Free & Discounted Election Day Rides 2024

Election Day is nearly here, and if you haven’t already mailed in your ballot or gone in for early voting, you might need a ride come November 5.

Here’s a roundup of some of the freebies, discounts, and information on getting to the polls that organizations are offering.

Lyft

Lyft announced that riders can preload the code VOTE24 for a half-price discount of up to $10 on rideshare, bike-share, or scooter rides on or before Nov. 5. The code is only valid between 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. every time zone.

Uber

Uber also announced it will offer half-off rideshare costs of up to $10 on Election Day for users in most states.

Using a new "Go Vote" tile displayed on the app, users can book a ride to the nearest poll with the discount unless they are in California or Georgia. The offer works between 4 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. local time on Nov. 5. The company will also offer 25% off food orders up to $15 with a minimum order of $25.

Lime

Lime is offering free rides to and from your polling place to vote early or on Election Day. Riders can use the promo code VOTE2024 to get two free 30-minute rides in the U.S.

Bird & Spin

Bird and Spin are also offering two free rides as part of their Roll to the Polls initiative. Riders can use the code RockTheVote2024 in the app.

Rideshare2Vote

Rideshare2Vote helps voters in need of a ride get to their local polling facilities for free. Ridshare2Vote is available in seven swing states (Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin), as well as Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. very important official zine stuff for real this time guys please spread this around

we realized we haven’t asked you what you want this zine to be, so here is poll with some different options for things we could do, but this still won’t set things in stone cause we’re aware that we’re working with a relatively small albeit amazing awesome and extremely appreciated audience, but it’ll give us a good idea for what direction you want the zine to go in.

some examples of what we mean for added coherence, please read before voting unless you wanna be like that guy in the Simpsons movie:

an eras tour zine (yes this is a Taylor swift joke shut up if you’re judging us you’re wrong) would be like different pieces dedicated to each, for lack of a better word, “thing” that Joel has done. @/inthelittlezine is a great example of this concept, except the mod has far better organizational skills than we ever could hope to

tourism brochure would be like we pick a specific thing Joel, such as esmp 1 or 2, or x life, or one of his hardcore/survival worlds (I haven’t listed Hermitcraft season 10 cause that’s still in progress but if you guys really really wanna, that too), and make an in universe guide to it expanding upon the lore and characters and builds and stuff. @/scarland-artbook is an amazing example of this, though of course we would be a much smaller scale of a project.

do you wanna tell a story? Or ride our bikes around the halls? We can’t help with the second one, we’re not very sporty people, but this option is both the most difficult and dangerous to the success of the zine, and the one that intrigues me specifically the most. Like, guys, I know I’m polling this, but I’m secretly hoping that this one wins. Like all the hoping. Ever. But I’m not gonna just say yeah let’s do this because if like only three people also wanna this zine will never get made and I will be really, really sad. This option is basically do we wanna take something Joel has done and work together to create an original universe/story based off of it, each contributing a small part of the story in comic or writing form. Unless you’ve been living under a rock and/or this post broke containment sorry if it did I assure I’m usually mostly sane, you probably know where I’m shamelessly stealing taking inspiration from. We heart you @/hotguycomiczine. If we went with this we would obviously create our own universe and storyline, and we’d try to base it off of one of Joel’s characters if possible. Also, if we went with this, we’d start the mod and application process and stuff and once we knew everyone who was going to be in the zine then we’d all get together and start working on the story, and this is the part I’m worried about because if we’re all stumped then I guess the zine is out of luck and I’d be sad. Also even if we did do this, like preemptively temper your expectations I am no where near as good as the legends at hotguycomiczine at organization and promotion and story writing and all that good stuff. However, if you have an idea for a story and want to share, send us an ask cause we might just end up using it.

Here you have some other advice, it’s not indicated in the pic, but you can’t vote while wearing a cap, but you can bring one to protect yourself from the sun and then when you go to vote you can take it off.

