Heads or Tails. Woo hoo! 300 followers! Thank you all so much. As always I like to remind that our ask box is open for silly prompts or drawing requests. GET IN THERE! But we got something else for y'all! Lore dump? Lore dump! We wanted to yap off about how our Narinder and Una's powers work in our AU, but this requires a bit of context in how gods work in general. A god is a sum of its devotion, the raw power poured into it by the will of mortals. Much like a fire, devotion can be as simple as a candle or as raging as a bonfire. A god channels their devotion through a Conduit Crown, which allows them to manipulate the universe. These powers are basic at first, but eventually form themselves into a Domain, or an area of expertise and control a god has. For example: Heket controlled Famine, and in it both hunger and feast. Shamrua, a more aged god, had a wider domain of both War and Peace but also Knowledge and Unawareness. Originally, Narinder was the god of Death, raised by Shamura to blend with the shadows and assassinate rival gods, but his hunger for a larger domain led to his family fearing his rise to power and thus his imprisonment. When Una was given the red crown, she channeled Narinder's energy through herself. She was not a god, simply a vessel, a mortal given the power but not truly the one commanding it or being worshiped. However, as time went on, her followers began to slowly worship her instead. It wasn't by their own choice, mind you. She preached the gospel of the red crown, but mortals saw her feed them, shelter them, and protect them. Its difficult to praise a god you've never met while the one who saved you from being sacrificed is right there cooking soup for the cult. Thus she began to form her own godhood, as mentioned in part one. Her domain was Fortune and change, as she was both quite the lucky lamb and the harbinger of a new era. Lucky to be the last one found. Lucky to be saved by the god of death. Lucky to always get good dice in knucklebones. Narinder could sense this, but his fondness for her and the promise of freedom allowed him to ignore it. A problem that would eventually solve itself. Except it didn't. When fate came to be and their blades met, Una triumphed against Narinder and stripped him of his godhood. But she didn't want to. She had always wanted to rule by Narinder's side, and be his most loyal follower forever. A dream kept deep in her heart from the first days of her revenge, even if it was impossible from the start. So in the apex of battle, when the swirling energy of destiny filled her blade, Una's raging power changed things without her even realizing. A crown cannot lie on sit upon two brows, but a throne can be wide enough for two to share. And with a fateful bargain, a new crown allows them to rule side by side, intertwined as their roles combined. Post ascension, Narinder's old power now belongs to both of them, though each still has a unique domain. Una still controls fortune, ranging from anything to getting lucky in a card game to bumping into your soulmate by pure coincidence, but her power also alludes to growth. Her power manifests as intense bursts of energy, lightning that strikes hard and fast leaving opponents nothing but ash. Narinder's power still pertains to death, but now his domain is Decay and Misfortune. Stubbing your toe, getting rained on, and so many worse fates. His power forms as inky blobs of wispy shadow, corrosive and consuming. Powerful in their own right, their strength only grows when they come together. When life and death meld, their ability carries the strength to change almost anything they desire, if the bickering pair can agree on it. They exist together now, united as gods for eternity.

Favourite colour: Uhhh... Big fan of black, you know? Most of my clothes are black and it is nice on my eyes. Also, it reminds me of my cool, yet wicked soul. I also like gray a lot.

Last song listened to: I have not been really on a music mood these last months, but I did recently download ACTIVE PAIN on my phone because I could not find it on my usual music places. It plays at the end of the Umineko chapter three tea party and I like the lyrics because they are about Ange (good character). Currently reading: I have not been on a reading mood lately, so I am not exactly "currently" reading it, but Umineko (still at chapter six), which is my current obsession (you should read it), and Higurashi (still at chapter two [also read this one])

Currently watching: I have not been on a mood to watch movies or series (starting to see a pattern) and I am not a big fan of watching them anyways, but I was watching Revolutionary Girl Utena last year (I stopped at the end of the Black Rose arc, still a really interesting anime). And I am not sure if it counts, but I have been watching a lot of survival horror games from Toaster's channel (I really like horror games[they are interesting])

Currently craving: I could really use several boxes of pizza right now and maybe weed

Coffee or tea: I am scared of coffee and tea has never tasted particularly nice to me. I usually just drink water

Sanremo 2024 - the post!

