Synopsis: Derek wasn’t born a wolf. Surrounded by a supernatural family, it’s pretty hard to forget that he’s not special, not powerful like Laura, or wild like Cora. His mom can barely look him in the eyes. But when a series of mountain lion attacks shakes the town, strange things start happening to Derek. Things he can’t explain.

So if he must befriend Stiles (the guy who had a crush on Derek since forever) to figure it out, maybe it's all worth it. To hell with his reputation! Derek can't go on not sleeping, hearing strange noises, and what's this pattern he keeps drawing every day? With only an annoying sister, a nosy kid detective, and his three preppy friends to keep him sane, what could possibly go wrong?

So, yeah, maybe Derek isn’t a wolf, but… he’s something.

Leona never thought you would be the one to shake his miserable existence; he’s far too cynical to use the word ‘change,’ but the thought isn’t far from it.

You, who is nauseatingly sentimental and abhorrently optimistic.

You, who swept up his heart so easily, as though he were a some pathetic lovesick loser.

You, who wrapped your arms around him and dared to feed his feeble hope.

You, who cries the most pitiful and loathsome tears, sickening and utterly maddening with what your foolish feelings do to him, the sense of dread and shame which permeates him.

It’s a balancing act; some days Leona can tell himself that you’re enough for him to get better, others he’s aware enough to know he’s stumbling towards a bitter end and dragging you down with him.

He feels nothing and everything all at once; his world is senseless until you enter his stage, but you drag along everything else with you. The love comes quick, but so does the apathy and pain and despair.

He wonders, hopes, that on some level, you understand. You just know. Everything that he’s always wanted to tell you, but never been able to push past his lips; that he loves you, that he’s sorry, that he knows and doesn’t know why he’s like this.

That you deserve better; that he doesn’t deserve to be loved how you love him.

Leona pushes you away, and still hopes you catch him when he falls.

On his worst days, another feeling looms over him. He never wants you to leave, but he can’t cause those awful tears anymore if you do. Can’t put you through anything else, further the wound he’s surely already caused.

But the tears spill and you don’t flee. You wrap your arms around him and squeeze and Leona squeezes back.

Thinking about George’s crash and Zhou’s crash at Silverstone. How George, acting on instinct, parked his car forfeited his race, and hardly thought about rushing to help in anyway he could. How he talked about how scared he had felt, and how worried for Zhou he had been. How he found himself in a situation that must have been one of his worst fears and they didn’t red flag the race for him. Despite how much he was asking for one. No. They had him sitting on the track, unable to see the cars coming at him, trapped and frantically looking around waiting for that impact. Its horrifying. It shouldn’t have happened to anyone, and the fact that George showed his true character by immediately placing another drivers safety first, but the sport couldn’t do that for him in return is so upsetting.

Something something perhaps the reason Curly lacks a truly undamaged ID where his face is visible is to represent how much damage Jimmy had already affected on him throughout their relationship and the way Curly obscured part of who he is and what he stood to unintentionally cater to this toxic influence in his life.

The Therapist

There's a new therapist at school.

Normally this wouldn't really bother Peter at all, since he's never gone to see a shrink in his life and doesn't ever plan on it, but there's something... off about this woman.

She seems unassuming enough at first glance. Red hair, green eyes, bright red lipstick. But there is something in her eyes, something that Peter can only describe as a predator looking at its next prey, when she looks around the school at all of the teenagers milling about. Heck, even the way she walks makes her seem as if she is a predator stalking her prey.

It could always be some kind of power move, Peter reasons. He's met people like that before, who try to intimidate everyone around them into thinking that they are superior, that they are the apex predator and anyone who dares to cross them would pay for it dearly.

But his Spidey Sense went crazy around her.

He tries to brush it off as paranoia. He'd pulled an all-nighter last night in the lab with Tony because neither of them had been able to sleep, and he hadn't been sleeping well even before that. (Funny, how it had all started the night after he first bumped into the new therapist in the halls.) So his Spidey Sense is probably out of wack because he's tired. Simple as that.

But it seems like everyone in the school is depressed. Even Ned, who can't even muster up the energy and enthusiasm to talk about Legos or Star Wars or even the weather. It worries Peter.

Because it all started when that therapist came to the school.

He can't ignore it forever, he knows that. There is only so long his Spidey Sense can tell him that she is danger danger danger before he finally listens. He has to do something to help everyone.

So he researches.

And he falls into the rabbit hole of ghosts and ectoplasm and secret government organizations and the little, unassuming town of Amity Park, Illinois.

He doesn't sleep that night.

When he comes to school the next morning, Dr. Penelope Spectra looks him dead in the eyes, and smiles.

Do you guys ever think about how, like, not only lonely Knuckles must feel being on Angel Island, but how trapped he may also be - even if logically he can leave whenever he so chooses, and he does on and off to go to the surface/save the world

But just, how bound to his duty he is. Bound to protect the Master Emerald, this object of immense power that people vyy for and try and take/have taken in the past. How his responsibility is also to Angel Island, so the creatures on it, to the upkeep of historical sites, old shrines, old buildings of his people just so his species won't be lost to time.

And, especially after Frontiers, after his quiet promise to Sonic that he'll go out on more adventures, do his own thing, explore more and not be as tied down as he currently is, be more like the hedgehog himself - the odds are, he probably wouldn't be able to make himself do that because of the guilt he would harbour.

Watching as Tails and Amy go off on their own adventures, to explore places theyve never been before and Sonic, being the regular free spirit is all for them both finding their own way.

Knuckles couldn't be prouder either, he would be extremely happy for them

But also, internally, there would be a little jealousy for the freedom that they have such easy access to.

All the while, Knuckles is bound by his mind and spirit and soul to Angel Island and the Emerald. Sure, he could ask some of his friends to watch the place whilst he goes on a trip, but that's temporary. He'll always be back to where he was in the beginning. Languishing and hidden away from a world that doesn't even know of the sacrafice he's giving to keep chaos balanced and everyone safe.

Wanting to leave, but knowing that he can't. His chores becoming harder, getting up in the morning turning into a struggle, the enjoyment of his duty - something he once took pride in, becoming something that is harder and harder because whilst he is blessed by the purpose he has, he wants more. He wants a life on the surface, in a world he doesn't truly understand but it's something different and new.

He just can't have that because he's needed for a thankless and unseen role.

The anxiousness, the sadness of what he can't have leading to depression that he doesn't exactly have the words for since it's not something he's heard mentioned all that much when surface-side, he doesn't know why he feels sick, hollow, tired, like a void is in his chest and his mind is floating seperate from his brain and why his thoughts are foggy and motivation is hard

And along with that, no one truly understands why he can't allow himself to have the freedom that everyone else takes advantage of. Knuckles will just keep on keeping on until he eventually burns himself out, or whatever may come next
