The Case of the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Dates, chapter 1
Dead Boy Detectives/The Sandman crossover | Jenny Green/Johanna Constantine | Explicit | WIP
Tags for this chapter: Case Fic, Strangers to Lovers, Casual Sex, Semi-Public Sex, Vaginal Fingering, Panic Attacks

For the @sandman-rarepair-fest prompts Strangers to Lovers, AU/Crossover, and Femslash
Summary:
Jenny didn't leave her flat planning to have a semi-public anonymous hookup. She was supposed to be having drinks—and hopefully sex—with a woman she met through a dating app Crystal talked her into downloading—"I'm not saying you should go out looking for your soulmate; I'm just saying maybe you'd feel better if you got laid. Have you even relaxed for five minutes since you got off the plane?"—but Natalya hadn't shown up at the pub she suggested they meet at. But there there was a pretty brunette at the bar with a cocky smirk and a foul mouth who turned out to be every bit as hot as she was annoying and also extremely down for a quick fuck in the restroom and absolutely nothing more than that. Which is probably for the best, Jenny figures. Someone who isn't interested enough to take her home or even ask her name is far less likely to turn out to be a grifter or a control freak or a stalker with homicidal tendencies.
The last thing Jenny wants or needs is to get dragged into another one of the Dead Boy Detective Agency’s cases. Unfortunately, the universe has it out for her. At least the sex is good?
Public restrooms are nicer in London than in Port Townsend. Jenny's been told with a startling amount of vehemence by multiple people that they're nicer all over the UK than anywhere in the States, but she hasn't exactly done a personal survey of the country. Even with her limited experience of public restrooms—toilets, she thinks inanely; they're called toilets here—she can definitely say she's never been tempted to have sex in the toilet of a sketchy pub before.
"Your jeans are too damned tight," the woman whose name Jenny didn't bother asking complains between heated kisses.
"You seemed plenty happy with them when you were checking out my ass," Jenny points out, pausing in her quest to unfasten the truly stupid number of tiny buttons on the woman's shirt to help unfasten her own jeans.
Jenny didn't leave her flat planning to have a semi-public anonymous hookup.
And it's extremely unlikely Natalya would have been this talented with her fingers, holy fuck. Jenny makes a noise she's not at all proud of, head falling back against the wall of the toilet stall as the woman works her clit with deft fingers that don't seem at all hindered by the tightness of her jeans.
"Knew you'd be loud once I got you going," the woman says smugly, urging one of Jenny's legs up over her hip to give her better access.
Jenny wants to argue, but she's really not in any position for it, so she settles for unceremoniously pulling open the last of the buttons on the woman's shirt and finally getting her hands on her tits while doing her best to bite back the sounds she wants to be making.
The woman pushes into Jenny's touch with a pleased hum. "That wasn't a complaint, to be clear." She leans in, their difference in height being just enough to put her lips against Jenny's throat, over the racing beat of her pulse, as she says, "Let me hear you."
"Are you trying to get us kicked out?" Jenny asks even as she shifts her weight so that her own thigh is pressed firmly between the other woman's, and her thumbs brush over stiff nipples.
"Not gonna happen," the woman gasps, rolling her hips eagerly against Jenny's thigh. "The owner owes me."
Any attempt Jenny might have made to ask what exactly the owner owes is completely derailed by the woman sliding two of those clever fingers inside Jenny's cunt as she scrapes her teeth along Jenny's neck in sharp counterpoint. There's no hope of keeping quiet then, not with the woman's fingers inside her while her thumb works her clit, alternating sloppy kisses and sharp nips and sharper curses against Jenny's throat while she rides Jenny's thigh like it's her fucking job.
It's quick and it's frenzied and it's nothing at all like most of the sex Jenny has had in her life. It's also kind of amazing. She tilts her head down so she can capture that filthy mouth with her own, and then lets herself get lost in the slick slide of fingers and tongues, in the frantic rutting and the desperate, grasping pleasure that rises in her like a tidal wave: inevitable and devastating.
Jenny screams when she comes, not even caring anymore who might hear, especially with the woman gasping a litany of fuck, fuck, fuck as she works Jenny through the aftershocks, her own hips starting to stutter. Jenny has just enough piece of mind to grab the woman by the hips, pulling her tight against her thigh as she shudders through her own orgasm moments later.
They stay like that for a few moments as they catch their breath. Just as Jenny is starting to feel the faintest twinges of awkwardness—Do you kiss after a toilet stall hookup? Is that a thing? Should she say thank you? What's the etiquette here?—the woman pulls back with a soft laugh.
"Fuck, I needed that."
Jenny's agreement turns into a gasp as the woman pulls her fingers from Jenny's cunt, seeming to consider for half a second before popping them into her mouth and sucking them clean.
Jenny realizes she's staring and quickly looks away, busying herself with the process of refastening her jeans and making some vague attempt and straightening her clothes so she doesn't look quite so much like she just got extremely well-fucked by a complete stranger.
When she looks up again, the woman is fastening the last of the buttons on her shirt, looking far less flustered than Jenny feels.