Hello everyone! Here you’ll find this year’s Sanremo’s stuff and news (I’ll be uploading this post through all the week). The Festival will start on Tuesday February 6th at 8:30 pm (it’ll probably have a 5 minutes “anteprima = preview” every night), and end on Saturday February 10th, when the final will be broadcasted.

Also this year we’ll have the PrimaFestival, the small show broadcasted on Rai1 at around 8:30 p.m. (February 4th - February 10th). The hosts are Paola & Chiara (singers), Mattia Stanga and Daniele Cabras (tiktokers).

There's gonna be some kind of Dopofestival, with Fiorello and Alessia Marcuzzi (tv/radio host) called “Viva Rai2!… Viva Sanremo” (jingle/sigla) right after the end of each Sanremo's night (6th-9th Feb.). Gli Autogol (comedians soccer-related) will complete some missions for Amadeus on Raiplay.

CasaSanremo- A website about Sanremo and all the artists who will take part, with more infos and interviews (also Italian places and food specialties will be shown). Follow them also on their Social Media Channels, usually they make live video/interviews/shows on FB for example.

On Sorrisi&Canzoni you will find also other infos about Sanremo and every lyrics’s explanation (ofc ask me if you need a translation)

To watch it live:

Raiuno -> just click on the first video on the left, or here, to open the Raiuno streaming immediately (I added the whole Rai channels things in case you had troubles connecting directly and wanted to try from there). The RAI’s geoblock is usually removed for Sanremo’s week, no need to create accounts or whatsoever to enjoy Sanremo online!! Remember you can rewatch the whole event and each performance on Raiplay few minutes after it has happened (and the whole week will be avaiable as well for basically the whole following year).

FANTASANREMO - this year as well you can play while enjoying your Sanremo! How does it work? Every person “buys” 5 artisti and marks one of them as a captain. As in the last years, artists will have to do or say something while on stage to help you gain points (and also classification will have a say).

Hosts & Guests + Other Stuff

This years’ host will still be Amadeus (who choose the songs taking part into this Sanremo), a TV and radio host. He will be accompanied by a different co-host each night: Marco Mengoni (singer; first night); Giorgia (singer; second night); Teresa Mannino (actress, comedian; third night); Lorella Cuccarini (actress, tv host, dancer, dance teacher in AMICI tv show; fourth night); Fiorello (tv and radio host, comedian, singer; last night).

Some of the one-night guests during the week will be: John Travolta (actor, dancer); Giovanni Allevi (musician); Marco Mengoni (singer); Sabrina Ferilli (actress); Giorgia (singer) will celebrate her song "E poi"'s 30th anniversary; Russel Crowe (actor, singer); Eros Ramazzotti (singer) will celebrate his song "Una terra promessa"'s 40th anniversary; Roberto Bolle (dancer); the cast of "Mameli" (new serie about the guy who wrote our National anthem); Leo Gassman (actor, singer); the cast of "Il Mare fuori" (Raiplay serie); The Nuova Orchestra Santa Balera to celebrate "Romagna Mia"'s 70th anniversary; Gigliola Cinquetti (singer) will celebrate her song "Non ho l'età"'s 60th anniversary.

How it works

There will be 30 singers in the ARTISTI (artists) section. It will be the only section, as last year. 27 artists were chosen by Amadeus, while the other 3 are the winners of Sanremo Giovani (held in December 2023). The winner of the competition will represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest: if he/she/they won’t accept, the choice will be another artist, usually the 2nd classified or the next (the first one accepting). This year we're gonna listen to all the 30 songs on the first night. The 2nd and 3rd night, we'll get to listen to 15 songs each night. The artisti that are not performing during the 2nd night will introduce the performing ones and vice versa on the 3rd night. The artisti introducing the performing artisti will be decided by a public draw during the Sanremo's press conferences on the 2nd and 3rd day. On the 4th night, there will be the usual “covers” night: the artisti this year can choose any song, national or international, from any year (until December 2023) and by anyone (even themselves).

My chosen prompts are both Warmth and A brush of a finger.

SENSITIVE TOPIC WARNING I wrote this for Draft 2 of my dystopian novel The Blood Cleaners, which deals with the topic of child labor.

