Ty's gray eyes were wide. He looked so confused, Kit thought, while he watched him, almost small in that empty dusty ballroom.

Only a few steps separated them, but it felt like so much more. Kit felt his heart pounding against his heart and he barely stopped himself before lifting his arm to feel it. He took a deep breath, shaking, and kept staring at the man standing in front him. He wanted to say something, anything, to break the dense silence that stretched between them, but, at the same time, he didn’t have anything to say to him. Not anymore.

He closed his eyes for a second. Looking at Ty always required some kind of strength. Strength not to shake him, strength not to yell at him, strength not to jump him and kiss him and make a fool of himself.

“Are you mad at me?” He opened his eyes and fixed his blue stare on his face.

“I’m not.” He answered after a beat.

“Then why…” He frowned and took a step forward. “You are.” He bit his lower lip, causing Kit’s gaze to drop. Fuck, everytime he saw the other he seemed to be even more gorgeous. “Talk to me.”

“I’m not mad, Ty.” He sighed and pushed his hair back. “Just tired. All this trouble for nothing.” He added while opening his arms. They had been following a clue to an abandoned mansion property of an old warlock, but when they had gotten there every trace of said warlock was missing. Okay, so maybe he was a bit frustrated, sue him.

“We just have to keep trying.”

“I guess.” Sensing another awkward silence, Kit turned around and started walking towards the front door. “We should go, there’s nothing else to see here.”

“I talked to Livvy.” He said. Kit stopped dead in his tracks and looked over his shoulder. “I…” His eyebrows were furrowed once again. “Jules knows.” He whispered. “And he’s mad at me. And I keep trying to talk to Livvy, but she’s ignoring me. I didn’t… I didn’t think she would resent me this badly. I just wanted to be with her.” Kit took a step forward when he saw how stressed Ty was. “I keep doing it wrong. With all of them. And now you’re angry at me too.”

“I’m not angry.” He repeated, slowly.

“But you are!” He exclaimed. “I know you are! I know you’ve been angry for years!” He throwed his hands in the air. “You were disappointed in me. You left without saying goodbye.” He whispered furiously.

“You don’t have the right to reproach me for that.”

“It still hurt!” He screamed, passing his hands through his hair over and over again. “It hurts. Every day.”

“Ty…”

“You could have say goodbye.” He murmured. “You could have talked to me.”

“I told you, Ty. So many times, but you didn’t listen.”

“Then you should have made me listen!” His voice echoed off the walls. “You packed your bags and left! Did I matter so little to you?” He sounded hurt.

“You’re kidding.” He blinked. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “So little? I loved you, Ty. Love. As in ‘I would bring someone back from the death’ love.” He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself and focused his eyes on Ty, who was already staring. “Look. I know it was shitty of me to leave like that, but I needed it. It sounds lame and I’m sorry that I hurt you, but I was hurting too. I just… I needed space. I was heartbroken and sad and confused and-”

“Loved?” He interrupted him.

“What?” He gazed at him, perplexed.

“You said loved.” He frowned. “Does that mean you don’t love me anymore?”

“I-”

“Because I do.” He continued. “Love you, that is. I loved you back then and I love you now.” Kit could only stare at him, bewildered.

“What… What did you just say.”

“I love you.”

“But you…” He covered his eyes with his hands, trying to understand what the hell was happening. “I meant in love.”

“I know.” Ty replied. “It’s you who won’t listen. I’ve been telling you. I loved you then and I love you now. And I loved you all these years.” Kit could hear his own ragged breaths. “I love you.”

“You love me.” Faded piano notes started to play, but both of them were too focused on each other to realize it.

“I do. Do you need me to keep repeating it? I might as well record it for you, then. I love-”

“I’m gonna kiss you.” Kit mumbled, and that was the only warning he got before the other shadowhunter closed the distance between them and pressed his lips against his.

God, Kit thought, they were so soft and they fitted perfectly together. His dagger fell to the floor at the same time his hands went to Ty’s hair, fingers carding through his dark strands while Ty started to respond to his attack.

At first, he was hesitant. He could feel it in the way his hands trembled a little by his sides before he decided to put them on Kit’s slim waist, shy. His lips started moving against his after a couple of seconds, falling in a slow rhythm that took tiny gasps out of the both of them. There weren’t fireworks, Kit thought, but he sure as hell as if the world were spinning around him.

“I love you.” Kit breathed against his mouth before kissing him again, deeper this time, caressing his lower lip with his tongue. Ty opened his mouth instinctively, allowing him to enter. Their bodies were pressed closely together, no space between them. The blond started walking until Ty’s back was pressed against the wall.

“Kit…” Ty whispered before leaning into him once again. They couldn’t get enough of each other, didn’t want to separate. Not after finally being able to hold the other like this.

Ty’s hands wandered then up and down his back, feeling the hard muscles underneath them while Kit now had one on the side of his neck and the other enveloping his middle, caging him almost as if he were afraid that he would run.

He would never. And now he had all the time in the world to show him.