"Right," Jenny says. "I'm gonna—" She gestures toward the exit. "Thanks," she adds, and then she leaves before she can find out if that was entirely the wrong thing to say.
She feels a brief moment of relief when she heads back out into the pub and the woman behind the bar doesn't give her a second glance—maybe she hadn't been quite so loud as she thought?—but then she sees how the three women at the table closest to the restroom are looking at her, and she ducks her head and hightails it out into the comforting blanket of fog that feels almost like home if she doesn't look or listen too closely.
She's halfway back to her flat before she realizes that she really does feel better, and much less tense than she has been since she arrived in London four months ago. Maybe even less tense than she's felt since before she watched the woman trying to kill her die a gruesome death in front of her and got possessed by a literal demon and watched her livelihood go up in flames and, oh yeah, started seeing ghosts.
Dammit.
Crystal is going to be so fucking smug when she finds out she was right.

"I take it the date went well?”
Briana is usually Jenny's favorite coworker, partly because she mixes a better drink than any other bartender Jenny's met, and partly because she doesn't usually ask about Jenny's personal life.
"It wasn't a date," Jenny says, reaching for her apron. "And anyway, she didn't show."
Briana studies her. "But you did have a good time last night." It's not a question.
"A better time than I'm having right now," Jenny tells her, pulling on her hair net.
Jenny is extremely grateful when Briana's questioning is interrupted by the arrival of their boss, who greets them with his ever-friendly smile.
"Ah, Jenny, do you have a minute before you start? I wanted to talk some scheduling with you."
"Sure thing," Jenny says, happily abandoning Briana and her prying in favor of following Rob back to the office.
When the insurance rep told Jenny exactly how long it was likely to take before she saw any money from the destruction of her butcher shop, she'd been livid. That lasted about an hour, until she realized she was in an unfamiliar city—an unfamiliar country—with no money to start fresh like she planned and exactly no experience working for anyone other than herself and before that her parents, at which point it turned to mild panic. When Edwin mentioned that the agency's landlord also owned a pub and had mentioned something about needing to hire new back of house staff, Jenny was extremely dubious. Not only was working a kitchen very different from running a butcher shop, but she was more than a little wary about working for the kind of guy who rented office space to a couple of teenage ghosts.
But Rob turned out to be a decent guy, and almost freakishly normal from everything Jenny's seen. He inherited the New Inn along with the building Charles and Edwin—and now Crystal—work out of and a few other properties from his favorite uncle, but that's the most remarkable thing about him other than the whole seeing and talking to ghosts thing, and she's hardly going to hold nearly drowning as a child against him. The man is a part-time history lecturer at City University and wears loafers, so Jenny figures he's pretty low on the list of people likely to drag her into more supernatural weirdness or attempted homicide, and he pays her better than she's probably worth given her lack of experience.
All in all, it's a pretty good deal, especially since Rob knows she'll be gone as soon as her insurance money comes through and she can find a decent shop space to rent.
Jenny stops dead in her tracks when she sees the two people already waiting in Rob's office.
"No," she says flatly, addressing the two ghosts—one leaning against the office wall and the other perched on the edge of Rob's desk—before turning on her boss. "What the hell, Rob? You said you wanted to talk about scheduling."
It's not that she has anything against Charles and Edwin, but Crystal's two ghost friends are private detectives who take jobs for other ghosts, and the fact that they're ambushing her at work suggests this isn't a social call. The last thing she wants is to get caught up in one of their cases. Again.
"This is about scheduling," Edwin says, "in part."
"We need an assist on our latest case and Robbie's got a friend with the right kind of skills," Charles adds.
"I figure it'll be safer for everyone involved if I make the introduction at the Inn." Rob's tone is apologetic. "You're the only one on staff unlikely to get freaked out if anyone gets shouty about things, so I was wondering if you'd mind closing up tonight so I can invite her over and make the introduction after close. I know you're only scheduled until ten, but I'm happy to pay you double for the extra hours."
"I don't mind closing," Jenny says, "but what's the catch?"
"No catch, I swear," Rob says, holding up his hands. "I wouldn't even ask, but I've got an early lecture tomorrow and would rather not be up prepping the kitchen by myself after I introduce the boys to my friend."
Despite the revelation that Rob apparently has a friend with skills to help Charles and Edwin on one of their cases, Jenny doesn't get the sense that he's trying to deceive her in any way.
She looks at Edwin. "You said 'in part.' So what's the catch."
"Ah," Edwin says, sliding off the desk. "It's not a catch, per se."
"Eds," Charles chides softly. "What he means is, we've got a message for you. From our client."
Jenny feels the bottom of her stomach drop out. "Your client?" she repeats. Their client can only mean another ghost. Someone who died.
"Natalya Mesi," Edwin says. "She wants you to know that she's very sorry for missing your appointment last night, but she was quite dead by then."
~~~
Rob is nice enough to give Jenny some privacy and a very stiff drink—on the house—after Charles and Edwin leave. She goes through the remainder of her shift in a daze, glad that the dinner rush doesn't prove to be too much for her distracted mind to handle and that Eoin doesn't comment on her much more frequent than usual minor fuckups. Jenny decides he's her new favorite coworker.