If you can, bring things to help your polling station, like snacks and water.

Charge your devices, lanterns, powerbanks, electric fans, etc, and make sure you have enough food in your home, mostly canned food and long lasting products.

If it’s within your possibilities, help those who don’t have any transportation to vote, I know our country is suffering from many gas problems, but you can help your neighbors or those who are closer to you.

“Where is [my favorite hot man]?” It depends. Have you checked all the polls in the tag? Have you done a tag search for him? If you still haven’t found him, either nobody submitted him or he did not fit the criteria of being a movie man from 1910-1970.

“Can I still submit hot men?” No, the submission window has closed. Please do not send in men you wish had made it into the bracket. I can’t do anything with those asks and they just make me sad.

"Can you post a list of the hot women already submitted?" No, because there are already 1300+ submissions and anything I post will be out of date immediately. The form takes two minutes or less to fill out—just submit instead of asking me if you should.

“I have additional propaganda for the hot men!” Great! Send me an ask, or reblog the poll and add your propaganda to it. I don’t boost all the propaganda I see or receive, but I try to boost the best of the best.

If you’re submitting propaganda for your hot man, I don’t accept propaganda that’s from beyond the end of this tournament’s era (ie don’t send me pics of them in the 70s onwards). I also don’t accept them acting in TV shows unless it’s clearly a cameo where they’re playing themselves.

Hey I have an announcement I would like to make, I know it’s not what you’re normally expecting, but I just wanna get this off my chest. Lately I’ve been dealing with a lot of mental health issues in and out of Tumblr, some too personal to talk about, so I’ll leave it with how I been feeling about Tumblr.

I always found drawing as a great stress reliever. Whenever I’d post a drawing and it will receive up 50 likes at the most, it would always put the biggest smile on my face. My art style improved by a mile, yet it still feels like I’m falling behind my mutual peers.

I learned the hard way while using Tumblr that if you’re not considered ‘popular’ from the get-go, you’re much out of luck. Art takes time, years even, and I’ve been drawing for 15 of em so I would know that sometimes you gotta work with what you got—even if it’s not a lot.

I’ve known some people who’s gotten famous within a day or two, I always found it impressive as heck and wondered if it was possible for me. However, lately I’ve been questioning myself about a few things:

“Is my art style the problem?”

“Should I start posting more on this blog?”

“Are my friends and fans, losing interest?”

“Have I’ve been gone too long?”

“Should I just quit?”

“Should I bring Micro back?”

“Am I too underrated for this fandom?”

And these questions stuck with me for a few months, I’ve noticed things haven’t been the most exciting on my blog since I stopped drawing Microtale content, which to be honest was the only reason I got noticed in the first place. The truth was I slowly lost interest in Microtale after getting spammed over and over and over again while wanting to take a break from drawing him.

Sadly, there’s still one person in my asks that just can’t accept that i’ve moved on from Micro. Now don’t get me wrong, I will always appreciate how far Micro has gotten me these past 3 years and I won’t forget him. I still have plans for Microtale’s third year anniversary, but anything revolving the AU I just won’t be working on anymore

Where it all began.

When I first created Micro, I didn’t think I was gonna get very far, in my eyes he was just your typical lazy run of the mill ‘Sans OC’. I made the blog for fun at first because I figured “Hey, at least if this doesn’t blow up, I can have my underrated artist use him for their stories as long as they credited!”

Little did I know, that was only the beginning. I got noticed by a popular artist at the time, and I was overjoyed to find out that someone far superior than me in drawing liked my silly old drawing. It made me realize that not all popular artist are drama baiting, narcissistic human beings. It opened my eyes more meeting even more humble artists.

The more I made, the more my audience grew. When I reached 1000 followers last year, it was the best day of my life. I finally reached my goal and everything was good. After I stopped drawing him I got spammed constantly by an unknown person (forgot their name) asking if their character can meet Micro or if Micro could come back sooner than later.

