closed starter for @mrrangerrp // nash & taz everything had started ethical. legal and honest with a license until his business started getting more attention. there were cartels from all over the world who got word that nash's marijuana was the best for miles. so he began selling outside of california, first transporting his product over the border to mexico. the process happened over the course of a few months before he started noticing the would-be spies. the man knew how to move his product without getting caught, but he had no doubt that there wouldn't be those suspicious of what he'd been doing. which only made him that much more vigilant.
one day in particular, he noticed a woman who had the 'nark' look written all over her, only on this day he truly hadn't been doing business at all. only going about his normal day — so he decided to approach her. "you wouldn't happen to be spying on me, would ya?" a laid back voice, and smirk on his lips.

tw : mafia/murder/homicide/abandonment/family loss/ crime
maria fernanda " mafe " jaramillo was born on devils night ( or at least that's what her grandmother used to say ) , born two minutes earlier than her twin brother at 3:00 am on october 31st, in medellin colombia. she was the first girl out of five boys , everyone who laid eyes on her enamored with the prized jewel of the jaramillo family. her life was anything but normal , being much more privileged than most of the people that she encountered , at a young age she didn't know much about , what it meant to be a jaramillo. she was aware that her family was well respected , never having to wait for anything , being fed from a gold spoon ( literally ) and having anything that her heart desired.when camilo was born , it was like she had her own personal little doll to play with. she adored him , with every being in her soul, protected him from her fathers righteous ways and her older brothers bullying , at the youngest jaramillo. she never thought that she could love someone as much as her little brother but as the grew older , she realized that having the last name jaramillo , wasn't all it was cracked out to be. though as she got older, she learned what would happen if anyone disrespected , anyone with the last name jaramillo, DEATH was the only revenge.
she was about twelve , when her eldest brother and her twin decided to go to business . she was in charge of making sure that everything was ready for their return, though what she didn't expect was to only welcome one brother back , the other one was gone : killed by the mexican cartels orders. since that moment everything changed , her mother decided that she didn't want the same life for her younger kids , especially not for camilo. pepa and herself , already had a taste and even though , she could level with it , violence was pepa's own vice : something that he could not quite quit . so that was it , their life in colombia had ended and miami it was. her father had some connections down here, people who still valued and idolized their family name , as crazy as it sounded.
music helped her deal with her life , it helped her sort of go to a world where their was an escape. where her life seemed just a very bad nightmare. miami was ideal but it wasn't colombia. she missed the food , she missed the people . god , she missed her ocean. on her fifteenth birthday , her mother wanted to do this big party for her. everyone who was someone , was going to show up. they were out looking through some ideas on what she wanted but nothing seemed to stick out to her , so they had one last party planner to meet with. as they were making their way to the car , mafe had forgotten her phone and decided to go back for it. it all happened in a split second , the loud BOOM echoed around her , smoke filling up her hues , the sharp noise that echoed in her ears seemed to distract her from looking for her mother. it wasn't until she looked for her that she saw the car up in flames. by the time she wanted to run and check on her mother, people were holding her back and the rest was simply a blur.
a lot of things changed for the whole family, sunday dinners had become meetings and there wasn't much life in the household. pepa and mafe decided to try their luck in the city of dreams and luckily enough , both of them were known for something more than just the cartel family. their faces changed peoples perspective of them , the twins were doing what they did best and that was putting on a show , a damn good one at that. it wasn't long til mafe met someone , this one took her for a loop. she thought that love could save her, and after just a few months they decided to marry. she thought this could save her, this could heal her but as the day came, she ran ----- she ran and never looked back. leaving the man that could have loved her, could have given her a good life but deep down she didn't need anyone to take care of her , she would do that all by herself.

My classmates and I were escaping from a drug cartel chasing us on a bridge in their black car, but we got under the bridge and they drove past us. My friend was playing golf the entire chase.

when will people realize. when will people fucking realize that there's more to fucking RAMCOA than the satanic panic bullshit.
cults count as RAMCOA.
trafficking humans of any kind is RAMCOA.
gangs and cartels can absolutely inflict RAMCOA.
there is so much more to RAMCOA then the youtube video essays about the satanic panic. RAMCOA is a spectrum of experiences. it's not some mythical shit you only see in gratuitous horror movies. it's real and it happens every fucking day.

this is a short article but i think about it a lot in light of the flattening of neo imperialism and geopolitical violence to consumable american content.
The actual moral universe of the show is far simpler: dope dealers deserve whatever’s coming to them, the bad guys often win, and the good guys should be able to do whatever it takes to stop them.
Narcos can’t truly complicate itself any further because doing so would acknowledge that all these stories are the same story, and in telling them, the show becomes complicit. Midway through the first season of Narcos: Mexico, Gallardo (Diego Luna) leaves his native country for a secret meeting in South America. In a moment that’s designed to be a big surprise for longtime Narcos fans, Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) is waiting for him.
You could tell this story indefinitely
“I’ve always sort of seen this as of the Marvel superhero universe of connecting narcotraffickers, and that they all coexist,” showrunner Eric Newman told The Hollywood Reporter not long after the season premiered in 2018. It’s a crass way of describing the dynamics at play in these stories of cartels and corruption, but also a very American one. The gringos, as the Mexicans doing the dirty work for the cartel bosses say, always want more. And what better expression of “more” is there than the excesses of the modern cinematic universe?

