Something about group humiliation in Umineko. Ange's persecution at school and the public accusing her family stick out, but there's also Lucifer during the first twilight of episode 1, Natsuhi being berated and beat at the end of the game in episode 5, and Maria in the rose garden (and school I suppose). Dragging Clair's guts out on stage in episode 7. Hmm.

I don't actually have a coherent thought on it, just musing on how often it occurs. Maybe something will come later

at one point i began to think beato and battler would fuck in story, i thought in the answers arc i would be presented with a scene of them in bed together, something like eva & hideyoshi on ep. 1. somewhere during late ep. 4 i thought wait will they have sex? and i really wanted them to. things got weird after that but yeah. they got better later on but for a while they were weird

A bit of random notes. Non-Ushiromiyas and non-magical beings seem to have dark hair. But Battler's parents are reversed. Do hair colors carry significance Maria's eyes-style (ESPECIALLY with battler/ange sharing it and Shannon being slightly blonder+Lion) or is it strictly about easy visual separation? Way too many exceptions (Rudolf notably cares only for money part of Ushiromiyas and uses makeup so it'd work as an intentional disconnect but sumaderas and amakusa and tohya just desttoy it)

Kinzo's daughters have the same fringe, born out of Beatrice I.

Grandkids don't adhere to it, but they also don't adhere to axis-powers names (Actually, they kinda shifted into more american names with the notable exception of Senta-Battler. Is it a misunderstanding of the tradition? Didn't Kinzo make an input for the names? So it feels kinda like relating themselves to occupation)

Thinking about Ange telling Battler to not look back at her in Episode 4 vs Battler telling Ange to not look back at her family in Episode 8. The idea that just looking at that "magic" directly is enough to destroy it, but to avert your eyes is to make it real.

It's also interesting thinking about how the role-reversal in the VN versus Orpheus and Eurydice. What if Orpheus had accepted the "magic" of Eurydice being behind him? What if Eurydice was leading Orpheus instead?

(Less paralleled, but we also have Kanon telling a blinded Jessica to not touch him episode 3 and Beato telling Battler to keep his eyes closed on the boat in episode 8. I can't think of a similar instance with Shannon and George (does it happen at all ep 2?), but it'd complete the trio)

I don't remember the exact context of this passage, but I do think it's interesting to parallel what Beatrice and Ange's "last thing" is, since there's 3 contradictory wants going on.

Ange's "I want my brother to come back to me" to Beatrice's "I want Battler to remember his promise to take me with him"

Ange's "I want revenge on Aunt Eva by proving that she killed my family" to Beatrice's "I want revenge on the people of Rokkenjima by killing them.

Ange's "I want to discover what the true fate of 1986 was" to Beatrice's "I want to resign myself to what the true fate of 1986 will be"

this is an ange and beatrice paralellism...
