Update on Haunted by the Opera Ghost

So. I'm still here. Suffering from severe writer's block and an extreme lack of motivation, but still here.

This chapter has consistently kicked my ass for months now. I think I've torn it apart and rewritten it like four times now. Not an easy feat considering that each rendition was over 2,600 words. And with each rewrite, my confidence dwindles and my insecurity over whether or not I should even be doing this grows. This is a pivotal chapter and I feel like I'm in a war with my characters lol. I have this carefully constructed plot with things I can and cannot do in order to progress said plot and stay true to my ending, and my characters are literally FIGHTING me.

That's a thing, right? It's okay. I'm okay.

It hasn't helped that I had surgery to fix a failing knee implant back in May, and the surgery actually made things a shit ton worse. My knee literally disintegrated while they were in there. So guess who now needs a total knee replacement at the ripe age of 40 instead of the partial they originally had done back in 2019? This girl right here. So yeah. Recovery has been a bitch, and the constant pain (and Lupus--FFS I cannot make this shit up. God I've had a fucking hell of a year. Sigh) and not being able to do simple things like laundry, housework, and yard work (seriously, the only thing I have wanted to do this summer is make my backyard look pretty) has brought a good dose of depression along with it. The only solace I've found lately has been playing the new Zelda game and avoiding everything else.

Anyway. This right here is an attempt to pull myself up by my boot straps. I've been writing fairly steadily the last couple of weeks, and while the progress I've made is small, it's still progress. I think I'm finally satisfied with the latest rewrite and have set myself up to finish the chapter in a way that doesn't conflict with my overall vision of this story. I'm also slowly responding to reviews on FFN and AO3, so if you haven't heard from me yet, you will. Just give me time. Every day is a battle right now, but I can get through this.

So yeah. Thank you for coming to my pity party. There will be party favors at the door. In the form of a chapter update. Hopefully very soon. If you read this til the end, you are a saint and I love you.

So. After the ddos attack on ao3.

I was encouraged to write more comments and make my love known to fanfic writers.

I dont really like commenting. Because im a bit shy and soooo lazy.

Now though. I am writing more comments. And dude. This is so heartwarming. Ya'll need to treat writers better. They are doing the lord's work.

Take for an example, couple of days prior, i was searching for something interesting to read, and found an oneshot quite compelling.

I read it. At the end of it, i was blown away by how good it was. It promised me something and it went beyond my expectations. But then i saw a crime, zero fucking comments!

At that moment, i wasn't feeling up to writing a comment. Because, normally i like to write huge paragraphs. But because im lazy i decided to be brief.

Next day, the author answered that the comment lift their mood for the whole day.

That warmed my heart.

Duuuuuuuude! Write comments! Suport the writers of the fics you like! No need to be something super elaborate. Just give your thoughts. Freak out. Ramble. Ask something. Make theories. Compliment. Make a joke about how you wished to give kudos every chapter but ao3 sucks(not true bby) and won't let you.

Truly. Just. Comment. It can make someone's day. And that is part of the apeal of writing fics. Interacting with people.

Just give love to fanfic writers yall. They deserve this and so much more.

Merry Christmas everyone (even if I'm a bit late)! I already did my big Christmas piece HERE but didn't feel right not to do a fun little extra thing on the day of!

Also, for all of those asking the below question:

NO! You got one and it took all year! That's it, haha! Though admittedly, some of you might have figured out that this "Special" was actually just a chapter flashback disguised as a Holiday Special. It still took longer than expected though heh.

Also including a small update under the cut. TLDR expect the next Replica update soon. Sorry it's taken so long!

As far as Replica going forward I hope to begin on it full force now that I have completed most of my below task list:

CHECK LIST: TMNT Zines (3 total) - 100% complete (finally) Eye Injury - 85% healed (it's been an annoying setback) Holiday Obligations - 95% complete (can focus on art again) Replica Next Update - 50% complete (whew!)

This next update will be the last BIG one for a while, but it will be the biggest one yet. Then we'll be back to much smaller more regular updates (I can't wait). I'm sorry this next one has taken so long, but all the above life obligations have been keeping me busy on top of just everyday stuff! Thank you everyone for your endless patience as we get back into the swing!