🤮 fucking yikes! Nick Groff is literally interacting with people who use antisemitic dog whistles and promoting a movie made by an Evangelical Christian Q*non person.

michael trevino & he&him/cis male ‷ watch out , mateo cortez has crash-landed into roswell !! they look thirty-five and celebrate their birthday on the thirteenth of april. they are from roswell, new mexico reside in tripp’s trailer park and are currently working as animal caretaker at puhlman’s ranch. one thing you should know about them is they fully believe hollywood is made up of clones. ‷
tw: caution! this intro contains mentions of drugs and cartel activity
mateo cortez was born into a family that always seemed to have a lot of money, but up until he was older, he never did know why exactly that was. lucky for him, or unlucky depending on how you viewed it, he became the spark of his dad’s eye. anything he wanted his dad  would make sure he had it.
the older mateo got the more he began to see the world around him for what it really was…just a pretty picture. his father was one of the main bosses for a  latin cartel; the man was in charge of both transporting drugs and weapons to and from mexico.
he grew up with beautiful things around him, sure, but he also saw a lot of the bad things this world had to offer. he saw what happened to anyone who crossed his father,  he saw how his mother, despite loving his father dearly, felt more trapped than happy in the marriage she was in. it all taught him a lot of things, but most of all, it taught him that no matter what he always had to be true to his heart in the end.
he doesn’t really date much and if he does it’s mainly because he is forced by his parents to give things a chance with said person for whatever reason. he always tells people to take his public relationships with a grain of salt but people never listen and always assume he’s just either scared of commitment or easily swayed from his partners. truth was, he didn’t have the heart to accidentally tangle someone up in his mess of a life.
he’s only ever had one ex that he’s held dear to his heart, but his father hated them. as a result he wasn’t able to make the relationship last, but it’s one he looks back on fondly. (wc soon to be posted)
he’s fun spirited, sarcastic for days, and loves dark colors. however, despite his love for the paranormal and creepy, christmas is his favorite holiday and halloween comes close second.
despite the fact that his father does expect mateo to fill his shoes after he passes, mateo tries to stay as far away from that life as he possibly can. he’s currently been a animal caretaker at puhlman’s ranch for about two years now and he doesn’t see himself wanting to really leave the position. he loves caring for the animals, helping them deliver their babies, tending to them when they are sick, and all he wants is to continue doing that for the rest of his days.
his sexuality is uncertain to him. he’s never really known that part of him. on one hand he understands his father wants him to eventually have his own kids and settle down so as to carry the family name on and on the other hand mateo himself isn’t too sure he’s looking to have the family his dad quiet pictured in mind. he’s had a couple of boyfriends on the down low here and there, secret hook ups, but for the most part he tries not to overthink things. who knows, maybe he will end up with the perfect wife and life one day after all.

the negativity never stops with me i fear
hate how my deep-seated mistrust in tv and movie writers means i can't fully and properly engage with meta or predictions bc i do not trust them to be consistent or follow through on their own goddamn set up
like people on tumblr dot com make so much sense talking about buddie and why there's no conclusion that would make satisfactory narrative sense except buddie but my brain is like too bad every single person i follow on here is smarter than every single person who's ever gotten license to write and produce a tv show and we're probably doomed either way

if the queen of the south anon is trying to say that because queen of the south, narcos, narcos mexico, and countless other cartel based media portrayals are released into mainstream tv, that it is justified to continue portraying a harmful stereotypical portrayal ... they need to get on google. there are thousands of articles, research studies, and op-eds from credible latinx voices and credible research outside tumblr explaining and proving why that media is harmful and how it's not okay. this isn't a "tumblr rpc is being controlling/hateful" or "one person on tumblr is holier than thou" issue, it's literally THOUSANDS of real world, real life people begging to not include the cartel in fictional entertainment portrayals for at least the last four years. further, why is it SO crucial there's another damn portrayal of the cartel? like what does the cartel - an organization that also deals in sex trafficking, child sex trafficking, human trafficking in general, and countless other atrocities - really give you that you're here to defend it being basis of a group's lore? Not only that, but also defend advertising such that other writers can feel encouraged to continue that harmful projection as well?
plus this particular group is basing it on the sinaloa cartel, a very real criminal organization. and yes, that was their argument, which is why i'm not answering it. thank you for expressing yourself so clearly on this!
