The city holds its memories in shadows and echoes. Footsteps fade into silence, whispers of a time before the fog. But even as the darkness lingers, there's a pulse, a quiet heartbeat waiting to be heard.
Sometimes the last glimmers of light seem the brightest. This city knows that even in abandonment, beauty is waiting to reemerge. Every crack holds strength and every ray of light is a reminder of hope.
Even where the city's surface feels scared, the light finds its way through proof that hope is never last.

The Black Cat
A suggestive image that blends architecture and urban life: in a play of light and shadows, a black cat walks along a winding corridor while in the background a solitary figure gazes at the horizon, creating an atmosphere of mystery and contemplation.

An Ode to the City Bus
before i could walk, you carried me
you rocked me through traffic like a cradle, your arms have always felt safe
I have been on many a subway, streetcar, skytrain,
but none can compare to you
you hold me tightly, as if I am a doll in your dollhouse, until I reach my little doll destination, and go about my little doll life
and when I am through with all my little doll errands, I slide back into your familiar seats and allow you to cart me home, watching familiar scenes roll by as if this is a movie I know by heart
headlights flicker past like fireflies through your screens and i count them one by one
when we arrive at my stop, I call my thanks to the driver and navigate the small streets of my neighborhood home, knowing you will be there again every 30 minutes or so between the hours of 6:30a.m. and 10p.m.if I need you
just as you have always been

Frothing fright filled day, a memory astray? Ask the loathing mask, that cries with waving morn, when the sun recalls, this task of dismay.
Oh, no, the sweet lipped rodent, raves with the stone that never softens. Just the enactment of a souring creation, a lie forever and more.
(Street Cafe series, kerzell)

The City That Holds Me The sidewalks I stumble on more than once Make me feel like I am walking home. The place cold enough to die for, Yet I walk towards the next day without freezing. The river that drowns my words, As I wander its same stretch, up and down. My chapels know my favourite corners, Where I light my candles each good Sunday.

Upside Down and Nowhere to Go
Trapped between the sky and streets,
Where echoes fade and silence speaks.
Small-town lights, they flicker dim,
A cage of roads, a world caved in.
The city hums beyond my view,
A promise whispered, never true.
Yet here I stand, both here and not,
An upside-down and tangled thought.
The pavement cracks beneath my feet,
Reflections dance, the past repeats.
Dreams hang heavy in the air,
Yet every step leads nowhere.
I’m caught between, I’m lost in place,
A shadow stuck in time and space.
Yet maybe change is shifting near,
If I break free from all I fear.

Found the pieces of a rabbit (or some other small animal) today
It inspired a strange little free write
**WARNING** Picture below the cut

When the tanner hands you the fawning foot,
will you be lucky to take the hide
or was the rabbit lucky to have died
before a worse mouth could bite?
Pieces strewn across the city.
Skeletons of trees, the grave markers high.
Body bag in the stomach of a kitty.
The urban jungle is the afterlife.
