doors, always doors, you might think there are more fascinating things to photograph. but modern doors in particular are a never-ending source of photographic material in terms of design, materials and colours. and a door is and remains one of the most important elements of a building, even if it usually receives little attention, because without it it would hardly be possible.

türen, immer wieder türen, man könnte denken es gibt faszinierenderes zu fotografieren. aber gerade die türen der moderne sind was design, materialien und farben betrifft eine nicht versiegende quelle von bildmaterial. und eine tür ist und bleibt eines der wichtigsten elemente eines bauwerkes, obwohl meist wenig beachtet, denn ohne sie geht es meist kaum.

completion: 1979

the central campus of the heinrich heine university in düsseldorf is a dream of post-war modern university design. form follows function, with ingenious little details such as heaters under the benches, flower benches in the stairwells, small hidden courtyards and more. my stay was relatively short in the buildings, but one or two longer visits will not be long in coming.

der zentralcampus der heinrich heine universität in düsseldorf ist ein traum der nachkriegsmodernen universitätsgestaltung. form follows function, mit kleinen raffinierten details wie heizkörpern unter den ruhebänken, blumenbänken in den treppenhäusern, kleine versteckte innenhöfe und mehr. mein aufenthalt war zwar relativ kurz in den gebäuden, aber ein oder zwei längere besuche werden nicht lang auf sich warten lassen.