Crystal arrives just before closing, slipping back to the kitchen to give Jenny a quick, fierce hug.
"I'm sorry," she murmurs, and Jenny knows she's apologizing as much for pushing Jenny to download the dating app in the first place as expressing condolences for the death of a non-quite-acquaintance.
"I didn't even know her," Jenny says when Crystal releases her. "Not really."
"I'm still sorry," Crystal insists. "You didn't want to be involved in any of our cases, and I got you involved, sort of, so I'm sorry."
"If I were that worried about it, I would have stayed in Port Townsend," Jenny points out, as if staying in Port Townsend with the memories of Niko and Maxine and her parents and her shop and every person and every dream she's ever lost wouldn't have been a complete nightmare. But. She didn't have to come to London.
Crystal squeezes her arms and offers her a weak smile. "I'm glad you're here."
It's a slow enough night that there are no stragglers by the time closing rolls around, and Eoin is out the door in time for Rob to lock up behind him. Rob says something about his friend running late, and Jenny tries to ignore the two living humans and two ghosts talking quietly at a table in the corner while she cleans the grill and wipes down the counters and refills the condiment bottles, but her eyes keep drifting over to the only people who know the answer to the question that's been plaguing her since that afternoon. The question she didn't have the courage to ask at the time.
She makes it halfway through refilling the salt shakers before stalking over to the table and demanding, "How did Natalya die?"
The four at the table look up at her and then exchange uneasy glances with each other.
"We aren't exactly sure about that yet," Charles says. "That's sort of what we're investigating."
"But you know something," Jenny presses. "That's why you're here to meet Rob's friend, right? Because you found something you need help with?"
"We could be wrong, though," Crystal says. "And it's not anything you need to worry about—"
"All signs point to demonic activity," Rob interrupts, and Jenny is grateful to him for saying it even as the room starts to go fuzzy around the edges.
"The woman I was supposed to meet for drinks was murdered by a demon?" Jenny hardly recognizes her own voice, high-pitched and squeaky as it is.
"We don't know that a demon did the actual killing," Edwin explains, "but we're fairly certain a demon was involved. Your friend is actually quite lucky. A demon could have done far worse than kill her."
"She wasn't my friend," Jenny says faintly, grabbing for a nearby chair to keep herself upright before her knees give out completely.
She misses, and only Rob's quick reflexes save her from falling on her ass.
"I got you," he says as he hoists her with surprising strength into the chair she'd failed to grab onto. "Just breathe. You're safe. No demons here, I promise."
Jenny does her best to follow his instruction to breathe, trying to force her lungs to expand and contract in some sort of regular rhythm. It's not the first panic attack she's had in the past six months. It's not the tenth. But every one is as awful as the last.
She has no idea how long she spends struggling to calm her heart, her lungs, her mind, only that she's only just managed to start feeling like an actual person again when she's startled by the sound of the bells over the tavern's entrance. Which makes no sense, because didn't Rob lock the door?
Dazedly, Jenny looks up only to find the very last person she's expecting to see. She blinks her eyes several times, but the image doesn't change.
"Damn exorcism ran long," the woman says, shrugging out of her pale coat.
This time, Jenny notes a little hysterically, the shirt underneath doesn't have any of those absurd tiny buttons.
"Demons are not terribly respectful of your time, are they?" Rob says wryly. "These are the tenants I was telling you about. Charles, Edwin, and Crystal of the Dead Boy Detective Agency. And this is Jenny, who's on staff here at the New Inn.
“Everyone, this is Johanna Constantine. If you've a demon problem, she's the best person I can think of to help you solve it."
I'm trying to find the announcement of his deal for what rights were sold, but it's buried now with this news (so if you have it, do a girl a favour)
I'm a professional googler (i.e., a research librarian) and here's what I found.
The Daily Express has an article from July 2022 about the book that included the tweet Omid posted announcing it: "I can finally share that I'm working on a BRAND NEW BOOK!! So excited to be working again with Carrie Thornton at @deystreet @harpercollins (US) and MsLisaMilton at @hqstories."
(link: https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1648213/Meghan-Markle-Prince-Harry-book-omid-scobie-biography)
Next, when I searched for Scobie and Harper Collins together specifically, I found an article that talked some about the deal: "Scobie sold world English rights to a currently untitled book, set for 2023, to Carrie Thornton at Dey Street. Albert Lee at United Talent Agency brokered the deal on behalf of Scobie." The article's source is the August 2022 Publisher's Weekly announcement (linked within).
(article link: https://meaww.com/omid-scobie-all-set-to-write-new-book-about-meghan-markle-prince-harry-released-in-the-year-202)
Next I looked up everyone these articles ID'd.
Carrie Thornton and Dey Street (which is an imprint of Harper Collins) also published Finding Freedom. Dey Street has the North American's publishing rights.
Lisa Milton is the publishing agent for the UK and Commonwealth rights. (https://www.thebookseller.com/rights/hq-snaps-up-scobies-book-on-the-monarchys-fight-for-survival)
Albert Lee is a literary agent based in NYC. Before becoming a literary agent, he was an editor and a journalist. I think he was also instrumental in publishing Finding Freedom but I haven't been able to find confirmation.
