Back Pain & Lung Cancer: What's The Association With Them?
Tumblr media
Back pain is a common symptom of many conditions, including lung cancer. Lung cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the lungs and can spread to other parts of the body. The association between back pain and lung cancer is that back pain is often a symptom of advanced lung cancer. As the cancer grows, it can press on the spine and cause pain in the back. However, it is important to note that back pain can also be caused by a variety of other conditions such as muscle strain, arthritis, and even just poor posture. Therefore, back pain alone is not a definitive indicator of lung cancer. If you are experiencing back pain and are concerned about lung cancer, it is important to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis and evaluation. A combination of imaging, blood test and biopsy may be needed to make a definitive diagnosis of lung cancer.

DP x DC ramble: Types of power
Now, in this particular fandom, there’s a tendency to make an OP Danny
That’s a neutral statement, a lot of people just happen to like and post OP Danny
For the most part, not my taste but it can be fun in some contexts, but overpowered Danny isn’t my default
Now, Danny is physically strong. His abilities are combat focused and he can hold his own in a fight. He probably has a little less physical strength than you’d think since he uses gravity nullification to lift heavy things, but it’s impressive regardless. He has a goodly variety of offensive and defensive abilities that make him formidable is a fight
But the strongest characters in DC aren’t necessarily strong in that way
Superman is physically very strong, incredibly powerful, but he’s still nowhere near the level of the actual strongest characters, because their power is a very different type
Like I’m talking reality manipulation, omniscience, abilities that involve power over people’s very souls (and a ghost is a human soul) and where they end up. Psychopomps and some much more. I’m talking about beings that can mold the flesh of humans to remove something like a cancer and repair damage with barely a thought
And they’re mainly held in check by rules, mostly just being polite, sometimes Divine laws
This is a type of power Danny is not equipped to handle
It’s a very different game than Danny is playing. He can physically throw down, he might have an army if it’s Ghost King AU, but this is “can kill you with a literal snap and the snap is just for dramatic effect” territory
Danny is playing high school American football, these characters are playing Professional soccer aka what every other country calls football
It’s a very different game, and if he’s trying to play with them, he’s going to struggle
And that’s fine, he can still be OP and not be playing on the same field as Lucifer, or the Spectre, or various demon lords and so on, because it’s a different kind of power
But just arbitrarily saying he’s more powerful really undersells why they are powerful. Being able to punch good is not the same as a character that can just send him to the afterlife. Someone being able to reshape Danny’s body at their will isn’t going to be concerned about his ecto blasts
A Tuna is a big fish, but the ocean is VAST and DEEP
All this to say you’d have to drastically alter Danny’s actual power set to make him able to compete, otherwise you’re just de-powering the actual strongest characters, which is less impressive since it missed the point of WHY they were strong
Just because you can solve a sheet of math problems doesn’t mean you’re going to be able to ace a three page essay on the poetry of Keats
This has been my thoughts on the matter, be sure to grab a souvenir from the gift shop
Also just going to sneak this in:
Danny should probably be more concerned about magic users
Magic clearly can affect him, just look at the Freak Show incident from season one, that’s not even getting into the reality gauntlet. Now add in the fact that there’s a variety of magic items/artifacts in DC and a slew other of magic uses and occultists that can summon and bind ghosts, spirits, and demons to do their bidding
Danny is firmly in the category of beings that magic specifically deals with, he should probably be a bit more concerned about magic users

Ya know I’ve made several comments on how insane it was that all these characters smoked like factories and drink like fish dying of thirst and how Akiyama was somehow the only one to experience bad things from the smoking and then this happens

okay so I lurk on a subreddit that is similar to “eyeblech”, where the posts are usually accidents, death, violence, cartels, medical gore, etc. a nasty subreddit for sure!
but I love how when you type in some country on the search bar like “Russia”, or “Mexico”, or “Brazil” there’s of course all kinds of brutality you can imagine
but when you type in “canada” the first post that usually pops up is: ScArY CiGaReTtE pAcKaGiNg

Lung Cancer Diagnostics Market is expected to reach US$ 30.84 Billion by 2030
Lung cancers consequences from uncontrolled cell growth, forming loads referred to as tumors. Typically originating from the lining cells of the airlines (bronchi and bronchioles), it is frequently referred to as bronchogenic cancers or carcinoma. Cigarette smoking is the primary cause, contributing to approximately 90% of instances, at the same time as different factors like lung disease, a…

