I'm seeing non Italian sonic fans on yt learning of our voice actors and being very appreciative of them! I saw something like "Italian shadow slaying for three minutes" or some title like that, and comments expressing that Renato Novara is as good as Jun'Ichi Kanemaru!

italians, i once saw the pastina discourse but i think i never saw the mulino bianco discourse, make an expat feel better and tell me your go-to biscotto
(pics are taken from the mulino bianco website so it's only the biscuits available today - now i know that pan di stelle is an independent brand now but to me it still belongs to the crew)

Valerio Minato's photo that won the Astronomy Picture of the Day Contest by NASA on December 25th, 2023.
In the picture: the moon, the Monviso Mount and the Basilica of Superga (on the Superga hill) outside Turin are all aligned. it took him 6 years to take this shot (and I take it as an example to never give up on your dreams).

In Italian news, Elon Musk butted in on an Italian political issue (specifically, criticizing a ruling by the Italian judiciary - a branch of the Italian government - and saying those judges should stay out of the business the ruling was about i.e. the management of immigration by Italian authorities - obviously the ruling was in favor of the immigrants) and our President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella very politely told him to go fuck himself made an official statement saying that Italy is a sovereign democratic state and someone who is about to have a role in the government of a fellow sovereign state, and an ally of Italy on top of that, should, you know, shut the fuck up. I mean, he used different words, but that was the meaning.

christmas in italy also means that during the evenings of the 24th, 25th and 26th you get to watch the extended version of LOTR on national TV because apparently those who plan the airing schedules are huge nerds and I'm forever thankful to them
#despite the advertising the fellowship always leaves rivendell at midnight so it's literally the 25th#and you can both say merry xmas but also hey besties stay safe#kinda#side eyes at boromir our beloved#the lord of the rings#lotr#lord of the rings#italian things#Christmas#thoughts#― rea's thoughts 💭

Every European kid asking why it's called “Palms Sunday” If we bless everything except real palms:

Palm Sunday is a Christian holiday. As you might have guessed from the name, it’s on a Sunday — always the Sunday before Easter. That’s because it’s meant to commemorate Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem, a week before Easter Sunday.
However, plams doesn't grow up everywhere, so each Christian country adopted their own version.
In the memes I summarize some of the European traditions I know:
North Italy, Slovenia and Croatia: small olive branches are blessed and distributed to the faithfuls at Churches. In Slovenia there are also “butarica”, that is traditionally a bundle of greenery, flowers or colored wood shavings. In Ljubljana, they are made of colored wood shavings, similar to the Polish tradion illustrated below
South Italy: interweaving palm leaves
Germany, Austria, Finland and Hungary: pussy willow or catkin branches
Bulgaria: Willow twigs, something weaved into crowns with other flowers
Poland: the faithful bring to churches their own “palms” generally made from willow branches decorated with evergreen plants colorful and vibrant crepe paper flowers and green bilberry or juniper bushes affixed to the top of dried flowers and colorful dyed grasses.

After reading the entire manga and Retry (which is beautiful btw) I went back and binged AiB on Netflix again, this time dubbed in Italian.
I don't have qualms with the dub apart from the obstinated wrong pronunciation of Chishiya. They pronounce it Kishiya all the time and it drives me mad. They don't pronounce any other name wrong. 🤣
Speaking of our dear Cheshire cat, lemme share a golden accidentally (?) gay moment of the dub.
I'm assuming they did it to fit the lyp syncing but basically at one point Chishiya is talking to Usagi about Arisu.
And in Italian he says
"Il nostro Arisu".
Which translates to "Our Arisu". It's actually a common way to address someone but the fact that he's saying that while TALKING TO USAGI made me chuckle. I could imagine Usagi replying "yeah ok dude I don't mind sharing 👍"