Or all the time demons allowed them to have.

(He would take it all, wouldn’t have it any other way.)

Ty flashed a brilliant smile, and all Kit could feel was wonder and amazement towards his boyfriend.

“You are extraordinary, Christopher.” Ty pressed a kiss to the base of his throat.

Kit’s lips tugged upwards. “Christopher? Not Kit?”

Ty’s arm went around Kit’s waist. “Considering the fact that you can hardly remember your name after kissing me, I doubt it really matters what I call you.”

Kit’s eyebrows rose, along with an unwelcome flush. “Untrue.”

Ty grinned. “Want to bet?”

About 10 minutes later, both Kit and Ty were covered in a sheen of sweat, Kit’s lips swollen and Ty’s usually pale skin flush with color.

“You’re doing well, Watson.” Ty noted.

“Still not Kit?”

“Well, you clearly still remember your name.” Ty said, feigning disappointment.

Kit smirked. “Guess you didn’t do too well of a job.”

Ty rolled hips against Kit, extracting a sharp breath from the blonde and a smile from the other.

“I was just getting started.”

All Kit could feel was ecstasy. There was no passage of time when he was with Ty, there was no fear. Ty leaned down and kissed him for the umpteenth time, their swollen lips colliding and sending sparks down his spine.

“Who are you?”

“I’m yours.”

Do I write fanfiction because I genuinely still enjoy the fandom... or am I holding on to something I am long overdue letting go of in favour of finally pursuing my original works full-time? 

Because I adore the TLH cast, truly. But I think I’m exhausted now. All the rants about character endings, themes that did not carry over and arcs that did not resolve, frustration over seeing all the more optimistic views when I’m still raging over the disservice to certain characters -- I think I may be done now. Or maybe just FOR now. Characters can belong to a fandom and interpretations to fan authors, but... they don’t feel like mine anymore. 

Am I here for the community? Is that it? 

It feels wrong to abandon my fics while they remain incomplete. I literally have a full outline for WBITHOM and could tell you what happens in each chapter and what the ending is right now. I’ve just lost the will to write it out in proper form. What does my work mean to anyone anyway? It’s only a wish fulfilment self-insert at the end of the day.

How many times CAN I read about these characters without thinking about what everyone else’s thoughts are, the news of what CC has planned, the fact that TLH has ended and it was kind of a flop no matter how satisfied a large number of people may be and that TWP is next and much more hyped? 

The TSC universe has endless possibilities (I still think about sea faring Shadowhunters thanks to discussions with @thevagabondexpress) and yet it feels kind of like it’s running dry. For me, at least. There are still fanfics I like to read; I just don’t think I can write my own. And I’m not that excited about the future installments to canon. 

CC follows a formula and the only time she truly feels unpredictable is when she pulls the kind of stunts we saw in TLH where characters were killed for shock value, another character acts as a convenient fix-up for the infamous family tree, characters who were supposed to be best friends but didn’t spend enough time together to feel that close at all, red herrings for character deaths everywhere, just... for crying out loud, everything ended a little Too Well, barring Kit’s death and the anticlimactic deaths of our antagonists (Tatiana’s defeat could have been MUCH cooler). What happened to the promise that it’d be more emotional than TID? Sure, I sobbed when Kit died but that was because it was unexpected, unfair, and he reminded me of someone who I cared about. But that was it. I felt so empty after that when I was reading. I got to the end of the novel and while, yes, it was bittersweet -- it just wasn’t satisfying. I was not satisfied.

ChOT felt cheap. I’ll say it. So many plot beats and decisions felt cheap. 

None of my fanfics work to repair any of that. They feel pointless. Why do I bother writing then? My fics change some things -- for instance: Cordelia’s lack of knowledge, letting Matthew actually have something significant and life-changing happen to him in a way that is meant to better his life in the long-term, James actually having more of an identity crisis, him and Matthew having more connection moments -- but does anyone really care about that? I have no idea. 

So, I feel like I’m not contributing anything. Therefore, this is either a “I’m done writing fanfic for now” or “I’m hungry and on my period and something will inspire me when I least expect it and you’ll probably see an update sooner than later”. I don’t know. My fic feels like a lot of effort for very little self-satisfaction. I don’t feel that proud of it or many others I’ve done, if that makes sense.

1st Note

This is for all who read my TWP fanfic. I decided to post this to clarify a bit of what you can expect in terms of length. Because of Tumblr's word limit, I have to design my chapters and the overall fanfic itself a little differently from fanfics on websites without a word limit. I work with the Hollywood system I was taught in my writing classes for each book in my TWP series. This means 5 storyblocks that increase in difficulty before wrapping it all up with a neat bow. Like, with book 1 we're currently at obstacle 2. Obstacle 1 was getting evidence the Queen was behind the attack on Kit, obstacle 2 is obviously freeing the witness (Jaime). Overall, I'd say we're about a third into the first book. Perhaps a quarter as it depends on how I edit the final obstacle (aka the climax of the 1st book).
