"More rain…" Lucile sighed, gazing up at the tumultuous sky. The clouds rolled in like dark, brooding waves. "But it’s still light. We’d best make our way to the church before it turns into a downpour."

With a groan, Josephine swung her legs over the edge of the bed, her hand instinctively cradling her swollen belly. “ The last thing we need is to be stuck in this cold, wet tent. I’ll cover the beddings.”

"Love, you don't have to do that," Lucile said, her voice a mix of firmness and tenderness. "I'll take care of the beddings. You just focus on getting ready, alright?"

"Oh, Lucile, you’ve coddled me enough. You worry too much. Always treating me like I’m a fragile porcelain doll."

Lucile grasped Josephine’s hands, “Oh, do you want me to stop? As you wish, my lady. Be ready in a few minutes,” she said with an exaggerated flourish.

"Well! Yes, but perhaps not so quickly!"

"Ooh, I see. The princess is feeling a bit fickle this morning? Stop, but don't stop too quickly, she commands." " Fair. " Josephine laughed " Don't stop just, be a bit more lenient. "

"Alright If I must...Truthfully," Lucile asked, her voice growing soft, "are you comfortable?"

"Of course! As much as I can be. I'd still be struggling to get up from the floor if it weren’t for the cot you got me. But you worry a bit too much."

"You do realize that despite my shape, I am not Humpty Dumpty? I won't fall and shatter."

"I know, but it’s my duty to be ready if you do. So I can pick up the pieces and put you back together again."

Lucile placed a tender kiss on Josephine's cheek, her lips whispering into her ear. "So, would the princess allow me to help her button her shoes, or is that too much?"

There was a moment of silence, Finally, Josephine sighed in relief, her resolve softening. "Please. I can barely see my feet."

Their heels sloshed through the rain-soaked earth, each step a battle against the muck and mire. The journey was longer without the option to ride Lady, Josephine’s condition making the risk too great.

"Praise the Lord! Another minute and we would've drowned," Lucile chuckled as they burst into the church, shaking off the rain like bedraggled cats.

"Lucile, I don’t know if I can run like that again. I—"

"Looks like the rain's brought in some new faces!"

Oh dear, was it Sunday already? Their entrance drew the curious eyes of the congregation, a few whispers threading through the air.

"Come, join us," the reverend called from the pulpit, his voice warm and inviting. He gestured them forward before resuming his sermon.

Mustering sheepish smiles, they slipped into an empty pew at the back, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible.

Despite their noisy arrival, the service unfolded with comforting familiarity. Lucile couldn’t remember the last time she attended a service with so many people.

She had faint memories of her mother carrying her to church as a child, back when they were still a close-knit family in the Bramblewoods. But Those memories were like sunbeams through a canopy, fleeting and precious.

It felt strange, yet good. The crowd was overwhelming, but the old, modest church with its worn pews and flickering candles...

It felt almost like home.

Seth adjusts the black mesh shirt over his torso, making sure it clings to him right above the cut of his abs.

"You look like a slut," Mox says, a little too conversationally for the way he's glaring at Seth. "That's not fair. You can't be hot and a slut."

Seth shrugs, wiggling his neon-pink clad butt at Mox. "You'll find some hot guy to take you home. Don't worry." He winks. "Are these shorts too short?"

"Don't do the Posh Spice bit," Mox pleads. "You don't need it."

Seth grins and hikes the shorts up a little more. "Better?"

"I hate you."

"You don't!"

The music is so loud that they can hear it as they skip toward the venue. Well. Seth is skipping. Mox is moodily trudging behind him.

"You're so fucking boring," Seth says, sliding into the line. "If you'd let me put you in that harness, you'd have guys crawling all over you by now."

Mox rolls his eyes. "It was itchy. I won't wear itchy stuff. You know that."

Seth shrugs. The music shifts to something distinctly EuroPop. "Oh, perfect."

"Next week we're going to a sports bar," Mox huffs. "It's so fuckin' loud."

Mox and Seth argue over the merits of sports bars vs. dance clubs until they're in front of the door, hit with a delicious wall of air conditioning.

"ID please," says a voice that nearly strips the shorts off of Seth on its own.

Seth looks up to see a gigantic, looming bodyguard, from whom he guesses the accent came from. He grins. "Sure," Seth says, fluttering his eyelashes. "But I think I'd rather do you in the backseat of my car."

"We walked here," Mox groans. "Stop hitting on people with factually incorrect pickup lines."

"Factually incor - do you hear this guy?" Seth asks the bouncer. His eyes are still locked on the gaps in Seth's shirt, so he thinks he's still doing okay. "God, what I would do to spend time with a real man."

"I'm the bouncer," he says. "I'm not here to pick up guys. Just to check IDs and kick out anyone who's being reckless."

Seth pouts. "Can't I be a little reckless?"

He rolls his eyes, but leans down. "If you stay around until my shift ends, maybe I'll show you what happens if you get on the bouncer's bad side."

Seth grins. "Don't make promises you can't keep."

"Don't antagonize me," he replies, accent going directly to Seth's dick. "ID."

Seth hands it to him. "I can write my number on the back, if that helps."

"it doesn't," the bouncer says. "But, since I know you're called Seth, I'm Drew."

"Drew," Seth says, testing the name in his mouth. "I'll see you later tonight, then."

Seth is buzzing with adrenaline as they walk into the bar, the music crashing into them and filling Seth with the kind of excitement only this kind of a place could create.

"I can't believe you picked up the bouncer."

Seth turns to Mox, who, for once, looks impressed and happy walking into a bar. "Why? Did you underestimate me that criminally?"

"No," Mox says, "but your hair is sticking up in the back, and I'm shocked the guy went for you."

I understand how some people feel invincible against covid. They don't pay attention or simply don't believe in the probability of covid disabling them or killing them. It's absurd and ignorant but I can understand it to an extent. What I don't understand is the selfishness of acting like you can take your invincible attitude and apply it to others in your community.

Taking precautions against covid isn't just self-care. It's community-care. Very basic community care. Even if you don't know of a disabled person in your community, you can still easily disable someone by carrying covid or just straight up kill someone. You can set them back in life with hospital costs n shit. And even disregarding covid, you should be taking precautions not to spread viruses like that in general.

So while I don't care about how worried people are about personally catching covid, I cannot understand not taking precautions and keeping up with masking (as long as you're able).

It's the selfishness that loses me. The idea of not caring about other people to the extent of being cruel, of being dangerous is horrifying to me.

i figured out the relative frequency of each letter and tried to solve it that way by replacing the most common letter (which is x) with the most common letter in english (e), and so on for all the other letters, but that didn't seem to work. i don't have many other ideas for how to solve it.

it's also interesting that it's always the same number of characters as the corresponding lyric, despite the fact that the scrambled text doesn't just translate into that lyric. i'm not sure what this means yet. any other adm fans, let me know if you make any leads on this! i'm very curious to find out what it all means :)