I did try to search for Omid Scobie and Xander, limiting the date range from July 2022 to October 2023 (to exclude this week's tsnuami) but all the search results came back in Dutch, which I don't speak.
well well well, thank youuuuu my darling! let's have a lil Emma publishing lesson, shall we?! disclaimer: this applies only to selling rights for an English book to an English-speaking country, but I often sell my translation rights for my self-pubbed books so I'm used to this.
Publishers will take one of two options: World English, or World Rights. World English is what it says on the tin: English language rights, usually split between US and UK/Commonwealth. With this, you handle foreign translations yourself, although publishers will work together. World Rights is the whole shebang, including translations - when it's this, the publisher then shops around for translations and whatever the foreign publisher pays for it comes off your advance.
World English Rights means he sold just English and held on to foreign translation rights. Dey Street would have then sold the UK/Commonwealth rights to Harlequin, but Scobie's agent would have shopped the translation rights.
Which means Harlequin did not send the manuscript to Xander. Omid Scobie's agent did... and his agent would have sent the manuscript Omid Scobie provided as a final copy for translation.
I would be interested in a post about their management! I find that stuff interesting but I don’t know much about it
hi!!! firstly sorry it's taken me so long to get to this! 😭 also going to put this under the cut bc it got long lol :3 also this is more about their talent agents, idk if they have a dedicated manager doing what marianne used to do or if her job is now spread between different ppl/agencies
okay, so currently dan, phil, and danandphil are signed with InterTalent which is a talent agency. (dan is also signed w/ united talent agency, im assuming he's signed to two agencies bc UTA based in the US and intertalent is based in the UK? but his contact email on his yt channel goes to intertalent.)
dan's under the comedy division of intertalent which you can see on their website:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bc he's under comedy he's represented by hannah layton who is head of the comedy division. but if you go to her profile, she's assisted by someone named izzy whitaker, so I wouldn't be surprised if she's also worked with dan. and then as you can see on dan's profile his events are handled by olivia bertolotti. so already with just dan there's three ppl dealing with his stuff 😂
phil is signed under the digital creators division:
Tumblr media
he's represented by meisha kelly, who according to the website is the head of the sports division so lmao 💀 she only has one other digital creator client besides phil. and then his events are handled by the same person as dan (she's head of events so im assuming she handles a lot of people's events?)
dan and phil together, as dapg, are also signed, under the gaming division:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so dapg is represented by a different person (toby dobson) than dan and phil because they're in the gaming division. also side note im cracking up at the cat pic being the photo of choice for dapg?? 💀
so basically there's just a lot going on since all three d&p entities are in different divisions and therefore have different agents representing them
so on top of all that, there's audiencly which is an "influencer marketing agency," from what I can tell from their website they essentially just hook up content creators with brands for brand deals. they also do influencer management. dan and phil (again, as dapg) are listed as one of their "exclusive creators" so I'm assuming that their services don't overlap w/ intertalent much at all, but regardless they are also signed with audiencly. (also in case anyone is curious, they're listed under "variety" (not gaming))
Tumblr media Tumblr media
from what I can see there isn't an extensive list of brands that work with them, so I don't know if all of dan and phil's spons are through them or just some of them. but from their case study page we at least know that socialpoint (aka dragon city) and nordvpn work with them. we also know that evony (the knight game) works with them because the giveaway info is hosted on audiencly's website (this is actually how I found out about audiencly lmao 😭)
also if you care, their business managers/accounts are dales evans & co which you can find from their company information lol. they also do tour financial management which is im assuming why d&p chose them!!
so yeah that's pretty much it, or at least everything I know! :) also bc TIT is happening rn you also have AEG thrown in the mix, which is the tour producer/promoter (but obviously that won't last past the tour)
Pairings: Andrew Garfield x Photographer!Reader
Summary: In 2018 you met someone on a plane. You played board games and somehow that man stayed in your life. You've been pretty private until that man, love of your life spilled the guts during his interview with British GQ.
A/N: I watched Andrew's '10 essentials' video and somehow it produced this little Social Media story. Enjoy! Andrew articulates his thoughts very beautifully and philosophically, I tried to somehow embrace it.
gqbritish Andrew Garfield, man that became someone he'd dreamed of being. This month we interviewed one of the most wanted actors and (let's face it) men on planet Earth. How his SpiderMan movies changed his life? Is he in the newest MCU production with Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire? How friendships within and outside the Hollywood established him as a person? Click the link in our bio to get the (philosophical) answers to those and some more questions.
Andrew Garfield's search for ultimate philosophy of his life
Living the last year in Andrew's skin would be both - fulfilling and terrifying. Golden Globe win, an Emmy nomination, re-playing SpiderMan - Andrew is speaking about the freedom he feels while choosing his next projects. Not excluding the new experience, new life he'd been living since last year.
Tumblr media
Interviewer: I cannot not start this conversation with congratulating you.
Andrew: (blushing) Oh, thank you very much. Thank you.
