Food Week December 13, 2024
Welcome to Food Week December 13. Lots of activity with the FDA these days. Examining ultraprocessed foods, dyes in products and reduction of food waste, which all have the potential for positive progress. However, the return of polio, measles, rubella etc. kind of cancels out the good vibes. This and a lot more. Enjoy! MACRO Stocks dipped this week but not Tech stocks, which climb…

Highly Processed Foods
What do hot dogs, corn chips, and certain varieties of yogurt have in common? First, definitions, and then we’ll get to the point of this post. Unprocessed or minimally processed foods are whole foods in which the vitamins and nutrients are still intact. The food is in its natural (or nearly natural) state. These foods may be minimally altered by removal of inedible parts, drying, crushing,…

So, they finally found what was making me ill everytime i ate and it seems im both lactose and fructose intolerant :_)
I don’t care that much about lactose because i’ve been following a vegetarian diet with no dairy for years (that’s probably the reason im intolerant in the first place lol) but fructose will take onion and garlic plus most fruits out of my diet. IM MEDITERRANEAN, literally every dish here has onion and garlic, im so sad 😭

Reasons why I’m still fat:

It’s not a plateau nor is it a slowed down metabolism. It’s poor food choices and just being sloppy with calorie counting.

Like honestly what do Americans think Europe is like. Do you think 90% of food in our grocery stores isn't also processed or ultraprocessed? Most of the food an average person in Europe eats is heavily processed because the only way to avoid it is to be like, raw vegan or something. You don't enter the Country of Europe and suddenly the grocery stores turn into farmer's markets where every loaf of bread is home baked sourdough and every chicken nugget is made from a chicken slaughtered around the corner, butchered and ground and then breaded in front of you

hey if you could like, instantly just have whatever you wanted to eat appear if front of you, what would it be?
You know, before we left for the haul, I dropped by the burger joint next to the port that Cap's shown me before. I didn't get anything for myself, but now I kind of wish I have. As if we don't already have enough ultraprocessed food!
On the other hand, I could absolutely demolish a peach right now. I miss fresh fruit but, of course, I wouldn't be able to board the vessel if we had apples and the like in the stores! Since, you know, an apple a day-- yeah, you get it. Haha.

NY Times:
Today, ultraprocessed foods make up a majority of what we eat — nearly 60 percent of the calories adults consume in the United States, and nearly 70 percent of the calories consumed by children and teens.
(Translation — manufactured addictive junk food)

I'm more of a 'dangerously susceptible to ultraprocessed food' autism food sensitivity than a 'pure blandness' autism food sensitivity but I gotta say there's something about half a cup of unsalted dry roasted peanuts and nothing else for lunch

Note
should we diet as women?
For what purpose? If you mean change eating habits to be healthier, like giving up ultraprocessed foods or going vegetarian, sure. But to do.so.to lose weight is unhealthy mentally and typically doesn't work.