Justin tasted the ping of blood before the boy cried. He didn’t remember the name of this boy - Sam or Tom he believed - about seven years old and crying over his smashed, bleeding fingers under his sledgehammer. Justin promptly morphed as did Joselyn, arriving on the scene in seconds. Joselyn took the cleaning supplies from her belt and kit. Justin held the boy’s hands. The child worker supervisor, a scrawny woman named Lana, ran up, yelling in her walkie talkie in Spanish, no doubt for the emergency crew to respond. Justin took out the thick hand towel from his kit, wrapping it around the boy’s hand. “We need soap and an ice pack!” Justin exclaimed. Joselyn looked to Lana. “¡Jabón! ¡Una bolsa de hielo!” As Lana ran off, Justin applied pressure to the boy’s hands. “Take it easy,” Justin said softly. “Take deep breaths. Calm down. EMTs will get you to the hospital. You’ll be good as new.” The boy’s good fingers touched the top of Justin’s hand. His touch was warm and rough, skin worn and hardened by holding the hammer for life. Justin turned his hand around to hold the boy’s fingers. Their fingers rubbed each other, one hand desperate for comfort, the other hand desperate to channel the comfort. “Hey, want some jokes?” Justin forced a smile. “What do you call a sleeping bull? A bulldozer! What did the janitor say when he jumped out of the closet? Supplies! Why can’t your nose be 12 inches long? Because then it would be a foot!” The boy whimpered. Joselyn sprayed the area of blood, letting the UD sit and do its work. Justin handed her the bloody towel. She sprayed it, too. He grabbed the second towel from his kit, quickly recovering the crushed fingers. He hoped more adults would respond soon with more towels. Knowing that bloody towels attracted the lils, blood cleaners and EMT’s had to be one step ahead. They would have to replenish and disinfect plenty of towels while applying pressure to the bleeding. “Harvey!” shouted a woman who ran up to the boy. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders. “Mami,” the boy uttered. Justin was off on the name, but held the boy’s hand tightly as he said, “See, Mami’s here. You’ll be fine.” As Justin was touched by the mother’s rapid breathing, he thought about how her son wouldn’t be able to add to the family’s income while he recovered in the hospital. As her short stubby fingers rubbed her son’s face, Justin caught a picture of when she experienced the injury herself, likely as a child. It wasn’t enough to stop her from picking up the shovel to continue work in the quarry for the rest of her life. The life her son still had ahead of him. Justin looked at Joselyn for a moment, seeing her glower while she wiped the spots of blood from the ground. She was no more happy than he was about this. Less happy about how the Fists let this go on and on. For every quarry worker. For every generation. Something had to be done. Something had to change. As Justin touched the warmth of Harvey’s hand in his, he was reminded of the warmth he felt whenever he talked with the broom and the light switches. Perhaps there was something he could do.

A rather large present box suddenly appears from nothing in the Chaotix's agency. Where did this box come from? Regardless of where it came from, it appeared to have a lot of goodies inside, given the box's size.

On the tag, it's addressed to the whole Chaotix team, with this present being from Silver.

Once the present was opened, there was a bunch of gifts inside, each labeled for the respective Chaotix member. Vector got a new futuristic looking pair of headphones, Charmy got a bunch of honeycomb candy, Espio got a really puffy coat, Mighty got a new punching bag, and Ray got a new pair of futuristic looking goggles.

Along with the gifts, there was a note. The handwriting was pretty much chicken scratch, but it was still readable. It read:

"Hope you guys enjoy the gifts! I wasn't sure what to get for Mighty and Ray as I don't know them too well, so I just guessed. Merry Christmas guys!

P.S. Espio I better see you wearing that coat next time we meet. - Silver"

The detectives seem to be messing around, while vectors holding charmy up high for the little bee to put a star on the tree, as they just got done decorating as a family, espio is sifting through tv channels with a remote to find the perfect christmas movie, and settles on ‘die hard’- just so he can hear vector scream “ESA NO ES UNA PUTA PELÍCULA DE NAVIDAD!” (THATS NOT A FUCKING CHRISTMAS MOVIE), which sent the chameleon into a little laughing fit, but kept it on out of spite.

However mighty and ray take notice of the massive present, the two run over as charmy finishes placing the star utop the tree, and the two call the three over with ray being excited. Vector, lightheartedly annoyed by espios choice of movie, makes his way over as he carries charmy on his shoulder and espio by the tail, politely.