I: You won a Golden Globe for your portrayal of Jonathan Larson in Tick, Tick...Boom!
A: Yeah. Super cool. Yes. It- you know how it can be with awards. I don't say I don't like them. It's pleasing to be recognised by the critics. But (scratching his beard) with this film it never was made for awards. Or I've never treated it like it. The storytelling of Jonathan's life, genius and impeccable talent was what I wanted to present as genuinely as it could be possible. Showing young and older people that this man did so much for theatre, for music, for people.
I: You definitely brought him to life.
A: That's- that's what I wanted. Thank you for acknowledging my pains.
I: Of course. I'd never deny someone's genius in acting.
A: No, no. Please no. I have this problem with that word. Genius is something that remarkable people could be blessed with. People making difference in the world, changing it for the better. No genius in my head. But like all words and feelings there is no universal meaning to them. So, in your understanding of the word: thank you.
I: You said about changing the world, but last year your world changed completely.
A: (smiling) Yes. Yes, it did.
I: You're a married man.
A: I am. I am married to the most delicate, understanding, caring, mesmerising woman I've ever met. I don't think my or your lifetime would be enough for me to express how much this woman changed my life. The- the absolute love I feel is one of the greatest feelings I've experienced. Such an eternal feeling.
I: It's not the only change, is it?
A: (laughs, while blushing) No.
I: Last year you welcomed your daughter in the world. You're a dad!
A: Yes! I finally can shamelessly make those ludicrous jokes. Even if not funny it's a dad joke.
I: How's that? Being a father?
A: Don't make me start. (laughs) At home, I have two rays of sunshine, beaming at me, making me absolutely awestruck. It's not helping when the little one is the picture of her mother - mind-bogglingly precious. It's- it's funny because my brother has kids. And whenever he spoke about how much he loved, appreciated and just - just valued them and his wife, I couldn't comprehend that. Love was always such a beautiful but mysterious feeling for me, somehow uncomprehending. And then YN came into my life. And little L was born. Those feelings just started burning my heart. My whole body. I still can't understand it. But it's so magical. You're really ready to do anything for that little human.
I: How are all the milestones?
A: Exciting. (tears up) Fuck. See? Oh God. Being so full of that love is- oh screw it. I'm done. (laughs)
I: What are your plans?
A: There's not many of them. We're trying to live the moment with YN, appreciate the joy that Universe gave us - little Lynn. We're living from one milestone to the other. From her first smile, through first prattle, first solo sitting situation to those attempts of the first word. I'm not the youngest, the big 40 is waiting around the corner, and experiencing those joys with my love is, I think, the essence of my existence.
I: Do you think without that you'd be lost?
I: Fullfilled.
A: I don't know. Maybe. Probably. It's a big thing to derive your happiness from other people, even if it's your absolute partner and child. It's dangerous. (Andrew thinks for a moment.) That's why I surf. It clears my mind, brings me my own, autarcik joy. It's something that is only mine. YN isn't a fan of surfing, but accepts and supports my endeavours. So to answer your question, without them my existence wouldn't feel pure. They make me complete.
A: Yes. It's strange getting to know in your late 30s that you lack so much. That your life could be so different if you met that on person earlier or not at all. There always was that perpetual search in me, for meaning of life, for love, for - you know - answers. Why, why why. There still is that search, but now I can just leave one room and go look for my wife and talk to her about it, search together. Or I can find my daughter, hug her and speak to her, sing. And even though she, for now, only can be a blabbery little human, the search is united.
I: What do you wish for now, in your life?
A: Like a dad would say, health. (laughs) My dad has so fun with calling me out on sounding just like him. I do. I do sound just like him. That's what fathers do apparently.
💥💰 Revealed: The Secret Empire of the Rothschilds, Rockefellers, and Morgans 💰💥
Prepare to uncover the shocking truth about the world's most influential families and their iron grip on the global economy. The Federal Reserve Cartel, comprised of the Rothschilds, Rockefellers, and Morgans, holds unparalleled power that extends far beyond the realm of oil.
Picture this: The Four Horsemen of Banking, including Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Citigroup, and Wells Fargo, join forces with the Four Horsemen of Oil, such as Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch/Shell, BP, and Chevron Texaco. But their domination doesn't stop there. They have extended their reach to encompass the music industry through an intricate network of private banks. These behemoths, along with Deutsche Bank, BNP, Barclays, and other European old money giants, control the strings of the music industry, enabling them to dictate its direction and influence.
The nefarious deeds of the Rockefeller dynasty are far-reaching, starting with their military-commercialization of music in the early 1900s. They orchestrated a diabolical plan to shift the world's standard tuning of music to 440 pitch. This insidious frequency was known to provoke greater aggression, psychosocial agitation, emotional distress, and even physical illnesses. Behind the scenes, this manipulation led to financial gains for those complicit in the monopoly, including agents, agencies, and companies connected to the North American Rockefeller crime cartel and elite organizations.
