I’m watching this program abt rewilding the Lake District and there’s a sheep farmer who is against it as it destroys his livelihood & the farming communities way of life + it’s future !

so what I’m saying is…

- sheep farmer / wild horse caretaker eskel who’s family have farmed on the fells for generations. it’s not an easy life and it doesn’t really make any profit, but it makes him happy. Waking up each morning to check on the sheep (they roam pretty freely but he still likes to make sure nothing has happened over night), to feed the few chickens and hens and to groom any foals he’s currently raising

- baker / brewer lambert who continues in his foster families foot steps of producing the best bread + baked goods in the whole of the lakes (well that’s what the locals say) and has started his own brewery on the side (as it’s just the same as baking just with greater rewards)

- conservationist/ environmentalist geralt who was brought up in an old industrial town and found freedom from his mums family in a hidden patch of greenery amongst derelict red-bricked buildings. After passing his apprenticeship and spending years advocating for more green / wildlife spaces in towns and cities, he’s looking forward to an ‘easy project’. Cause how hard will it be to convince farmers about the benefits of nature

- journalist / blogger jaskier who’s hoping this placement year project writing and documenting for the National Trust will finally show his family why doing a joint honours in journalism was a good thing and far more important than (idk law ? politics ? business management ?)

Lambert fiddled with the duvet beneath his palms, twisting and pinching the soft cotton as he tried to calm his heart and stop blinking so quickly. There was no reason he should be this fucking nervous, but it always happened before they tried something new.

Since he'd started dating Aiden, Lambert's sex life had gone from IUCN certified extinct and something he ignored to make himself feel less like an undesirable worm, to a mind-blowing rollercoaster that left him breathless and dazed at every turn. Aiden had helped pry Lambert's libido free from a fuckton of repression and fear-induced paralysis, leaving a whole wide world of kink and sex free to explore. As long as it was with Aiden, and the light was off, and Aiden wasn't wearing his glasses so everything was blurry anyway, and–

The list of "nah" was quite long. Maybe more than quite. Aiden was helping him tackle each one at a time, but it was like a game of wack a mole. No sooner had Lambert overcome one issue, another popped up or resurged. Some of it would never change, but other items were… negotiable.

This was just another step, but it felt more like a leap. Compared to other things they'd done, it was fucking nothing, but the self-disgust so deeply ingrained in Lambert's psyche hadn't allowed him to even entertain this before.

Aiden had seen Lambert squirm with arousal while watching porn together, getting wetter when someone received head than from anything else.

It was hot, alright? Watching someone's tongue work like that, the lucky guy writhing and shaking…

But that guy wasn't him. Wasn't Lambert. That guy was confident and smooth-skinned, with faded scars, a square jaw, and a good hairline. Lambert would never be that. His second puberty had skipped the floppy-haired twink stage and gone straight to mid-thirties blue collar with rapidly emerging cranial thumb print. Who would ever find him attractive? Well, Aiden, apparently.

Lambert trusted Aiden. Aiden wasn't a one night stand using him for some kinda fetish bingo card, or a drunken dickhead in a club, or a curious Grindr match, or any of the other skin-crawling encounters Lambert had endured since he'd built up enough self esteem to start dating. Aiden looked at, kissed and touched Lambert with genuine fucking affection and desire, so Lambert had said yes. Yeah, sure, no biggy.

It was a biggy. Fucking mammothy. The bathroom door clicked and Aiden swaggered out in his cotton boxers, smiling, lips slightly parted. Lambert could see the line of Aiden's cock, carefully positioned off to the side and already hard. Lambert tried for laid-back. "Sure you don't wanna put that to good use?"

"Bertie, tonight's all about you, this," Aiden pointed at his dick as he stood at the foot of the bed, hips thrust forward, "is just from thinking about what I'm about to do. You're so fucking hot, can't wait to hear that mouth of yours run off."

Lambert's cheeks burned and he rubbed his legs together. He couldn't help but look at Aiden's lips, damp and plush; the first throb of arousal rolled through him as he thought about how they felt on his skin, how they would feel between his legs. "C'mon then, stop dragging your feet."

Aiden's smile softened, his head tilted the other way. Lambert wasn't kidding anyone, least of all Aiden, who hooked his thumbs beneath the waistband of his boxers. "Mind if I take these off? Might cum in my pants while my tongue's in you."

Another rush of heat pulsed through Lambert's hips and his toes curled. The bastard knew exactly what he was doing. Lambert swallowed, licked his lips and nodded. The pressure under his skin only intensified as Aiden shimmied out of his boxers, making a show of it as he always did, cock bouncing free of its confines and swaying with the shimmy of his hips. Lambert wished he had Aiden's body confidence, but it was easy when you were all smooth, brown skin, toned muscles and cheeky grins…

The bed dipped as Aiden crawled up it on hands and knees, and Lambert fell back into the pillows behind him. His lips were soft, and gentle, the moan of longing that slipped past them vibrating to Lambert's very core. This was familiar ground. He knew how Aiden felt above him. The soft curls of his reddish-brown body hair against Lambert's chest, the firm heat of his body pressing close, desperate to feel and be felt.

