Welcome to Language Week 2024!

A new event that me and my friends have decided to organize from the 22nd of July to the 28th of July!

What is Language Week?

Language week is a week where non English speaking people post exclusively in their native language (ex: French, German, Hindi, etc...)

Are anglophones excluded from the event then?

Not at all! This event is a celebration of all the different cultures that compose the internet! This means anyone can participate in this event! We have even created themes for each day so you (everyone) can speak about your culture!

What are the themes then?

22nd: Food

23rd: Tradition

24th: Legends/folklore

25th: Songs/music

26th: History

27th: Arts

28th: Free day

You can use these themes to draw/write/talk about your favorite things from your culture/country! These can also be used if you have no inspiration!

Above all, we hope you participate in and enjoy celebrating the different cultures that shape the internet!!!

Someone mentioned wanting me to share the posters I have around my VotV base in the tags so thought I'd do that. If you don't care about that then uhhhhhhhh-

I have this poster from Portal 2 in my the little Administration Booth thingy, I originally put it up to remind the mannequin I had trapped in here that they're not allowed to do anything but work! Unfortunately said mannequin did break out. But don't worry, I caught them again and have since locked them up in the basement to learn their lesson. Source: This rip of it from the game I found on a random wiki.

I have another Portal 2 poster in my hallway to help remind me to be safe! I need to eventually alter it to help reflect the exact situations that occur out here in this forest, however. Source: the exact person who posted this hi-quality version on Reddit has deleted there account -I have no idea why- but this Imgur link still has it.

I originally found this poster while trying to search for the coffee poster that appeared in the earlier version of VotV -I've since learned that poster was made custom by someone of the VotV discord- and found someone trying to do the same on Reddit found this gem instead, and I knew I had to use it. However, as a avid coffee drinker I can tell you that it's almost impossible to NOT commit some amount of murder when you have caffeine in your system, so I thought I would alter the poster to reflect this truth! So here's that edited version:

last song: been listening to hollowheart and being melancholic a lot recently, its still so wild to me to just suddenly have a new worlds song after 10 years and be blasted back to the bittersweet nostalgia of being a teenager (someone should make a song about this). also weve been trying to learn to play our bass again recently after not touching it for like 4 years and hollowheart (and goodbye to a world) are the songs weve figured out how to play to so far

last movie: the other night we were bored and browsing random movies to watch and picked werewolves (2024), it was weird?? like it was almost a zombie movie but with werewolves?? the werewolves were practical costumes which was cool in a world where most things are cgi, but they looked kinda uncanny and definitely like costumes. ALSO THEY HAD NO TAILS WHICH WAS WEIRD AND VERY VERY WRONG. it was honestly a really mid movie but a couple people got torn in half in a satisfying way and there was a little black girl who kinda looked like us so it was alright

currently watching: uhhhhhhh i finished arcane a few weeks ago, and dandadan ended last week so uhhhhh, ig we watched the first episode of squid game season 2 last night. they put people in like, straight up kink gags???? it was a very weird detail

currently reading: fuck im ngl i dont read that much ik i need to, i mean ig unless manga counts in which ive been reading dandadan and chainsaw man week to week for a while now, and i need to check back up on the countless yuri manga i caught up to and had to wait for new chapters to come out....

current obsession: i dont think i have a Specific and Defined obsession rn? ive got my general interests but no current Hyperfixation. im like a knight with no princess to protect, a maid with no mistress, an angel with no goddess, meat with no blood. i wander aimlessly to find what will fill my soul, but for now i have no purpose, no place to belong. there is a drought, not a single drop of rain has fallen for eons. the world is barren and dry, devoid of life and hope. lol im sure somethin will stick its fingers in my brain and consume my life essence soon enough :P

Do you have any tips or tricks for people that are thinking about doing voice acting for asmr, I want to try it out but I have no clue where to start ;w;

uhhhhhhhh i'm really not good at answering these questions, my brain doesn't work well with broad questions so i don't know what kind of tips or tricks you're looking for, if you're asking about acting or recording or editing or something else. the tism doesn't work with questions like these.

also because i don't think my tips are useful? or if i have any? i've never taken an acting class, never taken a voice acting class, never done any research or even watched a youtube video at how to do or how to get better at these things.

whenever people me about acting and improvising (all my audios are improvised) i'm sorry but i don't have good tips. i don't know why i'm able to do these things, i've never been taught and i've never practised... unless you count what i wouldn't recommend or call a tip; i started maladaptive daydream as a mentally ill teen who had no friends, and how i daydream as an autistic person who internal monologues out loud because it's hard to process my own thoughts if i say them in my head, is to daydream out loud like as if i'm playing pretend with imaginary friends, saying all my self-insert characters lines out loud. i struggle with maladaptive daydreaming less now, but it still happens. i cannot call this a tip. maladaptive daydreaming gets romanticised too much in my opinion, but it's not something someone should want. uncontrollably daydreaming when you're hanging out with people, when you're in class, when you're supposed to be getting work done is not fun. i used to blackout on walks back from school on my own because i was daydreaming so hard and only come to once i was on the street where my house is and realise i'd just crossed so many roads of traffic and been mentally not in reality while my body was on autopilot. maladaptive daydreaming isn't something you should want. it is what allowed me to i guess have years of practise at improvising stories and acting, but it's not how you should go about things. if someone asks how i improvise and act it's honestly just having a history of maladaptive daydreaming and an overactive imagination.

Most badass character: Katrielle

Pairing I am not a fan of: Sorry, people who ship Katrielle and Ernest...I just can't really see Katrielle reciprocating his feelings. I think seeing more nuanced portrayals of their relationships that dug into how Case 12 affects them would help, but I don't think I could ever really see it.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Ernest. The twist with him could REALLY have used more foreshadowing (like how he would react to Katrielle getting buddy-buddy with the Seven Dragons, for instance).

Favourite friendship: I do feel strongly about Katrielle & Ernest's friendship. I think...they're similar to how I feel about Claire & Dimitri, but with much lower stakes due to being nowhere nearly as tragic.

when or if I started shipping it: It was Katrielle Layton: Wanted that really cemented it for me.

my thoughts: I really like Emiliana growing to care for Katrielle and respect her as a rival and as a friend, as well as developing respect for Katrielle's methodology.

What makes me happy about them: Rivals to lovers is a really fun trope.

What makes me sad about them: Emiliana has a pretty strict moral framework that I think is not impossible to reconcile with Katrielle, but will take a lot of work to really develop.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: This isn't really a bad thing, but I do wish there was a little less 100% fluff in the tag. It doesn't annoy me, I like the fluff, but I wish there was more variety.

Things I look for in fanfic: I'd love more stuff like the fic I wrote last year, but not written by me, lmao

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I respect the people who ship Katrielle and Lucy immensely.

My unpopular opinion about this character: uhhhhhhhh I don't even know what the popular opinions are, ngl. I guess...I wish we had gotten more pre-canon flashbacks to establish her dynamics with the Whistlers?

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I think she should take a break from music and figure out if she wants it for herself or if she wanted it because Melina was by her side doing it. I think she ultimately comes to the conclusion that she does like it, though.

My OT3: a while ago @magicwhiskers29 and I were kicking around an Emmy/Janice/Melina triad after I shared some lines from my Janice/Emmy fic with her about how both Janice & Melina admired Emmy and her abilities. in my head there's also a version of this where Janice and Melina are still sharing a body when this happens