Fast forward to the late 1980s, when the Rockefellers summoned the top music executives and talent to a highly secretive meeting in Los Angeles. Their sinister agenda? To usher in the era of Controlled Rap Music, tightly linked to the privatization of U.S. prisons. These privately owned prisons, operated by the Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Bush family, and other influential figures, served as money laundering operations, tax exemption schemes, and pyramid scheme operations.
The Rockefellers devised a cunning plan to control the rap industry and target black communities by promoting violent music that fueled oppression and civil unrest. They brought together top executives and leading black artists, binding them with confidentiality agreements. Their objective was clear: coordinate the violence within the rap music movement, while major record labels gained exclusive rights for production and distribution across the United States. As a reward, they would receive shares and points within the private prison systems.
The Masonic plan unfolded with precision, resulting in over 1,500 private prison systems housing more than 1 million black teenagers by 1990. These vulnerable youths, expressing the generational trauma imposed upon them, unknowingly contributed to the Rockefellers' malevolent scheme. The private prison systems reaped billions annually from the government, creating a vast money laundering network through inflated products, such as ramen noodles priced 8 times higher than their actual value. The flow of hundreds of billions from government funding, pyramid schemes, and insurance companies transformed the privatization of prisons into a multi-trillion-dollar venture.
Local courts and judges mercilessly sentenced petty criminals and first-time offenders, filling the ever-expanding private prisons. As a result, the United States now holds the dubious record for the highest number of incarcerated individuals in the world, with an unprecedented number of prisons. This was not an accident—it was a meticulously orchestrated plan by the Rockefellers.
But their influence doesn't end there. These silent thieves also manipulate elections, ensuring their grip on power remains unbroken.
Unmasking the true face of those who control the world, the Rothschilds and Rockefellers find themselves in the crosshairs of military alliance operations aimed at dismantling the Rothschilds' deep state power in Europe, the UK, Russia, and China.
Are you connecting the DOTS? 🤔
Alright. Let do this right …
Tumblr media
This is my reread of the Lockwood and Co. Books, organized by @blue-boxes-magic-and-tea, I'll make a general summary of several chapters and then post bits and pieces that jumped out at me.
Part I, Chapters 1-2:
I really love the start to this series; the reader is trusted with so much information in such a short time and it’s all well communicated. There’s a Problem - ghosts are real and dangerous. There’s a curfew. Adults are seemingly useless. Kids are thrown into danger via Agencies. Agencies can be small and independent or large corporations with ties to government. There are ghost types. There are talent categories. The capitalism and bureaucracy of it all is very interestingly presented. The narrator is both a child and someone with near noir levels of damage and world weariness. The dialogue is fun and snappy but it's not ever just there for the sake of being there, it reveals bits and pieces of the universe and on re-read you can tell Stroud had all five books laid out somewhat solidly in his mind as he went because from the beginning there’s little dropped details dropped in conversation about, say, Kent being the origin of The Problem - an innocuous bit of lore until it becomes important four books later. Within the first two chapters the trio of main characters are introduced, Lucy and Lockwood's talents are described, their relationship is established. So much done in so little time. I love how concise and evocative it all is.
Bits and pieces:
Tumblr media
Obsessed with the idea that the culture in this version of the UK is so lowkey conservative that this poor woman is possibly being haunted by a ghost because her hemline is too short. Can and probably will write a whole thesis about how I think post war Britain conservatism probably never left in this universe and that's why there's a chipper KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON mentality while fucking kids are sent to almost certain death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucy Carlyle, Junior Field Operative only six months with the agency and hired without full agent accreditation, lecturing her boss who’s also her landlord on what not to do and calling him an idiot is so funny to me like, get his ass! Don’t take shit from anyone!
Tumblr media
This is only my pet theory, but I think both the fact that Lockwood sees death glows so intensely that he needs sunglasses, and the fact that he can see ones of small mammals, not just humans, is an indication that his Talent is unusually strong. George probably has what is an average amount of Sight for an agent, that is enough to see apparitions and some death glows but not so much as to be overwhelming.
Tumblr media
This is such a wonderfully grim evocative visual of what these children do. Deadly difficult and psychologically damaging labor. Every house could be their coffin. Every assignment could be their last. Their country, their government, in many cases their parents, have already given up on them, the powers that run the country no longer invest in the future of children because children are seen as disposable. Young potential is sacrificed to protect adults comfortably scared in their own protected homes. And this produces a grim, defeatist kind of existence in everyone. If the older generation is not working toward a better future for a new generation of humanity, what are we doing? There's something borderline “Children of Men” depressing about this reality.
Tumblr media
When I was first reading this series this was the point when i realized these books are going to be aggressively British.
Tumblr media
Murder, Lockwood. She's contemplating your actual murder. You're lucky you're cute.
Ok I’m starting an official Lucy describes Lockwood’s smile counter: 2
📝ENG Translation: When Italians sing out loud in Slovene
Tumblr media
Article written by Urška Petaros and published by Primorski dnevnik on 30.3.2024, English translation by TT katysmusic77 and @kurooscoffee, proofread by IG GBoleyn123.
Shortened version of the article available here. Check the end of this post for full article scans.
As a part of their 'See You Soon' European tour, the Slovenian rock group performed in Padua. They gained their fame through Eurovision.