“Open it, open it, open it vect, cmon!!”

“Ray, be patient, remember what we were taught buddy.”

“But! But! Cmon!! OPEN ITTTT-“

“Alright, alright, I’ll open it no worries! Lets read tha tag first though, don’t wan be rude now do we? We gotta know who to bombard with christmas cheer later!”

Vector cackles as he looks at the tag, and grins happily.

“Future boy! I knew he wouldn’t forget bout us!”

Vector beamed, before setting charmy and espio down. His large claws outstretch and the massive crocodile tears into the wrapping paper and box to open it abit barbarically, but not injuring any of the gifts inside, chuckling as his tail wags. Ray and charmy chant and cheer as vector tears it open and they hop up and down to peer inside the big box. Vector gently takes the gofts, and hands each one out to the respective member ots made for. Taking the note, he grins and reads it outloud for the team. The kids chant out a ‘merry christmas silver!’ Even if he isnt here to hear it. But at the side note, vector glares at espio.

“Esp. Didja go out without a damn thing to wear ‘gain.”

“..maybe?”

“ESP! FA FUCKS SAKE, BUD! YER A REPTILE, YER GON FREEZE ONE OF THESE DAYS!”

Cada día son más y cada día el mercado los cuida más y piensa más en ellos.

La televisión cada vez se hace más a su medida.

Las parrillas de los distintos canales compiten en ofrecer programas pensados para una gente que no lee, que no entiende, que pasa de la cultura, que quiere que la diviertan o que la distraigan, aunque sea con los crímenes más brutales o con los más sucios trapos de portera.

El mundo entero se está creando a la medida de esta nueva mayoría, amigos.

Todo es superficial, frívolo, elemental, primario… para que ellos puedan entenderlo y digerirlo.

Esos son socialmente la nueva clase dominante, aunque siempre será la clase dominada, precisamente por su analfabetismo y su incultura, la que impone su falta de gusto y sus morbosas reglas.

Y así nos va a los que no nos conformamos con tan poco, a los que aspiramos a un poco más de profundidad.

Every day, there are more of them, and every day the market caters to them more and more.

Television is increasingly tailored to their preferences.

Broadcast schedules across different channels compete to offer programs designed for people who don’t read, who don’t understand, who reject culture, and who just want to be entertained or distracted—be it with the most brutal crimes or the dirtiest laundry of the gossip mill.

The entire world is being shaped to suit this new majority, my friends.

Everything is superficial, frivolous, basic, and elementary—so that they can understand and digest it.

Socially, they are the new dominant class, though they will always remain the dominated class, precisely because of their illiteracy and lack of culture. They impose their poor taste and morbid rules.

And so, those of us who refuse to settle for so little, who yearn for a bit more depth, are left to endure the consequences.

I've been writing this fanfic on Wattpad for a long time. Based on the three Tadeo Jones movies of Enrique Gato, dedicated to my little nephews who love this saga, I created a concept for what the fourth part would be. And leaving aside that the plot of the new installment was already confirmed, here I made a story completely different from what the director had in mind.

The plot revolves around Tad and his friends, who find Joaquin Pommes' map, which leads to the treasure of Montcezona, the last Aztec king. However, an evil woman named Julia Cortés, descendant of the spanish conquistador Cortés, along with Elías Pizarro, incarnation of the spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro, will try to stop the team from finding the treasure.

The story will revolve around Mexico and various cities there. Of course, there will be a new addition to the team. I can only say that. And of course, there will be returns and many adventures. I encourage you to read it. I think if you like Tad the lost explorer, you will love this fanfic.

Hello! I came to ask you to please write that essay you mentioned about how Charles is feminized in the fics, but you already beat me to it hahahah. Pero he de decir que coincido contigo en que se asigna una estructura heteronormativa a la dinámica de pareja y Charles acaba asumiendo el rol femenino, lo que se percibe como algo negativo debido en gran medida a la misoginia internalizada.

