the great thing about the revolutionary girl utena finale people don’t usually talk about is that one scene where all the council members promise they’ll get out of ohtori - and thus their coffins - when they’re ready. it’s great because it gives us the viewers hope for ourselves.

it’s easy to come out of utena realizing a few internalized hang ups you never grew out of. it’s a whole other thing to actually do something about it. these obsessive vices are so comfortable in their routine, even when it’s obviously unhealthy to keep going. being stuck in a rut of your own making fully aware of what you’re doing.

but utena never really scolds you too harshly about it in the end. it tells you, take your time. one day you’ll be strong enough to stand up and leave. people may help you get there, but you will leave with your own two feet.

it ends, not with every issue resolved and all the characters fully developed, but it ends with the promise that they will. and the camera is nice enough not to stalk them through it as they work out the kinks

Well, first post of 2025, huh? Not a bad first piece I'll say. Anyways, it's been a hot minute since I've drawn any Nadia fanart, hasn't it? Well, I just didn't have the itch to do it again until recently, thanks in no small part to me getting my good friend @guardianoftheearth into it recently. The Grandis Gang are some of his favorite characters so far, so I felt like doing fanart of them 'cus hey, I've never drawn them before and I thought it'd be fun! And well... it was extremely fun drawing them! Unfortunately I couldn't add the Gratan, but hey, maybe next time I'll do that.

It's kinda funny seeing everyone pretty much agree that Kuya should have gone scorched earth on the villagers, especially after the leader came up and all but begged Umi to fucking die.

Just the fact they left completely unsettled borderline depressed is ugh.

No wonder Kuya's rooms hit so hard. If this is how he feels after everythiing that happened no wonder he choked the shit out of Eiden.

I haven't read his rooms cuase I don't have him but everyone that pulled did not hold back on gushing about what happened so~

also it must be said explicitly every time. the orv webtoon is working with the revised ebook text which changes a lot of minor and major things for the worse. 1. tones down. SOOOOOO much of the political commentary and identity of the novel. which like. its a political novel. not as explicitly as it is other things, and get that more broadly accessible money i guess, but also its so disappointing. 2. tones down a lot of the gay subtext. ALSO DISAPPOINTING

Erika wouldn’t deduce peoples transgenderism because she couldn’t even figure out that was what was going on with her “cheating ex bf” who kept hiding feminine products around the house and hanging out in spaces where gender nonconformity is to some degree normalised (theatre, etc) while acting ashamed and secretive despite denying all cheating. And couldn’t solve the 17=18 puzzle in the same chapter because it’s not something that’s on her radar as a force of cisheteronormativity in the story. Imo.

Yknow what that is all true. On the other hand all logic is simple for the great erika furudo

i havent even hit any of the big setpiece scenes, but reading umi makes me want to cry. again, haven't reread the answer arcs ever except for a couple of scenes in 7 and 8, so finally rereading these over a decade later, knowing what i know now and having sat on all of that info and mulled it over for that long..... even the most normal scenes are making me emotional aughhhhhh!!! ououughhhhh!!!!!