A lot of musicians have already proven that the Eurovision stage can help you gain popularity. The band Joker Out have also made the most out of their eurovision experience. If the rockers have already achieved everything they could in Slovenia, given that they hava already sold out the biggest arena in Slovenia, named Stožice, group of five friends and talented musicians have managed to spread their songs and Slovene music amongst the fans of other European countries as well.
They started their European tour at the beginning of March, during which they visited 21 cities in 13 countries (after Easter the group will have three more gigs in the UK). Their last gig before the holiday break was in Padua.We went to the concert even though the Italian press agency, who was in charge of the organisation, didn’t want to give us accreditation. Two girls from Florence confirmed it was hard for the non-citizens to get to the venue, because of its remote location, but when the protagonists of the evening came on stage all of this was forgotten.
The Slovenian rockers started the concert with hits from their first two albums like 'Gola', 'Vem da greš' and 'Katrina'. The crowd In Padua Hall maybe wasn’t as loud as at some other concerts in bigger venues, which the band have sold out in some other countries, but given the closeness of Padua, there were a lot of Slovenian fans; that being said, people from diferent parts of Italy formed the majority of the public.
First hits and unreleased songs
Joker out performed some of their original songs in Serbian too, called 'Ona' and 'Demoni' and their last English single 'Everybody's Waiting', which Bojan dedicated to every person "who ever experienced panic attacks". They hyped the crowd by performing two unreleased songs- 'Šta bih ja' and 'Bluza', which already gained popularity online with the help of amateur videos from different European cities, so the most loyal fans have already mastered the lyrics and sang with the band. The band still has to record the new songs, so the fans will have to wait a bit for the official release of the studio versions, but during the concert it was confirmed that they plan to release the new album at the end of September.
For the song 'Metulji', Jan Peteh switched his guitar for the piano, but the performances from every single one of the members deserves praise: Jure Maček played the drums masterfully, Kris Guštin was playing different guitars and provided backing vocals alongside their bass player Jordan. Cvjetićanin knew how to hype the crowd by giving thanks in italian many times.
It all started with Carpe Diem
At the beginning of the concert, the singer already promised that the event will be multiligual: and it was; the boys sang in Slovene. Serbian and English (during 'Tokio' also in 'Japanese'). While singing 'Umazane misli'' the singer got off stage to join the crowd and organized a karaoke session. He encouraged people to sing in various languages (from Italian to Finnish), some having the lyrics written down to help them.
Joker Out finished the hour-long concert with a song "that changed their lives". It was 'Carpe Diem', which they presented at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool, which gained them popularity in Europe and signified the start of their international career. With the encore an acoustic version of 'Novi val' (guitar and vocal), the boys expressed their desire for peace and a world without wars. Even though they have English versions of both songs, the boys performed them in their native tongue on the stage in Padua.
Watcher family? Waiting for more Ghost Files? In the meantime may I introduce you to Lockwood & Co., which is essentially Ghost Files as a TV show!
We follow 3 talent psychic youths who battle spirits (known as Visitors) in an alternate UK which 50 years ago was overrun with an epidemic of hauntings.
Since then, agencies have been created which employ young people (your ability to hear, see and sense ghosts fade as you get older) to fight off the spectral forces using iron, silver and magnesium. Ghosts are particularly dangerous in this world - if one touches you, you die.
So if you want more ghost hunting infused with talking skulls in jars, humour, horror and found family, please consider watching the show!
Featuring:
- Anthony Lockwood as Shane (he likes to taunt the ghosts)
- Lucy Carlyle as Ryan (she is a little more empathetic toward them)
For your consideration:
I just had an anon bring up a good point but I am not going to publish the anon. The reason being that some of the language used in it is not something I want to put on this blog. It's nothing that offends me. However, I get enough hate as it is and I think there are nicer ways to phrase what this person said. Since I'm trying to avoid hate at all costs I will just rephrase and address it as I think they made good points.
The anon pointed out that tattoos are expensive. They aren't wrong. I have a few tattoos myself. Not a tonne but enough to know they can get pricey. Even small ones are going to be $150 or so. Jess has almost her entire body covered (as the anon pointed out). This is going to range into the thousands or even tens of thousands all depending on where Jess got the tattoos, how much she was charged for them etc.
Then we have to look at the surgery she more than likely had done. A quick Google search says that buccal fat removal (on average) can cost anywhere between $2000 to $5000 dollars but it can go up to $20,000. This all depends on the place you go, if there are any complications, how much you want removed etc.
The average cost of lip filler injections seems to be around $1000 dollars and that's something she'd have to keep getting because over time filler migrates.
Cheek fillers which she's more than likely getting can be anywhere between $500-$1000 per syringe used. There could be multiple used to get the look she wants.
The total price of breast implants can range from $5,100 to $19,000 on average, but once again it could be a lot more based on what surgeon you go to and if there are any complications.