Meditation Troubles

Gaetan dislikes meditating.

It just doesn't come easy to him. Before he underwent the grasses, he was energetic, yes, but he could just as well sit still, watch the clouds go by.

After the grasses, it's hard. He can still concentrate of course. Hunting is one of the first tasks the young Witchers are set to familiarize themselves with their new-found abilities, and he can sink into focus as he is waiting for his prey. But meditating is hard.

This is bad. He knows it's bad, because out on the Path, he'll have to meditate. It will speed up recovery from injuries and will be the best way for his body to prepare before a contract while potions are stewing and the time passes – but as soon as he has to sit down with the other young adepts, his legs are getting restless and his skin will start to itch.

The mentors have noticed, of course, and Gaetan has been told more than once that this is not uncommon and that Witchers like him will especially benefit from meditation. He surely knows that it does him good whenever he finally succeeds sinking into the Deep Calm Within. Nevertheless, it is so hard to get there, and having to watch his peers becoming still around him while he is still shifting in his spot, trying to find a comfortable position that won't make his legs grow numb and stop his nose from itching and allow his eyes to keep shut and his breathing to slow down is incredibly frustrating.

Of course, he disturbs the others.

Aiden makes sure to sit next to him whenever he can, but his brother cannot stop the other adepts from complaining, and thus the mentors have no choice but to place Gaetan a little apart from the group. He hates being singled out like that. He does excel in other parts of the training: He is better with a knife than anyone else in his cohort, and his sure footwork on the tightrope earns him his mentors' praise, but he is still being mocked for not being able to meditate.

Once, he tries to come to meditation practice drunk, but the mentor smells the alcohol on him, of course, and he is sent away to have his schedule heaped with hard camp chores until he has sweated it all out, and he doesn't try it again.

His next plan is to stay up all night before meditation training, and this makes it easier for him twice, until he falls asleep during the third session and one of the boys who doesn't like him tattles on him.

The punishment for that is even worse: Gaetan is sat down across from one of the strictest mentors and is told not to move until he is able to meditate and the mentor can hear his heartbeat and pulse slow down considerably.

He can feel the panic rising in his throat the moment he is given the instructions, but when he is shifting in his spot to try and find a comfortable position, the mentor uses a well-placed Aard and he can feel his right ear stinging from the blow. He tries to sit still and calm down, but it doesn't work. His face has never itched more, his legs are numb and his skin feels as if it is way too tight, but he doesn't dare to move with the mentor's yellow eyes fixed upon him.

After an hour and a half, when he is almost choking on the scream that has been building in his throat, his shirt so soaked with sweat that it is sticking to his back, he is rescued by Miadi'el, one of the oldest female Witchers in the camp. Ignoring the mentor's furious protests, she tells Gaetan to follow her, and Gaetan jumps up from his spot, shakes his hands, stomps his feet and screams until his throat feels raw and his skin feels like it fits again.

Miad'iel takes him to Guxart, who allows her to take Gaetan under her wing for a few days. She explains that she had similar troubles during her training and gives him different tasks to fulfill to calm his mind: Sorting pieces of string according to length, etching repeating patterns into leather, breaking twigs into little same-sized pieces and arranging them into little piles. It works; meditating feels much easier after that.

When he rejoins the others, it is still taking him longest to fall into meditation, but he is able to enter the state and remain calm for a reasonable time. As he becomes older and more independent, he sometimes skips the practice in favour of the things Miad'iel has taught him. Over time, however, he feels that they are not a substitute, but more like a different approach, and that nothing will help him with his inner restlessness as regular meditation.

In the weeks before their last and final trial, Gaetan has nightmares about having to meditate again like he had to during that afternoon: Sitting for hours without moving a muscle, with everything itching and bothering him and the sweat-soaked shirt sticking to his back. He doesn't tell anybody except Aiden, who sleeps next to him, and his brother has the courtesy not to laugh.  

Of course, they do not have to meditate during their final trials, and apart from Guxart advising him to keep up his practice diligently, the topic doesn't come up again. He does keep practicing on his first year on the path until it finally become somewhat easier over time.

But still. Gaetan doesn't like it.

My most beloved fic will forever remain "Blood Ties", lovingly referred to as the Mammoth, for its size and impact both. Written and rewritten and translated and rewritten again, alternative ending for Ciri as the ruler of independent Cintra, reshaping the post-TW3 political landscape of the Continent, including a flotilla of ships, and two relationship tags added to AO3.

