded an aviation safety committee, the head of the FAA was all but forced out, all the while other republicans are saying that TSA should be disbanded and airline security should be left in the hands of airlines themselves, and now Trump is blaming it on DEI, despite the fact that air traffic control is severely understaffed at the moment. I’m genuinely not sure if this is due to blatant arrogance and ignorance or if they’re playing at some bigger goal - like shutting down airlines due to “safety concerns”, all I can really say right now is if you can get out, do so, and if you can’t, try.

I'm angry that the aircraft collision in Washington DC tonight happened. That helicopter should not have been patrolling at that height in front of that airport at that time of day. The plane needed the shorter runway and ATC gave it to them. That was probably what turned this oversight by the damn FAA into a disaster. This whole thing was preventable if people actually gave a crap about making sure accidents like this are not remotely possible to begin with.