Personalmente, como ávido consumidor de fanfics, estas son caracterizaciones con las que siempre me encuentro y, francamente, me molestan. En el caso de Charles, lo describen como sumiso, ingenuo y con baja autoestima, en resúmenes con un carácter “débil”. Sinceramente no le veo nada malo si es con fines narrativos, pero el hecho de que muchos fanfics solo lo describan así o asuman que esa es su personalidad da mucho que pensar, sobre todo porque ignoran otros aspectos de La personalidad de Charles (o bueno, lo poco que sabemos sobre la personalidad de Charles, ya que no debemos olvidar que no lo conocemos y Charles solo muestra lo que quiere mostrar).

Hi anon! I'm glad you agreed, and I agree with your points too. My issue is, and continues to be, when people can't divorce the narrative from the real person and these characterisations carry over into spaces where they shouldn't be. I'm going to expand wider than just RPF here and say the narrative around Charles' generally is sometimes a little much. Take this whole "haunted by tragedy" thing that Sky Sports was having a little too much fun with this weekend, with Damon Hill saying that the reason why Charles wasn't driving well was because he was distracted by grief? Sure, it makes for a good narrative to sell on your sports channel, but doesn't fit with the image of Charles who won Baku in F2 the weekend after his father died, and won his maiden grand prix the day after a childhood friend of his died.

It's so easy for all of us, fans to news pundits to talk about Charles battling with the circumstances of his life, whether it be those he's lost, or Ferrari being like a toxic ex he can never quite seem to leave, that it strips him of recognition of his own agency in a lot of ways. Charles has shown incredible mental strength in his life, and lest we forget, literally girlbossed his way to a legendary Ferrari contract. I got a few anons calling Charles mentally weak for not disobeying team orders in Japan, and I couldn't disagree more. This is a racing driver approaching his prime, who knew he could not defend on 20 lap newer tyres but ran an incredible race nonetheless. Charles is not a damsel in distress, he's an agent completely in control of his own destiny.

Speaking of destiny, the il predestinato nickname slaps, but I think is incredibly misleading for some people sometimes. When Charles wins a world championship, it won't be because he is 'destined' or 'fulfilling some prophecy', it will be due to his own choices, his own skill, his own talent, his own hard work. I think that Charles as a WDC is going to get hit with a VERY different narrative than the one we see now, one that acknowledges his hard work and agency in making his dream come true.

The screen split to a live entry of a dark-haired woman who appeared to be in a park. Dropping the controller on the couch, Charlie couldn't stop watching, even though she didn't understand anything that was being said. But in a way, she didn't even need to.

— Hola Anne, buenas tardes. Suddenly, the television turned off.

Charlie let out a gasp of protest, before turning around to see Fernando's serious gaze. She felt like a naughty child who had just been caught doing something she shouldn't.

— Why were you watching this? — he asked.

— I wasn't — Charlie stammered, feeling his face heat up — I was looking for the Brighton match…

— That didn't look like the Brighton match, Charlie — Fernando said.

— I know…

He walked around the couch, crutches clicking on the floor as he stopped beside her and sat down. Looking down at her hands, Charlie couldn't shake the discomfort she'd been feeling, not just at being caught watching a news report about what had happened over the past 24 hours, but at being exposed like that.

The day before, after visiting the museum, Fernando took her to the circuit, where the go-kart shed used by students from the school he had set up there was located. After meeting the crew that maintained the equipment, showing her how he tightened the wheels as a teenager, and hearing more about how they took care of the engines, Fernando asked her if she wanted to go for a ride on the track.

— Can I? — Charlie asked, almost as if she were a child delighted by the possibility of playing with a new toy.

— Of course.

Changing into a set of the school's blue overalls and a helmet, Charlie could see through the opening in the visor the smile that Fernando had on his face. Asking her to wait a bit before sitting in the kart, he took his phone out of his pocket and took some pictures of her, telling her that she looked like a real Formula 1 driver.

After the last instructions, Charlie put her foot down on the accelerator, leaving the garage in the direction of the track. Allowing herself to experiment on the asphalt, she couldn't help but laugh when she caught too much of one of the kerbs in one of the corners or when she almost lost the rear at the last chicane. Driving the kart around made her feel strangely nostalgic, especially when she thought back to the times she and her grandfather had gone to a track in Northampton for a few laps.

When she pulled up in front of the garage, Charlie found Fernando with a wide smile on his face, leaning against the wall.

— So, what do you think? — he asked.

Charlie walked over to him as she took off her helmet and balaclava. 