Anyone who’s known me long enough knows I hate being spammed, it’s not gonna get your point across, point blank period. It’s my blog and I’m allowed to draw whoever I want, it’s not up to you to decide what content I make unless I decide we vote by poll. But after deleting the spamming one day, eventually things cooled down so I moved on too.

You’re allowed to like my AU’s, just please don’t shove your obnoxious opinions down my throat. I already have a lot going on and I don’t need anyone adding more pressure to the plate.

But let’s take a quick moment to appreciate underrated artists, they are the future of the art community and don’t get enough appreciation for their work. I myself am still somewhat underrated, and I’m okay with that now. You win some you lose some, but you have to draw another day.

hi, i love your blog! i was thinking about a poll idea pertaining to the one piece live action that might be fun for you to do! it would be a fancast where people submit and vote on actors they think should play characters that haven’t appeared in the show yet (i.e., bartolomeo, doflamingo, hancock, etc…).

Okay, so this ask has been sitting in my askbox for a while (thanks for sending it!) So it would keep reminding me of it while I thought about the best way to do this. I'm not sure if this really works well in a classic tournament way though, but maybe in a way like you can submit them and we'll vote 'yay' or 'nay' (or 'maybe'?).

Unless a character gets submissions for different actors, then I could pit them against each other. We shall see!

Must be for canon manga One Piece characters that have not made an appearance in the first season yet. (cover stories are canon too)

Characters who are theorized to have been seen (like Crocodile), but not confirmed, count as 'not appeared' too.

Smoker counts too, as I couldn't find a name for his actor yet and we haven't seen his face (if he has been cast and the actor is known, please let me know. For now it could be anyone).

Submissions HAVE TO include a (link to a) picture of the actor in question, as I don't know many actors and don't want to use a wrong picture.

'Actor' doesn't have to have acting jobs on their name already, but you must be convinced they are able to act out the character convincingly, so acting jobs help.

Actors must be speaking English well enough for the job (accents are fine, they don't have to be native speakers).

Every submission will get in, so no need to submit the same twice. But please, keep it to serious submissions only. If I think something is a joke submission, I'll keep the right to not make a poll about it.

If you seriously consider trying out for a certain role, you may submit yourself, given that you are comfortable with your name and picture being on this blog. (but don't cry if people vote against you)

If you’re a U.S. citizen, eligible to vote, and haven’t voted yet, please go out on Tuesday, November 5th and cast your ballot for Kamala Harris.

There is great value in open, constructive debate across the political spectrum, so we can all work together to improve the lives of all people in the United States – and also help people in other parts of the world. Partisan polarization that blinds us to all ideas from the ‘other’ side is a bad thing. I’ve tried to live this value myself – while I’m a staunch progressive and almost always vote Democrat, in the past I’ve voted Republican in a local election, for someone I believed to be a good candidate with good ideas. Polarization is bad – but right now the situation is different than ever before, and the stakes are too high.

Even if we didn’t agree with many of their policy proposals, I think most Democrats and left-leaning people would agree that previous Republican presidential candidates like McCain and Romney were honest, honorable people. But right now, the situation is very different. Right now, the stakes are too high. Trump, Vance, and the Republicans are running on a Project 2025 platform, intent on stripping away the hard-won rights of millions of people – women, LGBTQ+, people of color, and beyond.

Don’t listen to anyone who claims it isn’t ‘cool’ to vote or care about politics. Don’t let anyone tell you that your vote is ‘just one more’ and doesn’t matter - every vote matters. Don’t listen to anyone who threatens to find out or expose who you voted for – your ballot is always secret. No one will ever know who you voted for, unless you choose to share.

Rights are not automatic. Many, many, many people worked hard and suffered and died to enable all Americans, regardless of race or gender or background, to have our current rights, including the right to vote. Please don’t squander yours through inaction. Go out and vote to help safeguard your rights and the rights of others: cast your ballot for Harris - Walz and #voteblue down the ticket.