It's sequel, "Business Matter", diving deeper into the consequences of decisions made earlier in the story, is a close second. Ciri/Tankred of Kovir, whom I loved developing based on what crumbs we got of his characterisation in the books, as well as his parents. Special shout out to the smut scenes written on a busy commuter train on the way to/from work.

"Splinters", modern!AU Cahir/Ciri I love for all the delicious banter I could fully indulge in; a tribute to Eamon's Cahir (and his hands), and the internet persona we were lucky to be given glimpses of, before fans' behaviour drove him offline.

"The Ghost of You", Cahir/Ciri, my most Problematic fic so far, written out of spite, turned into something very special to me, and a few other people. Thank you friends, as always, for the encouragement and support.

"Hunter's Moon" happened because Natanis came and took over, and I got to weep with her over everything that could've been, had things been different. Regis/Natanis during the hansa's stay in Beauclair.

Mass Effect really brings out the darker ideas in me lmaooo. This was my first MCD fic and as such, doesn't get a whole lot of attention. But god, the indoctrination theory was too good to let go of, and I love the emotions in this fic.

In terms of canon source material, I am pretty partial to the games, but anything goes here! I own the novels, dark horse comics, and TW3. I have watched The Hexer, The Witcher (Netflix), and a moderate amount of the playthroughs for TW1 + TW2 as well.

I enjoy the universe, characters, and world-building more than any particular/single piece of media, and therefore take inspiration/aspects from any/all source material when I am writing.

By and large, I don't do fandom discourse. I'm here to hangout and converse, not argue or debate.

1. Blood of Emerald, a Cerro & Lara Dorren fic. I think in the experiencing of drafting, editing, and revising this super niche fic (over the course of 2 yrs now! Gosh can i believe it and it’s still not done), I experienced firsthand and first time what “brainrot” feels like 😂♥️ I remember I started it with 2 ideas: [a] The two contrasting versions of elven and human accounts on the Lara & Queen Cerro tale [b] The note from Avallac’h in the elven ruin (TW3 ), Lara’s cenotaph, his questioning on the absence of Lara’s spirit despite the violence of her death. I saw the ending, and everything started from there. I got to know @dclcq’s wondrous writing during my fanfic research on the elves, and @jawanaka has shown me such consistent generosity over my very inconsistent updates 😭 I think that’s made this fic special to me in so many ways

2. Seeking Resonance. Having lots of fun writing a second-person narrative. Modern AU, Professor!Regis, fluff and confettis. Happy to see my words give people a fluffy day.

3. Await the Dawn. Current favorite child bc I’m really (un)hinged on writing this redemption story. It’s—imo—my better writing, like BoE (albeit the two being in different genres and writing styles) because I edit a couple of times before posting, and I’m consciously utilizing different writing techniques here, especially experimenting with pacing control.

4. Half Moon, Full Circle. Regis x Queen of the Night. Giving both characters a chance to close old wounds before embarking on their respective journeys.

5. The Path of Aloneness (獨行道). Cyberpunk fic. Genre-appropriate prose exploration and something to do with 公司(老)狗 Takemura.

Interesting question, I'm not quite sure I know such a person. What was your first posted fic? a partial translation from English of a "24" fic when I was 19 and supposed to study for my high school graduation exam, but it was lost when the forum I posted it on died.

THE EMOTIONS

Was there a fic or writer who inspired you to start writing your own posted works? I don't think so :)

What do you remember about writing your first posted fic? I remember loving the emotions in the fic I was translating, the family drama, the unfolding troubled story etc. I don't remember what fic was my own afterwards or the emotions that accompanied writing it.

Is there a fic or fics you’re most proud of, and why? I really like my The Witcher modern!AU, for how long they are and how many themes from the games and books I managed to modernise while keeping the characters in character :)

Is there a fic you would redo completely if you could? Yes, I deleted a series of The Witcher ficlets in Polish just for that purpose. Maybe not rewrite completely, but I use one problematic trope far too many times and I hoped to change that. Still haven't even started, so I probably won't.

Is there a specific detail (setting, interaction, quirk, dialogue) you stole from your own life to use in a fic? Not really.

Is there a line in your fic that makes you smile/snicker/chuckle every time you remember it? I have that in a fic I haven't published yet. :)

Is there a line in your fic that makes you sad every time you remember it? I don't think so. I write hurt/comfort, not tragedy ;)

Are there any story ideas you’ve considered but are too nervous/intimidated to attempt? What are they? SMUUUUUT. I mean, I wrote two sex scenes in my long 'writing career', one I still have to edit, and one was changed into something more vague (might still delete that one). I just... I wanted to try it as a challenge, but my stories are fine without smut. Won't force myself.