Scientists Build a Molecular ‘GPS’ to Guide Cell Therapies - Technology Org
The ideal therapy for a disease works exclusively at the site of the disease.
But this ideal is very hard to achieve in the brain, which is wrapped in a protective barrier and contains thousands of different cell types.
The “tissue GPS” system enables engineered T-cells to deliver disease therapies to specific regions in the brain. In an early experiment, these engineered T-cells (cyan) successfully found and treated a glioblastoma (yellow) in laboratory mice. Dying tumor cells are shown in magenta, bottom.
Now, scientists at UC San Francisco have been awarded more than $30 million by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) to lead the Cell Therapies for Neuroinflammation and Neurodegeneration (CT-NEURO) project, which will develop a new technology dubbed “tissue GPS.”  The system uses engineered T cells to guide therapies directly to their targets in the brain to treat neurological diseases, like the deadly brain cancer glioblastoma, multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s.
These immune cells navigate by detecting molecular markers called antigens that appear on the surface of target cells like street addresses, replete with nine-digit zip codes. They only transfer their payload of anti-inflammatories or cancer-killing molecules once they have arrived at the right location.
The tissue GPS system may give immune cells the ability to pass through molecular gates in the blood brain barrier; find and stick to target cells; and safely deliver a tailored therapy. With such an exacting approach, the hope is that patients will be spared many of the uncomfortable or even dangerous side effects associated with other therapies.
“The field has many molecular tools that could potentially address conditions like neuroinflammation or Alzheimers, but it is challenging to know how to use these tools in a way that would precisely target the brain,” said Wendell Lim, PhD, project lead, UCSF Byers Distinguished Professor of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology, and director of the UCSF Cell Design Institute. “Tissue GPS will ensure that therapies have a maximal effect in the right parts of the brain, making it much easier to treat complex disease.”
Disbursed over five years, the funds will support Lim and UCSF colleagues Scott Zamvil, MD, PhD; Hideho Okada, MD, PhD; Dean Sheppard, MD; and Anna Molofsky, MD, PhD, in developing the system.
The UCSF researchers will test the system’s delivery of therapies for brain tumors; neuroinflammation; demyelination (the loss of insulation on neural wires, like in multiple sclerosis); and neurodegeneration. They also will test its ability to reach other specific organs, like the lungs.
The team has mapped out antigens that are present throughout the brain, as well as the molecular sensors required for the tissue GPS to navigate to various brain regions. In an early experiment, their approach enabled engineered T-cells to treat brain tumors in mice.
“Immune cells are incredibly adept at traversing the body to reach a target,” Lim said. “These living cells could provide a powerful way to get therapies to where they need to be.”

Know your options
Immunotherapy vs. Chemotherapy
As research and development in the field of medical science progress, the effectiveness of treatment is increasing. Knowing the difference between various treatments is very important. It enables you to have a better discussion with a doctor. Also being fully aware of the kind of treatment you or your loved one is undergoing decreases stress and anxiety.
What is chemotherapy?
Chemotherapy is administered to kill cancer cells and shrink cancer cells so that the tumour decreases and surgery can be performed, at times it's even used to control the spread of cancer cells to prolong the life of a cancer patient as much as possible.
In chemotherapy, various drugs or medicines are given through intravenous (IV). A tube attached to a needle is inserted into a vein in the patient's chest. Some chemotherapy drugs can be taken in the form of tablets too while some drugs are injected into the muscle, under the skin or directly into the spinal fluid.
When administered correctly chemotherapy is a painless procedure. It should not cause any pain. In case it does call the doctor immediately. In rare cases, the medicine leaks into the surrounding tissues and that may cause pain.
Depending on the kind of cancer and stage, chemotherapy can take 5 mins to a few hours. You will be continuously monitored to ensure that the medication is not reacting negatively to your body.
Chemotherapy does have side effects but with the help of a good doctor, the side effects can be managed well and will not cause the patient discomfort.
Nausea, diarrhoea, mouth sores, fatigue and fever are some of the common side effects that can be treated easily. Keeping in touch with the doctor is very important. Any discomfort which is increasing should be immediately reported.
Hair loss in chemotherapy- not all patients lose hair while undergoing chemotherapy. Chemotherapy drugs kill growing cells. They can’t differentiate between normal and cancer cells. So not only cancer cells, but also those found in the hair follicles, mouth and gastrointestinal tract are killed. That is why some patients develop mouth sores, nausea, diarrhoea and lose their hair.
What is Immunotherapy?
This is a form of treatment that boost a person’s immunity to fight the cancer cells. The patient’s immune system is stimulated with the help of certain drugs, proteins and other elements. This kind of treatment is easy to produce and administer and therefore can be used extensively. Immune cells travel throughout the body via the lymphatic system. Since cancer cells do not contain the same composition that normal cells contain, immunotherapy targets mostly cancer cells.
Biomarkers are tests that determine the level of abnormality. They give a clearer picture of the patient's genetic makeup, behaviour, and interactions with the immune system. Biomarkers in Immunotherapy are easy to obtain. Biomarkers are very important in cancer treatment because they determine the course of treatment.
Also for immunotherapy liquid biopsy can be conducted so that results can be obtained easily and quickly. General biopsy for immunotherapy assesses immune cell status rather than tumour characteristics. Which again is very unique to this treatment.
IHC- Immunohistochemistry assays are used widely because they can indicate the distribution and localization of specific cellular components within cells and in proper tissue context which doctors can use to provide better treatment. Its specific standards are laid down for immunotherapy. It is also easy to predict responses in patients being administered immunotherapy.
Immunotherapies are administered into a vein (IV), through an injection, under the skin or into a muscle some are injected directly into the body cavity where the tumour is located.
This kind of therapy also causes side effects like fatigue, fever, shortness of breath, nausea or vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, decreased appetite, rash and itching.
On the whole, immunotherapy is relatively cost-friendly.
Many oncologists prefer a combination of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy.
Several clinical trials are being conducted to increase the effectiveness and decrease the side effects of immunotherapy.
Depending on your case, symptoms, and stage of cancer Oncologist at Career Cancer Hospital, Bhopal MP decide which treatment to offer. Doctors use biochemical markers to decide the kind of treatment that is best for patients. Biochemical markers like hormones, enzymes, proteins, antigens, or antibodies produced or altered while cancer cells come together are studied carefully.
A team of specialised and dedicated doctors and staff are here to make this journey to fight cancer easy and successful.
