All Americans acting like this is just
The Worst™
and the end of the world and "we all lost TODAY" and "I'm so shaken I gotta substance abuse and forget about the world pray for us" and "this SURE is stress awareness week amiright" while. Palestinian people have been living in literal hell not just for a whole year of continuous bombing, kidnapping and torture. But 76 years in a row. And not even to mention the rest of the horrors worldwide caused and funded by USA. Are you out of your mind

Hey GT! Do you hope to be a published author someday? What would you write?
No, I don't! Writing is a beloved hobby for me, but I don't aspire to publish. Fanfic scratches the writerly itch without putting too much pressure on the output, not least because I'm not asking people to pay for my work. It also means I don't have deadlines or expectations of output except those that are self-imposed. It's a nice middle-ground between locking up my projects in a secret folder on my desktop, never to be glimpsed by human eyes, and pitching my naked heart like a fastball in the general direction of the English-speaking universe.
If I ever had an idea for an original novel that I liked enough to finish it, I might try my hand at getting it published, but I see a bit of a difference between that and wanting to be a published writer. Like, if it happens, great; if it doesn't, I'll be just as happy.

Jill Stein for President: “We have the power”
The corrupt two-party system is squandering trillions of dollars our money on endless war and genocide, while neglecting the needs of our own people. We can't stand it any longer - and we have the power to stop it.
We can’t rely on the corporate media to inform voters about our campaign, so please share this video and pitch in to help us get the message out to voters across the country

Seeing all the discussions between USAmericans lately about the presidential election is so frustrating because like. y'all know you're going to have a president even if you don't vote for one, right?
It just feels like such a self-indulgent approach to morality because the only thing not voting does is coddle the feelings of the person refusing to vote bc they can be like 'well at least it's not MY fault'
Like the trolley problem isn't really about whether more or less death is better - less death is self-evidently better. That part is taken for granted. It's about your personal willingness to take an active role in the situation - to feel responsible for the outcome.
But the USA will have a president after the election and I haven't actually seen anyone arguing that trump would be the better choice, just that harris is also evil and voting for either candidate makes you morally repugnant. But listen. Listen. refusing to participate in the election doesn't absolve you from the outcome - it just shows you care more about your personal sense of moral superiority than the lives of the thousands of people worldwide who will be impacted by the results of the election and don't get a say.
Obviously we'd all prefer if there was an option on the ballot other than "genocide" and "more genocide than the other guy" but I'm seriously yet to see anyone who argues against voting harris properly acknowledge that if you don't vote then the election still has a winner.
If you're able to vote in the US presidential election then your hand is already on the lever. You're already involved. Choosing to walk away because 'they're both bad' does not morally absolve you from the outcome of the election, it just coddles your personal feelings.
It just feels like such a short-sighted and egocentric view on morality to go "well I'M going to remain morally pure. I'M not going to vote so I'M not culpable for whatever happens." Yes you are. You had the opportunity to pull the lever and you chose not to. Can you genuinely, hand to god, look me in the eye and tell me you think trump is the better choice. One of them IS going to be president and if you don't vote for kamala it IS going to be trump. The system sucks but if you're within it you have to choose one. There's no opting out if you opt out that's just a vote for the other guy so who are you picking.

not to get political but i keep seeing clips from a usa presidental debate and holy sht u guys😭😭😭 what are you dooinngnggg that is literally insane to watch there is no way its actually like i wow i cant even form a sentence like. the debating is so… how on earth is it possible that people are voting trump? like genuinely, and i dont even know a lot about either party or candidate but just the fact that hes saying so many things that gets fact checked and proven wrong during one debate is crazy. how can anyone trust anything he says like he just proved that he’ll say anything no matter how stupid. multiple things during one debate. how did it ever get to the point where people become like that how do people see the debates and the speeches and whatnot and still somehow plan to vote trump. he just says things. how is he even allowed to run still??? ive never seen this man make a good point ever. actually i dont think ive ever seen him even just make a point. he just talks, mostly in the form of facial expressions and hand movements.
howwwwww is he gonna be president when he cant even have a debate? i wouldnt let him cut my grass if he paid me, with the way he’s showing lower ..ability to …think😭 he always seems like hes debating like he’s imitating a conversation except hes never ever heard one. the way he ‘debates’ sounds like if i would be drunkingly trying to convince someone that im black and theyre just blind. it doesnt make any sense. they fact check him and hes just straight up wrong, the whole thing seemed like a bad improv scene or an ironic idfk the simpsons episode about being gullible. it is insane to watch and i dont get how he gets away with it. you guys need to vote

Just the fact that Americans don’t even consider more than two candidates. Like, how is the choice between a total of two people that are supposed to rule over one of the biggest and most influential countries ever going to be democratic? Did they just forget about pluralism?
(Apologies for the generalization based on one tweet but I haven’t seen a lot of discussion about the two party system over there from Americans)

Abandon Harris ENDORSES Jill Stein!
We are faced with two opposing forces: one currently involved in actions resulting in immense human suffering, and another showing little willingness to change course. Both seem committed to maintaining these destructive policies. We call on Muslim-Americans and all those who stand firmly against genocide to vote for the Green Party in 2024. The path to justice is long, painful, and difficult, but it is ours to pave and follow.
