So I think the only way to go about doing the Modern!James AU would be to have a story within a story. Every few chapters, we see what would have happened in the movies, typically from Theo's POV, had James not been there - as a full blown proper chapter. Because the only other way would be to have it randomly explained in James' narration and that could get very convoluted very quickly. Like, you know the movie Sliding Doors where you see two ways her life could've played out? Kinda like that, but skewed waaaay more heavily towards the version that James is interfering with rather than 50/50 split.

So the story goes that, when she was young, Ahru was sent by her mother to live with and train under her friend, Idene Fortemont, in an effort to find a solution to her poor aetheric flow.

But it's also been canon in my head for a while that Ahnia also knew Louisoix from her travels before Ahru was born. So the idea of her sending her to him instead is not unfeasible.

So this is that! I'd still have to iron out a timeline but she was probably about ten or so when she was sent there, just a year or two older than the twins. Bawling my eyes out thinking this would have been her happiest timeline by far. She was still a little shit who got into trouble, especially in the beginning still feeling like an outcast child, but the Leveilleur's were so good to her she would have ended up doing her best.

Still scrappy, gets to pursue her favorite research into the Void at the Studium, probably didn't ever 'fix' that aether problem but found work-arounds I'm still brainstorming (hard lean into Paladin though). And then ends up following the twins to Eorzea and- well, that's where the path diverges. I think this can go either way into a WoL path or a Scion who follows Alphi around like an enthusiastic guard dog. 😌

Cassandra Cain's rebirthday

We've had one birthday, yes. But what about second birthday?

In Batgirl (2000) #33, Babs and Cass decide to celebrate Cass' birthday on the anniversary of the day that she became Batgirl.

Although in this same issue, David Cain reveals the anniversary of her birth falls on another date, January 26... ♒

...Cass still celebrates her new chosen birthday with her new chosen family.

In-universe, it looks like Cass became Batgirl in June-ish of the year-long "No Man's Land". She was given the mantle before the first day of summer (Detective Comics #735), which traditionally falls on June 21 in the USA. Cass became Batgirl in Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #120, which—according to Mike's Amazing World—has a real-world copyright date of May 21, a market release date of June 2, and a cover date of August.

Dreamed about OgCale and Rok Soo being roommates besties in a modern fantasy Earth AU—

Except the whole dream was OgCale swinging and humming in the kitchen, preparing a dessert as breakfast. Then he opened Rok Soo's door and threw a pillow at him, saying "WAKE UP, BITCH. THERE'S BREAKFAST"

Then the two of them had a quiet "Rok Soo's birthday" breakfast and fed a cat while recalling how they met.

Apparently Rok Soo was sitting in a bank outside a house/apartment complex? And OgCale came and told him no one sits there because the woman living in the store above likes to water her plants too much. Cue Rok Soo getting a whole bucket of water rain over him. OgCale then got him to come over to his apartment, which was nearby, to get him dry. I don't remember what he said exactly but we know the real reason is he's kind when he doesn't have to put an act.

Anyways, Rok Soo ended up staying for the night. Later they became roommates because OgCale's cat kinda adopted him, so OgCale decided he was fine. OgCale jokes about that a lot. So does Rok Soo, just most people don't notice he's joking. He calls the cat "Milky-nim".

Going with Akane Plays Pokemon Go bc its my most recent one and also im obsessed with that game currently

I lied when i said its about akane playing pokemon its actually about siblings worrying about each other and about post-999 anxieties and expectations. Originally i did just want to write about akane having fun, but then i also got caught up thinking about aoi + i wanted to figure out how theyd interact outside the games premises, and it ended up the way it is.

I imagine akane is much more ready to go on and instantly work on her other shit once the second nonary game is over, while aoi would maybe prefer if she took a break and like. Didn't have to go around saving the world or whatever. Since they just officially got her back. So i wanted to write about that dissonance but i also know aoi can never say no to her (i am also an older sibling i get it man), and honestly i dont think hes done much but worked his whole life, so its a mix of them hanging out and neither being too happy about what they know has to be done but hey, the grind never stops. Akane has been stuck in the morphic field/various timelines for years, and aoi has devoted his life to keeping her safe even longer, so do they even know how to do anything else? I don't know but it is fun to think about

Ive also been thinking about that one qna answer about their relationship never changing and how that does or doesn't clash with their (possibly) different expectations for the future. Its interesting! Especially with how we know much more about akane and her motivations while everything we get about aoi is tied to his sister. Theres a lot there id like to dig into more but this felt like a too lighthearted fic for that so theres only bits of it