— It's amazing, the kart is very well adjusted and the track is excellent! — she exclaimed, smiling, while the driver took one of his hands to her forehead, fixing her disheveled bangs  — And you, what did you think?

— You still need some lessons — Fernando replied, receiving a playful pat on the chest from Charlie — But you've got potential, nena, lots of potential.

After laughing, she gave him a soft kiss, one hand on his face, caressing the driver's cheek. A moment Charlie wanted to keep forever inside her heart and not have it recorded and posted to the entire world. The sensationalist headlines were already sketching in her mind, one worse than the other.

“Fernando Alonso takes his own engineer to bed”.

The driver stared at her for a few seconds before smiling, squeezing Charlie's hand.

— No, no, I don't want you to break up with me, Charlie. In fact, I want you by my side forever. But I don't want my life and everything that comes with it to become a burden on you.

— Maybe I'm not, but the spotlight is. Maybe the attention, the comments on the internet, the things people will say in the paddock, all of that is a burden. And I couldn't bear to see you fade just because I love you — he murmured — I want you to keep shining, Charlie. And I want to wake up every day with your light illuminating and warming me.

Something in his words made Charlie feel her eyes fill with tears. She had avoided love at all costs over the years. It was something too difficult, too terrifying for her. It wasn't worth investing in something that would only make her suffer and cry, clutching a bottle of wine and watching some sappy romance movie.

Then Fernando appeared in her life again. It was as if fate wanted them to settle the disputes that one had with the other. And the moment Charlie gave the driver a second chance, she allowed herself to discover a fantastic man, dedicated and loving, who cared about her and would do anything to see her happy.

Love was still difficult and terrifying for Charlie.

But, loving Fernando was the best thing that had happened in her life.

— I'll never fade as long as you're by my side — she said, with a small smile — I love you. And it won't be one article talking about me that will make me give up on you.

— Not even two?

— Not even a million — Charlie said, before approaching his face, giving a peck on his lips — Nothing in this world will make me give up on you.

Staring at her for a few seconds, Fernando smiled.

— But it wasn't me who said it, it was a bunch of nosy journalists. But, I think it’s time for me to say something and break the news on my own terms — he replied, taking his cell phone out of his pocket. Charlie almost immediately concluded what his plan was.

— Are you going to post a picture of us?

— Two, actually — the driver said, as he selected the images — If they want to know, they'll know.

— But — Charlie hesitated, looking at one of the photos — Do you need to post this one?

Fernando looked at her, one eyebrow raised.

— Don't you like this picture?

— I look terrible in it, Fer — she replied — Look at my hair, it's all messed up, I'm not wearing any makeup, and…

He chuckled, placing a hand on her face, his thumb lightly brushing her skin.

— You can be either way, I'll always find you beautiful — Fernando murmured — The most beautiful woman I've ever seen.

After searching a little more in the phone's gallery and finding a photo that showed the moment they were introduced to each other for the first time — with a Ron Dennis watching the moment attentively — the driver thought for long minutes before typing something in the telephone.

— “Two people never meet by chance” — Fernando said, looking at Charlie — What do you think?

— Are you talking about fate?

— Well, let's just say you made me believe in it.

She laughed.

— So it's my fault?

— Well, not only yours, but — the driver hesitated for a few seconds — There are only two ways to explain why we're together right now. One is careful planning and a crystal ball, which I believe is not the case. And the other is fate.

Criticizing Israel, refusing to participate, or showing support for refusers often leads to persecution. Shortly after our last newsletter was circulated, a right-wing Israeli news channel, Channel 14 TV, published an article targeting myself, RSN, and our partners, to intimidate us. Subsequently, right-wing groups called for the dismissal of individuals from their jobs because of their ties to refuser organizations. Although more than one hundred people have refused to fight in Gaza since October 7th, an estimate reported from our partners on the ground, the majority have refrained from doing so publicly. In light of this challenging atmosphere, many refusers prefer to refrain from publicly refusing. It's crucial for us to demonstrate to them that they are not alone, that support exists, and that we will stand by them during difficult times. From personal experience when I refused to serve in the military, 6 years ago, getting letters of support was very important to me. When I was feeling alone and disheartened, the dozens of letters from all over the world strengthened my spirit and gave me the power to carry on the fight. https://support.refuser.org/