This is all just stuff that's kind of obvious that she's had done. She's also potentially done other things to her face like a facelift. It definitely looks like she's getting Botox. So we are looking a lot of money here just to transform her face. Then add that to the cost of all her tattoos and the fact that she will constantly have to get the ones on her hands touched up. Less than getting it the first time but still a couple hundred dollars every few months, along with the lip fillers and the other injections.
The average salary for a talent manager in the UK (when she'd have been working at Donna Management) is about $60,000 per year. Then, she left that job and was....well I don't know what she was doing but I doubt she was making millions. As the anon pointed out this leaves a big open question to how (in this period of time) did she afford what had to be hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of surgery and tattoos. On her former salary she couldn't have been saving much and living comfortably. She was probably making even less than that when she started her own company to "freelance".
So, as the anon also pointed out there's only a few options we can consider here. One of them is having a sugar daddy, another one is scamming people out of money, and yet another one is sleeping with people in exchange for money, goods, or services. I suppose it's possible she had something resembling a trust fund or her father gave her a bunch of money to ruin her face and body, so that's another option but she wouldn't have made the money herself. It would have had to come from another source.
Now we have to consider that she's had all of this done, all of the upkeep and management. Even if she still is a talent manager currently (and we know she's not because she doesn't even have a license to be one) we are looking at thousands a month in maintenance based on the injections she needs to get, the skin care products she apparently uses, the hair care and hair extension stuff, and the tattoo touch ups. Even if she is working some level of job she's not affording all of this by herself. There's no way Jamie isn't the one footing the bill for it now and god only knows what else she needs in her life.
Since we know Jess isn't a millionaire with a million dollar successful talent agency and she never was one with the jobs she had before this...it does make me wonder how she ever afforded all these body modifications in the first place, who paid for them, how, and why she went to such extreme lengths to make herself look less beautiful than she already did. I guess the take away point from all of this is Jess has set up her entire life to have other people buy her things. Jamie is more of a wallet to her than a boyfriend.
The US is widely seen as the global leader in artificial intelligence, thanks to companies like OpenAI, Google, and Meta. But the US government says it needs help from other nations to manage the risks posed by AI technology.
At an international summit on AI Safety in Seoul on Tuesday, the US delivered a message from Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announcing that a global network of AI safety institutes spanning the US, UK, Japan, Canada, and other allies will collaborate to contain the technology’s risks. She also urged other countries to join up.
“Recent advances in AI carry exciting, life-changing potential for our society, but only if we do the hard work to mitigate the very real dangers,” Secretary Raimondo said in a statement released ahead of the announcement. “It is paramount that we get this right and that we do so in concert with our partners around the world to ensure the rules of the road on AI are written by societies that uphold human rights, safety, and trust.”
The US government has previously said advances in AI create national security risks, including the potential to automate or accelerate the development of bioweapons or to enable more damaging cyberattacks on critical infrastructure.
One challenge for the US, alluded to in Raimondo’s statement, is that some national governments may not be eager to fall in line with its approach to AI. She said the US, the UK, Japan, Canada, Singapore, and the European AI Office would work together as the founding members of a “global network of AI safety institutes.”
The Commerce Department declined to comment on whether China had been invited to join the new AI safety network. Fears that China will use advanced AI to empower its military or threaten the US led first the Trump administration and now the Biden administration to roll out a series of restrictions on Chinese access to key technology.
The US and China have at least opened a line of communication. A meeting between President Biden and Chinese president Xi Jinping in November saw the two superpowers agree to hold talks on AI risks and safety. Representatives from the nations met in Switzerland last week to hold the first round of discussions.
The Commerce Department said that representatives of the new global AI safety network’s members will meet in San Francisco later this year. A blueprint issued by the agency says that the network will work together to develop and agree upon methodologies and tools for evaluating AI models and ways to mitigate the risks of AI. “We hope to help develop the science and practices that underpin future arrangements for international AI governance,” the document says. A commerce department spokesperson said that the network would help nations tap into talent, experiment more quickly, and agree on AI standards.
The Seoul summit on AI safety this week is cohosted by the UK government, which convened the first major international meeting on the topic last November. That summit culminated in more than 28 countries including the US, members of the EU, and China signing a declaration warning that artificial intelligence is advancing with such speed and uncertainty that it could cause “serious, even catastrophic, harm.”
Amid rapid deployment of generative AI systems like ChatGPT last year, some prominent researchers and tech leaders began to speak more loudly about the potential for AI algorithms to become difficult to control and perhaps even a threat to humanity. Talk of the most far-off threats has since faded, but policymakers around the world are concerned about more immediate problems, such as the potential for generative AI tools like ChatGPT to spread disinformation and interfere with elections. In January, some voters in New Hampshire received robocalls using an AI-generated fake of Joe Biden’s voice.
Last October, President Biden issued a wide-ranging executive order to address the potential and pitfalls of fast-moving leaps in AI most evident with the startling abilities of ChatGPT. The Commerce Department was ordered to work on a number of initiatives to develop AI safety standards and also to develop a plan for global “engagement on promoting and developing AI standards.”
Biden’s executive order also required the US National Institute of Standards and Technology, which is part of the Commerce Department, to establish a US AI Safety Institute to systematically test AI models to understand how they could be misused and how they might behave.
